Good food overlooking the marina in croabh haven. The menu had lots to choose from and staff were very helpful. Be careful to check opening times especially out with high season.

So... you have this fantastic location and a fairly well-off clinetele and all you can manage is frozen food. On top of all that - you're right next to the sea. No decent seafood. I suspect even the 'local' mussels were from the local Co-op in Loch Gilphead or the local Tesco in Oban.

We were delighted with the varied menu, the service and the quality of the food - so much that we returned later that week! As a group of 9 (6 adults and 3 young kids ) we were initially worried about the suitability of the venue for us but the staff made us very welcome and were great with the kids.

Having been here several times over the 5 years pre Covid, I was really looking forward to enjoying my birthday meal here with my wife. We made a 2 hour detour just to come here, but what a disappointment! My Cullen skink starter was basically a bowl of smoky tasting cream with some raw onion spread over the top. I had mussels for the main, they were supposed to come with crusty bread - I found the bread in with the mussels rather than on a separate plate, and it definitely wasn’t crusty! My wife had the langoustines which we were asked if she wanted hot or cold. She ordered them hot - when they arrived the shells were warm, but the meat inside was cold. When I mentioned this to the staff I was told “we have quite an executive chef” and when I explained that my wife was a food safety consultant she just stuck her nose in the air. I did ask the waitress if the place had changed hands since Covid and she confirmed that it was under new management. What used to be a lovely pub restaurant is worse than a Wetherspoons but at three times the price. The service was friendly, but poor as we had our food and drink delivered with no time between courses to allow the food to digest. Add to that, their fire exit was half blocked by a table, the fire extinguisher was on the floor with no signage and the illuminated fire exit sign wasn’t illuminated. Not safe for food, not safe for fire and very disappointing all round. I won’t be coming back unless it changes hands again or they get a decent chef rather than an”executive” one.

The reason being, we phoned to make a booking for dinner as part of a much needed break following lockdown over the last year. I rang to book a meal for two, 1-2 weeks before visiting, and after a long drive we arrived. They had no record of our booking despite me recalling the conversation with the woman I spoke to. So I would recommend if you make a booking, get it in writing as the phone service is not reliable. We had to return to our Air BnB without dinner. Very disappointing.

In good weather, there can’t be many places that could beat this location for drinks or dining out. We had a table booked inside but opted for a free table on the the terrace. We ate early enough to avoid the midgies and generally the food was good. The fresh mussels from Mull were excellent but the chicken fajitas were a little disappointing. I had the oysters with a bloody mary shot to begin and my partner had the salt and pepper squid. Both were delicious. We both opted for moules mariniere for our main and we were not disappointed. I have never seen a bigger portion of mussels, served in a delicious broth and with bread and fries. They were sensational. A fortuitous find and a fabulous one.

This was our first visit to a restaurant after COVID lockdown when restrictions were lifted. We walked from Ardfern to Lord of the isles and it was worth the walk. Chivonne was our main waitress and provided outstanding service, although the other staff were also very attentive. I am a gluten free vegetarian and Chivonne spoke to the chef and came back with several different options for me, I had a specially made tomato risotto and then gluten free hot choc fudge cake, mmmmmm, my husband had a starter of oysters with Bloody Mary shot made with gin instead of vodka, Chivonne recommended pouring a small amount onto the oysters, my husband said they were wonderful, he then had battered fish and chips with peas, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I might add the main courses and the pudding we had were very big portions.Good food, attentive and friendly staff.

Arrived on a dark autumnal night having checked website for location. Satnav was problematic and we went off the main road onto a track but luckily saw the warning to “ignore satnav”. So we then found the correct road and a mile and a bit later arrived on the shore. The staff were very welcoming and allowed our well-behaved spaniel to sit with us and gave him a bowl of water. The food was very nice: I had the scampi and chips, my daughter a home-made pizza which she loved and my wife the venison ragu. Desserts were very good and the beer and wine too. I visited this restaurant on Thursday 3 October in the morning. My granddaughter had just been for a riding lesson at the nearby, and excellent, Lunga riding stables. LOTI had barely opened but we were welcomed in and as it was a cold autumnal morning the lady brought a fan heater to provide additional warmth for the children after the outside chill. That was just such a kind and thoughtful gesture. We ordered tea and muffins and were served promptly and efficiently, it was excellent value for money and i recommend it strongly to others.

