Having visited the cafe in April on holiday and had a wonderful experience, we decided to go along for lunch on our holiday in September. The food was as good as remembered, very delicious, great quality and also exceptional value! We were too full after our lunch so got cake to take away for later in the day. The selection of cakes was vast and did not disappoint. We even decided to stop by today to get more takeaway cake and the selection was completely different bit still as delicious, best cakes we have had in a long while. We highly recommend this cafe and will definitely return next April during our next holiday

One of the best cafes in Rosedale. Extensive menu and a changing list of “specials” Food is of exceptional quality and quantity. Deserts are scrumptious. Seating is at a premium so it is always advisable to book ahead. If weather allows there is also an outdoor seating area. There is always a smile and a greeting from the very helpful staff.

Whenever I'm visiting Middlesbrough I always drive out to Rosedale and pay a visit to Graze on the Green. The food, coffee and location are great. I always like to sit outside in the good weather and the establishment is dog-friendly. On my most recent visit, the staff went the extra mile answering questions about ingredients. I booked a table via email, and it was ready for us even though we arrived early. I can't praise this place and the staff highly enough.

An excellent scrambled egg on toast with smoked salmon 😋 There was just the right quantity of toast 🍞 too, served on the side, which in my view prevents the toast from becoming soggy! Brilliant coffee ☕️, plus a lovely friendly service. Well worth visiting, but booking is advisable ☎️

We were given a recommendation about this establishment and decided to give it a try. The drive from Whitby was very scenic and the village is beautiful. I can honestly say we had the best lunch even though we only had a sandwich. The fillings were delicious and the bread was top quality. We took away a cream tea. The scone was superb and the jam was clearly home made and very special. We cannot wait to go back the next time we are on holiday.

Located in a beautiful location. Friendly staff. Food ranges from soups, sandwiches, quiches and salads. All homemade and very well presented. I had the tomato and basil soup which came with a big wedge of homemade crusty bread. All the meals that our group of 5 had were really good. Had to leave room for the cakes that were beautifully displayed. As this is a small café with good food we recommend booking in advance.

We stopped here for lunch on the first day of our short break in Rosedale Abbey. There's a pretty little tea garden. We ate inside as it was a bit cool, and were lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked. The food was so good that we came back for takeaway another day, knowing we'd be away from Rosedale at lunchtime. The attention to detail is fantastic - beautiful side salads with the sandwiches, excellent coffee and tea, and the cakes - what can I say? Outstanding!I think other revewers have said it already - but the carrot cake and bakewell tart have to be the best ever. We will be back.

Quite simply the best "Full English" breakfast I've ever eaten. I've done a lot of Business travel and stayed and eaten far and wide in the UK but this mornings breakfast at this little gem of a place surpasses everything before it. Welcome friendly service, good management of Covid regulations, and charming deli/store to boot. Good quality ingredients, cooked well (to order so a bit of a wait but that's not a criticism... goods things are worth the wait) and served piping hot. One of my bugbears is cold toast served with breakfast but none of that malarkey here. Top quality coffee again served piping hot too. Would definitely visit and given it's right in the heart of one of the most beautiful dales in Yorkshire why wouldn't you.Thank you, you've made my weekend.

Very disappointing. Drove through some beautiful countryside with this place set as our destination. Wish we hadn’t bothered. We were welcomed and shown to a table then just left there. The waitresses came past many times as they served what were obviously local folk. Extremely frustrating and damn right rude the way we were ignored. I recommend avoiding if you are not “the right sort”. Ended up walking out and happy not to give them any money.

Wonderful little cafe in Rosedale. We visited a couple of weeks ago and bought tasty cakes and sandwiches, the highlight being Chocolate and Baileys brownie which was heavenly. This gorgeous eatery has certainly put Rosedale on the map and we will make the 45 minute drive just to eat here. Great service, outstanding food and wonderful location. Useful garden to the side for al fresco dining and plenty of space on the green opposite to eat takeout food. Or drive up Chimney Bank and over the moor top, there is a lovely grassed area by the river about a mile along this road to eat your goodies. We've just heard about James' accident and wish him a speedy recovery (check out Facebook page), in the meantime if you are visiting please support these guys and be patient with limited menus & unexpected closures.

