The Farmers Arms Scorton in Richmondshire

Tried this lovely pub for the first time earlier this week with friends for an evening meal off the weekday menu. I had Scampi which was wholetail, light batter , served with the best chips I’ve had in ages . Others had chicken and burger, all were beautifully cooked and quality ingredients. Eaton Mess was spot on and the sticky toffee and custard had us drooling ! The atmosphere was what you’d want in a lovely cosy country inn, the owners were very friendly, service friendly and quick without feeling rushed. They also accommodated our 2 large dogs offering a nice treat and water. We loved it that much we’ve just returned from Sunday lunch !! Prawn cocktail starters were excellent, more prawn than salad 👍, soup, black pudding and bacon , all served with a warm crusty roll, all were very good. 3 of us had roast beef dinners and one roast pork - the veg was cooked perfectly, as were the mash and roast potatoes. Yorkshire pudding were just right. None of us could find space for a pudding but the menu has something for everyone. We shall most definitely return again.

A wonderful return visit after leaving the area 13yrs ago, for a celebratory family meal. Brian as always cooked a fabulous meal using great quality produce and generous portion sizes and come hungry because the puddings are die for. He also altered a menu item to gluten free for my mother-in-law (did have gulten free options on the menu) and the staff made our evening warm and welcoming. Lovely outdoor seating area for sunny days and evenings overlooking the village green.

We were staying locally and thought we would venture out for some food, we were greeted by the loveliest lady who gave us lots of recommendations of various ciders, we were seated for food and ordered a child’s meal and two of the black pudding and mushroom parmo’s with chips and coleslaw, hands down the best parmo we have had for a long time, succulent and cooked to perfection, the lady was very attentive throughout and she was very chatty with everyone, only one slight critique was that we overheard the table next to us being offered some chef specials which we were not offered but would of probably ordered, overall I would definitely recommend and the food and service was bang on the money !!

We had not been here since we left the area 10 years ago. But called in last Saturday for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed. Surprised it wasn't busier because it was a lovely call in. Very friendly welcome and a lovely atmosphere. We just had lunch - superb soup and then excellent baguettes, so full we couldn't eat all the fillings. Would totally recommend.

Really nice chips were amazing, I had to share mine as I was full but worth the money. Shame about the language at the next table though, they were middle aged too I would have thought they would have had more decency. It was particularly disgusting language, not what you want when you’ve emptied your piggy bank for a one off.

My sister and I, along with 5 children, stopped off here last night in the hope of finding a half decent meal and a glass of wine after a long journey. Well, we were in for a treat..the atmosphere was lovely with friendly locals who chatted with us and made us feel very welcome. The staff, in particular the wonderful Lewis, went above and beyond to ensure we were well fed and watered and even entertained the younger children 🥰 And the food was outstanding! Everything was freshly made, delicious and reasonably priced. We could have stayed in there all night enjoying the atmosphere and the company. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, we’d love to return!

We booked the pub for our post wedding recovery day and the staff were so accomodating. The food is delicious, the drinks were cold and all of our friends and family had a wonderful time. We went for a meal - after searching online we took the dog, however it's NOT dog friendly in the restraunt, only the BAR... The Food is OK, but with growing teens £17 for just lasagne with salad didn't hit the spot. He was soon raiding out cupboards - chips would be nice also. Haha ! Very clean. Lovely toilets. Great staff.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch at this establishment with friends that we hadn’t seen for many years. Our friends booked the table as we live in Leicester, and they couldn’t have chosen a better place to have something to eat. Our first impressions of this eatery were really good as we were attended to immediately on our arrival by a member of the inns friendly staff. We were quickly shown to our table, given menus and the drinks orders taken. The drinks arrived at the table a short time later and our meal orders were taken – all four of us ordered a roast dinner. The meals took no time at all to arrive at the table and they looked really nice and were hot and tasted great. The plates were cleared soon after we had finished our main course, and even though we got generous portions we all thought that we could fit in a sweet. Orders were swiftly taken, and the desserts arrived just as snappily as the main course. Again, they looked and tasted delicious. It will probably be a good long while before we are in the area again, but we will recommend to our friends that they book this place for our catch-up meal as it was just a thoroughly pleasant experience.

Such a friendly, welcoming place. An extensive menu with several versions of regional dish parmo as well as the usual pub classics. A family run pub with the emphasis on excellent customer service. Just wish we lived closer. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

This is fast becoming one of our favourite places to visit Sunday Lunches are exceptional - served with fresh in season veg, hot and tasty Main menu meals are again tasty and look as good as they taste Nat and her front of house team have got it just right. Really gone down hill regarding the quality of the food, veg either raw or overcooked, watery cauliflower (frozen) tasteless sauce, looked insipid. Gravy was gloopy, not very warm and over priced. Didn’t do poultry, all meat was from the 4 legged beasts.

The Place is Scorton, The Pub is the Farmers Arms, the staff are amazing, and the menu is new! I took the wife out for a quite midweek meal to our local pub, and was greeted as ever with warm smiles and witty comments, with no rush to get us seated, time is not an issue. The menu is new, and the choice is good, very good in fact. My wife went for the chicken burger and tweaked it by removing the bacon, I opted for the dirty burger and removed anything that I thought looked healthy, all of which they were happy to do. And I'm more than happy to report, it was probably the best burger I've had in a long long time, and the wife was equally impressed with her meal. So much so that we were too full to even look at the desert menu - now that is an admition!! The pub has a good range of the usual drinks and I noticed a few specialist beers. It's a very friendly family pub, and they are always happy to see new faces walk through the door, hopefully becoming old friends. Do yourself a favour and look in on this place.

