Really great bar, we went there post The Stand comedy club Saturday show ending for one more and ended up staying for a good couple of hours. The girl singing piano was fantastic and the ambience was brilliant. A thoroughly great experience with an extensive bar collection and I look forward to returning to Element and hopefully see that girl singing again too. Fantastic night!

The food is very delicious. I really liked the dessert, I ate caramel pudding with vanilla ice cream. I highly recommend it because it's not a pudding like what we have here. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo.

The terrace in the sun made us stop there. The pub itself is really pretty, well decorated with a cozy atmosphere. The typical dishes were delicious as well as the beers (reservations required for dinner) Little Sunday evening bonus: a singer with his guitar.

Went here for a Sunday roast on Mother's Day. It's definitely a little gem we found in Edinburgh. Food is excellent.

The waitress who served us was super friendly but the food is really bad. We ordered two burgers that were like the sole of a shoe. The atmosphere is good and the price would be good if the food was good.

Really nice spot with a great atmosphere for either drinks or a meal (I recommend trying the Balmoral chicken!).

Went here for a roast dinner - never again. The beef was raw and chewy, the potatoes were boiled with splecks of pepper, carrots were uncooked and oily. Would not recommend the roast here. First pub in Edinburgh we go to for a Sunday roast, and are extremely disappointed. Had to send both orders back as it was appalling how they could serve something so badly. Portions were really small. Not like a roast dinner at all. All vegetables were raw, and the Yorkshire pudding was soggy. Waste of money.

Simply wow! The restaurant is simple but with attention to the smallest details. The girl who served us was really very kind and put a lot of effort into it. The food was superb: the cauliflower as a starter was amazing and the friend rice with chicken was one of the best I've ever eaten. Very honest prices.

Absolutely incredible! The food was mouthwatering delicious - the best I've had in a while. I ordered the ginger and garlic fried rice with crispy chicken and it is a perfectly balanced dish. The flavours, the texture, the satisfying sensation of having a properly cooked meal. The spiciness, the crunchiness... Wow! I'm really glad I came here and chose this from the menu. I'm gonna dream with this dish for a while.... The atmosphere inside is also very cozy and welcoming. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great background music, nice decor, good light level... Perfect for a date or a quiet dinner with friends. Best place I've eaten at in Edinburgh!

Went there for a sunday roast def delivered hostess was welcoming and attentive, a def must if your away from home and want a roast dinner with all the trimmings absoloutly delicious and big serving

Stopped in for lunch and ordered the steak and ale pie for both of us. Although it looked nice when it arrived, we were very disappointed to find hardly any meat in the pie. Only found 3 small pieces of steak in each pie. It was more a carrots, onions and ale gravy pie. Think this is unfair for what you charge for this dish. We mentioned our dissatisfaction to the server and we were told that she would inform the chef. Could do better.

Food and service was good but when you have to sit in an indoor restaurant in the middle of winter and it has no heating on, (apparently a problem with their radiators, ) and you need to leave your coat on, doesn't make for a nice evening out 🥶🥶🥶

In the “Element” you can feel at home. The living room atmosphere is underlined by the extremely friendly and committed service and the delicious, honest and down-to-earth food. The steak and ale pie was simply a poem.

Surprisingly great burgers and fries, which made up for the overall price of the menu.. We should've left on a high note, but we got tempted by dessert (of course..!) Sadly these let us both down.. the ice-cream sundae and the warm brownie.. Nice presentation, but lacking in quality.

We had a wonderful meal last night at Element. We had the amazing Shannon who went above and beyond to ensure we had fabulous service. She made a stunning Bloody Mary and cared about seasoning and level of spice to ensure I enjoyed it. She was attentive, and checked in on us at just the right moments so we never felt rushed or neglected. She really made our experience worth it, and is an absolute credit to the company. We stayed later than her shift, but her lovely colleague Amanda (sorry if not correct) sorted the bill for us. It was a lovely evening, and based on the experience of our group, we can highly recommend the buffalo chicken burger, the fish and chips, the Bloody Mary, espresso martini and old fashioned. We’ll be back!

Went into Element for a bite to eat and escape the Edinburgh Christmas chaos. Decided on Element as the vegan burger was £4.50 cheaper than the other public houses nearby. The vegan burger was as good as any others I have tasted. The banoffe cocktail has a kick to it. Only complaint table was table was just a bit close to other diners.

