It’s challenging to provide a definitive review, as individual taste preferences vary. However, what truly stood out during my visit was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. They were incredibly welcoming and engaging, and we had a delightful conversation about the climate and other topics. Such warm and personable service is rare to come by these days. Regarding the food, the fish was a single, well-sized portion, perfect for one person, and it was flavorful and well-prepared. I highly recommend Gorgie Fish bar, which is conveniently open until midnight.

Frequented this place as a student living in Gorgie almost 20 years ago. This family always had smiles on their faces. I went there so many times they knew I loved mayonnaise with my fish supper!

I moved from East Lothian to Edinburgh and have been unhappy with most takeaways since, until gorgie fish bar! This chippy is now a weekly occurrence for myself n partner. Great food, great portions and always great service. The chippy itself is one of the cleanest I’ve seen (and I’ve worked in a handful)! Definitely recommend

Called in with my brother and he asked what I wanted.I seen a lovely black pudding in batter I said will have a black pudding supper.My brother had a fish supper and he comes from Anstruther who have 3 great chip shops.We were going to see the Hearts v Ross County.We then devoured both our chippies .It was the best ever,my brother said the fish was excellent and the chips were just a good.Next time we go Tyncastle to see the Hearts,first place of call , Will be the Gorgie Fish bar YumYum

Driver left the order outside a pensioners doorstep on her 69th birthday, He never knocked her door, ultimately, it was there overnight and our neighbourly young urban foxes had a lovely Just Eat delivered,Fish n Chips, love the way u can't gt bk to customer service number for Just Eats Head office lol. That's potentially a loss of orders wn delivery's aren't gtn delivered properly, knock n run or don't knock a tall, its not the Gorgie Fish Bars problem it's Just Eat employing anyone at all

Food was only lukewarm. Scampi and chips were soft not crisps. No vinegar sachet as requested. Will not use The Gorgie Fish Bar again.

Fish n Chips arrived stone cold with greasy batter

Really enjoyed getting takeout here twice while on vacation. Had fish and chips which were great (chips especially good) as well as some yummy pepperoni pizza. Staff were friendly, not to mention efficient considering how busy they were.

There is simply no better way to say yes to chips than to visit The Gorgie Fish bar. Several years ago while on a seemingly endless search for the man with an orange for a head. I stumbled upon a rumour that he came here for his weekly fish supper. I was wrong he actually went to a chippy in Leith. However if you are simply looking for great chips come here.

Went in around 9pm. Got freshly cooked battered fish suppers. Lovely crispy batter and proper good quality fish fillets too. Friendly staff too.

Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que estuve en esta excepcional tienda de fish and chips. Long creía que era la cabeza y los hombros por encima de la mayoría en la ciudad. Encantado de ver que en mi larga ausencia, las cosas no han cambiado. Podría decirse que sirven una de las mejores cenas de pescado de la historia. Si estás demasiado lejos para que te entreguen, compra una bolsa fresca y haz el viaje. El personal es uno de los más serviciales que encontrará, y claramente se enorgullecen de su trabajo. Una de las mejores experiencias de fish and chip, no solo en Edimburgo, sino en el Reino Unido.

Visité una docena de veces ahora cuando estoy en Escocia para un partido en casa de Hearts y mi cena de pescado ha sido de primera clase cada vez, recién cocinado y perfectamente, servicio rápido y las chicas que sirven son siempre amables y educados!

Payed a visit last Sunday...not been in the place for some time....wasn't disappointed....with it being last thing at night was saying to myself that if I got anything it would not be any good....my god the chips where fantastic and so was my mince pie.....hopefully see you soon ...

A superb place to taste a classic of English cuisine: fish and chips! The portions are generous and excellent. I recommend a stop during your stay in Edinburgh!

food was late again and cold delivery man phoned me at 5.35 saying he was at door but he was at a different address am 12/2 he was at number 2 so 15mins later and me standing outside looking for him he turns up on foot hardly wonder how my 3rd order has been cold and I explained to the Indian 12 is my stair number and flat 2 as he told me they see 12/2 the other way around so please explain to your delivery men how to read a address correctly please

Usually the pizzas are always excellent but tonight not quite as good.. felt like different cheese was used.. texture a bit off and a bit salty. Hope it’s back to normal for next time.

The restaurant was wonderful, I put the new address and when I went to check out it didn’t accept the new address and it went back to a different one. Very frustrating. The restaurant was very helpful and kind

This is Edinburgh’s best fish and chips shop. Every time I’ve been the fish goes into the fryer to order and is always cooked to perfection. Even the way it’s wrapped (fish and chips separate) shows the care and attention to give to their suppers.

I do love this place but staff can be a bit of a mixed bag. You are either treated like a long lost relative or a serial killer come to get them. Last night was clearly the latter At about 22.15 I asked for a rump steak and a fish supper but was told NO Could only choose from what was left. Thought about flouncing out but we were starving. Will still probably go again but hopefully we get the prodigal son treatment.

I don’t usually leave reviews, however I thought this deserved one. Absolutely lovely food. Really, really good, food was hot, tasty and will definitely order again. Our regular chippy had to decline our order (not sure why) however I’m glad this happened as we got a great meal instead. Thank you ☺️

Said an hour delivery before ordering, restaurant changed to between 1.5 and 2 hours delivery after ordering then received disappointingly small portions. Not the usual from Gorgie Fish Bar

By mistake, I communicated the wrong address (actually, I inserted the right postcode, and when the site asked me for the billing address I put an address which has been used as delivering address). The delivery man (Mr Belin, if I understood properly his name) came then to the right place and has been kind to me. I am willing to compensate him for the extra time and gasoline he had to consume.

Fish n Chips delivered hot & was as usual Delicious! Unfortunately the mince pie was rock hard inside & out, was inedible.

The last of Edinburgh’s really good chip shops. The food is always 1st class and I’ve been a regular for over 10 years.

My impression was as bad as possible after visiting "The Georgie fish bar" the taste was so disgusting that I spit it all out, it was worse than rubbish. If you don't respect yourself this place is for you 🤮

Great quality as always. Cheeseburger rills could do with maybe more cheese in between them. Seemed like 2 hamburgers fried instead. Just for future! 👍

One of the best fish and chip shops within the country. Foods always amazing. People in the shop are always a delight to speak to makes it much more of an experience within the shop. If you’re within the Edinburgh vicinity I highly recommend you take a visit.

Rude and arrogant staff who literally laughed at me when I said I needed 1 doner meat and chips, sighed and made me feel awkward when I asked her to repeat the range of sauces they served because she spoke too quickly, and tried to pick a fight with me when I clarified that I want doner meat. (Specifically an overweight lady who always takes customer orders). Don't wish to visit this place ever again.

We ordered our food for 2045 - this was the earliest time available and already late for us as it was a busy night. It has been 1hr and 11 minutes, and it's just arrived. It's cold and chewy. Very disappointing as it's normally much better.

The homemade steak pie is a frozen pie with packet puff pastry over the top, very disappointing.

Ordered a vegetable kebab at £6 and received a pitta bread with lettuce, onion, sweetcorn and tomato!

Best chippy in Edinburgh! Grew up near here 20 years ago and loved it then, came back on a visit home and it's still excellent. Staff all still there and friendly as ever. Will be back every time I'm home!
