Great place for a pit stop. Toilets and a takeaway café/food is delicious plenty of parking

Didn't actually try the food but the venue was super useful, loads of parking and space to exercise the dogs

Very welcome stop on the journey from Scottish borders to Penrith. Clean toilets there too if that's all you stop for but a hot drink and cake were welcomed by us as well

Staff are polite and smiles all round ..... Cheeseburger was delicious... what lacks is car parking for cars, should be a separate area so trucks needing a break can pull over... in a place they will feel rested...

Basic layby with very old toilets. Ok for quick cuppa or butty.

During a power cut, they still allowed me to use their toilets while the nearby motorway services were stopping people entering . I have previously had nice coffee and cakes

Sunday 22nd September... Nobody being served at all but 2 staff members more interested in taking between them about holidays than serving customers.... Stood for 15 minutes not even acknowledged. Used to be a good cafe now it's just ran terrible.... And £1.80 for a cuppa tea 😂😂😂

It is an institution, i have been stopping here for a tea, bacon and egg sandwich and a tea for over 50 years. Functional toilets, cheery banter and a spot to stretch your legs before heading over the Pennines. Truckers, bikers, people with dogs all of life stops here for a chat, for who does not like a BEST with brown sauce and a mug of tea.

A good place to stretch your legs. The toilets weren’t as bad as I’d imagined, didn’t smell but the roadside where we parked smelled off urine strangely (guess people do tend to mess up around). Nice sitting area as well

Good quality food, vfm prices - eh Full English breakfast box - 2 sausage, 2 bacon , egg, toast , mushrooms, beans, tomatoes - £6. Tra- £1:80. Staff happy, chatty friendly. Toilets on site. Benches for outside consumption. Plenty of parking.

It’s a transport cafe. The toilets are from the last century. Disabled toilet the lazer key issued to you doesn’t work on the locks, and when asked for a key was ignored

It's a perfect stop off between the A1 and A66.

I've been to here every year i travel to scotland as a kid and now as a adult with my own kids , food is good, the price is excellent, and the people are lovely , highly recommended stopping here for a pit stop and has toilet's

Been stopping at Sedbury for 34 years. Food always cooked to order and never disappoints. Lovely to be able to sit outside on the picnic tables.

Great place for a mug of tea and a bite to eat when travelling from Kent to Scotland.

Quick stopover to use the toilets. We then however smelled the delicious food and had to order some bacon rolls. Delicious!

Great and convenient place for a brew and breakfast roll. First went to the original cafe as a kid in the 80s.

Just used the lay-by for our break to have our tea and sandwiches, the cafe looked busy when we drove past. It is a good long lay by plenty of spaces.

No decent Coffee or Tea. Rolls are adequate, no square sausage as advertised ? Toilets and good area for Dog to exercise is a bonus 🤟

Nice place to stop. Cafe food was nice quality for bacon/sausage/burger type joint. Enjoyed it.

Food not too bad, and priced sensibly. Toilets are abysmal, filthy, no lock on the only trap in the gents. Service okay, but always get the feeling they are talking over or past me rather than too me. Loads of rats running about on the other side of the layby. Junction 51 Coneygarth (Diner 51) is a better option.

It's become a habit with me now, whenever I'm out this way I'll stop for a cuppa and a piece of millionaire shortbread. Good tea too.

Called out to help a stranded friend, I've been here often, it's a great place to stop before heading west over the top to the lake District, the food is normal British roadside cafe food, there are toilet facilities and even picnic tables,

Always a good spot to stop for food and wc facilities. The food is always how you order it and generally you do not have to wait long for. I always have a crispy egg and vacon sarny on white toast no butter with cup of tea .... .. SPOT ON!😉

This is a good value refreshment stop. What a pleasant surprise to buy tea and coffee and not having to take out a mortgage! The added bonus is the pleasantly cheerful service. Well done!

This take away is perfect for anyone on a journey, hot sandwiches and cold sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and friendly staff too.

Stopped on way to a job plenty of space for trucks to park up, and decent food at a good price hard to find it nowadays.

This is a 'take-away' cafe that is in a lay-by. It is a place that is visited by haulage firms and passing traffic, the type of food is bacon or sausage baps and the like, pies, chips, hot & cold drinks. There are toilets at the rear of he cafe that are wheelchair friendly although the disable toilet was locked when I was there, I did manage to use the gents toilet in my manual wheelchair.

