Tried this lovely pub for the first time earlier this week with friends for an evening meal off the weekday menu. I had Scampi which was wholetail, light batter , served with the best chips I’ve had in ages . Others had chicken and burger, all were beautifully cooked and quality ingredients. Eaton Mess was spot on and the sticky toffee and custard had us drooling ! The atmosphere was what you’d want in a lovely cosy country inn, the owners were very friendly, service friendly and quick without feeling rushed. They also accommodated our 2 large dogs offering a nice treat and water. We loved it that much we’ve just returned from Sunday lunch !! Prawn cocktail starters were excellent, more prawn than salad 👍, soup, black pudding and bacon , all served with a warm crusty roll, all were very good. 3 of us had roast beef dinners and one roast pork - the veg was cooked perfectly, as were the mash and roast potatoes. Yorkshire pudding were just right. None of us could find space for a pudding but the menu has something for everyone. We shall most definitely return again.

How basic hygiene standards have dropped in this industry. We called into this restaurant on a visit to Richmond. The food was good as always. However, we were half way through our food when we noticed the guy who I presume was the chef/fryer working downstairs. You could hear him upstairs in the restaurant coughing his very chesty guts up constantly and very loudly. He was also throat hacking in-between the coughing fits. He clearly was not using a handkerchief or coughing into his arm. It was really disgusting to listen to. Another older couple in the restaurant made a comment to the woman who waited on us and she just shrugged and said 'oh everyone has a bad cough recently' She did say something to the guy down stairs but he either didnt care or he didnt understand his disgusting unhygienic problem because he carried on regardless. Why do ppl in the food industry think this vile behavior is acceptable. Use a hanky of stay at home if you are not well. Has he not heard the saying 'Coughs and sneezers carry diseases' . Basic hygiene is really lacking with this man!

We were staying in the village and went to the White Rose for an evening meal. The bar area was quite busy - it being a Friday night, but the bar staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful. When we ordered we were offered the choice of remaining in the bar area or sitting in the restaurant area to eat and we chose the latter. Our meals were all very good and reasonably priced and waiting staff were pleasant and efficient. The beer was well kept too!

We popped in on a Monday night as all the pubs in the immediate area that we usually go to don’t open on a Monday We arrive at 5:30 opening time and were hardly greeted by Shannon We hadn’t booked, but she found us a table There was a lovely selection of beers and wines and an amazing menu with specials of the day On Mondays they do a night where you can get a sirloin steak for £12 with all the trimmings They also specialise in seafood and there were a number of dishes this included prawns lobsters, monkfish et cetera Who made soup of the day was courgette and sweet potato and this is delicious Between us, we had a steak and kidney pie and there’s also an option of a steak and kidney pudding and two of us had prawn and lobster Thermidor, which was delightful There is a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff are lovely and the toilets are clean. Thank you, Shannon to you and your colleagues and we very much look forward to our next physics

The range and standard of food is excellent. The menu offers some of the old classics but there are also many chef's dishes and recommendations that I haven't encountered before. I've now tried several and invariably, the quality of the food is excellent, with unusual flavour combinations that work very well. The portion sizes are spot on, sometimes, I'm full after the starter, but here you get a decent portion of good food. There tends to be only one person front of house so, at peak times, the service for drinks etc can be a little slow, but the food comes quickly and piping hot from the kitchen. Also, be aware that Prachin only takes cash. A great local gem.

This place used to be good a few years ago, I went recently and never again. Over priced and nothing special. My bacon sandwich was tiny and with old bread, then they ran out of bread and it was only 10am. I asked for a tap water - they said their water is not drinkable and suggested I walk 15mins to a drinking fountain. Really, in a food establishment?
