The café is situated on the second floor of Lewis and Cooper store and is a hidden Gem. My wife and I often eat there and it deserves some praise. The staff are always helpful and polite. there is usually a choice of seating area and we choose near the window overlooking Northallerton's High street. The English breakfast is delicious and the sausages and bacon are supplied by the butchers at Masham on the Yorkshire dales. Specialist scones are made on the premises and are definitely worth trying. The staff are great, very polite and attentive.

We have visited The Angel many times but today was our first visit for Sunday lunch. Wow - what a fabulous experience, the food was superb and the service was first class. Could not fault it in anyway and definitely on a par with some of the local 5* establishments.

Just can't fault this place: - Superb food. I had a beef and potato curry with bhaji topped with yoghurt while my daughter opted for the wagyu burger. Plenty of choice of substantial mains @ £16-17 or lighter dishes. - Swift service. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated which made me wonder if the food would be ages but it was served within 15 mins. There was a queue all the time we were there (midweek lunch in February!) but no-one seemed to wait long. - Pleasant ambience. Staff wearing logo-ed brown aprons sums up the classy vibe. - Excellent adjoining shop from which you can buy your tea or meal for the next day. Could call by on a journey home on the A19 (a stone's throw away) for a quick eat when you get back. All in all, a definite contender for meal of the year. Tip: get there early if you don't want to wait at all. Also note that unusually the kitchen is closed on Sunday.

Booked an evening meal while visiting the area. The food was lovely and well presented. Staff attentive. Only gripe I had my steak was overcooked. I ordered rare but there wasn’t any pink in there at all. Only consolation was it was tasty and thankfully not tough. We had finished our meal before anyone asked if everything was ok. The server did say she wished we had alerted her as she would have sorted it and I believe she would have. Had the steak been rubbish I would’ve complained but feel it would have been unjustified. We will return when we are next in the area as the food was generally top notch with good portions.

We had a lovely meal and Sunday lunch here and they were both excellent! The food was to a high standard and the staff were all warm and friendly. We stayed in our motorhome on the pubs site which was also great! The pub is handy for the park and ride into York. A highly recommended 5*****

Attended through work as part of a management day. When we arrived there were croissants and pain au chocolate which were yummy. We also got a 3 course Christmas dinner. Parsnip soup - lovely. I had turkey for mains. It came with sprouts, stuffing, roast potatoes and parsnips. One thing I didn't like was that the gravy was already on the meal. I like to add my own gravy. Desert was chocolate and orange tart which I didn't enjoy as the chocolate was very dark and bitter - but that's a personal taste. Overall enjoyed the meal and the day.

What a delightful little tearoom. Me and Mum walked in and were greeted with smiles and such a warm, happy welcome. We were led through the gift shop to a beautiful tearoom which had a gorgeous selection of gifts and also some very tasty jams and spreads to buy! ( to which we purchased before we left). Service was excellent and wow the cheese scones were warm and so yummy. Perfect for a little brunch. Would highly recommend. Would definitely book as its does get busy. Also the tea rooms have outside seating front and back in a lovely little courtyard. Definitely will be back. Thank you so much.

Visited as a couple 7 March. We were staying in the hotel. Ambience was good. The eating area could perhaps do with a bit of updating but it is fine. Menu is a mix of pub classics and more adventurous dishes. I had one of the latter as a starter, Lamb Tagine Roll with harissa mayo and smoked aubergine purée. Very good. The roll had chunks of lamb and the mayo had a kick. Tasted and presented very well. I had steak and ale pie for main. Appeared home made with real chips. Again very good Mrs W had the pork belly which she enjoyed too. We had a very nice bottle of NZ Sav Blanc as well. Very good value.

What a wonderful time we had! Purchasing tickets was straightforward and easy, and we came for the evening events. It was a great experience choosing your own Pumpkins in such a vast field or dunking into the crates. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a huge variety of pumpkins and gourds before! While it wasn’t overwhelmingly spooky for Halloween, it had the perfect autumnal feel, with the firepits and haybales, and the entertainment, especially the corn cannon, was great fun. We’ll be returning in 2025, for certain!

We visited here at the beginning of January after walking to find somewhere to eat on a cold Friday evening. The hotel was so festive both inside and out with a beautiful tree. We ordered our food and drinks at the bar and when they came we were pleasantly surprised. My little boy ordered a kids fish and chips, and it was a decent size with home made chips and mushy peas at only £4! My husband loved the fish cakes and our older son’s burger was huge with more homemade chips. The breakfast menu also looks lovely which we will try on our next visit.
