Loved popping in to this gem in the Cairngorms. Had a delicious lunch and loved sitting in the cosy restaurant looking out into garden center. The little shop is all ready for Halloween and Christmas so was tempted to buy a few bits and bobs and should never have gone into the good market. Such tasty Italian biscuits and goodies. A really lovely place for afternoon lunch
Having lived at the campsite over 20 years ago, I was excited to go to the cafe and see how it had changed. I left very disappointed
The outside of the building was drab and badly in need of a paint. We walked in to the cafe and most of the tables were covered in dirty plates and cups. From half way to the counter a young girl informed us loudly that they were no longer serving food (around 3pm) and we could only have take out coffee but no choice of milk (only looking for semi skimmed too !) The toilets were all empty of toilet roll and not particularly clean.
It was a hive of industry a few years ago with a lovely shop too. I won't be in a rush to go back.
¡Grosero!
No volverá.
We went here for my son's birthday, it's great to have such a nice Italian restaurant in our town. We hadn't booked but were welcomed in, and I'll say they could not do enough for us. Genuinely such a warm welcome and my little boy really appreciated it.
Food wise my daughter enjoyed her pepperoni pizza, my son loved his cheese pizza, I thought my arrabiata was pretty good and my wife's tagliatelle was okay. I recommend the focaccia which was amazing, although my wife thought her arancini was just fine.
I'd probably rate it as a 4 but we left it to the birthday boy who rated it a 5, and I was happy to rate it as a 5 because everyone was so welcoming. They do have a 2 course meal deal between 5 and 6 on certain days so I'd definitely recommend.
Lovely coffee shop. We were sitting outside in the drizzle with 2 very wet dogs, and the lovely waiter brought our coffees out and told us that we could happily go inside with the dogs if we wanted! Lovely coffee shop with really tasty coffee!!
Lovely venue with beautifully poured Guinness and complimentary snacks. Natasha and Ellie literally blew me away with their service. Could not recommend more.
Great little gem we came across by accident, so friendly, such nice food very reasonably priced and the staff are great. I believe its just reopened after a refurb and its lovely and clean and warm. We will be back
What a unexpected gem. Passed it numerous times but the first time today we popped in. So pleased we did, super staff, lovely homemade light lunches, and fabulous cakes and scones on offer. Plus excellent local coffee to top it.
Even bought a couple of Christmas presents too.
I can certainly recommend (dog friendly too!). We'll definitely be popping in next time we're passing.
Absolutely lovely little coffee shop, waited a little while as they had forgotten about our order but was given two custard tarts by way of apology. Coffee and tarts were beautiful. Will definitely be back.
I'm a regular at the smokery next door and have been wanting to try the restaurant for some time. A limited menu, but the food was absolutely fine, only suggestion there would be that if you're serving an entire fish it's always helpful to have a second plate to deposit the bones. Service was the real let-down though. Door was opened by a young man who knew the right words to welcome people but did so in a very detached sort of way - efficient enough but small talk, or even normal pleasantries, definitely not encouraged. His female colleague was a bit more personable, but easily distracted by a succession of males who seemed to be working outside and kept coming and going through an external kitchen door to have a bit of a flirt with her. Almost certainly not in line with kitchen hygiene to be entering in dirty work clothes, and I don't really want to pay to have a meal while listening to them chatting each other up.
