Really nice pub. The food was exceptional here, we came two nights on the trot. Recommend the fish pie.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at The White Hart last Saturday, on line booking simple, food and wine great, service very friendly and welcoming. On Sunday morning realised I could not find my wallet. A quick call to the venue, yes found and put ready for me, unfortunately I was cycling and already 30 miles away. Not a problem, posted and received back safely a couple of days later. A great experience from start to finish. Thank you!

Saturday night meal, called in Friday teatime for a beer and booked,only time they could give us was 6 o clock Saturday,table for four for one and a half hours ( good sign must be good ),food was a little pricey for pub grub I initially thought, but wow was it good, restaurant quality, excellent friendly efficient staff,had the beef,buttered veg and a dessert, excellent ! Would definitely recommend! Only annoying thing was the people stood in the doorway ( barflies) blocking the entrance to rooms either side,a very enjoyable Saturday night tho !

Me and my wife had an excellent meal and drinks last Friday evening, the food was top notch as always and the staff are great . It even came in at a cheaper price than expected, well done White Hart Inn.

Called in on a Tuesday night which just happened to be Steak Night . We had 2 Rump Steaks and a bottle of wine £45 . Great atmosphere friendly staff . Highly recommend The White Hart Inn.

The Sunday lunch was completely tasteless and the service was adequate. It seemed that every item had been bought in frozen/precooked.

Great night, a large group of us visited for a meal on a busy Saturday night, we'd pre booked and pre ordered. Abby our young hostess was waiting to greet us and looked after us all brilliantly. Everything was really good, the food, the drinks and the service. Definitely recommend and we will all be back soon.

Fantastic stay at the White Hart - spacious room with a comfy bed. Food was fabulous - both breakfasts and dinner with great attention to detail. For me a sign of a good chef is how the vegetables are cooked and these were outstanding - cooked to perfection and seasoned with fennel seeds and salt. However, the best part of our stay was the staff - all were friendly, helpful and made our stay very special. Already planning when we can come back . Thank you

Thank you White Hart! In the area on holiday we held a birthday celebration meal here and no-one could fault it. They made every effort to make the evening special particularly with the surprise birthday cake (having been made and delivered to them by J W Cocketts). Thank you White Hart.

A brilliant pub in the centre of a busy village. We had a smashing meal, with some different choices from normal pub grub, especially for vegetarians. Good beer and wine too and an excellent cheeseboard. Will return!

Gave me the wrong pizza then said they couldn't change it because they're all pre-made.

Sunday roast was a surprise..very tasty and big portions..one of the best I had. And village is beautiful..a little jewel in middle of the yorkshire dales

Superb inn in the centre of the town of Hawes. Friendly service and some great food - possibly the best steak I've ever eaten! Add a good selection of beers, fast service and great indoor and outside space and you have a winner. Dog friendly too! Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Booked dinner after looking at reviews beforehand and was really impressed with the service and the top-quality food as well as the menu choices - superb experience, especially after a long day of cycling.

What a special place the White Hart Inn is! We greatly loved our two nights in Hawes and the White Hart Inn really was a wonderful choice. The staff were just so friendly and helpful! Big thank you to James for all that he helped with : ) Our room was a twin room as that was all that was available at booking time. The room was very spacious, clean and comfy. The beds were great and the bathroom was large and well appointed. Our breakfasts were just out of this world yum and we also had dinner on our first night. That was probably one of the best meals we had on the trip. Thank you Andrew for your tips and suggestions for our day out. You have a lovely place and we look forward to returning again one day soon!

We were here for 2 dinners, as although walking the Pennine Way, we chose Hawes for a rest day as so much to do here. We are vegan to try to help climate change and for our health. We reserved a table for the 2 nights and it was all ready for us. Service excellent Food excellent too. Slightly worried about amount of protein in the vegan Wild Mushroom Bourguignon Pie as we were needing protein and it did not taste as good as my husband's choice, that I had the second night as had more protein Spiced Roasted Potatoes, Cauliflower & Chickpeas, white bean hummus, followed by vegan Boozy Black Forest Mess, vegan meringue, mixed berry compote, non-dairy cream, Kir-soaked cherries. Highly recommend.

