Great place to stop for a bite to eat and a pint A+++++

We were rather disappointed with our meals - mine was a veggie dish, wasn’t hot and was rather uninspiring for the cost. When I mentioned the heat it was zapped in the microwave. . My partners was an okay burger. We have been here several times but were less impressed this time

Stayed 1 night, room was lovely and fairly quiet for above a pub also! Food was absolutely amazing, cosy little pub.

Came for my Birthday meal, returning after visiting in 2023. Great service and really enjoyed our meal with a bottle of wine. We had the lamb crumpets starter, sirloin of beef, sweet & sour belly pork and desert of sunken chocolate cake, recommend these dishes all ever nice.

Had a few great beers and saw some lovely food being serve do went back for a meal on Saturday. It was the perfect end day to a great day walking. We all had the pies and loved them. The service was excellent as well.

Fantastic 3 meat Sunday roast, locally sourced produce cooked to perfection- along with excellent friendly service would highly recommend.

Great place for either drinks or food. Need to book for food as a popular spot & they have a dining area for those with dogs. We had the Iberian ham croquette & the crab ravioli starters - fabulous. Followed by the ravioli beef main & the mushroom Bourguignon pie. Great food, great service , great place . Sarah our server was fab to say she had only been there a few days, very informative on the area as a local sheep farmer, kindly informing us of a road closure in ten day we are due to leave the CAMC site. Will return as management & staff, are great ambiance. Keep going guys, see you soon. Justine & Richard.

We have had food here in the past and its always been lovely so booked again without any doubt however something has changed and the food is now even better, we received excellent service from the moment we walked through the doors, drinks were brought to our table soon after we had ordered and the food was not far behind, my wife had a pie dish and i had a burger however these were far from the usual, my wife's chicken pie have a chicken fillet inside not the normal 2 or 3 small pieces and the rest just pastry this was full of chicken and my burger had top quality beef, but then came my desert which was Ginger sticky toffee pudding with custard and it was insanely delicious i mean if i could 11 out of 10 i would.

Me, my husband and our dog walked in Saturday 15th Feb. We asked if there was a table for a drink to be told 'no we're busy' by the young man behind the bar with short dark hair. We suggested we could stand near the bar until a table did become availale, to be told no, despite there already being a man stood at the bar with his pint! Our plan was to have a drink and look at the food menu for another night but obviously not given the rude and unwelcome attitude of the staff that made us feel pretty rubbish to say the least. So fair to say we most definitely won't be coming back now either given you clearly do no need the custom! Awful experience in the few moments we stepped foot in the door. I think your staff need some customer service training to say the least.

Stumbled upon this lovely pub when visiting the local creamery. Really glad we found it as we had a fantastic lunch here. Great service, friendly staff, cosy pub, and food was brilliant.

Just had the best weekend in hawes. And this hotel/bar/restaurant was a major factor. The rooms are fabulous the food is amazing and the owners and staff are brilliant, they really catered for our big group. And made then80th celebrations even more special. Thank you everyone.

Excellent lunch which suited people with different dietary requirements

We have eaten at The White Hart on many occasions when we have been staying in Hawes, this was the first time we have stayed at The White Hart, we wanted to experience Hawes at Christmas, we had the most delightful time, on entering it was lovely to feel the warmth of the wood burner in the bar area, our room was cosy and warm, the breakfast had a good choice,we had dinner both evening’s both were excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. Thank you for a perfect few days.

We gathered in Hawes for a family lunch at thhe White Hart. It was the first time any of us had been to this particular pub but the general feeling was that we all had a good meal at a reasonable price. Serving staff were friendly and efficient and our food came in good time. All in all a good experience.

Brilliant food and great service, though the rabbit terrine gave my brother food poisoning…

Headed here on our first night in Hawes and it didn't disappoint. The fillet of beef was immense and my wife's steak pie and gravy was also superb. Would lovely to go back and lots of nice items on the menu

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at The White Hart last Saturday, on line booking simple, food and wine great, service very friendly and welcoming. On Sunday morning realised I could not find my wallet. A quick call to the venue, yes found and put ready for me, unfortunately I was cycling and already 30 miles away. Not a problem, posted and received back safely a couple of days later. A great experience from start to finish. Thank you!

La comida del sábado por la noche, llamada en la hora del té del viernes para una cerveza y reservada, la única vez que podían darnos era a las 6 en punto sábado, mesa para cuatro durante una hora y media (buena señal debe ser buena ) , la comida era un poco caro para la comida del pub pensé inicialmente, pero wow era bueno, calidad del restaurante, excelente amable personal eficiente, tenía la carne de res, verduras enmantequilladas y un postre, excelente ! Sin duda recomendaría! La única cosa molesta era que la gente estaba de pie en la entrada (barflies) bloqueando la entrada a las habitaciones a ambos lados, un sábado por la noche muy agradable para !

