Evening meal in the restaurant. Menu limited to three options including self service carvery roast for £14.50. Choice of three meats, roast spuds, roasted root veg and cauliflower cheese. No greens, over cooked veg and a tray bake of tasteless stuffing. Poor quality and poor value. Waitress was busy walking around but cleverly avoided eye contact which meant placing a food order took some time. A drinks order for red wine did arrive with glasses and bottle which was poured only to be told she was unable to take or serve a beer. Err? In all, a bizarre experience. My recommendation, go elsewhere until the food improves, the staff training improves and the menu prices become more realistic. BTW, the house red wine at £28 is laughable. Better choices in Braemar just along the road.

We had just arrived in Braemar for a weeks holiday and tried here - we hadn’t booked but they were able to fit us in. I had the pate to start and my boyfriend had the Salmon tian, both lovely. He had the burger, and I had the chicken kiev - which was excellent! Loved it so much we booked a table for the following week.

Just spent a couple of nights midweek at this lovely former hunting lodge near Glenshee. Apparently under new management we were personally welcomed by the owners at reception. The hotel was spotless, comfortable and friendly. There are lodges in the grounds for groups, but we stayed in the main hotel. The staff were excellent and very helpful, a real family feel to the place. We chose to dine in the restaurant in the evenings rather than go out, WOW what a good decision that was, 5* food. The specials were a treat, apparently the same chef from before. An all round lovely visit, will be definitely be going back.

When you come across a restaurant that meets every expectation it’s a rare occasion. The Lodge in Braemar has a lot going for it, great location, looks the part, very tasteful decor, parking availability and gives off the right vibes. The food is excellent. It’s a small menu which allows the chef to perfect his dishes. It doesn’t disappoint. We each had three courses and all were cooked to perfection, presentation was great and tasted spot on. The service was very good and we were made to feel special and welcome. A trip to the whiskey bar afterwards is an absolute must. Well done to all at The Lodge.

So much to say about this amazing place. We visited during the time of the Braemar Gathering, whilst the whole of Braemar is exceptionally busy, but the lodge managed to maintain extremely high standards. From the moment we walked in the welcome was warm and friendly. The combined service throughout was impeccable nothing was to much trouble and was always delivered with a smile. As for the food, the standards delivered by the 2 chefs was amazing. My partner and I each had different choices and all of them never failed to deliver. The deconstructed lemon meringue pie got 10 out of 10.Recommend the lodge is defiantly worth a visit. Walk in dinner for 4. The place busied up after about 7pm. The dining area is a quite brightly lit large bar traditionally done and it feels that you are in a looked after place.Food is no doubt of high quality, freshly made and fresh. It’s a wee bit more expensive than usual pub fare but the quality speaks for its self and you get what you pay for. The pie was lovely, the chicken was also great with fresh veg or salad and the chips were fantastic. Descent kids menu.Although I didn’t have any it looked like a fantastic selection of whiskey behind the well stocked bar!!The waiter too was polite and extremely helpful - friendly staff help make the evening.I was impressed and would go back.

After 3 weeks in the UK it was good to finally have a proper serving of veg. Was tired of the chips oh and chips served with salad which is not a salad but a garnish. Anyway we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. One was off the Specials Menu which I was informed changes daily - the Baked Goat cheese which came as as small sort of souffle with root vegetables, broccoli and the addition of sweet chilli sauce!! I thought probably unnecessary but it was actually very nice; the second meal was the Chicken fillet in a cream sauce with roast veg, yipee.Excellent staff service. No cheap eats in Braemar if you want a sit down meal Braemar Lodge no different.

This is probably the best place in town to have a nice meal and it is on the border of being considered upscale. The menu on the website is out of date and even the menu you are handed is basically overruled by the sheet of daily specials, some of which replace things in the menu once you ask. But, the ambience is great and the food is prepared well. I can speak for the seafood dishes in particular. Local bottled beer and a large bar.

