Ice cream amazing as always but it's lost the ice cream parlour feeling I loved.
Hardly any tables, bar style seating, too high for my grandchildren.
Missed the menu with Sundaes..trying to figure out your own sundae is tricky when there's a big queue behind you.
Family night out, very pleasant environment - lovely spacious table for 8 of us, not too close to other dinners. The food was very nice, hot plates and the food was well presented. All 3 courses were very enjoyable - minor changes to some meals was requested and the were acted on without any fuss. The staff were very polite but the speed of the service may have been an issue if we had been constrained by time or were in a hurry. However the staff helped us to have a very enjoyable evening. We will return.
This place has great artwork and is extremely cute. The food comes in a fish shaped plate and is very cool. The food was delish. It does the breakfast till 4pm if you want a late breakfast and is open from 11am till 10pm.There is only one toilet which was also very clean.
A delight to find somewhere independent open earlier than 9am for a coffee and breakfast roll. Just what I needed for the road. The veggie roll was delicious and the flat white coffee as it should be served in a small cup, tasted good. Friendly customer service very attentive. Plus they prefer cash so make sure you have plenty of change as it will be welcomed. They do take cards as well. Thank you

Excellent value for money.
The hotel is modern and functional, and has everything you need to be comfortable. The rooms are small, but for the price we paid, they're absolutely worth it; we didn't need more space. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious for such a small room. Everything was perfect for relaxing after an intense day of sightseeing.
It's true that the cleanliness could be improved a bit, but I didn't find it as negative as some reviews mentioned. Despite that, everything was quite good.
One positive point I loved was the free coffee, chocolate, and tea corner at the reception, open 24 hours a day. We found it very useful, especially when we left early for the airport and needed a quick coffee. The staff was also very friendly. When we arrived, they offered us a room with a better view that was still available, a very appreciated gesture.
Accommodation for two people cost 394 euros for 5 nights, a super-affordable price compared to other options. I was also fortunate to have spectacular weather—not cold at all and sunny every day—so I have very fond memories of this trip.
The hotel's location is excellent, just a 20-minute walk from the city center, and the area is quiet and safe, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it if you travel to Edinburgh.

Five Stars for BrewDog – One of My Greatest Beer Inspirations!
I have been a passionate fan of BrewDog for many years.
When I first started to dive deeper into the world of beer, I – like many in Germany – believed that only German brewers crafted the best beers.
However, during the development of a historic beer for the 1000th anniversary of our village, I first truly encountered the vast and fascinating international beer scene — and that’s when BrewDog came into my life.
My first consciously enjoyed international beer was Punk IPA — and it absolutely blew me away.
I was thrilled by the explosion of flavors, the creativity, and the boldness BrewDog brought to the glass. From that moment on, I was hooked — the diversity of beer styles, the endless possibilities of aromas, and the stories around beer became a deep passion of mine.
BrewDog became one of my greatest inspirations and a key motivation for me to explore this world even further.
Today, as a certified Diplom-Biersommelier, I look back with immense gratitude.
At MERWERT GmbH, we still proudly serve BrewDog beers at many of our customer events — and they continue to impress and excite our guests every single time.
Thank you, BrewDog team, for your incredible passion, pioneering spirit, and courage to rethink and redefine what beer can be.
You’ve opened my eyes (and my palate) to the amazing world of craft beer. I’ll always raise a glass to you!

Big spacious bar, nice pizza in proper oven, brew their own beer, big tap list of guest beers. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Great city centre bar.

Not sure where to start, the carpentry and decor at this pub is just amazing. Huge wooden doors and panelling, beautiful stained glass windows and just amazing all round. 2 handpumps with real Ale, no pumpclip on the one we had but it was a great pint
