The range and standard of food is excellent. The menu offers some of the old classics but there are also many chef's dishes and recommendations that I haven't encountered before. I've now tried several and invariably, the quality of the food is excellent, with unusual flavour combinations that work very well. The portion sizes are spot on, sometimes, I'm full after the starter, but here you get a decent portion of good food. There tends to be only one person front of house so, at peak times, the service for drinks etc can be a little slow, but the food comes quickly and piping hot from the kitchen. Also, be aware that Prachin only takes cash. A great local gem.

Seven family members turned up for an evening meal. We should have realised as it was a Friday night and it was not busy. The service was poor but the standard of food was just shocking. We all chose something different and we didn’t get one good meal between us.absolutely tasteless and poor. So much so my brother was up half the night being sick. Stay clear of this place guys

Great to see that the curry house in Hawes is back in the hands of owners who know what they’re doing and finally licensed! The restaurant now called Voujon, was a vast improvement, the menu was excellent as was the service, so now it’s up to all those complaining locals to support them throughout the winter period........

We did not realise there was an Indian restaurant in Hawes but following a recommendation from staff at a local cafe we decided to give the Prachin restaurant a try. What a great decision. We enjoyed a very, very good meal served by helpful and attentive staff. The best Indian food we have had in a long time.

Both my wife and myself enjoyed a very good meal here. Food was of a high standard and the price was reasonable. Good menu choice available and the waiter was very polite and helpful. Only negative was payment was cash only, although there is a cash point very near to the restaurant.

Wow! Staying at the caravan club, went last night for a meal with my husband and parents and from the minute we walked through the door, the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The service was quick and I started with an onion bhaji which was amazing. I then had the butter chicken which is my go to dish and this is definitely the best I’ve ever had. My husband had a prawn biryani and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are back in October and we will definitely be returning!!

Was going to sit in but due to unforeseen circumstances we had a takeaway. Lovely friendly guy took my order and I paid 30 minutes later when I collected my food. Poppadums fine as were the pickles, two chicken main courses were excellent, nice rice and lovely nan bread. There were a few people in on a Wednesday night. Enjoyed our food and wouldn’t hesitate to return and have a sit in meal.

I'm very particular about my curries and am a hard man to please. Went into this restaurant and we were the only customers there at 6.30. Alarm bells were quieted by the succession of carry outs being collected, if the locals are on board so am I. The new owners have had the place 4weeks and they have made huge strides in reversing the reputation. The food was excellent, tasty fresh cooked and good value. The naan bread was particularly worthy of comment, light, a hint of crispness, excellent. Lets hope they keep this standard going, will definitely be back next year to see. Well done the refs and front of house.

Prachin closed (no surprise after last visit). New owners renamed the restaurant Voujon. Vastly superior Bangladeshi food. Menu goes beyond the usual suspects (Chicken Korma et al). Had 3 dishes each with complex, unique flavors. The nan bread just held back the rating to 4 stars but I admit to being picky about nan bread.

We have the take away the benefit of the mediocre reviews and let’s say we regretted it. Ordered two pickle trays (and paid for them) only two mint sauces supplied. Main courses very bland and almost gravy like- not what we were after from a curry!! Side dish vegetables almost inedible- mushrooms just greecy- more like a bad cooked breakfast not Indian side dish, spinach just bland and almost a boiled flavour, yuck. Let’s just say most went in the bin, such a shame. Won’t bother again.

This restaurant opens a little late for us (1830) and you have to check the opening times in the off season, we ordered a take away and on arrival back where we were staying found some items missing, the staff are very friendly and sorted things out but it was a faff I could have done without, as said there is no licence so you need to take your own beer, our meal was ok nothing special and the portion size was smaller than I’m used to, the menu has a good choice and its located in off the main high street so you need to really look to find it.

For our first night in Hawes we thought we’d try Prachin as we hadn’t had an Indian meal for a while. The poppadoms were fine, pickle tray was expensive, our main course vegetable dopiaza was edible. The prawn rogan josh was awful. It looked like prawns in a red sauce with a few tomatoes. I don’t think the prawns were cooked and I’m sure none of the other ingredients were fresh. Even my husband’s lemonade was flat. The chapatis had come out of a packet and were undercooked.

If your looking for a curry in Hawes after a day on the dales you should remember they don’t have a license so no beer. They do however allow BYO but we only realised this after we had ordered our food and soft drinks when other diners walked in carrying pints from the Fountain pub. A bit disappointed that the waiter didn’t think to mention this or that the web site didn’t mention the BYO.

Service was strange. Asked if we wanted popadoms, but not drinks. Then didn't take our main food order for a while. Restaurant was cold, so we ended up sitting in our coats. It took over 30 minutes to be served our starters which were fine. I was then asked if I would have Peschwari rice instead of the plain boiled rice I'd ordered? why? A table of 8 people arrived, and left as they decided it was too cold to sit in the place.

This has to be the least inviting Indian restaurant we have ever visited. Absolutely no Indian decor at all. Not sure but I think it's maybe a 2 man band. There was 1 man doing the waiting on he did everything from answering the phone, re-laying of tables, serving food, collecting dishes etc. Possibly 1 cook can't use the word chef .....sorry. If its indian you fancy this is your best choice, it is your only choice but not a bad one. A very small place which caters for eating in or takeaway. Be aware that last orders is 9pm. It's unlicenced but you can take your own wine or beer with you or from the pub next door as long as you return the glasses. Food wise! It's okay and getting better, not bad for the only curry house for miles about but just don't accept the popadons if they are come to you soft as they seem to be cooked in advance of the restaurant opening. Popadoms should be crisp and if not send them back. Apart from this issue which the chef needs to know is not acceptable everything else is fine and is improving all of the time. Overall its a canny little place which satisfies your curry fix.