It was busy in the village but we managed to park and bought two lattes, a ham salad sandwich and a coronation chicken sandwich which we ate across on The Green opposite as the tea garden was full. Outstanding! We visited as a family of four, delighted to find the peaceful garden where lunches and drinks are currently being served. The kitchen was very flexible with my dietary requirements and worked up a bespoke toastie (off the menu) for my son too. We went camping in Rosedale Abbey at the beginning of September, and visited this cafe on three separate occasions. Only two customers are allowed in at a time. The first time we bought a lemon cake, a fruit tart (sorry I can't remember the exact names of these two cakes) a battenberg cake, and a raspberry drink. The battenberg was absolutely delicious! I would say it's one of the nicest cakes I have ever eaten, I'm not sure what made it taste so good, but I would definitely buy it again! The second time, we ordered a peach tart and a pecan tart, again, very nice cakes. The third time we visited was on our departure day back home, I ordered a crayfish and lemon mayonnaise sandwich for £5.00. This was a very tasty sandwich, I particularly enjoyed the lemon mayo, it was a nice change from normal mayo. My boyfriend had a brie, bacon and caramelised onion panini for £5.50. We also shared a chocolate cookie : ) and my boyfriend had a decaf cappuccino. If you are in the area, please give this little place a try! You won't be disappointed. The gentleman who served us each time was polite (I think he was one of the owners) and all of the food is so nice, especially the battenberg cake and the lemon mayo in my sandwich.

How wonderful that Graze on the Green has reopened after their winter break. We've been counting the days and decided in the middle of Half Term week to take some friends over for lunch. We rang and booked a table and arrived a few minutes early. Our table was being used by a family who were enjoying hot drinks so we were happy to wait on the comfy chairs near the gas stove. The reserved notice was still on the table so we knew the family occupying it wouldn't be very long. After around 15 minutes or so they did get up and leave. We enjoyed some banter with them as they had forgotten to take their dog and this caused much amusement.Referring to a previous poor review, the booking system at this establishment does appear difficult to manage but the staff are caught between a rock and a hard place. Have a cafe full of empty reserved tables or fit people in with a polite notice informing them of the time of the next booking and rely on them to vacate.A cafe that is always full, that receives rave reviews 99% of the time, that serves outstanding food, delicious cakes, has dedicated and hard working owners and staff surely deserves a little accommodation when things don't go entirely to plan. All of us enjoyed our lunch, Spiced Butternut Squash soup, delicious ham and chutney sandwiches with imaginative side salads and large bowl of freshly cooked chips, halloumi 'toastie' with beautifully presented side salad. This is a cafe to chill and catch up with friends and as Axl Rose writes - to use a little patience

Delicious range of dishes prepared on site for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, or take out. We enjoyed a marvellous cooked breakfast and tasty coffee. Friendly service that included a warm welcome and treats for the dog. Clearly a popular place despite - or perhaps because of - its remote location; the drive across the moors was beautiful, and "Graze On The Green" was the cherry on top. We left with some gorgeous sausage rolls, berry bakewell tart, and bottles of Yorkshire cider.

Having been to this tea room on three previously occasions and not been able to get a seat we decided to reserve a table as we had seen other parties do. We emailed Darren asking if we could book a table for 2 at 1pm on the 16th February, we, received a prompt reply confirming the reservation. We arrived at the tea rooms at 12.50pm to be told that another party was occupying our reserved table. Given that we were early we said we would take a walk round the village and come back. We arrived back in the tea room at about 1.10pm to be told that unfortunately the table had still not been vacated. The waitress simply shrugged her shoulders and asked what we wanted to do. Given that it was a very wet and blustery day so another walk round the village was not an option and the tea room is very small and cramped and there was no indication as to when the table would become vacant we decided to leave. There was another table reserved for 1pm for a larger party who even by the time we left had not as yet arrived but we were not offered this table. It seems that if you are a small party then management prefer to edge their bets as to whether you will arrive for the booking, but are willing to honor a reservation for a larger party. We traveled a 40 mile round trip and the journey out was as a birthday treat. Needless to say we will not return, I really do wish Darren had simply said its first come first served even on a reserved table at which point I would have cancelled the booking and gone somewhere else.