Went in for a weekday lunch on Wednesday 15th Jan 2020 with my brother-in-law. Greeted warmly at the bar and after ordering drinks, sat down to look at the menu. A good choice of entrees for a lunchtime, albeit the prices are a bit higher than usual pub fare prices. The food was well presented, of very good quality and portion size was very good. The food was very tasty, wholesome and filling. We had no room for a desert!At £31 for two main courses and two soft drinks, it may appear a little pricey, however the food was very good.

Visited today for a Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, the service was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious! But best of all our son whom has a dairy allergy was not only catered for, but the team both in the kitchen and front of house went above and beyond to ensure the experience was one of delight for him! His pudding wasn’t an afterthought as it has been in many other establishments, so much so that when it arrived at the table his little brother exclaimed “wow I want the vegan option too!” We will definitely be visiting again ... next time for two dairy free puddings ;)

Ordered through Just Eat when my husband rang to enquire on where our food was as it was after delivery time was told never received order at first then told that Just Eat hadn’t assigned a driver and there wasn’t anything they could do as Just Eat where responsible, when I contacted Just Eat was told the restaurant had accepted the order wrong and the restaurant were arranging delivery, so after almost an hour trying to sort, order is cancelled and money should be back in my account within 24hours. I think the restaurant could do with more training on how to accept orders if they are going to continue with accepting orders this way but won’t be trying again.

It’s the first time we’ve been there since it’s been taken over by Natalie and partner. We had a lovely time. Very welcoming and great service. The food was amazing. A little pricey but I don't mind paying for quality.

Very warm welcome, when we arrived, although we have been before we were made to feel very special, the staff were fantastic, very helpful and couldn,tdo enough for us. The food was delicious and plentiful, I would reccommend this place for anyone. The bar area was busy and friendly, we were in the restauant and we were able to chat and were not hurried.

We were a party of 7 adults early evening on Saturday and the pub didn't appear too busy but we waited a long time to order our food. We then waited over an hour for the food to arrive with no apology. When the food did eventually arrive it was under par and was a very miserly portion!!!!. We regularly go out to eat and I have to say its the only time I have ever felt robbed at the prices and poor quality of the food!!!! I did ring the pub 3 times to give them feed back but the landlord / chef didn't want to speak to me. WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.

We are so happy to have chosen this friendly little pub for a “half way meeting point” to catch up with friends. We had a warm and friendly greeting from the landlady. When it came to ordering our meals she was very patient and thorough in explaining the menu and ingredients used. Our choices made, we sat back and enjoyed a convivial drink and chat. The food arrived - very obviously freshly cooked to order- piping hot and tasting as delicious as it looked. The menu is very well thought out with some comfortable reliable dishes but some very nice specials. Two in our party chose the special board curry and were very impressed. We were left to enjoy our meal. We did not feel rushed to leave. We are very happy to recommend this as a lunch time venue for couples or a group like ourselves.

Visited here with family for food and the quiz as we were staying in the village. Very friendly and welcoming and the food very well cooked, tasty and huge portions, would definitely recommend here and return for the quiz night which was great fun, packed out and the £1 sausage and chips supper proved very popular.

First time ever in Scorton for some pub food. We had a delicious 10 oz Rump Steak and a Fish & Chips plate. Great staff: friendly and quick. The Ossett Brewery real ale Blond was OK.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at the Farmers Arms. I have eaten there before but first time with family for Sunday lunch. I think it will become a regular event. Everything tasted delicious and the Treacle Sponge was gorgeous.

The place is warm and welcoming, staff friendly and curtious. The food was delicious and generous helpings. Even though one of our party altered her meal they could not have been more accommodating to us. The dining room was very clean and plenty of room.

Been for lunch and dinner several times over the years, however popped in on the way past on Friday evening, ordered a drink and got a table, while the place was not overly busy we gave up after no body came to take our order after a considerable time.

We traveled down from Sunderland this evening for a bar meal with another couple,(they had been a few times before and said it was great so we decided to try it with them) the food was excellent I had the ribeye steak which was cooked lovely served with home made chips onion rings and mushrooms, the desserts were very nice indeed I had the Eton mess , the staff were very welcoming and friendly , dogs are allowed in the bar area which is brilliant as I have a lovely cocker spaniel who I like to take out with us. The prices were very reasonable food was proper food not frozen. I would definitely go back if I was in the area.

Sunday lunch. We all chose the traditional roast beef. the menu had some really nice meals on it, a good choice. there was slow roasted beef, pink beef and pork on this week. there was a big Yorkshire pubbing, tasty gravy, sauces were available, the beef was tender and the portion was ample;

Having my wife's aunt and uncle to stay for a few days we chose the farmers arms.

Chose to go here to meet relatives and this pub was about halfway between homes.

Really nice food with plenty for the price. Went on Bank Holiday evening and felt a little understaffed. Could have done with extra pair of hands helping serve when rushes and clearing and wiping tables. A shame because 5 stars otherwise. Do pubs have landlords these days?
