Popped up from Dundee to watch one of my favourite groups Strawberrybank. My first time there and must say that I was impressed with the service.

First time here .lovely staff and really nice food ...

Quiet evening. Unfortunately it wasn't an evening of live music that I would have really enjoyed. Maybe next time. Friendly staff

First time in The Black Abbott and it was great

Great experience, freshly cooked food, good size portions, staff very friendly, good clean place, definetly recommend. We have been here now for 2 family meals and will definitely book here again 😊

Went for a charity event. "Tattie fest" ( Sat & Sun) Live entertainment from various fantastic bands. The place was bouncing. Special mention to the staff....they worked their socks off providing drinks & meals, ( which were great & excellent value for money) all with a smile!! Whether it's for a pint, or a bar meal you won't be disappointed!😉👍

What a nice welcoming friendly wee place, just popped in for a wee "hoff" to see what it was like as passed it often. Staff were very friendly and happy in the workplace.....place was very clean and organised and all kinds of seating to perch on. Pool table and dart board also....oh and live music most weekends 👌 😁They do meals also which I hope to try in the next few weeks. Considering we're not from montrose and don't know anyone, we were made very welcome 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Thank you

We attended my sisters wedding on 16/7/22,her reception was held here. Stevie and his staff did a fantastic job. The food was delishous service was fast. They were very organised.

Was there yesterday for a Xmas lunch, had it booked for weeks, was really looking forward to it, so much so we phoned the day before to make sure it was still on. Very sad to say it was really disappointing, in fact it was that bad I couldn’t even eat it. I never complain in restaurants, these people have a very difficult job to do, my son is a chef, but I told the waitress when she came over to take the full plate away, such a shame. No apologies just pay the bill.

Breakfast menu was disappointing. Full Scottish appeared to be the only option. The tea and toast arrived before our cooked breakfast. Because there weren't many there, it wasn't very warm. The cooked breakfast was quite good.

A lovely buffet held for my aunt's funeral.

Great local pub, with some good choices of beer. The last time i was there they had the Dundonian Pilsner beer on draft and its fantastic. The pool table and dart board are both good and they Football on TV 👍 Added bonus - they have live music at the weekends and the bands are usually good quality.

Went to see Brothers reed play here it’s a great friendly pub with good grub

I was at the Black Abbot because the Swizzle Sisters were performing. There was a happy early evening crowd enjoying the music, some sitting out in the sun, some playing pool, everyone having a drink. There was no food on offet that evening.

Visited the Black Abott over the Mofest, pub is OK to visit staff are nice enough and there is a decent bar menu for food

We were here during Mo Fest. A very popular bar with very friendly staff. We didn't eat so can't comment on food.

Excellent food and very friendly staff. Fish was massive and over hung the plate and izzys sticky toffee pudding was very good. I would advise you ask for a spare plate if you get the fajitas. Nowhere to make them up otherwise and the chicken is served with a sauce, so a bit different from other places. Very tasty though. Place is very family friendly with outside area, bar area and separate restaurant all have plenty of room and the locals are always in, which is always a good sign.

Eight of us had lunch , good food , very pleasant staff . Will recommend.