Food is different and nice, it’s very busy which is a good sign. Waitresses were very nice and provided a great service!

Loved the steak and ale pie. However, not a fan of hidden fees and didn't appreciate the mandatory service fee that was added to our bill. Spent 5 days in the country and this was the only restaurant that did that.

Honestly cannot fault Element. Staff are super welcoming and friendly, service is excellent and the roast dinner was AMAZING. I would probably even go as far to say say it was the “perfect” roast dinner. Delicious.

We booked for the festive menu so we were seated at the back in the restaurant. The festive menu was reasonably priced. The soup wasn't great and didn't look appetising ( grey in colour) - I think it just needed more stock for flavour. The pate and salmon were enjoyed. The turkey was good, as was the beef. The roast potatoes were like bullets! Sadly the chocolate dessert we had pre ordered wasn't available. Something to do with it not setting and the chef not being happy to serve it. We all ended up with the milk bar pie, which was ok. We very much appreciated the offer of complimentary coffees. The service was brilliant. We had 2 lovely ladies serving our table. They were fun, happy and did everything they could to make it an enjoyable experience for us. Definitely assets to this establishment. We didn't have a drink in the bar as it was extremely busy but everybody looked like they were having fun. It wasn't perfect but we would certainly go back.

During my Scotland trip, I was flue and felt quite dizzy. While I was looking for a restaurant which i can eat soup to make myself feel better, I had come across this place. I tried their potato soup and it worked!

La comida que pedimos fue, para ser sincero, muy buena. Mejor de lo que he comido más recientemente en lugares que cobran el doble. Esta es la tercera o cuarta vez que he comido aquí, ya que nunca antes me habían decepcionado. Como siempre, la decoración es cálida y elegante, el personal es amable y acogedor y la comida es excelente.Hice una reserva previa en línea para estar seguro con Covid, etc., pero cuando llegué, ¡fue como si hubiera entrado y hubiera pedido quedarme a pasar la noche! Fue muy extraño, como si no me estuvieran esperando: las puertas estaban cerradas a pesar de que estaba listo para mi reserva. Se tomaron mis datos (aunque no muy bien) y me senté después de que me explicaron los procedimientos.El menú que me dieron no tenía precios, pero había comido aquí antes, así que pensé que podía esperar un rango de precios similar al del año anterior. Incorrecto. Incluso para el centro de la ciudad de Edimburgo, me horrorizó la factura, casi 3. 50 por una Coca-Cola? ! Reservamos y nos alegró ver que había un estricto distanciamiento social, máscaras animadas a moverse por el restaurante y un personal alegre que trabajaba duro con máscaras también. Nos sentamos, pedimos bebidas y comida. Empezamos a charlar y nuestra encantadora camarera se acercó a decirnos que nuestra comida no tardaría en llegar después de media hora, pero no nos habíamos dado cuenta de que pasaba el tiempo. Pasaron otros 15 minutos y teníamos un poco de hambre. El restaurante está muy ocupado, lo atribuimos a eso. ¡Nuestra camarera luego explicó que podríamos tomar un cóctel o una bebida de cortesía para compensar la espera de la que no éramos conscientes! La comida llegó y estaba deliciosamente deliciosa. Raciones generosas, bien preparadas, bien presentadas y calientes. Postre y cócteles fueron las cerezas en un pastel delicioso y bien decorado. Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta. ¡Salud!

Such a shame to write a bad review but others with allergies need to be careful. I am vegetarian with a dairy allergy, I always book in advance when going away to ensure we have a good evening meal without any problems. The reservation for here was made in advance and stated I am vegan and this is part of birthday celebrations. We arrived, checked the options on the menu and ordered a VEGAN cauliflower steak. The food arrived and the cheese that came with the cauliflower (that we were told was vegan multiple times) tasted like normal cheese. We checked again that it was vegan and were later informed it was only a vegetarian meal NOT vegan and we were misinformed when ordering. This ruined the night, birthday and rest of our trip. We will never be going back to this place sadly. If you have an allergy avoid this place!

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was super friendly. The athmosphere is cozy and nice. We shared the haggis, neeps & tatties as well as the duck confit starters. The duck confit was sooo delicious. The haggis were fine a well as we wanted to try it for the first time. As a main we had the chicken kiev (absolut recommendation!) and the fish & chips. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! I will be back for sure!

