Took the kids to the museum a few doors down and they recommend this place for lunch as you get a discount with your tickets. Such a cute little cafe. Lovley warm welcome and the lady kindly gave the kids some little easter chocs while they waited for food ( and the very important orange juice my little one wouldn't stop asking for 🤣 ) food was lovely and the cakes after 😋 will definitely be back

We popped in here following a visit to the Ryedale Museum (which is well worth a visit). The weather was awful and we were wet and needed something warm and comforting and we were not disappointed. We were made very welcome by the staff there and with two Greyhounds we sat in the comfortable dog seating area. We had home made soup and a panini for a decent price. This was followed by a large syrup sponge which was devine. The sponge was light and fluffy, the ice-cream was beautiful and the portion was huge. All the food is home made which is apparent by the quality you receive. If you you visit the museum and show your ticket you get 20% off. This is a wonderful place for top notch food and a warm welcome. Well worth a visit.

We were staying at the caravan club cl site next door and decided to go for a coffee one afternoon, what a great cafe. The first time we went we had coffee and teacakes which were superb. Decided to go for lunch the next day, great idea!!!We both had soup and sandwiches, they were delicious. The best was yet to come though!!!!!My husband had lemon drizzle cake which he loved and came with lashings of fresh cream.I had a fruit scone with butter, jam and clotted cream. What can I say ??? Visited for lunch today and couldn't really fault anything up until I went to pay and asked if I could purchase some cake to take away. I was told that it would be a bit of a wait, I questioned this as it was literally a couple of slices of cake and I was told "yeah we've got other people to serve". So I paid for my lunch and left. I do feel that the customer service could have been better, they lost custom from me this afternoon and I probably wouldn't return.

It is clear that the staff really care about this tea room. They are very welcoming in an unobtrusive way and although they were busy, we had great and friendly service. The sign says that they always have gluten free cake and I had a choice, which is unheard of. They also have a full range of GF sandwiches and jacket potatoes. My partner really enjoyed his brie and bacon panini. It was well arranged, with full COVID measures in place and very clean and uncluttered. I felt very comfortable and safe.We would happily make a detour to go back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. P.S. Lovely little cafe which is unfortunately let down by the attitude of some staff who appear to think they are doing customers a favour by letting them in. Blueberry pancake stack was ready made pancakes with very little maple syrup, resulting in a rather dry dish. After 2 attempts the requested Earl Grey arrived to replace the standard tea and we were made to feel this was our fault somehow and we were a nuisance. Not I hasten to add by the younger waitresses who were helpful and pleasant. Undeterred we visited again the following day with much the same treatment. It was our last visit.

We called in here for lunch which was fairly busy, staff were very friendly with great service. There was a bit of a mix up with our food but was soon put right and an apology from the staff for there mistake. Food tasted great, my wife had a jacket potato, my son had the soup and I had a panini leaving 3 empty plate going back to the kitchen. Definitely worth a visit if your in the local area.

Having set out on a grey and dismal day, we had our fingers crossed for a nice tea shop in Hutton-le-Hole as our lunch stop. My friend said it should have soup, sandwiches, cheese scones, toasted tea cake and cake. When we reached The Forge it offered everything on our list, and I enjoyed a delicious bowl of soup with a freshly baked cheese scone, whilst my friend had soup and a panini, which they also said was delicious. Service was swift and friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate to call again next time I’m in the area.

We were so pleased to have chosen The Forge to revive ourselves following a long walk. The cafe was spotlessly clean and comfortable and dog friendly. The food was excellent and the service spot-on. Highly recommended.

We stayed for bed and breakfast here. The house is in a beautiful peaceful setting overlooking meadows. Hosts very friendly. Comfortable bedroom. The TV reception is scrambled and there is no phone signal - so I would recommend enabling WiFi calling on your phone and bring a book 😃

Oh no!! No full English breakfast any more. I don't know the reason why you have stopped serving this but I think it's a big mistake. Shame really as we have always enjoyed our breakfasts here and now have to find somewhere else to go

We chose the Middleton arms after seeing pictures of the gammon steak on Facebook, unfortunately this was sold out on the evening we went along with a few other dishes on the menu. I ordered the potato skins starter which came as a large portion which I enjoyed followed by Whitby scampi, this was average with frozen scampi. My wife had garlic mushrooms for starter which was okay, for main she had steak pie which she said was very nice.

Having been to the Stapleton Arms at Wass on many occasions and even been shown the bedrooms, 4 of us booked B&B and evening meals. I booked online 2 rooms. The 'Superior' room £150 per night and the other £100. However, we were not aware the venue had changed hands but it almost immediately became apparent. The stairs leading to the bedrooms looked very tierd and unhoovered. The landing and our bedroom stank of burnt fat and the rooms were very basic and on opening the wardrobe I found empty drink bottles. The door to the shower had black rising up it and the shower just ran like a tap.. Our meal was fine and our friends ordered a bottle of champagne which cost £70 which we were happy to pay but when the bill for the meal arrived it was altogether £340. They had even charged extra for a blob of icecream on my pudding as they said icecream was an extra. Next morning we met at breakfast only to discover that our friend staying in the 'Superior' room, one of whom is very seriously ill and this was supposed to be a treat during a break from treatment, found the shower was not working and they couldn't find a shaving ;point. Just to add insult to injury one of our party ordered a poached egg and when it arrived the toast was burnt black on the underside and my bacon was floating in fat. Had it not been for the fact that one of our party was very ill and we didn't want to make a fuss we paid up the bill and left. Not once did the manager ask us if everything was o.k. He was totally uninterested. What a nightmare stay. Never again, The next morning I phoned to speak to the owner but she was not at work but would ring me on the Thursday of that week. She never rang. I rang back a week later and was told the owner had been given my complaint and she would ring me but another weerk later I have received no response. I suppose she is £600 better off and we will never grace their doors again.
