Cannot fault a single thing about this hotel. We had a junior suite and it was beautiful. The staff are all wonderful and the breakfast is lovely (especially the haggis)

Hotel looked great unfortunately got food poisoning at the hotel sick for my whole trip, no compensation from hotel so far. Staff came in and called the nhs on the phone. Then charges me 60 pounds for the call. Terrible experience.

Our stay here was beyond fabulous. When we arrived, we were greeted by several staff members all who were very kind. While we were checking in, another couple was unknowingly assigned the same room as my husband and I. I would like to especially thank Karen for handling the situation so beautifully. She was so caring and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect in every way. Also, Linda at the concierge desk gave wonderful advice on what to see and do in Edinburgh and is a gem in the hotel staff. The drinks and bartenders were also spectacular. We will 100% book this hotel again on our next visit to Edinburgh. This is why we are diamond members and will always be loyal Hilton customers.

Everything is amazing here. The staff is polite and helpful. The service in general is really good. The rooms are clean. Only the TV is not really high-tech (but that's okay). The breakfast is diverse and you get your ordered dishes very fast. Allergies are no problem at all. Location is one of the best so far. All in all, can totally recommend this place!

Not any more Waldorf Astoria, looks like they lower it's Level.

Small rooms. Small bathroom. Big price. For what you pay, you expect more in your room. Great, polite staff and very helpful concierge. Good location, but nothing is far away in Edinburgh.

Worst hotel view found in five-star hotel, The Caledonian Edinburgh. I am a Hilton Diamond member. Booked on April 28 for four day stay in July. Room advertised on web site attached in photos. Actual room view attached. Requested a room change for any four days and was told no. This is not a cheap hotel room.

Complete disappointment. Paid $1000 per night to have a tiny room looking at an interior awful courtyard, not even vanity set in bathroom no glasses no place to dry hair. It was under construction and elevator made us go thru it stepping into glue for the carpet being installed! And we are Hilton Honors members. Requested a top sheet for our bed to have it sitting on the bed. Really can’t make the bed? Carpet was dirty ! Simply the worst hotel experience. This is sold as a Waldorf Astoria! They should be ashamed to have this property associated with them.

My recent stay at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian was extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the typical Waldorf service was very apparent. The hotel was housed in a building with a storied past dating back to 1903. This was the old Caledonia Railway Company. I had the pleasure of staying in the Cuthbert Suite, which offered unmatched views of Edinburgh Castle. Waking up to such a sight each morning and watching the castle all lit up at night was an experience I will never forget. The suite itself was very large, featuring opulent furnishings and state-of-the-art amenities such as a Dyson hair dryer, yoga mat/block, and espresso maker. The hotel's facilities were equally impressive. The Waldorf Astoria Spa was fantastic for my end of the day relaxation. The sauna and steam room were a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the city. The Caledonian’s prime location made it the ideal base for exploring Edinburgh. Located close to Princes Street Gardens, and within a mile of the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the hotel is perfectly situated for both relaxation and the explorer in me. What a wonderful visit! Thank you!

I'm sad that I can only give two stars to this lovely hotel. One for the concierge and one for the housekeeper. When ordering breakfast, pay attention to the order in which the service staff delivers the food. The first person to order does not necessarily come first. After waiting for half an hour for an omelet, the guests who arrived later had already gotten it first. After asking the service staff twice, three service staff came and took turns to apologize and promised to come right away. The next omelet came and was given to the guests who had just arrived. It was too late, so I had to give up. I waited until 8:16 at 7:35, but I didn’t get the omelette, I only got a bunch of Sorry! This is not the service quality of a five-star hotel! Thanks also to the restaurant manager, I finally packed up two croissants to take away. I just hope that staff training can be strengthened. After all, delivering food at Waldorf Astoria is their daily routine, but it is a rare memory for many guests!

We stayed here recently and I'd recommend it as one of the very best hotels in Scotland. Brilliant location in front of Edinburgh castle. Old world charm and luxury. Beautiful rooms with everything you could want / need. The restaurant was stunning. The spa, pool and gym was a bonus. We were super impressed with the service by the front desk , the concierge, and the timely phone call to tell us our room was ready. I'd rate the service 10/10. Over and above all of that, our experience will be memorable as the front desk provided us with a transfer to our next hotel in their Bentley. Really grateful to all the staff who made this a great stay. We will definitely choose the caley for our return visit to Edinburgh.

