Costa in Richmondshire

Arrived at 16.35 on Bank Holiday Monday. I asked if they were still serving as a large section was not in use, they had cleared and moved chairs away from and area and were in the process of cleaning the coffee machine. A young girl said we close at 5pm, no smile, no hello. She was not happy when we ordered 2 coffees and sat down. At 16.55 she appeared over my shoulder and said "we close in 5 minutes" I replied yes I am aware of that and had not forgotten that we have been a great inconvenience to you!!! She then went outside to collect the A frame in puffing if her vape. Wrong person to work in a coffee house in a customer service job. Obviously didn't want to he there. Very rude no manners.

Another good Costa. You know what to expect with Costa and this one doesn’t disappoint. Clean and great coffee

Went in at 7.30am. Was totally ignored by barista while she was collapsing boxes. Was noticed and then told it was at the till. Told not asked. I have customer service experience and the attitude and customer service from this girl was absoultely atrocious. No smile, no interaction. She was totally disinterested in me as a customer. I would retrain her or she would be out the door. Her attitude was deplorable. Hot chocolate and cake was excellent, pity about the service.

Barista was an absolute disgrace. Spoke to me eventually after ignoring me for a good 5 mins. I have customer service experience and this was absolutely atrocious. This girl should retrain or be shown the door. It was 7.30am. I was the only customer standing there she totally lacked all customer skills and manners. It's a good job the hot chocolate and cake made up for her attitude.

In reality, a disappointing experience. We only called in for a coffee and tea. It wasn’t particularly busy so service was prompt with pleasant staff. Unfortunately, my americano was only lukewarm warm which , I have to admit, is unusual for Costa. My partner’s tea was OK but again nothing special. Not our best coffee break!

My favourite place to come, Hannah and her team are fantastic. The one thing that always stands out is that no matter how busy they are they always have smiles on their faces. I dont normally eat here however my daughter loves the sandwiches and treats and she is very fussy! Amazing team and amazing coffee, what more could I ask for!

The lady who served me wasn’t pleasant or friendly, didn’t ask if I wanted regular or large, didn’t ask if I wanted cream. There wasn’t much of a queue so didn’t need to rush. The man put my hot chocolate down. I left feeling really miserable and that’s probably last time I go in there.

My favourite barristas. Today was extremely busy but the service was still exemplary despite the challenges they faced (broken dishwasher). I would highly recommend a visit to the delightful staff in this store. I'm a regular customer and always have a positive experience here.

Nice to receive a free cake birthday treat. Selection of cake was one. Not a large slice glad I was not paying for it as not worth £3.50. Service was poor as assistant was not attentive as to me at the counter. No one in the cafe at the time

Rather full due to the weather it was a reasonable Costa experience but I have to question why it takes so long to put hot water in two teapots. My Raspberry and Almond Bake was edible but a bit on the dry side. Had hoped upstairs might be open as that would have provided an excellent view of the square.

Got a takeaway Cappuccino from here, it was the worst cup of coffee I've ever had 0/10. I was too far away to be bothered to go back and complain once I'd started my drink. It was watery and the coffee was so bitter it was undrinkable. They also put so much chocolate sprinkles on top it was like a crust.

I like Costa Coffee & go in them elsewhere, but every Sunday for 5 years I have bought two takeaway cappuccinos at Costa Richmond. If I were researching a book on the love & other life of baristas it would be great, but after queuing most weeks while 4 teenage staff stand chatting while one customer gets served at a time - with my partner stood outside with my dog when naturally it sometimes rains, this week I tried Wilfreds Deli and the coffee was nicer and cheaper. The grown ups serving at independent Wilfreds were very friendly and efficient. I appreciate Costa staff will not be paid much so they just need proper guidance eg serve the customers. ps I know dogs are allowed in, but the time it takes for a coffee he would wreck the place.

Nice little Costa near the town centre, with a nice view.

Visit each time visiting family in Richmond. Often quite busy. Staff pleasant. Only downfall they never seem to credit you for using your own cup, happened on more than 1 occasion. Some confusion when having an offer as to which items are included.

A great afternoon, great coffee and tasty mince pie. Located in a area that needs a parking disc though so if new to area please be aware of this as they do fine for not displaying disc.

