SOPHiE in York

Not a clue on Coffee! Lovely spot but overpriced for what you are getting!!! Not double check if we were happy or not, some training on coffee would benefit to the Business!

This is a great place for a coffee and a cake right on the Lendal Bridge in York. There’s plenty of seating outside with river views, but it was a bit chilly when we went so we chose to sit inside. The spiral stairs are a bit steep but you can sit on the ground floor (you have to go upstairs to the toilet). We had coffee and cakes which were delicious. The staff were super friendly too.

Nipped in here for a quick drink on a sunny afternoon and sat in the garden area. Service was brilliant and staff were friendly. Drinks outstanding. Would definitely visit again. Keep up the good work! Puts Sora bar next door to shame!

Always liked Dyls, so was curious to see what it the new ownership was doing with the site. The menu is possibly a little more limited, so its more light bites only, but actually I found the food filling enough (wraps can be ordered as salad bowls instead, so I had the caprese salad bowl and it was pretty good). Coffee pretty good too. Nice spot to sit out in - will often have shade as its on the north side of the tower building, but bits here and there in the outdoor area can be in sun.

This place is now another branch of Sophie’s. We visited on an amazing sunny day and were greeted by super friendly staff and delicious looking menu that was hard to not to choose everything on! The food was amazing - banana bread with peanut sauce was definitely big enough to share! Lunches looked good but we just stopped for coffee and cake. Lovely river side setting. Highly recommend.

Lovely spot by the river - cute and tiny inside, pleasant garden outside. Staff friendly and efficient. Ordered soup of the day (carrot and coriander) and a caprese ciabatta. Soup was pleasant enough (but hard to detect coriander). But the bread was definitely past its best. Yesterday or the day before. Not completely stale but definitely past its best. Won’t return for food (almost all the non-cake options are ciabatta). Maybe because it was a Sunday, but that is really no excuse. Might pop in for a coffee one day but won’t try the food again. Shame. Three stars based on staff and location. Food is two stars.

Stunning place with such an idyllic location. Sat outside overlooking the water but inside us just as pretty. Beautifully decorated and has a very modern but quaint feel to it. We had lovely carrot cake and biscoff doughnut but it also does cocktails and other drinks. Steep stairs down to the toilets but all very cute and feels like you’re inside the bridge. Lovely place I’d come back to if visiting York again. As a coffee fan, the flat whites were amazing!!

Not bad. Nice little place (and I mean little!) Also a little pricey, about £21 for 2 sandwiches and 2 orange juices. The stairs are super steep down to the toilets so not great if you have mobility issues. Staff were friendly though.

Food was expensive for what we had but it was really nice. Gluten free cake was lovely, but cross contamination risk for anyone with coeliac disease as kept in same cabinet uncovered as everything else.

We arrived in York by coach and needed a quick lunch before visiting the Railway Museum. We spotted Sophie's and were impressed by the location by the river, the quality of the food and the excellent service.

We were struggling to find somewhere to have a coffee on a very crowded morning in the centre of York. Fortunately we happened to pass by this café which is pleasantly positioned on the bridge over the river. It has an interesting interior and also some outside seating for the better weather. We very much enjoyed our coffee break, even though two flat whites cost £7.

This is such a cute place in a gorgeous location! Lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view of York’s river, and even better cocktails! I always return to Sophie’s when I visit York! They do the best hot choc during the winter!

We have called off here a couple of times now on the way back to the railway station. It’s a lovely quirky place. Great coffees and wonderful staff, A real treat.

What a fabulous little cafe so good we came back the next day! We had the sharing platter which was excellent and beautifully presented. A great find with great service, would highly recommended plus you have a view of the river so what’s not to love!

Charming character building on Lendal Bridge with outside seating ,popped in for a drink on our way to the railway station,the decor is lovely and the staff so friendly ,even tho they were about to close up ,there was no rush ,we had 3 drinks ,that says it all really ,we will always pop in when we visit York ,and the views over the river are fab

Popped into Sophie this weekend. Lovely little place with lovely staff. Quality cocktails - the best aperol spritz I have ever tasted! Can’t wait to go back and sit in the garden in the sunshine.

Quite disappointed. We went here mid afternoon. Lovely scenery. However not a big choice of food. We both had a ciabatta, did find these very tough going on the teeth and jaws, was unable to finish mine. We were the only customers in the cafe and we did get the impression that the staff were looking to close it as they were tidying up around us as we ate.

On a weeks holiday in York ,out bright and early ,we were walking around this part of town when we decided to drop into Sophie ,a cafe bar we always look forward to visiting. A wonderful looking cafe bar,exposed stone work,great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this cafe bar and housed in a superb former toll booth along Lendal Bridge. We were here on a freezing cold afternoon,we ordered coffees ,these were served steaming hot ,we just kicked back and took in the great cafe bar we were in. My coffee was really good,from the first sip till the lasts up you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve,it was just so good being in such a lovely cafe bar enjoying a quality brew. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here and our visit,it's a cafe bar easy to locate along Lebdal Bridge and is most definitely well worth visiting.
