Lovely pub looking over the harbour. Good atmosphere and well priced drinks.

Likeable pub slightly away from the tourists. Good beer and superb views of the Esk. UPDATE. Been in a couple of times, 30th and 31st March 2023 and the whole pub is much improved. I can see myself settling in here! They've extended the superb outside area and the Fleece now seems to have its own identity. I have raised my original 3 star rating 4 stars.

Two pints, two rolls and a piece of pork pie. Magic, bar staff very busy, did a good job but needed another body to help her.

A lovely pub with seating at rear of pub with views of the harbour but our highlight on our visit was the three men who visit the pub and sing playing guitar and violin this was just so entertaining and relaxing whilst having a drink on a warm summer's evening 👌

We only had a beer but it was busy and it all seemed good.

Lovely pub looking over the harbour found it by chance having a wonder about and enjoyed it so much we have booked to come back to Whitby so we can go back to this pub, lovely staff very friendly and bar snacks were lovely (corned beef and onion sandwich) decent drinks too and very reasonably priced.

A little bit out of the main town but worth the short walk. Very roomy inside, lots of seating, outside there is a terrace overlooking the marina with more tables to enjoy the afternoon sun.

Nice little pub & I mean PUB, not a gastro pub, the food is old fashioned bar snacks, rolls, pork pies & sausage rolls too. Really good pint over looking the harbour. Will be back for a few pints.

I can't recommend this pub enough. Visited a lot of pubs throughout my visit and felt so comfortable here. Great selection of draft and well looked after. The barman Si was very accommodating and helped us immensely. A lovely genuine man that had plenty of time for the punters. Warm, well decorated, amazing view. Family friendly and all dogs welcome.

Went in for a quick pint (or 3) on Christmas Day. Lovely welcoming place. Well-kept, charming original features. Open fire, dog friendly, friendly staff and punters. Felt right at home. Lovely real ales and rum selection. Would visit again and definitely recommend.

Nice place to chill with friends

Called for a drink as we hadn't been before. Nice pint of Guinness which the young lady did a clover 🍀 pattern on the top😁. It was nice to sit outside on the veranda which has plenty of seating. Was nice inside too with the open fire🔥. Will definitely call again.

On a cold & windy night it was a pleasure to step inside this warm & comfortable pub to enjoy a couple of well poured & tasty beers. If I lived in Whitby I think The Fleece would become my local.

Second year of visiting this pub and it’s been exactly the same experience, with a warm, inviting and welcoming atmosphere. Really decent prices on the drinks and lots of different seating areas, inside and out. We really would like to mention Simon (the barman) he is an absolute credit to the place, he has a cracking sense of humour and goes above and beyond for his customers. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Decent pub, with quite a large amount of space. We came in looking for the rugby and luckily it was on in the snug. 3 real ales on, two very common ones and one local one from Whitby Brewery. Staff were friendly and the cobs looked good

Possibly our favourite stop on the Whitby pub crawl, typically discovered on the last evening 🙈 Lovely setting beside the river/estuary, we watched the sun go down with good draught beer and rum! Dog friendly; parrot friendly(yes I saw a man with a parrot here) and with friendly staff, we nattered away with locals and other holiday makers alike. Lovely, friendly vibe. Recommend highly!!

Totally enjoyed our wedding reception there on the 17th September... We were lucky enough to have something lovely weather so Angela the landlady decorated the outside balcony for us, it looked lovely and was very comfortable for all my guests with an amazing view to add . Once again... Thank you Angela and your staff for making our day one of the best Kind regards jade & rich xx

We were looking for a friendly atmosphere with great prices. After popping into quite a few pubs with no atmosphere and bored staff who were more interested in their phones, we found this GEM. The people who work there instantly made you feel like a regular. Unfortunately I can’t remember all the names (Julie, Simon, young female a name we couldn’t pronounce, Irish) the regulars made you feel welcome ( Nicole , Bobby & others).The lady that runs it we wish you every success, you have a great pub and great staff.The only reason I can’t rate the food we didn’t have any. Simon thank you for the glue to fix my boots. To the landlady, we helped you unload your car. If everyone tries your establishment, they will not want to go anywhere. One of the best outside locations in Whitby to have a drink. The beer garden overlooks the harbour/marina, and it's a great sunny spot. Beer ok, wine not so great. A bit more of a pub for locals than tourists I think.

What a gorgeous place to watch the sunset. Lucky enough to sit on the balcony overlooking the water. Very atmospheric as the fog rolled in! Nice mix of locals and tourists. Everyone was welcome. Great staff who remembered drinks and made you feel like a local straight away. We did spend a nice few hours just chilling.

Played in a session here for folk week. The rear patio overlooking the harbour is lovely. Lots of good cask ales I'm sure. Sadly I was driving and unable to partake.

I love the fleece, it's even better now they have extended the outside balcony. The view is gorgeous at anytime of day but especially sunset. Go on folk week as there's always someone singing.

Great place for an afternoon drink after a day around Whitby, good selection of drinks, there's also a small selection of snacks on the bar of sandwiches and pies and a good selection of crisps too. There are pizzas on offer too but we didn't get a chance to try them but did look good

Great little pub set away from the full-on hustle & bustle of a very busy Whitby. Lovely new extension to the outside area, making it much bigger than it was. Great for catching the afternoon sun.

The pub seemed quiet when we arrived, but that is because almost everyone was sitting outside, as the pub has a seating area with views across the harbour. We decided to sit inside. The barman was friendly and we didn’t have to wait long at all to get served. There were three cask ales on the pump, and I had a Black Sheep Bitter, which was in excellent condition. We also had some generously filled ham cheese and pickle rolls, and some delicious pork pie. Prices were very reasonable too.
