Mimi's Picnic Parlour in Edinburgh, City of

Came here as they made my husbands birthday cake in April. Loved the cake so had to try the bakery. Had scone, cupcake and drinks. Everything was freshly made and very tasty. 5 stars. When in Edinburgh again, we would come here again and well recommended.

Nous sommes allés chez Mimi's Little Bakehouse situé sur Canongate en plein centre historique d'Edimbourg. Charmant salon de thé/pâtisserie proposant de delicieuses pâtisseries (shortbread millionaire, cupcakes, brownie, ricekrispie...) et de bonnes boissons chaudes. Le chai latte est très bon. Bonne adresse assez réputée qui ne désemplit pas. Accueil qui pourrait être cependant plus chaleureux!

Tipica bakeri sulla royal mile, buonissimo il chai latte, ottimi i paninetti al formaggio, prezzi un pò altini, locale piccolissimo ma accogliente, da provare una volta.

Lovely cozy cafe on Canongate, offering a great selection of sweets and pastries. We had coffee and scones - a wonderful spontaneous stop for mini-lunch.

We both had hacot cross scone with cream and jam and hot chocolate - scrumpy yum delicious. Say no more although I need 100 characters so have to say it again - scrumpy yum delicious!

Great food in beautiful surroundings. Although quite small we found no difficulty in getting a table and the place itself feels roomy with lots of space between tables. Tea/coffees and buns were bought and all were to an extremely high quality…..will be back!!!

Visited today for French toast and was so thankful as was using an expired voucher which they were happy to still take and as it was a Thursday we bought one French toast and got the other for £1. As the voucher amount was much higher than our order we brought scones and cakes home which have all been delicious. Lovely staff and amazing French toast with bacon and maple syrup for me and biscoff and banana for my daughter we both give you 10/10. Thanks

in questo minuscolo cafe' servono dei dolci favolosi e degli sconosciuti, che io adoro, fantastici. io ne ho ordinati di due tipi diversi e comunque ne sarebbe bastato uno perché sono enormi, vengono serviti con burro e marmellata. io li ho accompagnati ad uno scenografico cappuccino. l'atmosfera fantastica.

A lovely little cafe but sadly the brownie I had was just very dry, the coffee wasn’t brilliant and my girlfriends scone was “ok”

This was on our list of things to do in Edinburgh as loved the look of the tray bakes and cupcakes we was not disappointed!.

This was the best place I had scones and coffee while in EDI for a week- the staff was super friendly- the coffee, tea, scones, clotted cream and jam was incredible.

We went for breakfast but the menu had changed and they no longer offered a lot of the options including the French toast, pancakes or waffles. They did fancy beans on toast and soup for breakfast. After we had three cakes. There were ok but nothing special. A little pricey, wouldn't recommend.

My dad and I stopped here for a latte and cake. I had some shortbread biscuits and my dad attempted to have a lemon and raspberry loaf cake. Unfortunately I beat him to it! Lovely little cafe

I recently had friends over visiting from Dubai and while out exploring the city we stopped in at Mimi's on the Royal Mile. Having taken cakes back to Dubai with me for the girls to try they were not disappointed on their visit in person. We had a jammy dodger slice, sticky toffee cupcake and a cheese scone to share between us. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The girls have since sent boxes to their families down south and another box has been duly taken back to the Sandpit with us! Definitely worth a visit when in Edinburgh.

Amazing cakes & treats. Great for sitting inside or takeaway. A huge variety of treats to choose from. All of which have been superb.

They were super busy when we came, so opted to take away. The stars went to the service which was rather friendly. The brownie was pretty good but the cake (toffee?) left much to be desired - heavy, overly sweet and the icing was so sugary and sandy.

We happened to find this little bakery on the Royal Mile. There is not much room to eat in, so we took our goodies out and found a park to sit in. We had Biscoff brownies which were amazing!

Towards the end of a big day exploring the Royal Mile, we happened by the Little Bakeshop just minutes before they closed. The staff was very sweet and welcoming- much appreciated. We took treats to go. Scones and cupcakes- all delicious!

We were passing and the cakes looked amazing so we went in. Ordered 2 coffees. My wife chose a stick toffee muffin and it was very good. I ordered a fresh fruit scone. When it came it hand been warmed. In fact it was steaming hot. The one thing I detest is warmed scones. If they are going to warm scones then they should ask the customes if they want warmed scones. I would have declined .Also be aware there are no toilet facilities.