More of a restaurant than a pub, but great food!!

We went for dinner, very friendly staff, quick service, we felt it was quite expensive but there isn't really any choice in the village at the moment (the other pub isn't serving food). Having said that, all of the food was excellent and the overall atmosphere great.

The service and food were merely mediocre, and the meal was therefore very overpriced. Definitely not the “gastropub” they describe themselves to be. We had the lamb roast dinner. Very disappointed. Tasted microwaved. Reminded me of school or hospital dinners. Gravy tasted a bit like Bisto gravy. Mint sauce was good quality - freshly homemade, but the rest was very poor.

From an excellent menu we chose superb roast beef, promptly served by friendly staff. A refreshing change NOT to have an overloaded plate of roast lunch. The food looked attractive on the plate, tasted good and was excellent value. The chef is doing a great job here. Dessert was, again, beautifully served. Next time we are in Hawes, will be heading for The White Hart Inn!

What can I say, Staff are fantastic and helpful, even though it was busy they spent time to help us get sorted and in the room. They allowed me to put my motorbike into the beer garden in the evening to keep it secure. The room was amazing and clean with large tv. Now to the food, well, it was bloody perfect 👌... good choice on the menu and well priced. Plenty of beer choices and many other drinks. For anyone reading this, I highly recommend them if you are in Hawes for a day and want food or want to stay, it's just a spot on place. Oh, and the breakfast is top notch. Excellent food, service and beer. Had the vegetarian mushroom pie and chocolate torte. Pint or two of Askrigg Beer.

Had supper here. It was a revelation. Not expensive considering the quality. Real ales. I wish I could eat there again, but sadly our tour of the Dales is over!

Enjoyed a very good meal served by friendly attentive staff. The best of Yorkshire hospitality and food in a very lovely place. Didn't stay the night so could not comment on the rooms.

Lovely pub B&B in the middle of Hawes. Rooms are modern and spacious. Food is wonderful. No parking but plenty of free parking within a short walk. Wonderful location in Wensleydale with the creamery just up the road.

I spent 1 night here as I was walking through on the Pennine Way (May 13th, 2024). I received a very friendly welcome from the staff. Even though I had arrived 5 hrs earlier than expected, they were very accommodating & as I was the only guest that day (due to a cancellation of guests they got my room ready early so I could shower and enjoy Hawes. My room was very clean, plenty of space, a nice modern bathroom & a large comfy bed with different pillows (soft & firmer). I had my evening meal there too, the side dish of heritage tomatoes simply drizzled with balsamic was so tasty. Haven't had sweet juicy tomatoes like that for ages. The homemade steak & pancetta pie was great as was the pudding, a zesty lime pie with pineapple & passion fruit sorbet. Great selection of local real ales too, I had 3 different ones and they were all superb. I would definitely recommend staying here. Because Hawes is a very busy market town there is always going to be a little traffic noise especially on the cobbles streets, and as this is a pub you can hear the murmur of voices till closing time, but these things are factors that affect most accommodation in Hawes.

Great food, great service, good beers, and a good time. Menu excellent, although the steak pie was not typical, and I had good envy because the lamb rump my partner had was a thing of beauty. Desserts were good, although the vegan caramel tahini tart was super sticky, so maybe don’t offer that to anyone who is a messy eater… Top tip - at busy times your table time is limited to 90 minutes as they’ll rebook it for someone else. At least that means there’s never a wait for your food!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Great pub. Literally the only thing I don't like is the non-restaurant end used to be cosy and traditional. It's now had a very chain pub style makeover and some really poor furniture choices with a load of bar stools and tall tables facing the wall. If I want to stare at a wall I'll stay at home.