Hemos estado aquí para desayunar muchas veces y sigue impresionando. El menú abarca todo, desde carne hasta vegana, y la comida es muy, muy buena. Vale la pena dirigirse por la puerta de entrada a un encantador y acogedor bar y lugar para comer. Un verdadero hallazgo y al que seguiremos volviendo.

Tropecé con este lugar y tengo que decir que muy contentos de haberlo hecho. . . Aunque era un lugar concurrido cuando estábamos, pero el servicio era eficiente y la comida que teníamos era imprescindible si te gusta una hamburguesa. La hamburguesa Element fue increíble y está a la altura de lo mejor que hemos tenido. . . La cebolla y la masa estaban simplemente deliciosas y la próxima vez probaré el pescado. . . Una joya bien administrada de un lugar aplaude. . . De seguro regresará

Stumbled on this delight. Doesn’t look much from outside but once you get through the front door you are greeted by lovely staff and a cozy interior. The food was delicious.

Visited for lunch with my family. We are a varied bunch, some traditionalists, some vegans and some more adventurous eaters, and there is something for everyone. Meat eaters tried haggis bon bons as a snack which were lovely, and then we had a variety of things - tradiyinal Cullen skink for my son which was delicious, two people had vegan sandwiches, I had a lovely light Scottish scampi salad and we also had eggs Benedict. The food was all lovely and the atmosphere too; the service was good. Not so cheap but it was worth it for the general experience.

Visited here with my husband and teenage daughters for an early dinner whilst visiting Edinburgh. The food was excellent - roasted cauliflower, fish and chips and game pie were all enjoyed immensely! Four different desserts were ordered by our party and all were delicious. Lovely cosy atmosphere to escape the cold and we should mention the great waitress, Julija, who was friendly and super efficient. Would recommend.

My girlfriend, two friends and I attended Element last night for drinks. I was at the bar multiple times and felt I had to write a review about the two members of staff that served us the whole night, Chris and Blythe. Despite what I’m sure was tipsy garbage coming out of my mouth, they were warm, super friendly and professional. I love it when bar staff have a bit of personality and crack about them and Chris and Blythe were the reason a one-drink-per-bar pub crawl turned into us staying at Element for a few hours. Without a doubt a credit to your team

My 4th visit. Excellent ambience, service and food. A great meal to celebrate my wife’s 50th. Chicken Kiev wS the highlight and the house white made my weekend. Also nice drop of Bowmore finished off a great evening.

Went here for dinner on Monday night . Had beets salad for starter. Really great. But the burger was the star with its tasty sides and a pint of local. Great staff. Scott is a great guy. Love the decor. Very cosy. All to be found on Rose street.

We had been told by our hotel to pick a spot for dinner on Rose Street, and we picked this place on a whim. We loved it! We had the chicken Kiev and it was delicious. Love the decor and the staff were friendly. Food was a little slow coming out but not anything to worry about.

Location suggestiva, bella, tipica, tranquilla e accogliente. Menù semplice ed essenziale con portate tipiche ma non lontane dai nostri sapori. Questo ovviamente per chi viaggia con i ragazzi è fondamentale. Tra l'altro accettava presenza di minorenni oltre le 20.00, cosa difficilissima da trovare ad Edimburgo quando si parla di pub. Staff disponibile ed estremamente educato, la cameriera sorrideva sempre e tra l'altro molto aperta a comprendere il nostro cattivo inglese. Buonissimo il pollo fritto, la carne di cervo e gli antipasti. Prezzi mela media inglese, quindi altini. In 16 abbiamo speso 487 pound. Da provare

If you like eating and shouting at your fellow diners then this is the place for you. Had dinner here and although the food was ok the noise levels from the bar music through the speakers to the restaurant was deafening. I asked the staff if the volume could be turned down in the restaurant but was told it’s not possible as the speakers are linked? Won’t be back.

My wife and i have been coming to Edinburgh 2-3 times a year, for the last 5 or so years and everytime we come we pay a visit to this place.

Visited 31 December during the afternoon. Great atmosphere, drinks prices reasonable and although service could have been better it was okay. One half of the bar was covered in dirty glasses with no apparent coordination amongst the staff to clear the backlog. Otherwise good bar worth visiting.

Great wee place for a bite to eat. We were looking for a brunch/early lunch place to do and this did not disappoint. We both went for a cooked breakfast and wow it was fab. The beans were homemade and honestly the best I’ve tasted.