Super great stay here. Rooms were fab, we had an amazing view of the castle from every window, but the service was excellent from start to finish. Hotel is dog friendly but the bars and restaurants are not which makes breakfast a little tricky. Breakfast was very good though

Best location for sightseeing, enjoyed room, spa, pool, breakfast, restaurant and services excellent for everything. I felt like staying at the hotel as long as possible rather than going out because of rain.

We arrived early from a 18 hour flight at 10 am. We where told our room would be ready in a few hours (no big deal I get it) but then people where arriving way later than us and where getting their room. I knew some of the people and it was the same type of room we ultimately got. I requested a phone call or text when our room was available. Starting at 2 I started double checking the availability every hour. It was not until 5:23 pm that our room was available. I asked when it came available and they said 4:17. I asked why I did not get a call or text about it and they said they did not have my number. It was literally written down next to the keyboard with my name on it as the lady is telling me this. When I pointed it out she said she there where no notes from the previous front desk person. When we get our room we realize our air conditioning does not work which they knew but said they forgot to tell me. I asked for a fan and they said no problem. They brought me a heater. I kept calling asking for a fan and they said it would be at my room shortly. After 2 days I gave up. The house keeping was great, the food was OK but the location was truly amazing. I would look else where unless you only care about location. For the cost I expected a much better experience with the place. Gym was OK but very limited.

I booked an afternoon tea for my mum's birthday and we couldn't have been more looked after. Everyone was attentive and pleasant, wishing her happy birthday on arrival. We all had a wonderful time. All the cakes & sandwiches were delicious.

My family and I dined at Peacock Alley today. Had the ‘Once Upon a Time’ tea experience and it was wonderful. Melanie our host was first class. Attentive, knowledgeable and made our afternoon relaxed and special. My son uses a wheelchair and accessibility and facilities were excellent. Thank You Melanie

Visited for afternoon tea and was a beautiful day out. We were served by Melony and her service was absolutely outstanding. Melony went above and beyond to look after us and the service was quick and impeccable, with regular opportunity to try more tea! My brother is in a wheelchair and her understanding without us having to explain anything allowed us to simply relax and enjoy the experience together as a family. Melony is an excellent example of the luxury experience at the Waldorf and truly made our day all the more magical. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for afternoon tea in the capital!

Fantastic hotel they really make you feel welcome from first step inside. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Room was great and spacious. Can’t wait to return amazing place to stay 5 stars for everything.

I regret to say that my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The receptionist made a serious error by double charging my room, resulting in a substantial overcharge of £1.2k. When I contacted the hotel to resolve the issue, the receptionist was shockingly rude, denying any mistake and insisting it was impossible. After providing undeniable proof from my bank, I was met with further delays and excuses, having to escalate the matter to someone with authority. Despite assurances of a prompt refund before the New Year, three weeks have passed since my check-out, and I'm still waiting for the reimbursement. It's evident that the reception staff lack proper training and attention to detail. My advice to future guests: meticulously check your bills before departing, as the hotel's incompetence may lead to financial inconvenience and unnecessary stress.

After 3 days on a bus tour checked into the hotel then into Peacock for a light dinner. I really wanted a salad but they only had a side salad I mentioned this to our server Jen who said she would check with the chef and see what could be done. Whatever she said she did it and I received a very nice salad along with a couple of other things we ordered. Thank You Jen The next day I had scheduled their afternoon tea. All I will say is it was delicious and the dessert portions were presented in a very unique and pleasing manner. Highly recommend Peacock alley.

We have celebrated our anniversary at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, and we have mixed feelings about the stay. On the positive angle, the hotel has the best and most welcoming staff we are ever seen in a hotel. The hotel has a central location. The staff go above and beyond to assure a comfortable stay, the hotel is very well serviced and you feel very welcome. The spa was very decent (especially the jacuzzi is worth a try). We really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the a-la-care menu. One some days, we have housekeeping twice a day. On the negative angle, the room seems old and worn out. First, they give out of white plastic cards to access your room. I’ve never had that happen to me at any hotel. The room we stayed (419) was uncomfortable, it was one of the smallest rooms I’ve ever stayed in, perhaps as small as a prison cell. The aircon made loud and screeching sounds. And noise cancellation was probably non-existing, you can hear people walk outside the door. The bed was squeechy and made constant sounds. As for the bathroom, hot water wouldn’t come down quickly and at all times, sometimes you need to wait a few minutes which is unusual. Full blackout of the room was not possible. And you can see that many parts of the room were old and worn out. Is this what you expect from a 5-star ‘luxury’ branded hilton property? No. Perhaps, we expected more from a Waldorf. But also, perhaps, the hotel is desperately need of renovations, something which is bad and we decided to stay at the wrong time.