Hier klopt alles. I had visited the hotel some weeks prior to coming with a dozen or so friends for a meal and had discussed our arrangements with the very helpful Fiona. Plans for the day meant we were to arrive before the normal opening time and it was readily agreed that staff could be brought in early to accommodate our needs. Partly due to poor weather, we arrived even earlier than planned, yet we were made welcome and, with a warming log fire, Fiona quickly opened the bar and made sure we were served promptly. Dinner menus were soon brought to us and we were impressed with the wide choice on offer. We were led through to the dining room where our table was ready and we went on to enjoy a really tasty and well-presented meal. The service was excellent with friendly and helpful staff and both food and drinks were well priced. This was really good hospitality and drew much favourable comment from those who were there.

We enjoyed a drink in the cosy bar before moving through to eat. I am not vegetarian, but the specials had tempting options that happened to be vegetarian and were brilliant.Service was good even with a full dining room.

I came here last minute on a Sunday afternoon as part of a big group of 14 adults and 3 children. The team were unfazed, very accommodating and put a table together for us within 5 minutes. We all went for the carvery which I have to say is the best carvery I've ever had. The beef was unbelievably tender and absolutely delicious. The choice of veg and sides we could help ourselves to were perfect for a big traditional Scottish Sunday dinner. I cannot recommend the carvery highly enough. I also had a dessert of ice cream which again was delicious and was part of the 2 courses for £16 deal. The service was fantastic given the size of our group, as was the food. If you're passing through Braemar, please consider this place for a nice meal and a drink. You won't be disappointed.

We went for dinner - husband had balmoral chicken and loved it, even the haggis stuffing; I had the game pie (three types of game) and it was superb. Braemar Lodge is an old style inn and the dining room decor is a bit basic and dated, but service was good and we were very happy with the food. Would go back.

Excellent restaurant serving lovely food, especially well presented on the plate, at reasonable prices. All cooked to order, but waiting times not over-long.

We had heard from the manager that this was 'the best place to eat in Braemar' so we're expecting something fabulous. True, the food was tasty - in particular the vegetarian lasagne - but both this and the game pie were more what I'd call 'pub food' than the top restaurant dishes they were priced at. So overall we thought the restaurant was good and definitely worth recommending, just not top notch.

This was our 3rd visit for a meal here. And as on the 2 previous visits there was nobody at reception or at the restaurant entrance to greet us, confirm our reservation or show us to our table. There seemed to be nobody in charge. We had to look for a member of staff, who seemed to have no idea of what was happening. The only reason we have returned 3 times in spite of this is the excellent food.

Lovely little cafe, run by volunteers. We went in for a light bite. They have a gluten free selection, which is ideal as Mrs B is coeliac. Tea came in a real tea pot 😊 Food was really tasty and reasonably priced, service very friendly. I thoroughly recommend dropping in.

A wonderful lunch we did not plan the visit and they were able to accommodate us. A great choice was available to meet a variety of needs. We opted for the fritters (black pudding and haggis) as a starter to share. This was delightful. The main courses were equally good with mother in law having beef lasagne whilst the Hunters chicken beckoned me. Well worth a trip

We are now regulars at the Seafield Arms as it is so good. It was my birthday and where else would we go for a special meal. This time, we tried the surf and turf block. We were not disappointed as the seafood and steak were cooked to perfection. As well as the fresh local vegatable selection. The hotel manager had to get up at 4am to get the lobster. That is dedication to perfection. Our friend had a sirloin steak, cooked to her satisfaction. Our daughter had the mac and cheese and was more than happy. The girls finished the meal with sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee. Yum Yum. The service was professional and very friendly. We have a concern, what will we have to eat the next time as it is all so good.

My Husband and I were at the Tina/Cher Tribute last night at the Drumlithie Inn. This is such a lovely, cosy place. Our meal was lovely, I had the fish and chips and my Husband had the Steak Pie (lots of steak) we both really enjoyed our meal. My Husband then managed to squeeze in an Eve’s Pudding and custard which I tasted and it was delicious! The Tribute was very good and the “Happy Atmosphere” was amazing! Everyone was so friendly, it was like one Big Happy Party! 🥳 Would definitely recommend a visit David and Ian are always so Friendly and Happy to Help at all times, nothing is a bother to them. Well done guys!! Keep up the great job you are doing. 👍👏
