We drove here while staying in near by Kenmore after looking at pictures on Tripadvisor. We were looking for some breakfast and this had been advertised, however after arriving we were the only people in the cafe, we sat down to find that the only food they serve (apart from cakes) is soup. This was disappointing after making the trip and misleading pictures online. I would not recommend going here unless it was for a coffee and cake, do not expect any other food apart from soup. Staff were friendly and also displayed their disappointment at this menu change.

I have been visiting Highland Safaries cafe for years as it was local and a good breakfast, lunch or slice of cake was always guaranteed. Visited today with a friend for lunch and was extremely disappointed. The lunch menu was less than basic, with only option being soup. When we enquired about sandwich options were told by staff they only made sandwiches for children and soup was the only choice for 'adults'. Soup tasted ok but nothing special and not the best option for summer weather. Kids lunch box wasn't great quality and not ideal snack choices for small children. Cafe was extremely quiet and staff looked bored. Play area still good but sad to see a once popular and busy family attraction so empty and soulless. Although this is local to us will not return or recommend to others at present due to lack of choice and quality.

We really like this cafe, gift shop and activity centre. Sadly on the day we went for breakfast they had no chef but they did have some oven fresh scones so a little disappointed. Having said that it’s in a lovely location and is totally dog friendly. If you’ve not managed to spot any deer they have a few in an enclosure plus an owl and gold panning if you like that sort of thing. They do of course offer wildlife safaris.

Visited for lunch today and was very disappointed with the menu. Not enough choice,in fact boring. Used to enjoy Yvonne's delicious quiches, the special board is exactly the same as the menu on the table! Soup was tasty and waitress friendly. Will not be back owing to poor choices for lunch.

Visited during the summer and had a great visit with good food and service. We returned in October to experience exactly the opposite. Perhaps our expectations were too high after our previous visit. We experienced very poor service, lack of engagement from staff, table service removed, menu transformed to offer very little, food quality very poor. Don’t look on the website for an accurate menu as the website indicates quality and choice. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous reviews, things have changed and not just for the season.

I been a customer of Highland safaris for probably 20 years and always made a point of visiting when in the area as the food was consistently first class. Alas it seems these days have gone. Visited yesterday at 1pm and was amazed to only find 1 car in the car park, we soon realised why. Menu was either sandwich, soup or rolls not the extensive menu of before with bacon rolls, burgers, quiche etc. Ok maybe just cutting back for winter we though and ordered a sandwich. To say we were underwhelmed was understatement. Tables were sticky the bread was poor supermarket at best with a bland bit of cheese,no salad with their excellent dressing as before, no coleslaw just a half bag of crisps on the side. Was going to have a slice of their chocolate cake as is the tradition but the portion was half of what it used to be. This used to be an amazing place but whoever has taken it over please remember your reputation was built on good home cooked food, without that its nothing.

Gone downhill massively. Have been going for 7 years, was a great place for a proper breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake. Visited yesterday hoping for my usual soup and a gluten free toastie to be told they only do pre-made deli filled rolls - no toasties/bacon rolls etc. The kitchen looked empty, staff looked unhappy, cafe was very quiet for a Saturday lunchtime. Used to be such a wonderful place to catch up with family and friends. It will be missed.

We visited The Highland Safari Cafe yesterday and have to say it was really disappointing. Slow service. Dirty sticky tables. No effort to clear any tables (at least 4 tables left with dirty plates) for thirty minutes. The food wasnt great either. Sorry. Could probably just do with some leadership in the cafe….

The food we ordered was delicious. This is a cafe that knows their stuff when it comes to flavour and texture working in beautiful harmony. Whilst we were there, it was at lunch time which you would assume would be a busy time and it was. Yet there was only one waitress taking food orders. It was as if either someone was off or someone had let too many people go for a break at once. This meant that ordering and receiving our food took longer than you would expect. The staff were perfectly friendly, both in the cafe and in the shop which leads me to believe it is just some form of staffing error and s one off situation rather than common practice for there to only be one person taking food orders.

A very disappointing visit after previously enjoying meals here. We had a long wait for our food and people who came in after us were served before us. We had to ask if our food was ready after waiting 40 minutes. We were then offered our main course before the soup! Who wants that? There was obviously a mix up but no one explained what had happened and we only got a cursory apology afterwards. The soup was supposed to be leek and potato but when it finally arrived it was Broccoli and we were not told of the change. Not everyone likes Broccoli but it was ok although a bit watery. No butter served with the sliced bread. The Cullen Skink was lovely. My daughters meal was a soup and panini combo but the panini was lukewarm when it arrived with no side salad. The quiche was ok but very salty and the portion size was less than it used to be. We decided against coffee and cake as it had taken so long to get our meal. We did complain and they took the cost of one soup off the bill. We've always had nice meals here in the past but sadly we were not the only ones who weren't happy yesterday. If the cafe has changed hands then management need to look at improving service, quality and quantity before we will be back.

I have been to Highland Safari's many times and never once have I, or my family, been disappointed not only with the food, but the service and friendliness of the staff. I have purchased safari's as gifts and finally managed to secure one for myself which I can't wait to experience. Everything at Highland Safari's is geared around family where you can learn about the rescued red dear, the barn owl, panning for gold or playing in the children's play area. I would highly recommend a visit here if you are in the area and if your are not, make a detour! Fantastic.

Stopped for lunch. I had carrot and coriander soup. Tasted superb, perfectly seasoned, though only warm. Would have liked it a little hotter. The bread accompanying it was the best I have tasted for a long time. My wife had the quiche, which was tasty though was really a flan! The quiche society would definitely have had it under the trades description! Served with a small salad. Overall, absolutely lovely, except for the price, which was top price for what is a"cafe" . For what we paid I would have expected a larger quantity. But these criticisms made it was very enjoyable and "top quality".

Following an excellent mountain safari, we visited the cafe for coffee and cake. My wife is, unfortunately, confined to a gluten free diet but was most impressed by the selection of GF goodies available. She was further impressed by the care taken by the server to prevent any possibility of cross contamination - washed his hands before handling the GF cake chosen, used a dedicated towel and a dedicated knife to cut said cake. (P.S. she says the cake was scrummy!)

Lovely atmosphere was made to feel welcome, we weren’t very hungry so decided to have a toasted sandwich between us. This was brought to us on 2 separate plates with coleslaw salad and crisps. My friend then spotted the florentine’s so we had one of those, the best I have had in a long time. Saw lots of delicious food coming out for other customers. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

The location, the restaurant, the staff and the food are all excellent. My partner and I had a truly wonderful Sunday lunch and each dish (cheese souffle, John Dory and blueberry pana cotta) worthy of 10 out of 10. scores. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.