Had lunch today at Graze on the Green. It was quiet which I understand is unusual but it was a wet and windy Thursday in late November. It is cozy and small inside with welcoming staff. We can only say that the food is faultless. We chose chicken bacon and avocado on ciabatta and pastrami emmental and gherkin on toasted sourdough. Both came with a lovely salad, coleslaw and crisps. Wish I'd taken a photo, portions are huge and both were gorgous (pastrami was favourite). We had tea for two which came in a large teapot giving us about 4 cups each. I thoroughly recommend a visit, the only downside was that we didn't have room to try one of the delicious looking cakes.

This cafe in a lovely part of North Yorkshire offers the best of both worlds; it's suitably quaint and traditional in this pretty village, but isn't too old fashioned when it comes to food and drink. It's all too rare that you can get a decent coffee but they use Roost espresso and make it with care. The food is good value for decent portions, but it's much more than that too - quality homemade soup, tasty sandwiches, and a bit of thought has gone into the side salads. On top of all that, the service is fantastic - friendly and efficient - and there's a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.

A very hearty and high-quality lunch. Every element of our food was top notch and really delighted us. A long wait for it - other village tearoom was unexpectedly closed, so they were swamped, but worth it. Sat outside with dogs which was very pleasant, visited by very tame blackbirds and sparrows. Bought some local produce as souvenirs too. Highly recommended.

Stopped here by chance in May. Lovely, tasty lunch - large sandwiches, cracking cakes and good selection of drinks. Nice to have nice food in a local independent cafe in a stunning location - good value too.

Visited here today after a recommendation and soooo glad we did! Had a totally delicious lunch of Welsh rarebit, paninis and sandwiches all garnished with the tastiest of side salads & coleslaw...also ordered a bowl of handcut chips, yum!! Beautifully presented and “very” generous portions!! The cakes all looked amazing too but didn’t have room on this trip...must come back for afternoon tea!! Lovely home made breads to purchase too!!

We forgot this establishment does not open on a Tuesday. We remembered this as we pulled up outside and saw the 'closed' sign ! Still the trip from Whitby over the moors was lovely, so not all was lost. Returning later in the week I was presented with the most beautiful smoked salmon/asparagus salad that was to die for ! The quality and freshness of the ingredients along with the presentation would have given any 5 starred restaurant a run for its money! This chef knows his stuff ! FABULOUS !!!!

Lovely little tea room serving great food. Seating area inside and lovely seating area at the side of the building. We arrived one Sunday and it was quiet but 15 mins later it was very busy. They also do take away food too. I enjoyed chicken, bacon and avocado ciabatta and my parter had Yorkshire Rarebit with bacon. We ordered the bacon on both well done and we were not dissapointed. If your not in the area its well worth the trip. Delicious.

My husband and I visited here upon hearing great things about the cafe. I had the cheese and chutney sandwich on white bread which came with home made coleslaw and salad. We then took away a cheesecake brownie for afterwards. I cannot fault our visit as the food was of high standard, the staff were friendly and the environment was relaxed. A very popular place on a Sunday afternoon, would recommend reserving a seat just to be on the safe side as there was a constant queue of customers.

My brother Rodney and his wife Wendy recommended a visit to Graze on the Green in the village of Rosedale, near Rosedale Abbé and when the weather was unexpectedly nice, we went off on a Sunday afternoon to eat lunch there. Being Weight Watchers, we wanted a nice healthy meal and they have some wonderful homemade soups and sandwiches. The food was great and we had a lovely walk round the village before heading home again. Definitely one to try again sometime.

I Visited here on Wednesday afternoon after travelling a long way to a cafe that wasnt open so was so pleased when i looked inside here to find a busy but quaint cafe and very friendly service. I asked about Gluten free as i follow a strict GF diet and the lady asked the chef and i was told anything acn be adapted to be GF :) I had the mozzarella pesto and tomato panini to takeaway as we were running late on getting home. It came with a lovely side salad, crisps and coleslaw which were gorgeous. What a lovely cafe we sat outside while we waited outside for the order as it was quite busy and not suprising considering its so good! The waitress came outside to give us our food so nice of her would love to visit again wish i lived nearer!

Called here a couple of times over Easter weekend. Had a cake (banoffee loaf) and a Diet Coke in the garden on one occasion and an ice cream the next. The cake was delicious, a generous slice, and beautifully presented. The ice cream was fairly local (Helmsley- can’t remember brand - Ryeburn?) and was very nice, which we ate on a bench on the green opposite. Plenty of seating inside and out and appeared to be a good range of meals on offer including breakfasts.