We have a meal here every time we holiday in the area so know the restaurant well. It's essential to book during peak summer months as we have been turned away in the past. Although the food is usually excellent, I would say it was maybe only a 7 out of 10 this time. I was so disappointed with the Moules Mariniere. They are normally out of this world here, but this time the sauce just wasn't right at all. Not sure what they had done differently this time but it was a real disappointment. It was watery and totally lacking in flavour . The Cullen skink, and LOTI burger however were excellent. The kids' haddock and chips was good but they have really reduced size of fish for the kids over the years- portion size too small now. Overall, a nice meal and really hope the disappointing mussels was just a one-off. I'll still order them again next time!!

Can’t express how BAD this place is! TERRIBLE service. The MOST IGNORANT staff I have ever encountered! Quite happy to take our cash for drinks, but then TOLD to vacate our table, not asked, because they had bookings later. We were informed we could sit in the pool room or sit outside if we wanted to stay! When we went to the pool room and pulled 2 tables together we were told we couldn’t do that so, presumably, our party of eight was supposed to sit at several small tables rather than be in the single larger group we had previously been in. Happy to take your money but pathetic service. The older woman serving is simply dreadful! Will, the manager, is very good at looking for support for gaining awards for the establishment. Perhaps he should concentrate on staff training and thereafter awards might come. As we left, the table we had originally been sitting at was still vacant. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! There are many places in the area which are MUCH better than this abject disappointment!

An excellent selection of shellfish, fish and meat were also on offer and were hard to resist. Look forward to returning in the spring

Stannade till här på vår färd längst västkusten. Hittade restaurangen av en slump. Jätte-god mat och mysigt ställe. Kännes lite som en kvarterskrog fast finare. Mysig stämning och jätte-trevlig personal. Bra priser.

Had higher hopes for this place based on other reviews. Some things were very good, though some things were very bad. Sadly there were things wrong at every stage.

I visited this pub for lunch with my 2 dogs and was made very welcome. As a single female tourist it is nice to go somewhere where the staff are so kind and friendly. The girls were given a bowl of water and a biscuit immediately. My food was lovely and what a great spot to chill out. Thank you to the staff for being so kind

We visited the restaurant for a seafood lunch, arriving around 12.30pm. Three tables were taken, being served by one person. It took quite a long time to even get our order in, so we knew we were in for a long haul. Still, waited 1h 15min for our meal, which was warm but not hot, and tasted ok but not great. When dealing with waiters who prioritize setting tables over serving waiting guests, you should allow for plenty of time. Or go somewhere else.

Word of mouth recommendation led to visit to this wonderful haven on Saturday afternoon. There was a sailing event on next day at the loch from the crowded marina so we didn't have much hope of a table but we couldn't have been more wrong. We were welcomed most warmly and assured that although they were fully booked we would be fed that evening. Not only that when we asked if there was any taxi service locally (not really) we were promised that someone would get us back to our nearby hotel after dinner. Oh and the food was fabulous sea food beautifully cooked followed by a live band that was right up our street. So thank you Lady of the Isles (you know who you are) for a special evening on our trip to your spectacular corner of Scotland.

Beating our way from Kilmartin to Oban in a rented Toyota Prius (possibly the worst driver's car since certain Chrysler products of the late 1970's) I was badly in need of a break, a stiff drink and some food. I'd spotted this place on TA as a possibility while I was planning the trip and while the reviews seemed fine there's always the chance you'll hit one of those statistical potholes where the reviewers tastes don't coincide at all with yours. I'll just say this place set the bar for scallops with black pudding and pancetta and for fish pie during the next ten days on Mull, Skye and up the coast to Ullapool. Never was able to find another place that could touch it. Excellent food and service with good drinks as well. I'll also mention that whoever put the place up threw some well spent money at it. Not quaint, but modern, fresh and tasteful.

We ate here a few times on holiday or stopped in for drinks, sometimes just a few of us or a bigger group. Typical family pub at the times we visited (not Friday or Saturday night), food was decent but nothing out of the ordinary given the pricing. Staff were always helpful and friendly even when busy. Pool table was good fun on a rainy afternoon and the hot chocolate was really good.

Lovely food and good service. Wide selection of beers and wines. We've been several times and never disappointed. There is a small shop attached to the pub. You need to go into the pub and ask them to open it up if you need anything.

After a day out on a boat, we eventually managed to get a table for an evening meal at the very busy Lord of the Isles, and filled in the time by going for a pleasant walk around Craobh Haven. The meal itself was amazing, local scallops accompanied by wine followed by cafe affogato, served by a very friendly local lady. We enjoyed our evening immensely, a fitting end to a wonderful day on the west coast.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
