Nice venue, food was expensive for what you got, very basic. Initial waiter was pleasant and friendly, let down by the management who were rude, argumentative and arrogant. Will not be returning.

What a little hidden gem this place is! A lovely relaxing spot in the sunshine, quiet with extremely friendly staff, a short walk from The Shambles. We were greeted right away and shown to an outdoor table. The coffees and hot chocolate were wonderful, the best we’ve had in a long time. We also ordered a small hot chocolate for our child, and the owner was so warm and friendly asking if he’d enjoyed it, and even later returned with a little complementary brownie bite for him. We also had our dog with us and they were very dog friendly and made a lovely fuss of him. We would definitely return and recommend this lovely place to all! You will certainly be treated well :)

Out of all the coffee shops we tried, Trio's served the best coffee! The coffee was smooth, strong, but not bitter and had lovely fragrant taste. This shop is run by a lovely family, who took the time to chat to us and even took the time to teach me some Turkish. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

A hidden gem…. Keep walking to the bottom of the shambles and you will find a sunny spot to sit for coffee or tea and a lovely selection of cakes. Very friendly service run by a jolly family! Also their restaurant next door, and although I did not dine, the menu looked inviting.

After a wonderful evening in the kitchen and bar of Trio, we came to the cafe for coffee and were able to thank Mehmet, Sam, Gunesh and Matt personally for their kind hospitality despite how full the place was! The food and drink , as usual, were perfect! Judge for yourself from the photo below. PS, that is the man himself in the background and a more likeable gentleman you could not meet. So why not visit and shake Mehmet by his hand?!

This was a disappointing visit. We order coffees and sandwiches. The coffees arrived but no sign of the sandwiches. We didn't have a lot of time as we had booked to go to the York Story (definitely worth it) so my sister asked how long they would be at the counter. When she realised they hadn't started making them she asked if we could have them to take out. They were put in brown paper bags but they hadn't been cut in half or squares or triangles. Just two slices of bread slapped together with a filling. Not very satisfactory.

I enjoyed the brie and caramelised onion panini, though it was £7.95.... Hot chocolate was £3.70. Small, busy popular place. Very nice inside. Has sheltered outdoor seating to the front on the pavement. Loyalty card system. Pleasant ambience. At busy times and if it's a cold day, you may struggle to get an indoor seat.

Delightful coffee shop - great drinks and lovely sweet treats. The most lovely, friendly staff - if we lived nearby, we would be here every week!

My favourite stop for a coffee and cake in York.

Came here with my mom after we had dinner the previous night in their restaurant. My mom loves Turkish coffee and said she loved this one. I had the hot chocolate which was great too. The place itself it’s small, but very aesthetically pleasing. We had a chat with the girl behind the counter who turned out to be Romanian just like us, she was nice and we chatted a bit. It felt comforting. We also had a conversation with the owners and the chef who made our food the nice before, they happened to be there too. Very nice people truly. Overall we had a good experience here

We were quite disappointed by our visit to this café. The interior of the café part of the business is really quite small and cramped. The flat white coffee turned out to be just a very large milky coffee and they cost £3.44 each.

well positioned cafe near park and ride bus stop. very popular place with nice decor/ambience. coffee and almost croissant and flapjack were particularly tasty.

Nice little spot to sit and people watch. The staff were very pleasant. Cake was very nice but quite pricey.

This feels part way between a large chain and a little independent. Needs a little more charm. More butter per order please - one of those tiny foil wrapped sachets is never enough!

Noisy, not very fast, in a busy place

Visited here when we arrived in york for the day & were looking for somewhere to eat. We ordered a few tapas between us. The staff were friendly & efficient. The service was good. The food was lovely although our patatas braves were rather cold by the time they reached our table, this is our only complaint though, we possibly should of said so but wasn't a massive big deal! Thank you

Turkish coffee was okay, not the best to be fair! The waitress was rude and unfriendly! After reading through the reviews turns out we were not the only people who have been treated horribly! Not coming back for sure!

What a lovely warm welcome staff we're working very hard on Saturday when we sat and had a lovely coffee and late lunch. Nothing was any trouble for the staff. Been here a few times over the lady few years, Well mannered staff even when under pressure a credit to the management they deserve more than five stars I would say 10 🌟. Look forward to visiting again thankyou.