We came across this place while visiting Edinburgh and loved it! We visited twice during our 3 days. They have a variety of cakes to choose from which all look amazing. Would love one of these down in Wales

It was pouring with rain and I saw some amazing looking cakes through the window so figured I'd go in and take a closer look!Really tiny place with a few tables and a really large selection of amazing looking cupcakes and other treats.We shared a piece of biscoff brownie which was big and had loads of biscoff spread on top which was really nice. Also got a Jammie Dodger slice which was like an amazing blondie but also had a layer of chewy jam in the middle. Was one of the nicest things I've eaten in a really long time.Highly recommend a visit here for some amazing treats!

Stopped here for a little rest and a piece of cake whilst exploring. I had a pot of tea and a (very generous) piece of Lotus Biscoff brownie. My partner had a nice latte and a caramel Freddo cake. Both were really nice and set us up for some more sightseeing that afternoon.

Stopped off for coffee and cake after reading reviews. Whilst only small with limited seating it was well worth the visit. The scone jam and clotted cream was delicious the rainbow sprinkle cake was so light and tasty. Reasonably priced. Good selection of cakes well worth a stop.

We called in today on our way up to Holyrood , we had tea, plain scones with jam and cream they were so beautifully fresh and delicious, would recommend .

We were staying just opposite this place, so from the first day we arrived in Edinburgh I knew I had to go there. When we visited it, I had the best scone I ever ate, with such a tasty homemade marmalade! And the raspberry hot chocolate I had was excellent! :)

I recently posted a review regarding an undelivered Afternoon Tea. We received an apology and have since enjoyed a delicious selection of sandwiches, scones and a lovely cakes. It was a very enjoyable experience. Will not hesitate to book again.

Oh my goodness this one of the best little bakeries! Lovely staff and the custard cream tray bake is to die for! The best traybake I’ve ever had. It’s a good job I live so far away or I’d be in here every day!

Awrite the coffee was brewed well & they have helpful smiling staff. (didn’t ask the ladies name) They sure had some delicious sweet treats(not for the diabetics me). I would go back again ☕️

Il y a plein de délicieux gâteaux ! Le choix est difficile à faire. Nous en avons pris 3 pour 2 et 2 cafés. Les cafés étaient bons mais surtout les gâteaux gourmands et excellents! Nous y reviendrons certainement lors de notre prochain séjour à Édimbourg.

Visited with a friend to get coffee and had the most delicious scones, stayed until closing and was offered free ones to take home with us. Loveliest staff ever and extremely welcoming! Can’t wait to go back

I stopped for cappuccino and scones. The scones were...I don't even have words! Mmmmmarvellous!! Unfortunately I can't say the same for the cappuccino, didn't taste and had no foam. You really should catch up with the coffee because I am still dreaming of those scones

Got caught up in the travel delays due to storm Ciara. Being a bit lost we popped in the Mimi’s and experienced the best breakfast and coffee in Edinburgh, 2 days running. This compensated for the dismal weather and England’s rugby performance. The ‘anything’ on toast is a delight. The cleanliness and great music are an added bonus.

Me and girlfriend had a little stop here and so glad we did, we both had a Bishscof brownie and they were so goooood!! Girlfriend quoted it was the best brownie she has ever had!! Would reccomend stooping here for a quick sweet treat/snack if your close by!!

Stopped here on the way back from Arthur's Seat because we were cold and tired, and it was the ideal place to go. Lots of amazing cakes and teas in a warm and friendly atmosphere. There were vegan options too which were great - I'd personally recommend the Biscoff Brownie.

Amazing cakes to choose from all made on site, but I went with the scone clotted cream and jam and I have never tasted anything like it. It was huge but so light and airy and with just enough homemade jam and plenty of clotted cream to go on top. Perfect.

Such a perfect place to pause from the busy royal mile in beautiful Edinburgh, the staff where so nice and attentive and our cakes and coffee/tea perfect. Some lovely choices to choose from.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch here while Xmas shopping. The staff were lovely and everything we had was delicious.

My wife and I stepped into Mimi's on a cold rainy winter day, and got the soup of the day (carrot, parsnip and coconut), a scone, coffee and hot chocolate. The soup was delicious, served piping hot with a side of good bread, and a good size serving too. The scone was very nice too, served with a side of marmalade and butter. The hot chocolate was prepared with soy milk as we requested; both drinks were excellent.