Vinimos por la noche de carne y realmente disfrutamos! Una bienvenida muy cálida y amable fue muy apreciado. Pedimos dos filetes y quedamos tan impresionados con todo. La presentación fue excelente. Las brochetas de verduras, patatas fritas y ensalada Caesar que acompañaron nuestra comida estaban deliciosos. Los filetes estaban perfectamente cocinados. Qué gran relación calidad-precio también. £ 70 incluyendo una botella de vino! ¡No puedes equivocarte! ¡Muy recomendable!

We came for the steak night and really enjoyed it!! A very warm and friendly welcome was much appreciated. We ordered two fillet steaks and were so impressed with it all. The presentation was excellent. The vegetable skewers, chips and Caesar salad which accompanied our meal were delicious. The steaks were perfectly cooked. What great value it was too. £70 including a bottle of wine! You can't go wrong! Highly recommended!!

Me and my wife had an excellent meal and drinks last Friday evening, the food was top notch as always and the staff are great . It even came in at a cheaper price than expected, well done White Hart Inn.

Called in on a Tuesday night which just happened to be Steak Night . We had 2 Rump Steaks and a bottle of wine £45 . Great atmosphere friendly staff . Highly recommend The White Hart Inn.

The Sunday lunch was completely tasteless and the service was adequate. It seemed that every item had been bought in frozen/precooked.

Great night, a large group of us visited for a meal on a busy Saturday night, we'd pre booked and pre ordered. Abby our young hostess was waiting to greet us and looked after us all brilliantly. Everything was really good, the food, the drinks and the service. Definitely recommend and we will all be back soon.

Fantastic stay at the White Hart - spacious room with a comfy bed. Food was fabulous - both breakfasts and dinner with great attention to detail. For me a sign of a good chef is how the vegetables are cooked and these were outstanding - cooked to perfection and seasoned with fennel seeds and salt. However, the best part of our stay was the staff - all were friendly, helpful and made our stay very special. Already planning when we can come back . Thank you

Thank you White Hart! In the area on holiday we held a birthday celebration meal here and no-one could fault it. They made every effort to make the evening special particularly with the surprise birthday cake (having been made and delivered to them by J W Cocketts). Thank you White Hart.

A brilliant pub in the centre of a busy village. We had a smashing meal, with some different choices from normal pub grub, especially for vegetarians. Good beer and wine too and an excellent cheeseboard. Will return!

Gave me the wrong pizza then said they couldn't change it because they're all pre-made.

Sunday roast was a surprise..very tasty and big portions..one of the best I had. And village is beautiful..a little jewel in middle of the yorkshire dales

Superb inn in the centre of the town of Hawes. Friendly service and some great food - possibly the best steak I've ever eaten! Add a good selection of beers, fast service and great indoor and outside space and you have a winner. Dog friendly too! Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Booked dinner after looking at reviews beforehand and was really impressed with the service and the top-quality food as well as the menu choices - superb experience, especially after a long day of cycling.

What a special place the White Hart Inn is! We greatly loved our two nights in Hawes and the White Hart Inn really was a wonderful choice. The staff were just so friendly and helpful! Big thank you to James for all that he helped with : ) Our room was a twin room as that was all that was available at booking time. The room was very spacious, clean and comfy. The beds were great and the bathroom was large and well appointed. Our breakfasts were just out of this world yum and we also had dinner on our first night. That was probably one of the best meals we had on the trip. Thank you Andrew for your tips and suggestions for our day out. You have a lovely place and we look forward to returning again one day soon!

We were here for 2 dinners, as although walking the Pennine Way, we chose Hawes for a rest day as so much to do here. We are vegan to try to help climate change and for our health. We reserved a table for the 2 nights and it was all ready for us. Service excellent Food excellent too. Slightly worried about amount of protein in the vegan Wild Mushroom Bourguignon Pie as we were needing protein and it did not taste as good as my husband's choice, that I had the second night as had more protein Spiced Roasted Potatoes, Cauliflower & Chickpeas, white bean hummus, followed by vegan Boozy Black Forest Mess, vegan meringue, mixed berry compote, non-dairy cream, Kir-soaked cherries. Highly recommend.

More of a restaurant than a pub, but great food!!

We went for dinner, very friendly staff, quick service, we felt it was quite expensive but there isn't really any choice in the village at the moment (the other pub isn't serving food). Having said that, all of the food was excellent and the overall atmosphere great.

The service and food were merely mediocre, and the meal was therefore very overpriced. Definitely not the “gastropub” they describe themselves to be. We had the lamb roast dinner. Very disappointed. Tasted microwaved. Reminded me of school or hospital dinners. Gravy tasted a bit like Bisto gravy. Mint sauce was good quality - freshly homemade, but the rest was very poor.