Had a work Christmas party here so it’s probably not an average customer experience. Staff seemed unaware of the booking, to the point where I was wondering if they had a second branch! However found the tables eventually. Staff were hard to find and they missed out on a much larger drinks payment because of that. Food was lovely, but they’re really not set up for large groups. Apparently the dumbwaiter connecting the downstairs kitchen to the restaurant can’t hold much. Result was that those having the turkey were half way through before the extra potatoes/pigs in blankets and gravy arrived, and completely finished by the time the fish pies arrived for others around the table. The ‘trifle’ dessert was no such thing. Tasty, but not a trifle! Others in the group had been here before as couples/max 4 people and had had a good time.

Very friendly, prompt service, comfy chairs (in the dining room) well presented meals and super tasty and quite plentiful. Very happy with our meal here and would recommend this venue for sure.

Popped in yesterday for a quick bite/late lunch with my sisters and Mum. Lovely wee place, great selection on menu and good service. Mum and one sister had eggs from the brunch menu which were delicious and the burger my youngest sister had was incredible. I had the beef sandwich and it was superb; beautifully crispy and garlicky Foccacia bread and fresh greens.

A group of 4,enjoyed a superb Christmas meal in Thursday evening. The food was beautifully prepared and presented and even better was piping hot. The staff were very attentive despite the restaurant being full

Visité ayer para el brunch, la comida era muy buena, tenía el advocado aplastado sobre pan de masa agria, huevos benedictinos y el desayuno McMuffin. Le preguntamos a la camarera por nuestros cafés y té con la comida. La comida llegó terminada, tuve que volver a preguntar por nuestro café. La chica sacó todo en una bandeja, dijimos que nos diera la tetera que era muy grande y pesada para 1 té, no escuchó, la leche me cubrió, la mesa y el piso. Cuando íbamos al teatro no era lo ideal. Obtuvimos un 20% de descuento en la factura, pero señalamos que cuando pagamos, tal vez deberían tener una tetera más pequeña para encenderse, Mir, la camarera, debería sacar la tetera de la bandeja primero, ya que podría haber un accidente grave en algún momento. Buena comida, las habilidades de camarera no son geniales.

We go here when in Edinburgh and always a good visit. Great drinks and friendly staff who always have time for a chat when getting drinks ready. Relaxed atmosphere and blue moon on draft.....can’t beat it.

First time visit, visiting Edinburgh for the weekend. This restaurant is a little gem, small, intimate setting down the back through cosy pub. Beautifully decorated for Christmas setting. Great service, all staff really friendly & welcoming, gave great recommendations for food & things to do in Edinburgh! Julija deserves a special mention, a real credit to Element. Tried Haggis for 1st time & it was delicious, as was the lovely warming Christmas cocktail before we set out into the cold after. Would definitely recommend & you need to book in advance as very popular.

Had the sausage and muffin, egg was so undercooked the white was still clear and sticky. 10% service charge added to bills regardless of number of diners.

This is our third visit and let's just say it wasn't the most welcoming! I booked months ago for 3 people and when we arrived the male server offered us a tiny table for two in the corner. It was totally inadequate for 3 people and we basically said so. He was quite dismissive initially until we challenged him. Did rather sour our much anticipated third visit, however he did relent and gave us a more appropriate table. I appreciate it's a busy time of year but maybe you need to look after your bookings more efficiently. The food was OK.

We went on a Friday night and the service and atmosphere were superb. Our server had an informed opinion to guide food and drink choices and it was the right balance of attentiveness and space. Would definitely go again!

Came here in April and had a wonderful experience so we made the decision to stick to what we know. Not quite the right decision.

My old friend who lives in Edinburgh took me here for dinner and it didn't disappoint. The interior was quite nice and the food was good. I had the typical fish and chips with mushy peas. Everything was good, cant complain!

Been here before a couple of years ago and had a good experience, hence return visit whilst in Edinburgh. Unfortunately, second time wasnt the same.... we ordered a mackerel salad and a ploughmans - really disappointed with the latter a slice of terrine, small thin slice of cheese which looked like it had come out of a packet, few salad leaves and slices of apple and half a slice of bread! Waitress unattentive, disinterested - finally asked us (after she had taken our payment) whether we enjoyed and so gave her some honest constructive feedback to be told ‘well if you had said something before I could have done something with your bill but now you have paid i cant, all I can do is mention to the kitchen.’ I said well you could have asked before now? Customer service at its best. Not.