Fantastic place, came to York for the Christmas market, couldn't find anywhere to eat. Came here, they set us up out side and brought blankets for us so we wouldn't get cold. Brilliant service, brilliant food, lovely location.

While on a day trip to York on a wet and windy morning we stopped at this patisserie for coffee and cake. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our coffee, hot chocolate carrot cake and pain au chocolat then happily continued exploring York.

Fantastic and friendly family run business ! We had tapas in restaurant the night before great food and cocktails and decided to go for coffees at the Parisian styled patisserie the following day. Very warm friendly and atmospheric both businesses.

Not only is Trio on the shortest street in York, you can sit and watch the world go by, having a fantastic coffee and beautiful pastry. Wonderful family run place, who are really friendly and welcoming.

A very bad behaviour from the waitress. She asked us to move to a different table although the table we chose wasn't reserved. We were three people while the table is for four. I wouldn't mind moving if she asked in polite way.

Very expensive for what is on offer. In fairness the cakes were nice but high priced and nothing out of the ordinary. The sandwiches come without butter on the bread and only had 2 slices of cucumber as a side garnish. The cheese was tasteless. The young gentleman waiter was lovely but we won’t be coming again due to the poor value for money and no flexibility of catering for children.

We happened upon this place by chance, and were so impressed. The owner was very attentive and welcoming, the food was great and the coffee and Turkish tea really good. We stayed for around 30-45 mins and all 4 of us (visited with my partner and parents) were all really taken with the Trio Patisserie. We’d definitely come back again - sadly we don’t live closer!

A warm simit (the round bagel like ring), a hot Turkish coffee and a cold sunny day in York under the outside warming heaters. What could be better? A year later and back yet again in the warm winter sun. Still a favourite place for a Turkish coffee and a warm simit.

Was that the nicest tasting raspberry cheesecake I have ever tasted?? Yes it was!!! I must visit Trio again before leaving York...

Found this little cafe on Google , love Turkish cuisine and there coffee so gave it a try , the gentleman that served us was the owner , sat down outside and within 6 or 7 minutes out came our drinks my Turkish coffee which the owner suggested medium sweet was absolutely perfect in everyway , came with the glass of water a piece of Turkish delight and 2 pieces of Balava which was divine one of the best coffees I've had even in Turkey , the staff and the owner were amazing

Clearly a family business. Good attention to detail nice selection of coffees and cakes. Both I door and outdoor areas. Both good for people watching.

First visit to Trio, we had fabulous Tapas upstairs very clean / comfy seats, the waiter was exceptional polite & friendly, I mentioned my Birthday & was presented with a lovely cocktail. Will visit again.

The food was okay for the price we paid, however we were a bit shocked at the weird cocktail menu descriptions that had quite offensive and misogynistic vibes about them. Could do better and re-evaluate this for the future?!

Tucked in the shortest of York streets Trio as a cafe is still nestled into the corner with indoor and outdoor seating. they have opened a tapas place in the adjacent building which I hope to try but I needed coffee and this cafe delivers perfect rich coffee every time. It is unhurried and the range of cakes and pastries available is very tempting every visit. Order at the counter and then the coffee is delivered to your socially distanced table. What a joy to be able to enjoy this place again.

Either for a joyful afternoon tea or a different breakfast. I always enjoy the service, hygiene amazing friendly staff and excellent food and beverage freshly made. Feels like home 🏡

The ladies who were working were fabulous, no problems with service at all. However the Pan ò Chocolate i had looked fresh and warm, but felt mass produced and tasted pretty cheap and soggy, the coffee, i asked for a Large Iced Americano. I got what i ordered but the coffee tasted really poor. There was a sour after taste which lingered and the coffee its self tasted over brewed to burned. There are so many coffee shops nearby offering a better quality, therefore i would not go here again due to the poor quality of the products i bought.

This is a fabulous place…. Such a warm welcome with really kind and helpful hosts. We dropped in for a breakfast pastry and coffee- both were fab! I had an almond croissant and my husband had the gluten free flapjack, which was filled with goodies…delish! We’ll be back!

