Went here for a breakfast but got delayed so had to choose from the lunch menu which really worried me. Firstly, the "Wee Kitchen" is on a caravan site, so I wasn't expecting much. Secondly our waiter seemed a little unsure. Thirdly, I have food intolerances but my daughter has severe allergies and worries about eating out. I should not have worried! The waiter was just making sure of our choices before the chef came out and spoke to all of us, assuring us that she would find us all something to eat. She was so good, taking fully 10 minutes to ensure all of our needs could be addressed that my daughter ended up having a cauliflower bhuna and cajun fries. She never eats like this outside our home. I had a nasi goring which was stunning. Our partners had a battered fishfinger sandwich, which was in fact haddock gougons handprepared using shetland fish, and a speciality pulled pork pie with apple sauce and stuffing. This last delicacy looked like it could be a main attraction at a medieval banquet and tasted positively regal. To be honest, I can't say enough about the quality of the food and service. The price was extra ordinary - 4 main meals, 3 coffees, 2 teas - amazing care and detail - grand total £43!! The chef told us that if we book in advance she will ensure vegan bread is available. Currently she has a full gluten free menu available, but gluten free, dairy free and vegan is a really specialist item! This is rarely catered for anywhere in my experience. I have experienced this level of care before only 3 times, once in a 5* Hilton, in the executive lounge, once in a Michelin starred restaurant and once in a highly commended restaurant. This is how we were treated in a caravan park cafe. Miss this gem and you will regret it!!

Have visited this place numerous times over the years but since it’s been taken over in April it’s so much better, went a few weekends ago took 6 of my family memebers and we all had something different have to say the burgers and sirloin steaks as well as the salads went down a treat, the Cajun chicken nachos for starter were out of this world, the serving staff couldn’t have been nicer very cheery and had a great laugh with our table think of of them was head of serving as she seemed to be in control of what was going on even though it was busy, we all had dessert some from the dessert menu and some from the wonderful cake fridge that catches your eye as soon as you walk in, honestly cannot recommend this place enough, the phone number has changed but the girl said they were having trouble getting it changed on trip advisor but they had a new Facebook (the bistro at Barry downs) page since taking over that keeps you up to date and has their new phone number as well as email address which you can also book through my whole family loved this place and we can’t wait to go back for a visit very soon.

Nice enough place and the food was good but as we arrived, we heard people complaining about the length of time they'd been waiting. A waitress the appeared at our table with her face like thunder, asked what we wanted in a very snippy voice and disappeared without making eye contact once. Food arrived (almost thrown in front of us) promptly and was hot and tasty, and then grumpy waitress reappeared and put a bill on the table, again without looking at us. As we left, we heard another couple being told that they'd run out of soup and bacon. Lunchtime on a Saturday! Very poor. Won't be back.

Popped in with the wife (who had visited earlier with a friend). Sat outside as we had the dog with us. Tea and lovely cakes went down well and the server also brought treats for the dog. Price was reasonable and the service fast and friendly and the server took a genuine interest in the dog. They offer what looks a good deal on Sunday high teas which we will take at a later date Yes a nice wee place well worth a visit. We will be back

Spent an overheated visit here during the week. Had booked and sat outside. The area was absolutely roasting due to the plastic sheeting on the roof. Fire heaters in place for cold weather, perhaps a fan for the hotter weather would be an idea. Had quite a wait, which is normal due to food being made fresh....however despite board outside inviting folk to ‘pop in’ ...three groups of people were turned away/left, being told there was a half hour wait Food was certainly enjoyable however we were just too hot and uncomfortable to enjoy it properly. Think they need to review their booking arrangements because potential customers leaving while folk are eating is not a good sign

We preorderd our food so it would be almost ready when we came back at our allotted booking time. The food was fantastic and the staff equally as good. And topped of by really good prices. Excellent value if im up that way again ill definitely pop in.

What a burger chilli and nachos. Homemade too. Dad couldn't finish it and his only critiscm was he had no room for pudding. I was good and had the feta, beetroot and strawberry salad which was delicious. Lovely friendly staff too.

this restaurant is not fine dining, but it is excellent pub grub, The staff are friendly & attentive. It does not have a license but there is a pub next door where you can get drinks & bring them into the restaurant. You may also bring your own for which there is no corkage & they will supply glasses. An excellent place for a casual meal.

Came here with my family the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it! Was much better than expected as never been here before and it’s not in a very busy location or anything, thought it would just be average but it was very good. The Cajun chicken burger was so yum. However, the waitress was run off her feet as it was so busy and she was the only one working. There are quite a lot of tables altogether but they should maybe have another back up member of staff available if needed as it may be the customer who misses out due to lack of staff. Felt sorry for her as she was having to do so much at once.

Change of management and excellent presentation by chef👍. Travelled from Ferry with my sister from Yorkshire as I used to visit regularly and it was good. Wanted a quick snack or small meal. It was all there for ordering. My sister had pasta with mushrooms lovely she said and waitress asked would she like chicken for an extra pound glad she did very good portion. My sister is so fussy but complimented the food. At eight pounds very nice. I love chilli with salad and it wasn’t on the menu but no fuss made it arrived. The salad 🥗 was beautifully presented cucumber shaped and Toms. Very nice. New owners looks like a big hit. I will return for a second verdict. Keep up the standards and you can’t go wrong.

Booked a table for a family meal tonight and turned up to find out the place was shut. No phone call to mention they were closing unexpectedly. Lucky we didn’t travel far! Will not bother coming in future.

Food and service was excellent as usual. Definitely the best authentic Italian food by miles. Veal was cooked to perfection and service was very friendly. All this at reasonable prices. What more could you want. Definitely would recommend this establishment.

Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff. Food is freshly cooked, we enjoyed some popadoms while we waited. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic Indian. Chicken tikka masala, chicken korma and the Egyptian kebab were all very tasty. Garlic and cheese naan was exceptional!

Good fresh food, although the menu isn't very varied if your looking for lunch It's in a lovely setting and there's a small play park for children. Dogs are allowed and well catered for. There's plenty parking but this is where I felt badly let down. There is no allocated disabled parking! There was a challenging walk on my crutches from the carpark to the cafe as the surface isn't very wheelchair friendly. With the space available in sure there is an easy remedy and I'm sure we'll come back for more of the good food and see if they resolve the parking for the disabled.