Note: having taken this complaint up with management of the Government agency who manage the site, I was assured that improvements woukd be made. Hopefully you have seen such improvements for 2024. If not, please update. I cannot comment on the cafe food because I declined to eat there, given the disgusting, unhygienic area that this pit stop is in. The cafe know how disgusting the toilets are...but nothing is done about it! Toilets: absolute disgraceful. The men's toilet stinks. The one cubicle toilet was BLOCKED and a TWIG is used to keep the door 'locked'. Filthy floors. No soap in tje dispenser. In summary: if desperate you'll need to use the facility, otherwise steer clear. Take sanitising gel with you because otherwise you will not be able to clean your hands UNLESS they refill dispenser. Outside area stinks too - likely people are using the outside area in preference of the toilets. I don't condone such behaviour, but I understand the logic.

Outdoor layby stop. Basic, no covered area, but did a decent cup of coffee and a very nice bacon cob. Toilet facilities tatty, but clean. Sausage cobs also good, as are toasties!

I had a double burger with bacon and ot looked absolutely filthy(in a good way like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct ( and tasted fantastic accompanied by a house speciality " Diet Apple Pie " which had all the taste but errr apparently No Calories ;-) SUPPORT SMALL LOCAL BUSINESS stop here !

I’ve only stopped here twice and both times the woman serving is about as friendly as a Rottweiler that’s just swallowed a wasp , I’m all for giving people a second chance and this place has failed twice so I’ll just go elsewhere from now on

Called by on way to Carlisle to get a sausage & egg cob. Wished I hadn't. Purposely avoided the 'tea' as I'd had one on a previous visit and ended up throwing it away. The sausage & egg cob was way overcooked & rubbery. Threw most of that away too. Vowed never to return. Terrible food (if you can call it that) and very overpriced. Avoid.

Always stop here for a brief rest and a little hot food on my way to Scotland. Plenty of parking for cars and HGVs. A wide choice of hot food to choose from and hot or cold drinks. Situated on the A66 just a little way from Scotch Corner. There is a large grassed area where travellers often give their doggy passengers a walk. Plenty of picnic tables to use in the good weather too. Basic toilet facilities when the food outlet is open.

A very useful pit stop with all services needed on journey.

Thick rock hard bacon that was so salty it made your eyes water. Luke warm sausages. Soggy breadcake. Worst sand wich I have ever had.

Stopped here for stop over in our campervan whilst in the way to Scotland. Pitch black upon arrival no street lighting and as it is a regular stop off for lorries their was a strong smell of urine. In the morning we discovered there are toilet and a cafe at the end of the layby. Sign states 2 hours max parking, but it is clearly used as a stop over, very noisy with lorries arriving and leaving.

Convenient place to stop with toilets and a snack bar with fair prices. Food is excellent as is the tea. Layby spoilt somewhat like so many in the UK and abroad due to the smell of urine.

Absolutely disgusting sausage sandwich. Never experienced anything like it in my whole life. I threw it in the the over flowing bins opposite the cafe. Even the scavenging crows and rooks sat on the bins left it alone.

I used to call here regularly on my daily run to Lockerbie. Must of changed Owners or staff. It is better to go without than visit.

The toilets are absolutely filthy not fit to use. These facilities need inspecting We stopped her on the way to the Lakes never again.

Just bought two expensive breakfast sandwiches and wish we hadn't bothered. Everything was black as it would appear no-one ever cleans the griddle. The servery area was disgustingly filthy and needed a good clean. To add insult there were three staff all stood with their arms folded chatting. The bin area was disgusting and we daredn't even try the toilets. What has happened to this place, it used to be so good. I only hope for their sake they don't get a visit from the environmental health.

The management changed here some time before the pandemic and, in many ways, the place is still not quite as good as it used to be under the old ownership. Having said that, the food is fine even if the choice is a little reduced from previously. The opening hours are longer as well. But, there are nothing like the number of table/benches that there use to be and the number of rubbish bins also still seems to be reduced side. All-in-all, we still stop here when passing (even if our journey is west to east and we need to go to the roundabout to access the lay-bay) as we feel that it is preferable to the Scotch Corner Services

Like many other layby with cafes and hot menus, toilets and cafes opening up to evening.

We didn't purchase anything from the cafe, but it was an excellent place to take a break with ample toilet facilities and bins. If you need somewhere to stop, you can get cafe food, access the facilities and take a break.

The cafe is great. Reasonably priced with great choice. Grassed area to eat and relax. Toilets in desperate need of work

Very nice lay-by area. Here they have a cafe that serves all range of breakfast meals including square sausage and black pudding. Toilet facilities are very clean. Dog walking area also. Have knocked a star off because they do not serve hash browns with their breakfast items. All in all very friendly staff. Would recommend.

Great place to stop at the beginning of the A66 when going westwards. Lots of easy parking, toilets, small take away cafe, and some picnic benches. Easy to get back into the A66 going westwards.

Always a pleasant stop. I generally make a comfort stop here then buy coffee and and cake from the kiosk. A good vibe here. Not expensive. Apetising aromas. Obliging, well mannered staff, picnic tables to sit at. A real gem.
