A great Sunday lunch. In our group of 4 we had the chicken and the beef. £14.95 each (as at Feb 2025). The beef was a little tough, but still delicious. Super tasty veg and the gravy was outstanding. Very slow service during a busy lunchtime period one member of staff in the front of the house serving the bar, restaurant and kitchen. It took a long time to receive the drinks and the food over half an hour from time of order. Food was good and plentiful. The management really need to consider employing more staff. the lady who served us was most apologetic. An octopus was needed to fulfil all the jobs she was expected to do at once. She did it professionally in a quiet unassuming efficient way, she was delightful in her manner thumbs up to her

We booked a table for dinner at this venue before we arrived on Monday 23rd December for our 2x couples christmas cottage in Richmond break. The pub was extremely busy and the poor guy behind the bar, Jack,was snowed under. Despite this we were asked to choose our table and he would come to serve us drinks and food. When he managed to escape the crowds he arrived at our table and explained a couple of the menu options weren't available, but we managed to find something tasty. Jack went far and beyond with his politeness and caring service. He is obviously a huge asset to the business and it was a pleasure to find someone so dedicated to making customers happy. We'll be back!

Popped in for a quick drink whilst christmas shopping. The staff are friendly and the rooms are cosy and atmospheric. We enjoyed our short, but pleasant stay. Recommended.

Hope, jack, tom, were amazing staff, so friendly, they were great company. Brilliant with checking IDs and very safe. Tom is a lot funnier than Jack but hope is the funniest.

Overpriced for the quality of the food, pale chips with skins on not shown on their promotional photos, which showed golden cooked chips. They were dry and powdery in texture, the gravy couldn't improve them and overloaded with peas, when one or two more vegetables would have made it more appealing. What ever the overheads fifteen pounds a plate was five pounds over priced.

I would like to thank the lovley staff for helping us out when we were let down by another hotel. They managed to get us in. I would say the staff are amazing but the room was a little grubby. The toilet has pee still on the toilet rim and seat, there was a dirty cloth in the bath and no shower. Again thanks to the staff for everything you did for us, you were amazing. We will definitely be back for drinks.

Great traditional pub. Me & my partner went there on a Sunday in late September, we ordered a pint & the Sunday roast. The lad behind the bar was friendly, welcoming, very attentive & the other 2 girls serving food were both superb. I ordered roasted pork, my partner had roasted chicken, they came with side veg: sautéed cabbage & buttered swede. Everything was delicious & portions were generous. 10 out of 10, highly recommended! Thank u for giving us such great memory of Richmond. 👏👏👏

Roast Beef dinner with veg that was delicious. Staff were extremely friendly and the premises was clean. You are allowed to take dogs in. Didnt have a deseart as we were full.

Called in for Sunday the pub was very quiet but very clean and good beers on the bar. We had the roast beef and veg and were not disappointed very well cooked and hot.

This dog friendly pub is situated in the market square and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. They could not have been more helpful. We had three labradors with us and the staff came over with biscuits for them. It offers home cooked food and we had a burger and grilled Haloumi with salad and humous. The real chips were fantastic! We highly recommend The Bishop Blaize.

Went for lunch on our 1st trip to Richmond. We had scampi &chips and steak ale pie. The pie was the best I ever had (and I had a lot!!) the staff are super friendly and the beer garden at the back has an amazing view in the castle. Highly recommended . Most of their food is home made which you can really taste

Popped in here for some lunch, we decided on mash and Cumberland sausage and steak pie and chips. The service was quick and efficient. The sausages was very tasty to the point we asked if they were from the local area. The barman looked into it with the chef and returned telling us they was from Hamiltons in the area, so in leaving we went to the butchers and bought some to bring home. Beautiful Cumberland sausages. The steak pie was very tasty too. Our only issue was the garden peas were dry and hard even after been covered in gray, So unable to eat them. But great service and good food.

Super food, highly recommend the souvlaki and the chorizo & Wensleydale baguette! Great service but slow due to staff shortages (which we were warned about when ordering, TBF). Sat in the beer garden with views onto the castle. Definitely recommend for a lunch! Dog friendly too! What's not to like!

Wow so glad we decided to come in here for lunch. Dog friendly and the food was absolutely amazing. We got the blackpudding and chorizo croquettes, chorizo, wensleydale and red pepper relish baguette and homemade chips. The food was piping hot, fresh and just beautiful. Will definitely visit here again if I find myself in richmond!

Stopped here recently at lunchtime with the family for food. Best lasagne I've ever had. Homemade and cooked to perfection. Lady serving us was really helpful, great with the kids and very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Called in for a pint before heading back to our accommodation. The room we chose to go in was quiet. The other room was playing music and was more suitable for younger clientele. We were served by a nice young barman who was knowledgeable about the origins of the pub he also explained the unusual name. The beer was good and if it hadn't been too late, I would have happily stayed for another pint.

Called in for lunch having just arrived in Richmond - welcomed by Tom who has just taken over the pub. We were served two delicious meals (try the steak and ale pie!) and had a delicious pint of Landlord, famously difficult to keep so the new owners obviously know what they're doing. Highly recommended!

