The best coffee in York! The staff are the sunniest baristas I have ever met. I also highly recommend the walnut, pecan, and banana loaf.

Great find good quality food with delightful service. Whilst there is a limited menu choice it was well prepared and perhaps the most reasonable cost anywhere in York. Good find close to car park and St Johns University.

Honestly love Poppleton Social. They do they best gluten free pizza! The staff are always so helpful and friendly.

Booked this place based on the many good reviews but it failed to meet my expectations overall. Despite booking well in advance we were not sat in the main restaurant but instead downstairs where there was absolutely no atmosphere and only one other table of diners. Our mains were very nice but I felt expensive for the portion size. Dessert was very disappointing - my poppy seed cheesecake wasn't very nice at all. The chocolate top just peeled off it and the filling part just crumbled everywhere, making it impossible to eat. My partners hazelnut and applecake was much nicer. Service was good and friendly.

You know what kind of place Valhalla is (if the name itself isn't enough) when you enter the hallowed walls. Across the threshold you step over the bones and weapons of a fallen Viking, now dining in the great hall with his fellow warriors. Seriously though, Valhalla bar is all about the ambience. It's dark, it's cozy, it's heavy metal. This place is beyond cool, and it would easily be my local if lived in York. My wife and I had dinner here in September 2024. We dined upstairs in the great hall, but there were a few little side areas that looked cool as well. We shared one of the larger charcuterie boards and several glasses of mead. The food was exquisite. There was a boutique Sheffield cheddar that was 'oh my god' good. The mead was delicious; spicy, sweet, fruity. The bar is small, but with lots of choice. Service was quick and friendly on a lightly busy weekday night. I loved York, it's a fantastic city. Can't wait to return, and to drink mead in Valhalla again.

Came here after being let down by a nearby restaurant. It was nearly 9pm and the place was getting quiet, the setting is nice though a little basic. Some of the TA photos show tables with place mats and glasses with coloued knapkins, this would have brightened it up a bit rather than the bare tables. However this is not a negative comment just an observation. We were here to eat... the food was excellent, prawn starter and spring rolls were very tasty. They did ask if we wanted the mains when they cleared the starters or did we want a short break between, that's always nice especially as in some establishments we've been presented with the mains while still eating the starters. The mains were excellent, there didn't look a lot but belive me it was more than enough. The staff were very friendly, the meal was good value for money, and we would return next time in York

Great place to host a meeting, whilst eating and drinking!

As this is an Argentinian steak restaurant, expect a bit of an expense. That said, 4 (steak) mains with two bottle of wine were £165. The food is simple, good, well cooked and well served. Would recommend.