We've eaten here a couple of times - the first time was all about the cake - this time it was for a light lunch. I opted for the red pepper soup, having eaten well the previous evening, and it was one of the best ever. Not only that but it came with swirls of I'm guessing balsalmic vinegar and cream, fresh herbs and croutons - and a huge chunk of homebaked (still-warm) crusty bread. It was probably half a loaf - so much for the light lunch. My wife had the smoked salmon and crayfish and my daughter the haloumi and chilli jam on sour dough and loved them.

This place is defined by the quality of the salad garnish I had with my sandwich: home-made coleslaw and a tiny salad of spinach, rocket and sliced radish with peppers roasted in olive oil and beetroot. Lovely puddings and cakes, but this is Yorkshire, so cheesy chips are also available.

I have never had as delicious soup and sandwich before! Fresh, abundant food which was delicious and beautifully presented. More than worth the two hour drive to get there. Did I mention cake? In spite of being full to the brim I found room for a cookie. Also bought more cake to take to tonight’s meeting!

Great menu choice. Just opted for poached eggs but they were perfectly cooked. Huge pot of tea was particularly welcome on a cold and wet November morning before setting out on a moor walk. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. We visited on a Saturday 15 minutes after 10am opening and were lucky to get a table as lots were reserved so you might wish to plan in advance.

Lovely dog friendly place in the heart of Rosedale Abbey way better than your average cafe or coffee shop. We enjoyed soup and sandwich combos - hearty ham and lentil and spiced moroccan soup with special sandwiches of the day. One of the stars of the show was the side salad which was the best I've had for ages and included roasted veg - yum yum. Took away shortbread and rocky road to enjoy later - again scrummy.

This cafe is perfection! We stopped for afternoon tea, the homemade jammy dodgers were fantastic- crisp shortbread and generous fresh fruity jam with butter cream. The Chelsea buns were equally delicious. Service was good, prices fair and it was nice to be able to buy local produce. We loved the view too. Thank you for a perfect finale to a lovely weekend

We stayed for bed and breakfast here. The house is in a beautiful peaceful setting overlooking meadows. Hosts very friendly. Comfortable bedroom. The TV reception is scrambled and there is no phone signal - so I would recommend enabling WiFi calling on your phone and bring a book 😃

Oh no!! No full English breakfast any more. I don't know the reason why you have stopped serving this but I think it's a big mistake. Shame really as we have always enjoyed our breakfasts here and now have to find somewhere else to go

We chose the Middleton arms after seeing pictures of the gammon steak on Facebook, unfortunately this was sold out on the evening we went along with a few other dishes on the menu. I ordered the potato skins starter which came as a large portion which I enjoyed followed by Whitby scampi, this was average with frozen scampi. My wife had garlic mushrooms for starter which was okay, for main she had steak pie which she said was very nice.

Having been to the Stapleton Arms at Wass on many occasions and even been shown the bedrooms, 4 of us booked B&B and evening meals. I booked online 2 rooms. The 'Superior' room £150 per night and the other £100. However, we were not aware the venue had changed hands but it almost immediately became apparent. The stairs leading to the bedrooms looked very tierd and unhoovered. The landing and our bedroom stank of burnt fat and the rooms were very basic and on opening the wardrobe I found empty drink bottles. The door to the shower had black rising up it and the shower just ran like a tap.. Our meal was fine and our friends ordered a bottle of champagne which cost £70 which we were happy to pay but when the bill for the meal arrived it was altogether £340. They had even charged extra for a blob of icecream on my pudding as they said icecream was an extra. Next morning we met at breakfast only to discover that our friend staying in the 'Superior' room, one of whom is very seriously ill and this was supposed to be a treat during a break from treatment, found the shower was not working and they couldn't find a shaving ;point. Just to add insult to injury one of our party ordered a poached egg and when it arrived the toast was burnt black on the underside and my bacon was floating in fat. Had it not been for the fact that one of our party was very ill and we didn't want to make a fuss we paid up the bill and left. Not once did the manager ask us if everything was o.k. He was totally uninterested. What a nightmare stay. Never again, The next morning I phoned to speak to the owner but she was not at work but would ring me on the Thursday of that week. She never rang. I rang back a week later and was told the owner had been given my complaint and she would ring me but another weerk later I have received no response. I suppose she is £600 better off and we will never grace their doors again.
