Delicious. The second floor seating is very charming. Very to the point and elegantly crafted pasta dishes.

Saw the sandwiches in the window and knew this was where we needed to get lunch. Ordered sandwiches to take away, and they were toasted to perfection. Good tasting food and friendly staff. Would recommend for lunch 👍.

Fish & Forest – A Hidden Gem in York Wow—Fish & Forest! My first visit, and I was absolutely not disappointed. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in York. At first glance, the food appears simple, relying on top-quality, seasonal ingredients. But as you dive deeper into each dish, you realize the incredible complexity behind every bite. The balance of subtle flavors, unexpected bursts of taste, and delicate textures is truly impressive. I started with the crab and rhubarb tart, and I just didn’t want it to end. It was delicate yet packed with evolving flavors that became richer as I ate. Then came the cod—and honestly, it was the best cod I’ve ever had. I have no idea what was in the sauce, but it was absolutely delicious. The staff know their ingredients inside out, and their passion for the food is evident. They were genuinely delighted to see us enjoying our meal, which made the experience even better. The venue itself is simple and unassuming—just like their food, letting quality and execution take center stage. Understated, but pure class. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Absolutely a little bit of magic in York!

Comida tailandesa aromática increíble. Comí el plato de pollo con fideos de Singapur y mi esposa tenía los pinchos de pollo Satay con salsa de cacahuetes. 2 platos brillantes que eran llenos y sabrosos. Vale la pena intentarlo, no te decepcionará.

A properly run and very welcoming village pub. It opens every day from noon, and that in itself gives it top marks! Slowly being returned to a more traditional internal decor which again is a very welcome move.

El café sabe bien, el tamaño es demasiado pequeño para el precio que están pidiendo. El personal no escucha a sus clientes, en dos ocasiones he pedido mi café blanco plano sin espuma que ha venido con al menos 2 ins de espuma y casi nada de leche en la bebida!

Great coffee shop with a lot of choice of delicious drinks and cakes. Poppy is always very friendly and welcoming!

Great fish and chips, nice staff, excellent prices.

You can tell immediately Dough only sells quality products, and we kept coming back for their sandwiches, both as breakfast and take away lunch. The staff were friendly and on great terms with all their regular clients. Definitely a good choice.

Super coffee (decaff and standard) and cakes, a great spot to meet friends!

Great quirky bar, we absolutely loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit.
