Great coffee and great food. Always pop in here when I am in the village. Great selection of food and cakes. Lots to chooses from and fresh bread to takeaway. Sarah's cakes are to die for.

Well. I'm 62 years old and been eating bacon sandwiches all my life. I have got to say that the Bacon and black pudding sandwich I had at this lovely little cafe was the best I have EVER had!! Ok it was £8 but the home made bread,3 rashers of dry cured back bacon and a nice slice of Doreen's black pudding was marvellous. My wife also had the most amazing gluten free chocolate torte. Staff were also very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back very soon .

The Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge is an absolute gem, offering a warm welcome, stunning views, and top-notch food in a truly unique setting. Nestled high on the North York Moors, this historic inn provides breathtaking scenery that adds to the charm of the experience. Whether visiting for a hearty meal, a drink by the fire, or an overnight stay, it never disappoints. The atmosphere is everything you’d want from a traditional country pub—cosy, inviting, and full of character. The roaring fire creates the perfect setting in colder months, while the outdoor seating area is ideal for enjoying the spectacular views on a sunny day. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The food is outstanding, with generous portions and a great selection of home-cooked classics. The steak and ale pie is a must-try, packed with flavour and served with perfectly crisp chips. The Sunday roasts are equally impressive, offering tender meats and all the trimmings. A great selection of ales complements the menu perfectly. Whether you’re a walker, biker, or just passing through, The Lion Inn is a must-visit. It’s a truly special place, and I can’t wait to return!

Stopped for drinks with 8 friends (4couples) and enjoyed some great hospitality. Very pleasant and well-organised young bar lady who is a real asset to the pub. Great selection of ales including Theakston’s Best as well as a few others. Very friendly locals and loads of dogs in the bar which was great. Open fire going nicely and a really welcoming pub. The specials menu alone looked fantastic- so much so that we’re coming back next week when we’re in the area again. Great pub - not far off the main road and definitely worth seeking out.

Me and my husband went for a meal on Easter Sunday tea time , we both fancied fish and chips , the chips were overdone , the fish was of a decent size but unfortunately the batter was soggy and greasy , we stayed at the campsite up the road but sadly won’t return here for food , and the manager was as grumpy as hell ! I thought hospitality was struggling at the moment well this guy may need to go to a brush up school to entice customers to return ! Shane because the pub was a little gem 👍

Has gone down hill since our visit last year, have chefs changed? Never used to serve frozen onion rings, also lots of old cigarette ends at front door and on a quiet early evening dirty glasses on outside tables on arrival, still there when we left.

We booked a table for 1pm and arrived in good time to find the place marginally busy. We were shown to a table then left to our own devices with the menu for some time. Staff were less than attentive but eventually took our order, only to be told shortly after that some of our order was no available, then they disappeared again. We had to summon a waitress to complete our order. The meal arrived 45 minutes after sitting down and was more memorable for its quantity rather than quality. A bit of a disappointment really The surroundings are excellent and a joy to behold so it wasn't all bad.

We were partaking in a circular walk of the areas and were returning to Hutton le hole. Called in here on the off chance as it was around lunch time. Great traditional pub, nice simple menu. The place seemed to be around half full (as it was a Thursday and not in holiday time I thought that was pretty impressive given the pubs out of the way location) We only ordered drinks and a sandwich, but the food was really good, home made fish goujons and a really interesting side salad Well worth a visit