Visited many Costas due to travelling for work, usually love the atmosphere but not here, staff rude and inattentive, manageress sullen and sulky with no customer service skills, felt I was interrupting their girls night in gossiping than being a paying customer. Would normally sit in and work but got my coffee and left after a long wait. I think a huge staff shake up is needed. Not a good experience at all

Rude staff, I was served a coffee which was dragged over the counter where there was either chocolate or cinnamon powder and as I didn’t want it smudging anywhere I asked for a tissue. Hannah, who worked there made a comment on whether I was drinking the coffee from the bottom of the cup. Very poor and rude customer service, when I asked if she said something her attitude was rude - need to be trained on customer service and politeness.

Drinks were good quality but the staff were rude gossiping and talking about other staff members and customers

Not much to say really, one Costa is the same as another! Nice coffee, but not a lot of choice for vegans; unfortunately, much the same as other high street coffee shops.

Normal Costa which always seems to be busy. Sometimes difficult to find a table. Service good and friendly.

Normal Costa style and service, walked around Richmond to find a decent place for a coffee, the 'traditional' cafe's were all a bit naff. You know where you are and what you get with Costa. No complaints at all, and the warm mince pies were delicious.

You can purchase coffee here. If you need coffee, that should be adequate information to help you decide whether to visit.

Young staff behind the counter are more interested in talking amongst themselves than showing your customers attention. Might be why the drink was wrong and they missed one off.

Ordered a latte and almost had my mouth set on fire. It was hotter than molten lava. Coffee burnt, Milk burnt, and a foul after taste.

Coffee was okay and staff friendly, staff keeping tables etc sanitized and controlled people in and out was excellent

We were pushed for time so came in here rather than using an independent cafe. My mini flat white was very good indeed as was the cheese and sun-dried tomato toastie. They also take COVID hygiene seriously.

This is the smallest Costa that I have seen. Even less seats with Covid. However enjoyed our pot of tea here before going to the castle.

This Costa is in a lovely old building. It's such a shame that the upstairs isn't refurbished and made use of for extra seating as this place can get busy and there's only a small amount of seating. Staff friendly.

Went in here while I was in Richmond. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The store was clean . The drink was good and staff listened to what I told them.

Ok branch. Staff not as friendly as some branches. Not as good selection of newspapers to read. Coffee cups decorations hanging from ceiling looked good. Reasonably busy considering there is a lot of competition locally in the Market Place. Food good. A good stopping place on way to Dales. Don’t forget your parking disc for the town. Prices good. Use reward card.

As always a visit was very very but was still exactly the same as if you were the only customer in there it really is the best Costa 100% credit the manager and her staff to Costa

Building/ layout is an awkwatd shape for a Costa, but the place is well-designed within those constraints, and was clean & tidy. Lady working there the day I went was very friendly & helpful. Made having a hot chocolate & a toastie on a cold, miserable day at least half-way pleasant.

Always welcoming, good products, polite staff that care. More than just a coffee shop. Full of regulars, tourists from far away places and walkers. One or two outside tables which are hugely popular. A well managed establishment.

We always call in at Costa wherever we go, but in the heatwave of 30+ degrees the air con here was a godsend!

Popped in for refreshments on our travels. It was very quiet which made for attentive service. Teas, coffees and cakes procured we hit the road again. Looked very nice.

Whatever the weather, Costa in Richmond brightens anyone's day. Daily papers, fresh produce served with a smile. Nice atmosphere for young and mature customers, a nice starting place to begin any day.

It's Costa, or maybe it should be called Ronseal as it does exactly what it says on the tin! Tasty food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. Nuff said!

This Costa is probably one of the better ones it is quite spacious but the seating is cramped because of the layout. The staff were friendly and helpful and the coffee and food was of usual standard. Because there are a number of coffee shops in Richmond this one needs to keep up standards to compete currently it is very good and worth a visit if you like the Costa brand.

I visit Costa every morning and every single morning the same friendly fantastic service drinks and food absolutely fantastic every time lovely bunch of girls and Alex they are a credit to Costa Richmond North Yorkshire

was in Richmond working we went into costa coffee for a break we had coffee and snack bar very nice welcome and had a costa card and one coffee free .nice and clean and no rush to leave could stay as long as you like good