Been here a few times since they have opened and each time it has been amazing. As someone who works in the hospitality industry myself it’s no nice and refreshing for each member of staff, (Tamara and Panikkos included), or management you experience to take the time to talk to the tables and find out about them and take a genuine interest. Dennis and Jenk are incredible at making you feel welcome and for my 30th Birthday today I had a special Happy Birthday desert brought out to me. Such a nice and unexpected touch. Thank you so much both and see you again soon! Xxx

Chose this lovely little cafe for a cake treat when in York. Went inside to order and the choice was so varied I found it hard to pick which cake. Eventually choosing a mango cheesecake - delicious! We sat outside watching the world go by. The owner came out and chatted, and all the staff friendly. Lovely to see an independent doing well. Visit here!

Very busy day in York and we managed to get a table here. Exceptional service and the tapas was delightful. Very friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

Drinks were good and the staff were lovely. Price is low but you get what you pay for. The tapas quality was low. Arancini was dry with no tomato sauce, the Crostini was tasteless and the Patatas bravas was dry and the potatoes felt frozen, not fresh. Wouldn’t return.

A really nice place to eat but also to take a relaxing coffee in your mornings. The Starr is really friendship and their food and coffee taste amazing. I love to make a visit every Sunday to order the best capuccino in the city.

Such a lovely place me and my boyfriend were both served my Ana and Katrina which were both the loveliest waitress I’ve encountered. Killer cocktails and maxing food I strongly recommend and will definitely return soon☺️

Under the Covid restrictions, the three of us needed somewhere to eat outside. We found Trio, which has a small number of outside tables in a pleasant corner spot, and had a very good tapas meal followed by nice patisserie desserts. The staff were friendly, hard working and helpful. A lovely experience - thank you!

Very fancy restaurant. The wine I got was perfect for me. The potatoes was kind of basic but I did not expected nothing more. The dessert with pistachios was really good. I am not exactly sure if I would give them 5 stars for the food but for the wine, service and atmosphere - 5 stars is not enough. Toilets are clean and comfortable too and I think it is very important. Would recoomend!

Try their luxury beefburger, chips and salad with a pint of Turkish very good beer for a tenner or lots of other food alternatives. We live in york. We will be visiting again!

Trio was so well recommended by a friend that I decided to meet another friend for lunch there. Neither of us had been before. We needed to be able to eat outside, under cover, with some heating. It would have been possible to have eaten inside in lovely surroundings had we been able to though. We shared four mezze which were fresh, authentic, and totally delicious - and much nicer than those in a better-known tapas/mezze chain in York. The service could not have been bettered either. We both loved it and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Had some sort of Turkish pastry which was lovely and the latte was good as well

Vine a visitar York durante el fin de semana y este lugar nos llamó la atención. La comida fue absolutamente fantástica, no me puedo quejar en absoluto y el personal fue increíblemente atento. El chuletón fue uno de los mejores que hemos probado. . . ¡Estoy deseando volver a visitarnos en el futuro!

Llegamos a York el viernes y sabíamos que seguro volveríamos a visitar esta pastelería. Serían tres años en octubre desde la última vez que visitamos York, vea mi reseña anterior. . Son un negocio familiar y son encantadores y amables y tienen como objetivo hacer que su visita sea tan acogedora. Acababan de abrir cuando visitamos en 2017. Ambos se acordaron de nosotros. Mi hija tomó un latte de caramelo y yo un capuchino acompañado de bollos de canela.

We visited here just to get a snack and were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. They serve amazing Turkish snacks and pastries. We had a very satisfying experience. A must visit for this family run cafe.

Lived in York around 2 years now but only just come across this beautiful place about a month ago and it has become our favourite. The authenticity, the food, the staff everything about this place is incredible. They are opening a tapas bar next door which I also can't wait to try

We stumbled across this patisserie and stopped for a coffee with feta cheese pastry and croissant absolutely beautiful! The little pastries and cakes are out of this worked highly recommend the pistachio cookies and cinnamon roll. Mehmet and his wife are very welcoming and make you feel so at home

Whip ma whop ma gate is short but with a long name. Trio is small but with a big personality. Excellent coffee - and the Turkish coffee is excellent too- with a good selection of cake, including Baklava. A very few tables inside and another two or three outside. I liked this place just because it is small, different and with good service. It is in a quieter corner than many places and perhaps gets overlooked. Worth checking it out.

This cafe is awesome. Wonderful coffee, teas and amazing staff....not to mention the fabulous traditional Turkish treats!!!😁😁