Highly recommend for a couples getaway. From the moment of booking to checkout, the hotel and staff made my experience one that was so easy and comfortable I absolutely plan to come back. I surprised my partner with an overnight stay in a Premium Queen room with Castle View and the view did not disappoint! Pillows were lush and soft. The bathroom was luxurious with Aesop amenities and the hotel was dotted with Scottish paintings and photos. Not to mention there are views of the castle on every floor and even from the pool & spa. Ewelina assisted me in advance with preparing a bottle of champagne and birthday card to surprise my partner at arrival. He was so surprised! Princess went above and BEYOND to ensure everything was not only perfect at check-in but also throughout the stay. She has so much knowledge about the hotel and area, and ensured our preparations to the expectation I have of a Waldorf. She made us feel personally welcomed and this is why I rated the Waldorf Astoria Caledonian FIVE STARS! Additionally, James and Nathan at the Concierge Desk both helped us out during the stay. Not only providing recommendations, but they both made calls either checking for space or amending our reservations and making sure we could relax and enjoy nearby restaurants with ease. We both left feeling like this was “the most relaxing weekend” we’ve had in such a long time and the entire staff really set a high bar. We absolutely look forward to our next stay. Only negative feedback: the room slippers were low quality disposable with “made in China” non/removable stickers. A monogrammed “WAC” or better quality would be the cherry on top and I think they deserve to have this!

Stayed here over weekend for two nights and can't fault the place one bit. Not only is the hotel stunning and within a fantastic location, but the staff are amazing and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Check in was a breeze and was given access to our room in no time. The room itself was well maintained, clean and had everything we needed with an amazing view of the castle. We had breakfast with in the hotel and the service we received was perfect, staff were always on hand and nothing was too much trouble. Overall would highly recommend this location to anyone who was looking at staying.

The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh is a hotel located in a central location in the city, a short walk from Princes Street and many other attractions. The building is imposing and majestic, but the atmosphere remains relaxing and welcoming. My room was a bit small, but it was furnished in a minimalist and functional way, and it was clean and cozy. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The staff was kind and professional.

My visit to the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh....Where do I start? I love the perfect attention to detail from the moment you enter, the perfect castle view, and fantastic staff that make sure you are pampered and feel special every single moment you are there- even when you are out working or shopping. The atmosphere is full of history and the hotel has managed to preserve the beauty of the building and inject modern details, in the rooms, restaurants and the lovely spa. In spite of my being very busy during my visit, the staff made sure that I felt like I was on holiday instead of business. They are always helpful and ask if there is anything you need- and believe me- they really care. My room was wonderful and even had a yoga mat and block so I could make the most of my stay. The friendly housekeepers made sure that my room was dream like every day and every breakfast in Grazing by Mark Greenaway had me longing for more. In the evenings the gorgeous bar and restaurants offer both informal and formal elegant dining, so it was perfect for business meetings and also an opportunity to enjoy fabulous Scottish dishes. I could have stayed longer, and long for my next visit! I will be back :)

During my recent visit to the esteemed Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh on Friday the 22nd at 14:00, I had the unique opportunity to experience their Peacock Alley. Renowned for its elegance, I anticipated an equally refined service. Regrettably, my expectations were met with an intriguing encounter that merits sharing. Upon my arrival, keen to enjoy a coffee and a bite, I was greeted, or rather, not greeted by a hostess with a robust stature and short dark hair. She seemed perplexed at my lack of reservation, a reaction that was both amusing and slightly puzzling. Her grimace, presumably an attempt to convey inconvenience, added a touch of unexpected comedy to the situation. This initial exchange subtly hinted at a personal bias she might have harbored towards me. Her efforts to navigate around me, rather than guiding me to a table, were both comical and baffling. It's rare to witness someone so visibly challenged by the mere existence of a guest. This experience led me to ponder the importance of training in hospitality, particularly in an establishment of such repute. In conclusion, while the setting of Peacock Alley was as delightful as anticipated, the service provided an unexpected twist to my visit. It’s a gentle reminder that even in the most prestigious establishments, the human element can be both a source of charm and, occasionally, a curious spectacle.

We came for a drink or two before going for a meal and a show. However, it was comfy, relaxing and we were very well looked after (especially by Daniel), so we stayed and ate from the 'all day menu' which was excellent.

Afternoon tea as part of a spa package. We arrived early as our spa services were done. We were seated but told that the server might not be available for a while. Service was exceptionally slow. Sandwiches were just ok but deserts were top notch. Unfortunately, the afternoon tea did not seem like anything special.

