The best restaurants in Dales Ryedale Yorkshire and The Humber

Called in for a spot of lunch , very busy even in November , the place oozes quality , I had the tomato and basil soup with homemade bread, probably the best soup I've ever had very filling , this is a cracking place .

It was nice enough. The location is amazing and the view stunning and very tranquil but the food was just OK. The waitress was lovely and friendly and chatty and you get a discount if you’ve been to the museum. I wouldn’t hurry back and would try one of the neighbouring places first.

Great coffee and great food. Always pop in here when I am in the village. Great selection of food and cakes. Lots to chooses from and fresh bread to takeaway. Sarah's cakes are to die for.

This a must for Walkers Hikers a great Tea Garden we had a lovely time Maggie served us with a pot of coffee with hot milk and cream tea at Fodder" it was perfect

Called in for a takeaway sandwich on a Saturday morning. Lots of sandwich choice and had a lot of homemade deli items on offer. Staff were really friendly, and happy to make a bespoke sandwich order, rather than off the menu. Sandwich was delicious, and sausage roll was too!

Stunning location with exceptional service - you couldn’t ask for more. Thank you everyone at the Lastingham Grange!

Stayed Saturday 28th December 2024 Lovely clean , comfortable room . Beautiful evening meal . Highly recommend steak pie 😁 Unfortunately breakfast was disappointing Table for five . Three full English ordered along with poached eggs . After a lengthy wait two breakfast arrived which we were told had been ordered without hash browns . This was not the case . We accepted the food and hash browns were brought separately. Unfortunately myself and husband continued to wait for our food . After a ridiculous amount of time I asked a staff member about our food . She clearly had no idea what I was talking about but went through to the kitchen and reordered . Eventually it arrived but unfortunately no apology was given . Sorry I myself work in hospitality and this is not acceptable. An apology wouldn’t have gone a miss considering our party of five all ended up eating separately. Maybe a little retraining in customer service for certain staff members would be an idea . Also there was only our table of five and another couple eating at the time so In my opinion not run off their feet at that point . All this being said it wouldn’t put me off staying again .

Had a lovely afternoon tea , staff very polite and couldn't do enough for you , The Grange is very quaint and very well kept , the gardens looked great but unfortunately the weather wasn't its best .

Really lovely place to stay, so homely and lots of room for a family of 5! Brilliant stay, highly recommended.

Another fantastic stay where the staff are very helpful and friendly. Food very good and breakfast excellent. Rooms very good and were warm and clean. Good bar with plenty of choice and reasonable prices. Real coal fires in the inn creating a good atmosphere. Have stayed several times and had another great stay. Would highly recommend and will stay again.

Pretty pub with interesting dining booths, the Christmas tree and fairy lights plus a great fire created a warm and friendly atmosphere. We thought £19.95 was a bit on the high side for the crispy belly pork, but actually it was a generous portion and delicious. We will eat here again next time we’re over this way.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Royal Oak, loverly accommodation, great food and lovely staff. All this and such great value, we're planning to return next year.

We have been here a few times and it has always been very good. Venison was delicious. Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

From checking in to leaving, our experience was 1st class. A stunning little pub, with a vibrant atmosphere mainly created by the locals that frequent there. Staff were nothing short of amazing, and the food is to die for. Loved our stay, warm, cosy, friendly, and just a brilliant place to chill out, relax, have some great food, and some good craic. Thanks to everyone who works tirelessly to make this place work. Loved it.

On arrival everything seemed to be ok , we checked in and the young girl showed us to our room, however on route she forgot to mention to my 5 foot 11 inches husband there was a low doorway,and he bumped his head ! egg swelling and small cut later she apologised and asked if we needed first aid box , at no point in our stay did the management apologise for this . I suggested strongly they ought to have signs up to inform guests or this ! Before we went out for the eve the signs were up ! No help to my husband ! We weren’t told what time breakfast was served or if we were out late the key was for a rear door or any other information for that fact. The room was basic and ok for the price and the breakfast was very good, but it was very much a see to yourself place, I was very disappointed as we were visiting friends and it was just the lack or recognition of the injury my husband suffered in this establishment . I doubt I will get a response from them we’ll see !