Service was good and we had a warm welcome. Four in our party and we all had the steak pie. This was unfortunately a little disappointing. Beautiful pastry and gravy let down by rather tough meat. The pub is dog friendly.

PIES to DIE for ........ Starving, I called in at the White Hart yesterday for Lunch I ordered Steak and Stilton Pie, it arrived with a handsome lashing of deep tasty gravy, well I love my pies out, but this was the best ever, gorgeous pastry and a handsome portion of beef hiding below. Followed by a stunning "Black Forest Brownie and Ice Cream" ..... I wasn't the only satisfied customer Staff were friendly and chatty , beer was tremendous

Had a great week, last week dining at the great restaurant of this hotel. We were staying in Hawes, in a house, for a week, and booked the restaurant for 4 evening meals, before we left home. In the end, we added a fifth evening, as we just couldn't resist it. All of the staff were great, especially the more experienced ones. The younger staff were learning well. Just can't recommend this place enough.

Steak pie is delicious!! Lean steak, lovely chunky chips & red wine gravy-we all ate the same & loved it. Service great & very welcoming.

Staff were attentive and polite. Food was amazing. Pretty full. Menu price structure interesting. Expensive mains, medium deserts, quite cheap drinks.

Good tasty food, well presented by attentive and polite staff. This was a very busy restaurant probably due to the quality of food and choice on offer, so I guess booking is recommended. I can thoroughly recommend the lamb and steak pie dish’s and the mushroom soup, which were very tasty. All a tad expensive but you only get what you pay for.

Overpriced - whilst the food was nice it was very expensive for what was served. £55 for two main courses is expensive and just wasn't as nice as we had expected. Tha bok choi was over cooked and soggy and too much sauce on the noodles with soggy peppers. The lamb dish was better but not five star. Atmosphere and pub was lovely and service great.

Had a great evening meal here. Cooked by people who totally know what they’re doing. Staff were friendly and efficient. There’s a restaurant and a smaller bar area. Ate in the bar area which had same menu and same atmosphere. Loved it.

We had food at the White Hart Inn on a couple of nights while staying in Hawes and it was delicious, good service and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We didn't stay, just had drinks. Place was packed and people waiting for tables. Definitely book in advance if youre dining. Very popular spot, for good reason. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed a delightful meal here after a long day of walking, grateful for the cosy pub atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. We were greeted and served throughout our meal with warmth and humour and the food here was truly exceptional. I enjoyed the lamb, which was beautifully cooked to melt-in-the-mouth perfection, with the most gorgeous jus to accompany it (trust me - I could have drunk this on its own and been very happy haha). Every element on every plate at the table was thoroughly enjoyed, with plates practically licked clean by the end! My dairy-free sister was grateful for the selection of plant-based options, especially the desserts (the lemon posset was incredible!!) Would wholeheartedly recommend the White Hart to anyone staying in the area for a fabulous meal and some lovely walks to pair with a visit here too! Thank you.

We visited two years ago and were keen to go back as we'd enjoyed fantastic food and service. Every time we've visited Hawes since, we've been unable to get a table, so we were really looking forward to our visit this time, as we'd booked well in advance. However, we were really disappointed. The food was average and not very hot as it was served on cold plates. The serving staff gave the impression they weren't terribly interested in the customers. We had to go to the bar and request additional condiments, then again when we wanted a dessert menu. The dessert choice was a bit too pretentious for our liking. We don't mind something a bit different, but it should be balanced with a few staple desserts. Even a French restaurant we frequent in York acknowledges sticky toffee pudding is a good seller! Maybe we just dined on an off night. We do enjoy regular visits to Hawes, but this experience means we're unlikely to eat here again.