The Festive Afternoon Tea was a mixed experience but thoroughly enjoyed! The sandwiches were fairly average for the price point but the pastries were just on another level!! I personally feel that being charged for a small bottle of water when you are paying a premium to start with for an Afternoon Tea experience is slightly uncalled for! We did receive an apology for a long delay in delivering our pastries but as a five star establishment with pre booked customers I feel they should have coped better with the high demand but the quality of the pastries did soften the blow somewhat!! One thing that I found disappointing but I didn't complain about (I probably should have said something) was that we only received three scones (one and a half each) but I am sure that we should have received four (two each)!! Our Waitress Melony was very friendly and welcoming and thoroughly deserved the tip that I provided her on top of the 12.5% service charge!!!

Well, what a shame. We arrived at got a somewhat friendly greeting but it seemed like we were more of a bother than anything else. We were then seated in the bar/lounge area where there were people but it wasn't full. We then sat and waited while nobody paid us any attention whatsoever. They definitely were not short staffed as there were many staff buzzing about and attending other tables - or stood chatting to oine another. In fact, the table just beside us had a waitress attend their table 4 or 5 times while making eye contact with us, yet never coming over despite us clearly waiting to order. We in fact wondered if she knew them as she repeatedly served them yet did not bother to attend our table. Staff kept walking past but not once was a single word spoken to us. For such an expensive and highly rated hotel I would definitely expect much better service, even if staff are busy to say a word passing by to acknowledge us waiting. After 25 minutes of waiting to order a rather high priced drink, yet not a glimpse of customer service, we decided to leave... where again not even the acknowledgment of our departure took place. Considering just a few weeks ago I had such a contrary experience in their partnering Dean Banks restaurant I would avoid bothering to go near this side of the hotel again.

This Christmas afternoon tea was a amazing and made our trip to Edinburgh magical. A Christmas treat for my Mum thoroughly enjoyed. We had amazing friendly service from all staff but in particular our lovely server Iona. It was so nice to have a range of unlimited hot drinks to choose from included and offered regularly throughout our 2hrs dining experience. The afternoon tea could see had undergone so much effort, every fine detail and so much flavour. The desserts really made the festive theme from Christmas trees to baubles and every mouthful tasted of Christmas. Can't wait to return for more themed experiences. Thankyou :-)

Enjoyed a fabulous Aladdin-themed afternoon tea!! My guest was impressed with the place as it was her first time walking into the hotel and the Christmas decorations were a considerable plus to woo her! The food was amazing! We had to ask for a takeaway box for the cakes, because the sandwiches were deliciously filling. The best was definitely the aubergine ciabatta, it kinda reminded me of a particular dish that my mum makes. Very very happy with the service too. Loved the pampering from our special hostess, Steffi, and the knowledge she showed while describing the dishes. I had no doubt I would receive such outstanding service when I walked in to the lounge, but my guest was pleasantly taken aback by the friendliness. Highly recommended!! Can’t wait to see what kind of new menus they will cater next!!

I was taken to Peacock Alley for afternoon tea as birthday treat. The staff, Nico, Atlanta and Lucasz were very attentive and explained the menu beautifully. The food and the teas were outstanding with a variety of unusual teas served very professionally.

My mum booked us afternoon tea to celebrate my daughter‘s 10th birthday. We had the warmest reception from the charming doorman, who immediately recognised that it was a special occasion and made sure that a fuss was made of my daughter. Our waitress was the most competent, considerate, charming waitress that we’ve ever had. We all were blown away by the afternoon tea. Such a special occasion, made extra special by the lovely staff here.

Lovely afternoon tea served by friendly staff.My dietary requirement was noted in the booking and was mentioned as we were sat at our table.Choice of unlimited teas and coffee were offered and the meal was served at a gentle pace.Not the standard afternoon tea offering which slightly raked the excitement levels. Highly recommended by a couple who normally go to the Balmoral!

My friend and I went to Peacock Alley to try out the innovative afternoon tea for the Lunar New Year 2022. Recommend! The visual presentation is absolutely adorable! Impeccable service by Gintare and Lauren, extremely welcoming and professional. I am still savouring the conversation over tea with Gintare.

A wonderful, peaceful and elegant place in the heart of Edinburgh. Since we arrived, Elena greeted us kindly and helped us to the table. Lukasz immediately attended to us kindly as well and he gave us the best recommendations. In this magical place, they offer a very professional and close service. A highly recommended place for anyone visiting Edinburgh. If you are looking for a relaxing place to disconnect, this is your option.
