The best restaurants in Streonshalh Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

Albert’s became a family favourite after our last visit in 2021 - a fantastic location offering a wonderful choice of seafood, served professionally and with a touch of sophistication. In 2023 we had family from USA and Australia visiting, so on a trip to Whitby we booked Albert’s as a way of showcasing the ‘Best of British’ - unfortunately in the intervening period, the standard has dropped significantly. Menu choices were limited (the seafood platters we were expecting weren’t available) and whilst the service was friendly, it felt overall like we were eating at a slightly upmarket cafe - such a waste of the wonderful location. Hopefully the people running Albert’s can recruit well and get the kitchen back to where it used to be, and a bit of training for front of house to bring back the special feel that it we experienced on our earlier visit.

We returned here for a sixth year in a row and weren’t disappointed. Would definitely recommend to others - food is delicious with a varied menu and lots of vegetarian options. Food is some of the best in Whitby. Thank you!

Nice setting, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Felt the drinks were overpriced and the pizza more than we would pay when back home. Hence no starter or dessert. Pizza was however very nice and we enjoyed our meal

Although it is slap bang in the middle of the tourist area, the Black Horse is our favourite pub whenever we visit Whitby. It is a relatively small pub with a cosy snug at the front and a slightly larger bar at the rear. The atmosphere is invariably cosy and the beers and Yapas (Yorkshire tapas!) are very good. The service is also welcoming and good.

Encontré este pequeño lugar encantador por casualidad, pequeño y acogedor. Buena selección en el menú, los dos elegimos un bocadillo, uno de jamón y tomate y el otro de jamón, tomate y cebolla. Vinieron con o sin ensalada y ensalada de col. Encantadores bocadillos hechos por encargo, el único negativo fue que la ensalada de col era una cantidad tan pequeña que parecía que se había medido con una cucharadita pero por lo demás era excelente. Sin duda volveremos cuando visitemos Whitby.

Decepcionado no hay muchas opciones en pasteles. Nada parecía atractivo, así que solo tomé té. Sin ambiente. Arriba, así que no es adecuado para cualquier persona con problemas de movilidad. Las escaleras son negras y necesitan bordes de color / peligro. Iba a reservar el té de la tarde tan contento de que no lo hicimos. Lo siento, pero no creo que vuelva.

Pasamos un fin de semana en Whitby y reservamos este restaurante con antelación. ¡Omg, qué puedo decir! El ambiente y la decoración era precioso, la comida era increíble y el personal era muy amable y servicial. Sin duda recomendaría a cualquiera, no te decepcionará

This is a lovely place. Lots of veggie & vegan options for brunch. Food was excellent quality.

Great pub. God selection of beers. Outside area facing Marina. Very good traditional pub. Nice warm fires if there's a chill outside. Local musicians usually have jamming nights on a Wednesday. All are welcome to listen and join in if you are so inclined... Try it out, and you will enjoy it..

Tried a couple of times as saw it get reccomded a few times and wanted to give it a fair chance to hopefully find somewhere we can go regularly. Both times were pretty poor, first time we went all the chips were dripping in oil and soggy, the fish was average. The second time we went the chips were cold and hard 😩 went from one extreme to the next, really inconsistent unfortunately and below average on both occasions, we should have learned from the first time we tried but assumed they were mayby having a bad day hence trying for a second time.

I visited this place last year and had a great experience, which made me excited to return. Unfortunately, this time was a huge disappointment. The cocktails lacked flavor, French-themed music replaced with common pop and the staff was unwelcoming. Really sad to see such a change.

Lovely local, very relaxing and 1st class barmaid. Gave me a glass after a discussion on it's origin. Will toast her and your bar with a tia maria on New Years Eve.

Best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time ! Fish tasted so fresh lovely light batter, Curry sauce was fantastic as well could easily park close by as well

What a great find, literally walking past thought looked nice few tables free. We had Meze with bottle wine, four dishes and fluffy bread £54. All the dishes we had were scrumptious,very fresh, loved the bread. We would definitely recommend.

Good price for a quick takeaway..we enjoyed the tarter & curry sauces just wish the chips were a little crisper, great location!
