Lovely restaurant, fabulous menu, reasonable prices. Very busy, staff friendly. Wish we could have left a tip but their card machine doesn’t accept anything but the total cost of bill

This was the best restaurant I have visited in many a year! Difficult to know where to start with my praise! Ok, the terraced house surroundings is not great, but the minute we walked in that was forgotten. Wonderful surroundings, a perfect waiting area until our table was ready, at the time we booked, and from then on, all so very good! The waiting staff, the manager, the atmosphere, and the food - all so very good! The only reason we won’t return soon is that we’re visiting yachtsmen and will be off soon. The best carbonara I’ve tasted

We ate twice at Scarista House Restaurant during our recent trip to Harris. We have dined here before on previous visits over the last 20 years and this year it was better than ever. Beautifully prepared local food. First menu - Twice baked cheese soufflé, followed by Stornoway landed hake in a delicious sauce and some delicious vegetables. and then a chocolate roulade!. Second menu - goats cheese, courgette and cheese raviol with a nettle pesto (amazing!) followed by local hand dived scallops and the most delicious lemon tart with excellent pastry, lemon verbena ice cream and a strawberry and pink peppercorn coulis. Fabulous! Highly recommend the cooking here! An absolute delight!

30 James StreetWe came across this place as it was recommended on North Harbour restaurant’s Facebook page and boy we were not disappointed! We had the lobster and chorizo bisque and scallops to start- both of which were out of this world. For mains we had fish, which was fresh and beautifully presented and the venison steak which was so soft and juicy. Ginger and date pudding was a glutinous extra but we couldn’t resist how good it looked on a neighbouring table - fluffy, tasty and rich. :) We can’t wait to come back already!

9 West KilbrideA good cafe for breakfast and lunches serving basic fare ( everything with chips !) and home baking. Open from 8.30 am until last food orders at 3 pm. I had a bacon and black pudding roll which contained a substantial slice of Stornoway black pudding. Waited 20 minutes for it despite the cafe being almost empty. The cafe has an outdoor deck with views over the sea and it is adjacent to the Kilbride campsite.It has free WiFi.

Heathbank HotelStunning view and friendly, efficient staff in a small family-run hotel. The quality of food was excellent, but fully grown humans may wish to order two main courses each, such was the rather miserly amount of actual food - scallops and monkfish respective.y - on our plates. Top marks for presentation and taste, but would have loved a little more.

Ate lunch here severally times when visiting Vatersay beach. Soup and various cakes need a special mention. Staff really friendly.