Lovely wee cafe serving interesting soups, delicious cakes, scones fit to fill anyone up and a range of eteaket teas. Service comes with a smile. Tap water is readily available, help yourself. Something which I am not alone in appreciating. A great place to have a quick cuppa before getting on a train... or to sit down and sort yourself out a but after getting off one

Really nice small coffee place with great options for cakes and brownies! All of them look amazing. We had coffee and a small cake. Staff is incredible, definitely a great place to stop by!

Stopped there for tea and cake - it took me 10 min to decide what to order... So much choice! Settled for the peanut brownie which was incredible. Would definitely return!

The food looked delicious but we only had coffee and cake which was also nice. The place is tiny and would probably only hold about 12 people comfortably.. the staff were lovely!

We were told by an employee at Edinburgh castle that Mimi's had great scones and sandwiches. We planned to walk along the Royal Mile anyway, so decided to make Mimi's our lunch stop. We were not disappointed!

Came in with my friend to grab some coffees and cake. The cakes were incredible, and the girl that served us, didn’t catch her name (she had glasses and dark hair) but her service was incredible, so friendly and gave honest recommendations on cakes as there was so much to choose from. :)

These scones - best scones all over UK and US! Great taste - we had fruit and spiced pumpkin - and fresh and fluffy + fine clotted cream and marmalade!

We’re currently still at Mimis Bakehouse and just finished absolutely delicious, fluffy, fresh scones - they even have a pumpkin spice variety if you’re basic like me. They also do milk alternatives and have the nicest staff. Really good spot to rest for a bit while sightseeing!

Brilliant selection of baked goods, tasty soups and really good sandwiches. There is rarely any places to eat in as it is so popular but always worth the wait or it's easier just to take away. We always go there when coming to Edinburgh!

Really lovely afternoon visit to this charming little cafe. All of the cakes were really fresh and tasty. I loved the biscoff brownie - highly recommended. 100% worth a visit here, I can see it getting packed very very quickly

Lovely selection of cakes! All good portion sizes. Brownies are incredible! Very chocolatey and huge pieces! Loads of different drinks available although slightly expensive but a jug of tap water available. Lovely place to enjoy a cake away from busy Edinburgh city!

Very nice selection of cupcakes and sweets, the service by the staff could be a bit friendlier but a must try.

My partner and I visited Edinburgh for the end of the Fringe. I had the rainbow cake and my partner had a banana and caramel cake. Fantastic service and would definitely visit again.

We stopped for coffee and cake, mid afternoon, after walking along the Royal Mile. The Iced Coffee was good. They have an amazing selection of cupcakes, brownies, scones etc. We were lucky to get a table to relax and enjoy our drinks.

Durante mi última visita a Edimburgo probé brownies y pasteles en muchos cafés y panaderías (sí, los amo), y Mimi's tuvo lo mejor. De hecho, sus brownies también tienen un valor excelente, con precios razonables para brownies muy grandes. Su personal también fue muy amable.

Me encanta este local, pequeño y coqueto . El unico problema es elegir cual de los cupcakes o pastas disponibles se desea degustar, aunque siempre queda la opcion de llevarte alguno a casa.

We came in on a rainy day and we highly recommend the cupcakes. It is a tiny and cosy cafe and a great service.

Looks a quaint little cafe and the staff were very friendly but. I paid the bill and for instance a Raspberry cordial and Soda water was £3.5 disgusting price. The coffee was tasteless.

This is a tiny little cafe which makes great cupcakes. I love their Raspberry and Nutella cupcakes unfortunately they had none when I went this year on my annual pilgrimage . I did not enjoy the banoffee cupcake but the coffee was great as always.

We visit Edinburgh every year for the festival and always try to visit at least one branch of Mimi’s!! They’re not cheap but quality is excellent. This year we only managed to get to their stall at Bristo square but that was still great! Over the duration of our trip we sampled a Nutella brownie, a snickers brownie, a chocolate fudge cake shake, a strawberry cake shake and a red velvet cake shake and all of them were amazing!!! Can’t wait for next year...!

We wanted to skip the big chains and find somewhere that seemed more family run and local for a drink and a cake.

Prima colazione in terra scozzese ed è molto probabile che ci torneremo! Localino intimo e con ambientazione boho, ha un vasto assortimento di cupcakes e caffè fra cui scegliere. La vera chicca è lo scone (anche plain, ma è migliore con la frutta secca!), servito con una crema al formaggio dolce (l'equivalente del mascarpone) e marmellata di frutti di bosco. Accompagnato con un cappuccino è il massimo per iniziare col piede giusto una giornata all'insegna della scoperta di Edimburgo. Da non sottovalutare anche il rapporto qualità/prezzo: 2 cappucci + 2 scones (che sono sufficienti fino ad ora di pranzo... e oltre!) sono circa 12 sterline.