From an excellent menu we chose superb roast beef, promptly served by friendly staff. A refreshing change NOT to have an overloaded plate of roast lunch. The food looked attractive on the plate, tasted good and was excellent value. The chef is doing a great job here. Dessert was, again, beautifully served. Next time we are in Hawes, will be heading for The White Hart Inn!

What can I say, Staff are fantastic and helpful, even though it was busy they spent time to help us get sorted and in the room. They allowed me to put my motorbike into the beer garden in the evening to keep it secure. The room was amazing and clean with large tv. Now to the food, well, it was bloody perfect 👌... good choice on the menu and well priced. Plenty of beer choices and many other drinks. For anyone reading this, I highly recommend them if you are in Hawes for a day and want food or want to stay, it's just a spot on place. Oh, and the breakfast is top notch. Excellent food, service and beer. Had the vegetarian mushroom pie and chocolate torte. Pint or two of Askrigg Beer.

Had supper here. It was a revelation. Not expensive considering the quality. Real ales. I wish I could eat there again, but sadly our tour of the Dales is over!

Enjoyed a very good meal served by friendly attentive staff. The best of Yorkshire hospitality and food in a very lovely place. Didn't stay the night so could not comment on the rooms.

Lovely pub B&B in the middle of Hawes. Rooms are modern and spacious. Food is wonderful. No parking but plenty of free parking within a short walk. Wonderful location in Wensleydale with the creamery just up the road.

I spent 1 night here as I was walking through on the Pennine Way (May 13th, 2024). I received a very friendly welcome from the staff. Even though I had arrived 5 hrs earlier than expected, they were very accommodating & as I was the only guest that day (due to a cancellation of guests they got my room ready early so I could shower and enjoy Hawes. My room was very clean, plenty of space, a nice modern bathroom & a large comfy bed with different pillows (soft & firmer). I had my evening meal there too, the side dish of heritage tomatoes simply drizzled with balsamic was so tasty. Haven't had sweet juicy tomatoes like that for ages. The homemade steak & pancetta pie was great as was the pudding, a zesty lime pie with pineapple & passion fruit sorbet. Great selection of local real ales too, I had 3 different ones and they were all superb. I would definitely recommend staying here. Because Hawes is a very busy market town there is always going to be a little traffic noise especially on the cobbles streets, and as this is a pub you can hear the murmur of voices till closing time, but these things are factors that affect most accommodation in Hawes.

Great food, great service, good beers, and a good time. Menu excellent, although the steak pie was not typical, and I had good envy because the lamb rump my partner had was a thing of beauty. Desserts were good, although the vegan caramel tahini tart was super sticky, so maybe don’t offer that to anyone who is a messy eater… Top tip - at busy times your table time is limited to 90 minutes as they’ll rebook it for someone else. At least that means there’s never a wait for your food!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Great pub. Literally the only thing I don't like is the non-restaurant end used to be cosy and traditional. It's now had a very chain pub style makeover and some really poor furniture choices with a load of bar stools and tall tables facing the wall. If I want to stare at a wall I'll stay at home.

Service was good and we had a warm welcome. Four in our party and we all had the steak pie. This was unfortunately a little disappointing. Beautiful pastry and gravy let down by rather tough meat. The pub is dog friendly.

PIES to DIE for ........ Starving, I called in at the White Hart yesterday for Lunch I ordered Steak and Stilton Pie, it arrived with a handsome lashing of deep tasty gravy, well I love my pies out, but this was the best ever, gorgeous pastry and a handsome portion of beef hiding below. Followed by a stunning "Black Forest Brownie and Ice Cream" ..... I wasn't the only satisfied customer Staff were friendly and chatty , beer was tremendous

Had a great week, last week dining at the great restaurant of this hotel. We were staying in Hawes, in a house, for a week, and booked the restaurant for 4 evening meals, before we left home. In the end, we added a fifth evening, as we just couldn't resist it. All of the staff were great, especially the more experienced ones. The younger staff were learning well. Just can't recommend this place enough.

Steak pie is delicious!! Lean steak, lovely chunky chips & red wine gravy-we all ate the same & loved it. Service great & very welcoming.

Staff were attentive and polite. Food was amazing. Pretty full. Menu price structure interesting. Expensive mains, medium deserts, quite cheap drinks.

Good tasty food, well presented by attentive and polite staff. This was a very busy restaurant probably due to the quality of food and choice on offer, so I guess booking is recommended. I can thoroughly recommend the lamb and steak pie dish’s and the mushroom soup, which were very tasty. All a tad expensive but you only get what you pay for.

Overpriced - whilst the food was nice it was very expensive for what was served. £55 for two main courses is expensive and just wasn't as nice as we had expected. Tha bok choi was over cooked and soggy and too much sauce on the noodles with soggy peppers. The lamb dish was better but not five star. Atmosphere and pub was lovely and service great.

We didn't stay, just had drinks. Place was packed and people waiting for tables. Definitely book in advance if youre dining. Very popular spot, for good reason. Highly recommend.