What a fabulous Sunday lunch! Wow the chef knows his stuff, veg cooked to perfection, wonderful roast potatoes, trimmings galore and beautifully cooked roasts. So impressed. Fabulous waitress and a wonderful warm welcome at the bar! Couldn’t fault any of it, just wonderful!!

Went here for Sunday dinner. The food was amazing. Both the prawn and duck starter were lush (yum yum yum) and so were the roasts. Beef for me and the triple for my husband. The food was extremely good and the service was exceptional. Great team and will definitely be going back. Thank you

We had Sunday lunch here for the first time. 3 of us chose the small roast and 1 had the vegetarian pie option. Roast was perfect for smaller appetites but you only get one piece of meat and one roast potato, so go for the standard size if you are particularly hungry! Only criticisms was the small amount of veg on the vegetarian option and could have done with extra gravy for the roasts. We didn't have dessert but they looked great from what we saw. Service was excellent too

We stayed here a night when walking Lady Anne's Way. Renovation has just been completed and the 2 rooms we had were beautiful, roomy and the beds were THE MOST COMFORTABLE EVER! Evening dining was stylish in the newly redecorated bar and restaurant, and the atmosphere was friendly. A roaring log fire completed the experience. Breakfast was traditional and good. All the staff are attentive and worked hard. We loved the place and will be back.

Had the best time ever at the White Hart Inn last night with my family, after a long journey for our weekend away trip it was exactly what we needed and truly hit the spot. For drinks we ordered a blackberry gin & tonic, pint of aspall cider and a pint of lime and soda. For mains we got two burgers, one with Wensleydale cheese and the mushroom and ale pie. All the mains were scrummy and we are gladly going back tonight for dinner as well to try other options on their menu! For dessert, we had two trio of autumn fruits, which consisted of a blackberry and pear crumble with custard (of course), a cinnamon and pear crème brûlée, and a scoop of ice cream - we loved the variety that this dessert offered and was delish. We also got one sticky toffee pudding which was luxurious!!! If you are in the area for a trip, just driving through, or anywhere near, you have to come here!!!! The staff were so lovely and kind and the location is right in the heart of Hawes, so lots of free parking around right near the inn.

Called into this cosy hostelry with a friend last Saturday. Had an excellent lunch, the portions were large and tasty.

Saw the menu and thought we had to try this place. Both our pies were top notch, served in 20 mins, hot and good portion size. Very friendly service too.

Just back from a two night break. Experienced all four seasons with the weather, but the welcome followed by the food & hospitality more than made up for it. Comfortable room & bed (plus a few drinks) ensured a good nights sleep. Highly recommended.

We just had the most pleasant experience at this gem of a place. The food and the service were 100%. The fish pie was fresh and tasty. The lamb Henry was fall off the bone and melt inthe mouth. The dessert (sticky toffee pudding) was served with both a full sized dessert spoon, for those that eat in a hurry, and a small spoon for those that like savour every delicate flavour over a more relaxed end to a cullinary experience that should not be hurried. We will be back.

We arrived early for a 7pm table on a doggy Xmas Eve with two dogs Met with a lovely welcome and given the option of two tables . Service was great all evening and couldn’t have been more friendly . Food was soooo good , home cooked, hot and tasty . Would definitely return here

Nice pub and lovely Sunday lunch with a very special rhubarb dessert. Also went for dinner which was good too. Liver and bacon would be better with creamy mash and gravy which liver is particularly good at, so that was a little disappointing. Overall pretty...

Well stocked bar and very good food. Welcoming, but service a bit idiosyncratic. Having shown us our table, didn't come and ask for drinks order until asked to come over. Food was wonderful, but not offered a dessert menu and had to ask for coffee.

Genuinely nice atmosphere, service was very professional, the sort you would get in a restaurant not a pub. Very attentive and very courteous. Food was amazing on two occasions, never disappointed and positions were huge. I would recommend trying out their food if you are visiting Hawes for a meal. A little on the expensive side, but you do get good food. Dog friendly pub as well.
