Great food and good coffee! My husband had the big breakfast which was great value at $24. The rest of us had the corn fritter with bacon, pancakes and eggs Benedict. No complaints.

I was here on Saturday the 18th of February, I was in with a friend and had nothing but the most pleasant experience. The young woman that was on, was working by herself and she was so professional, polite and friendly to every single person that came in. She was helpful and got everyone served in a timely fashion even though the establishment was very very busy! Definitely an asset to the business. Homemade cheese scones WERE Homemade scones. Proper cheesy and proper good, bacon rolls out of this world too. Divine coffee, will be back for sure!! 10/10

Popped in for a light snack at lunch time , but did not expect to have such a memorable experience. The menu was varied and could be mixed to have a Meal package, I decided on a Sandwich and Soup Deal and my Wife ordered a Tea and Scone. The staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeble. When the meal order arrived the server asked who was having the soup and the sandwich ? She looked surprised when i said i ordered it as a meal, her surprise became clear when i saw the portion sizes , either would have been enough for me at the time , so i took home half the sandwich for later. My wifes Tea and scone were both plentiful , which was also surprising , as in previous visits to other places , the Tea was just about a cup full and the scone was usually on the small size , on this occassion both were plentiful ! The quality of the food was excellent and the sandwich was only made after the server took my order , ensuring that I had the sandwich made to my exact preferences. Overall a really good visit , Great Staff , the Menu was variable and affordable. We will definetly visit again when next in Banchory.

I was passing through Banchory recently for a wedding and stopped off to meet friends last week ... In a strange town where you have to take pot luck on eating I plumped for here ...and glad I did... Having read a report previously below this no doubt saying over priced and burnt I would have to say - No way ! The ladies who served me here three times in total in my stay were polite and friendly and the food excellent. It was in fact SO much better than the breakfast at the local hotel TaNaCoille I avoided breakfast there and went here. I thought it was sensible prices and good portion sizes and a nice friendly ambiance. I would highly recommend it as an eatery especially for breakfast. And that Lemon Drizzle cake was superb for the drive home - ideal accompaniment to my coffee.

Came here for lunch on a saturday lunchtime. The 1st telling sign was that it was the only coffee shop in the area that had space for us-we should have taken that as a sign not to bother. The older blonde woman behind the counter came across as rude and rather detached from serving anyone. When we asked if the bacon rolls were still available as it was now after 1pm and they were on the breakfast menu we were given a snarky yes and an eye roll. The same response was given when asked if bacon could be added to the brie panini. The young waitress looked miserable and didn't speak when serving our food. The bacon roll was cremated, it was sent back. No apology just a sigh and another eye roll. The other 3 plates had salad on them which was limp and brown. They then had the cheek to try and charge almost £25 more on our bill. They have a sign saying all the cakes are made with love...definitely wouldn't be served with happiness. Wont return here again.

Although it was half an hour to closing time, three of the four tables were still occupied. The seats are hard green plastic, although there are two comfy upholstered chairs at the window. I'm not often so impressed by a coffee shop that I feel the need to leave a review but Dee-Licious on Banchory High Street is simply brilliant. My partner and I often like to visit the countryside during our free time and like to stop for coffee and a bite to eat as part of our trip. Dee-Licious is now at the top of my list of favourite stop-offs! We both had the home-made soup (hearty vegetable broth) and a panini (pulled pork) - everything was fresh and flavourful and was exactly what we were looking for after a long walk in the beautiful countryside that surrounds this picturesque town. We were so impressed by the quality of our lunch that we couldn't leave without trying some of the home-baking on offer - a vivid array of the most beautiful cakes that I have ever had the pleasure of choosing from. I think I have found the tastiest scones in Deeside! To accompany the cakes we had both a latte and a cappuccino - both full flavoured coffees that could not be faulted. Everything we purchased was very reasonably priced and I noticed that you can even buy produce from local suppliers - such as eggs, jams and marmalades - within the café.The atmosphere of the coffee shop is laid back and friendly - the staff are welcoming and attentive and allowed us to enjoy our lunch in peace whilst people watching through the large window that looks out onto the high street - a bustling mix of colours and characters!I know we will certainly be back to enjoy this little gem and would very much recommend a visit if you are in the area - you will not be disappointed!

Even before entering and experiencing the customer service, I could see through the big glass window that the diverse mix of clientele signified the obvious welcoming nature of the staff – treat everyone as equals. Purpose: some people were there for a coffee, some to do what looked like studying, some having a good old chinwag, and some steadily filtering in and out for takeaways.Nothing pleases me more than clarity. I must have looked a tad lost when I arrived for lunch because I’ve never been here before. This was quickly rectified when I saw the easy to read, easy to follow instructions on a big sign at the till. At this café, they want you to place your order and pay at the counter. Often, the customer is in a queue at the counter, under pressure to pick lunchtime sustenance from menus on blackboards overhead, in time for their turn to be served (without holding up the queue). However, here, there are menus on the tables, so you can take a seat, make your choice, and wander up to the counter when you’re ready. We approached the bar, and were served by the person who appeared to be in charge, the owner perhaps. Friendly, nice, authoritative. My guest and I ordered separately one after the other, then returned to our bar stools at the window. We were offered the choice of paying now or at the end. The cakes and fresh scones in the display cabinet looked fabulous, therefore I decided to pay for my lunch and coffee now to avoid temptation if I had any reason to return to the counter. I was given the choice of a mug or cup and saucer for my flat white. I was actually shown the difference, and I opted for the mug (much bigger). Both our lunches were colourful: toasties with side salad as standard, and a tasty dressing in a pot for you to chuck over the salad if you want to. One small niggle – I would have liked our orders to have been served at the same time, not one after the other. But when the drinks and food were served, they were done so by a very polite young server.I could have sat there all afternoon, it was very laid back. Of course this would have increased the risk of crumbling to the call of cake. This place is named cleverly, and lives up to its intentions. And the person in charge has nailed the essence of good hospitality on the head.Dee-licious in Banchory: you’ve been served.Sometime in February 2015