A wonderful place to stop in just a wee bit further down the royal mile but worth it. Coffees and teas and home baked treats. Absolutely loved my lemon scone! And their take out boxes are adorable and environmentally friendly. Take out is definitely popular.

This little shop on Canongate is the perfect spot for tea and something sweet. Prices are reasonable, quality ingredients, and friendly service. Fantastic scones, and the best raspberry jam I’ve had in years. Loved this place!

I cupcake mangiati in questo posto sono letteralmente divini! Varietà di scelta e davvero freschi. Sono stata in questo locale due volte e che dire? Mi sono trovata benissimo.. da italiana posso dire che qui ho bevuto il miglior caffè del posto! Approvato!

Locale piccolo ma molto accogliente. Lo staff molto gentile. Caffè espresso il migliore della città e che dire degli Scones buonissimi accompagnati con la loro marmellata sono super. Cup cake buonissimi. Sarà il mio punto di riferimento quando tornerò ad Edimburgo

Popped in here for some cakes to take home . Got a fudge brownie ,scone ,Nutella slice and Maltesers slice . All of which have been amazing .Genuinely think this is the best bakers I have tried and I have tried a lot . Staff are lovely too . Can’t wait to come back and sit down .

Mimi's Little Bakehouse ist ein super süßes kleines Café. Es war immer viel Betrieb dort, daher hatten wir Kaffee und Kuchen to go, aber das hat sich mehr als gelohnt.Sehr lecker, tolle Auswahl! Absolut empfehlenswert, wenn man in Edinburgh ist!

We came in for a couple of desserts and they were delicious. You can also buy soups and sandwiches. The worker was nice and friendly. There is limited seating inside but we took ours to go to eat in a park. There is a beautiful fake flower wreath around the entrance, which is good for a picture.

Most delicious scones I had in Scotland. There were more variety of scones than other bakeries or cafes I visited. The raspberry coconut scone was to die for. Very cute little cafe.

I was staying at a hotel very close to Mimi's, so went there for breakfast. The scones are literally to die fir, huge and delicious. Ask for clotted cream (more like a sweet butter spread) and jam. The cappuccino was excellent, and I never drink coffee. Highly recommended for a quick and delicious breakfast when on the go. Staff are extremely kind and helpful. Five stars.

For sit-in (if you can find a seat) or takeaway, this is worth the visit. The good is fantastic. They clearly label gluten free or vegan options, and have stuff that is neither of those. We had sandwiches, which were great and had to come back the next day to try different ones and pick up some baked goodies.

This fantastic cafe and bakery was close to our hotel so we went for breakfast one morning and then had takeaway cakes on another afternoon.

Logeant dans l'Adagio à 200m, nous avons découvert la boutique à la recherche d'un petit déjeuner. Les scones sont exceptionnels et moelleux. Le gros plus est que la proposition de beurre et de confiture pour les accompagner. Excellente adresse.

Really nice little bakehouse with a large variation of cakes and toasts. We tried the mint slice and Nutella slice. The mint one was so delicious, the Nutella one did not taste of Nutella unfortunately . However the scones are worth a try. Very sweet staff

The cappuccino and the nutella hot chocolate were fantastic! We also enjoyed the cheese and chive scone. A great place to step off the Royal Mile and have a quiet breakfast!

Good variety of sweet delights for afternoon tea/coffee. Quant little café with the home feel located on the Royal Mile. There's another just outside Waverley Station too.

A great selection of cakes and slices such as a malteaser slice, rocky road, cupcakes and brownies. If you like chocolate definitely the place the go, lots of choice of chocolate type cakes. We enjoyed the bakes so much we went back the next day to try so more!

Buscamos la pastelería de Mimi después de que la señora lo recomendara en la recepción de nuestro hotel. Tomamos un café y un delicioso bollo cada uno. Había preciosos pasteles, cheesecakes y bizcochos, pero nunca los probé. La próxima vez en Edimburgo definitivamente buscará un mimi para probar algo más.

Good soep and scones. I’m not a huge cupcake fan so can’t comment on those. Place is a bit small so it fulls up quickly. In the morning there is more choice.
