Very expensive for what we would usually get for £20 cost us £60, forgot to include the garlic nans and after going back they still tasted very plain. Curry was nice but again really small portion of chips and onions bhajis.

I had the Desi Pheasant prepared extra spicy with steamed rice. It was fantastic. I had no regrets about my choice, although I was really torn between several of the options on the menu. They were very attentive and capable of handling my gluten allergy, since most of the menu (except the naan) was gluten free. And we had a great time chatting with Naz.

My family and myself have visited this Indian restaurant since I can remember, fantastic food and the staff are great, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I have done so many times and each and every person I have recommended the saffron to over the years I often see them in there when we visit so just shows you how good the saffron is , 10 out of 10 without a doubt

We found this place whilst I Leyburn on a Friday evening. It had an early bird offer of 20% off. I had a fabulous chicken karahi with garlic naan and the girlfriend, chili mushroom with cheese and garlic naan. With 2 large Kingfishers, 4 poppadoms and pickle tray, £47.50. Was great value and great food.

Brilliant takeaway Indian - excellent staff and customer service introduces you to top class food. The restaurant is adjacent but lacks a bit of atmosphere.

Have eaten in and had takeaways from here often. The food is very tasty. We had a delicious meal with very quick and polite service. Will be back again soon.

We went last night as this was told it was best Indian in Leyburn, wife had tikka masala and I had a different chicken dish, my wife has been sick all night and I have had diarrhea. Feel a bit let down and won’t be going back

Too Notch. Food and service beautiful. Portion size was huge (asked for rest to be boxed up!). Staff lovely. Liked the fact. Its bring your own drink as well (got some wine from co op next door). Excellent meal all round.

This establishment should be called The Highwayman, as once you’ve eaten they rob you of your hard earned money! We viewed their website which states they offer a 20% discount before 7pm. Arrived at 6.30pm and had 3 drinks, poppadoms, 2 starters, 2 mains with rice and 2 side dishes. The prices on the menu were complicated to say the least. Food was good but it was a little weird having your main dish served in a small silver bucket, especially a balti!! When we came to pay we were asked if we wanted to pay cash as they would knock 10% off the bill (probably a fiddle so they don’t declare it to the taxman). We said we wanted to pay by card. No bill was presented and the card machine was thrust at my other half in such a way that he could not see the amount. It wasn’t until we paid and stepped outside that we received a notification from our bank that a payment of nearly £100 had been taken. We were both flabbergasted at the price so my husband went back to check this was in fact correct. The man behind the bar said it was and when asked about the 20% early bird discount, he said we were mistaken and they only offer 10% off if paying cash and this was stated in their terms and conditions on the website. (Nothing in their T&Cs about only getting a discount if you pay cash). Photo added where it clearly shows a 20% discount before 7pm. We didn’t want to cause a scene, so left feeling totally ripped off. We will never step foot in this place again as it would appear they charge what they like. Please make sure you ask to see your bill before paying.

Looked at the web site and it state's before 7.00pm 20% discount eat in or take away. Arrived and shown to table where drinks menu offers 10% discount if paying by cash. Placed our orders, ate and then went to pay. No mention of price just asked did I want to pay cash. Paid by card and left phone advises £94.00 for two starters 3 drinks two main meals with rice. Went back to Saphron who advised menu prices already discounted and as I hadn't paid by cash the 20% didn't apply eventhough we arrived before 7pm and so the costs had gone up. Very misleading and expensive to say the least, £60 might gave been OK for a reasonable meal. DON'T EAT here unless you are happy to be conned when you come to pay. Not many people carry large amounts of cash if any thease days. We won't be returning and advise you not to go and get ripped off like we did.

Absolutely brilliant, had a fantastic meal and amazing service. Great to see Naz who we knew from Red Chilli in Burley. The monkfish starter was a real highlight, the leftover charred onion was lovely to use later in our curries. The curried pheasant was a real highlight and we’d definitely go again to sample more of the menu. Cannot recommend it enough and the downstairs is dog friendly which is brilliant for us. 10/10

Staying in Crakehall for the New Year’s holiday, we had yet another perfect takeaway from Saffron in Leyburn. Yes, there are closer Indian restaurants (we drove 10 miles to get there) but none as good. Friendly service, hearty portions reasonable prices and early bird deals before 19.00 or discount if you can pay cash. We visited twice in May 2024 and came back on New Year’s Day. Hope to visit again later in 2025. Highly recommended.

Where to start. Order for 4 naans. Was informed 30 minutes for collection. Not ready for another 15 minutes. Fair enough it was NYE. Apology would be good. Charged £17 and paid. Seamed expensive and while waiting asked for a menu. “None available they’re online” chap said. Their web page is very confusing. No straight forward menu button. Takes 4 steps to reach (interested if other reviewers found the same). Proprietor very argumentative when this was politely mentioned. Has some great 5 star reviews? They almost sound as if they are professional paid for ones. Naans small but tasted good. HNY!!!

We are a group of 6 on holiday near Leyburn and we ordered takeaway food. We’d read some mixed reviews so weren’t sure what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised. Our order was ready on time, the staff were very friendly and interested in us and every single dish was delicious. We had poppadoms and onion bhajis to start then a mix of curries including vegetarian, chicken and venison dishes plus some sides, rice and Nan breads. The quality of the food was very high and prices very reasonable. We would all highly recommend this restaurant.

Just went to get a takeaway from this so-called restaurant, only to be shamelessly scammed right in front of my eyes. The prices online seem reasonable at first, but when it came time to pay, I was slapped with an absolutely ridiculous and inflated total that made no sense whatsoever. When I questioned it, the man serving me literally started trembling, fumbling for words, and spouting a pathetic excuse about the amount of food I’d ordered. It was beyond obvious he had no clue how to cover up their blatant attempt to overcharge me by £15. The menus in the restaurant? No prices on them at all—just one conveniently hidden behind the till with outrageously inflated numbers they use to “justify” their con. And even then, the prices didn’t match up. They were clearly just making it up as they went along. This place is an absolute disgrace. It’s not just bad business—it’s straight-up theft. Do not waste your time or money here unless you enjoy being lied to, disrespected, and blatantly robbed. The food? Mediocre at best. Not even close to being worth the aggravation. This place is nothing short of a scam.

We decided to go in for a family meal and glad we did. Had the mixed grill and donner and the meat was cooked perfectly. Portion sizes are large. Great value for money.

First time in Leyburn, lovely evening and lots of people eating. We tried to get into a pub but was very busy and couldn’t guarantee being able to take an order. This turned into very good news for us. We decided to try the Saffron just across the square from the pub. We were stunned by the great choice of fish dishes on offer. The best anywhere for a very long time……. We were touring the area but actually come from north Devon so eating fish isn’t unusual. We weren’t disappointed with any of the 4 dishes we had. Shame we weren’t staying longer but this will be remembered and noted for the next time we are in the area. We might even make it a reason to come back!

First time visiting since the new owners took over,all I can say is wow,if you haven’t visited yet,do it,the food was fantastic,the staff were great,we were both had a starter (chicken liver) that was worthy of being a main course,by the time we’d eaten that we knew doggy bags were inevitable,the main course was delicious and I’m looking forward to mine later on

Called in today for a takeaway, staff very friendly and helpful. Ordered and then went across road to Golden Lion for a drink. Returned in 30 minuets and all was ready for collection. Back at the caravan was delighted with what we had ordered. Thank you Saffron for a very enjoyable meal.