This coffee shop in the centre of Banchory is tardis-like, with a surprising amount of space for customers on the inside. It is clean, warm and has a good atmosphere.Approaching the counter can be a wee bit daunting, but the homebakes we tried -- a cheese scone and an aero traybake cake -- were delicious, though my companion feared her traybake was going to fire off onto the floor as she tried to cut into it, so had to ask for assistance which was good-naturedly given.I have a disability in my hands, which made the tea procedure too much of a faff, though I imagine it is one of the things which normally attracts tea aficionados. It goes like this. The tea comes loose in a round metal sieve thing which you drop into your cup of hot water, then take out when your tea is the required strength.First you have to pour the hot water from the pot, then do the dunk procedure, then -- in my case --pour cold water from a second pot as I don't take milk. Most places just give me a tiny jug of water instead of milk. The person in charge had explained at the counter that the tea was loose and the procedure was simple and I agree it probably is for normal hands, but when the laden tray arrived I was a bit concerned and asked the young waitress to do it for me, then take everything away leaving just the cup of requested weak tea, which she did in a matter of seconds. The manager restated that the process was really very simple, so I had to explain my invisible disability a second time. The young staff were fast, friendly, efficient and very accommodating; the chairs were comfortable and every table offered a view of the world going by if you wanted it, though the provision of copies of the excellent Scots magazine was a lovely touch for solo guests or anyone waiting for a companion to finish. We almost didn't go into Dee-licious as it appeared not to have toilet facilities, but we were told the door is marked Private to stop non-customers visiting it.A few tiny touches would nudge Dee-licious into the "excellent" category it so obviously works hard to achieve.

What we received from the three very pleasant staff members present were lovely hot and tasty toasted sandwiches (I had a panini and my partner just a regular toastie) flanked by the sweetest and crispiest salad I have tasted in a long time and an absolutely gorgeous garlic dip!The dip was so Dee Licious that I asked the staff member who served us what type it was, but unfortunately it was a wholesale one so unobtainable to jo public. Will definately be back to enjoy this again though! My partner - he paid the bill no this occasion - said it was a tad pricey, but I still think it was very, very worht it!

Had lovely soup and dee-licious cheese scone here. More spacious than other tea rooms in banchory so great with the pram and very accommodating of the little one (with books and toys supplied to keep him amused)

This venue has sadly burnt down. However we stayed at the Braemar Lodge Cabins and they were absolutely 5 star

Lovely little cafe, run by volunteers. We went in for a light bite. They have a gluten free selection, which is ideal as Mrs B is coeliac. Tea came in a real tea pot 😊 Food was really tasty and reasonably priced, service very friendly. I thoroughly recommend dropping in.

So pleased this place was open during the quiet season. I've never passed without stopping off some some food. The staff are lovely and on my visit before this one, I was on the motorbike and I was experiencing the British summer.....sheltering from the torrential rain the time passed by quickly thanks to a friendly fella manning the gift shop and some nice food. This time I just made it in time for a full breakfast - very welcome after being blinded by low level morning sun all the way from Inverness then dodging the ice in minus 6 degrees C once I hit the ski roads. Bloody marvellous! proper sausage, the black pudding was really tasty and everything was hot. I managed to bag an extra fried egg after many apologies from the lady serving me that the chef had managed to burst my yolk twice so they put both on as an a sorry. I ordered a black coffee which was one of those espresso machine jobbies I really hate for their harshness but this was pretty god. I didn't realise they did cafetieres until the very well spoken gent on a nearby table asked for one! Next time then. Love this place, makes the dreadful quality of the roads seem worth it...in such a remote area it's a gem and the prices are good, too!

This place is a good bit out of the way in the Royal Deeside area, but it’s well worth seeking out for a tasty breakfast or lunch. We stopped off on a Sunday lunchtime. As usual, it was busy. But thankfully, having been here several times, we knew to book. Saw some disappointed looking people who hadn’t. The food here is consistently great. The firm favourite for us, is there soup and panini combo. A true bargain for just under a tenner. What’s so great about it, is that the soups of the day frequently change. On this day, I had the carrot and coconut, my wife had the tomato and basil. Both were fabulous. Bursting with flavour, as we have come to expect. My panini with tomato, pesto, and mozzarella, was delicious. My wife’s roasted vegetable and hummus one, just as tasty. The service here is excellent. The ideal balance of friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. It’s a fairly compact place, with space on the ground and balcony levels, as well as decent sized outdoors area, for summer days, and people with dogs. This is a firm favourite for people in the know. But be sure to book in advance.