My husband and I wanted different things for Sunday lunch hence we chose this pub. I ordered a lamb dinner whilst he ordered a hot beef sandwich. Whilst we were waiting, another customer complained about gristle in the lamb so I asked if I could change to beef and was told no as the chef had already prepared my meal. I asked her to make sure the lamb had no gristle. What was I served? A plate of gristle! The roasties were nice, the mash was ok and the Yorkshire pudding passable. The broccoli was mush, the carrots overcooked and the red cabbage bland. There was a solitary parsnip on the plate, although it looked cooked it was raw. My husband’s chips, not roasties as stated on the menu, were nice. The beef was inedible. We were told the chef served it medium. A good vet would have been able to revive it! Chef obviously doesn’t realise topside cannot be treated in the same way as sirloin! We left our food. We joined the queue to pay where several other people were complaining about the food, one said he would speak to Will, presumably the owner. I asked for a reduction on the bill - I was told no, they couldn’t authorise it. I said I would leave my contact details as I did not want to pay for the meal we hadn’t had. There were no managers available. I was accused of trying to steal!! I paid the bill and we left still hungry. The main staff in this establishment have no customer service skills whatsoever, are confrontational and unable to accept criticism. The chef needs replacing immediately and perhaps a visit from Environmental Health is on order - if chef can get a simple meal so wrong, what else is wrong behind the scenes?

Came here a few weeks back with our dog and baby, it has loveliest bar and snug area with a fire! We got a sunday roast and could not fault it at all, alongside the service! Every member of staff were friendly but our server in particular made us feel so welcome and was the nicest girl, also brought out treats for our dog and made a fuss of him! So nice, we aren’t from the area but we will definitely be back when we visit again even just for the atmosphere and service alone! Thankyou x

Popped in for a quick drink after work and couldn’t resist trying the food after seeing the menu. I ordered the Brie and cranberry starter, my husband ordered the Arancini. For Main I had King prawn linguine and my husband ordered the chicken supreme. Wow! Portion sizes very generous, great presentation and more importantly the food arrived hot and really delicious. We dined in the snug next to the log fire and really enjoyed the evening. Will definitely be back, what a hidden gem this place is, well done to the Chef and staff who made us welcome and filled us up on great home cooking!

Tried this pub for the first time for a Sunday lunch having only been in for a drink before, and it hit the mark, very reasonably priced and couldn't fault anything, only ordered small ones and it was more than enough for us.

Very good service and the food was very good. See you next year.

We ate our lunch here yesterday and was very impressed with what we ordered I had steak and ale pie served with carrots cauliflower broccoli and homemade chips good size portion my wife ordered lasagna with bistro salad and garlic bread again good sized portion we ate in the bar has we had our dog with us and the pub is dog friendly which is good the lady that served us was very friendly plus a nice atmosphere

This gem of a pub offers the Very best locally sourced home cook Sunday lunch and is without a doubt the best in Richmond town. I have eaten here on numerous occasions and believe me it never disappoints. Meat and vegetables are cooked to perfection with delicious home cooked Yorkshire’s. Large quality portions but with a choice of a small lunch for those with a smaller appetite.. The best Sunday roast by far and extremely well priced.

I went here last week for a group dinner (16 of us, I believe). We got excellent service from the staff and the food was very tasty. My partner has a gluten intolerance and the GF menu did seem a bit limited but she still found food which she enjoyed. We would definitely consider going here again.

Just had Christmas meal for 2nd year. Amazing meal everything was perfect. Fresh cooked perfect temperature. Excellent quality. Vert friendly staff lovely atmosphere in warm cosy pub .dog friendly. Will be back next year .

We had booked the day before, to eat at 5pm. It had been read wrong in the diary n we had been expected af 3pm!. Anyway, even though the chef had closed everything down, our booking was honoured. Was so impressed by this. The lady who dealt with us was amazing!! Very friendly and attentive, even came and said bye to us at the end of her shift. The food was also amazing, homecooked and fresh, definitely plentiful. And very reasonably priced. The bar was trimmed up for Halloween and the bar staff were dressed up accordingly, ready for the live entertainment. Was nice to end our time there with a pleasant chat with Lucy before we left. Would highly recommend this place and definitely will be returning ☺️.

The Bishop Blaize is an old public house with rooms at the top of Richmond Square It is well run by Tracy and Mark It gets its trade from locals and visitors alike and can be very busy especially at weekends The beers etc are very well kept and the food is exceptional, fresh produce cooked to order Tracy and Mark are extremely helpful and friendly and this is also shown by their staff. We have stayed a few times and the rooms are clean and comfortable if a little old but this part of the ambience of the place Keep it going Tracy and Mark

Nothing is to much trouble for the friendly staff. Food is great and very reasonably priced. Very clean. Only lunch food though, no evening food.

Called in impromptu and so glad we did. Tracy was a lovely host and the food was delicious homemade chips and lovely carrot and Corriander soup. Will definitely call again.

Have just had a most delicious Sunday lunch but as nice as it was it doesn't compare to the welcome myself and my husband received especially has we took our rottweiler dog with us and there were so accommodating for us we ordered a chicken dinner for her and there didn't question it and even provided a dog bowl for her lunch to go in she totally enjoyed her treat so a huge thank you

Such a warm welcome when we walked in from the rain looking for lunch. Good service- very friendly, accommodating and helpful to my little one when he asked for pizza. The waitress offered us the 2 for £12 special when we both asked for fish and chips, which we hadn’t noticed, and explained the portion size was a bit less that a main meal size. It was still plenty and nice, fresh crispy battered fish too. Very reasonable prices! Thank you!

Great food and service. We arrived as a party of 11, the landlady said there was only one chef so we thought we'd have a long wait. But alas no, it was super speedy service. Worth a visit!

The waitress was very friendly and offered the dogs a biscuit. They have a limited menu on a Sunday but that was fine as we wanted a roast dinner. My mum’s chicken came with bacon wrapped round it but it was quickly swapped for one without. A lot of the tables were reserved so go early if you don’t book a table.

Brilliant food since the new owners came. Definitely recommend for cheap and cheerful home-style cooking :)

Called in on a rainy day on the off chance of some food and had an unexpectedly good omelet! Served by a friendly young girl behind the bar and a reasonable final bill. What's more not to like!
