Very nice restaurant. Staff were lovely and menu choices were extensive. Great for dogs. Food was very tasty, huge portions and well priced. Great family dinner

Wanted a Sunday carvery so our parents could get the amount of food they needed as they get overfaced when served a large portion. We reserved a table on Sunday morning by phone and arrived around 10 mins early (its hit and miss as to how long it takes my mum to get sorted). The pub was bustling but very well orgnised with a lovely gentleman with a table plan greeting everyone as they entered. We were shown to our table and the ordering process was clearly explained. We ordered drinks and paid for food at the bar and went to get our carvery. When I advised that we'd probably do two runs so we could help my elderly parents, we were advised one of the waiting team would help and sure enough they did. The young lady was fabulous - friendly, fun and spoke directly to mum asking her what she would like and how much - taking the plate back to the table after adding gravy. There was a choice of ham, turkey, beef and pork and also steak pie if you didn't fancy the sliced meat. The Yorkshire puds were huge and just as I like them. Veg was the firm side of al-dente which was fine for me, but parents aren't overly keen on "hard" veg. The waiting staff are excellent, knowing their roles and being managed perfectly. They are attentive without being over the top and making you feel rushed. The rhubarb meringue was beautiful. Sweet yet sharp rhubarb cut through the sweetness of the meringue and the heavier cream perfectly! We've eaten here a couple of times and have always had lovely food with fabulous service!

Poor portions and not very tasty ( £18 burger😮) Some of food greasy. Don't waste your money on pudding £8 for a poor size portion again.

Steak night at our local Pub was fantastic again. Really good food and drink and great value. We are so lucky to live so close to this gem. Thanks Dave and Christine and all of your staff who are wonderful

Avoid Caravan site. Awful service & attitude Utter choatic and awful management of caravan park. Rang ahead to confirm pitch. Put caravan (7.5m which they knew ) in pitch. Once in situ clear car wouldnt fit in pitch too. Electrics from piller point not working. Manager from bar said he`d call someone, but was vague about timescales.Said we couldnt change pitch as all booked. After 90 mins with the other manager arrived. Suggested we should put our hook up wire across road... he eventually hooked us up to next pitch,and they to next etc.. thus disconecting reconnecting 4 vans in situ... I went to go for a shower at 6pm after all the delays.. No hot water!!! Go to see manager in situ, who cant help. He says manager 2 will come and se me at 9.00 am next day. Manager 2 turns up st 9.30am...and says water is working fine now. But I wanted a shower night before?? I ran through the various issues... he said he'd refund one day....IF WE LEFT! UNBELIEVEABLE THERE ARE LOADS BETTER BETTER SITES, park and ride from all corners of York. We wont be returning .

I’ve read some of the recent quite negative reviews and can only say that this doesn’t reflect my experience this week. I stayed on the adjoining touring site with my wife for two nights and visited the pub on both nights. The first was just a quick drink in the excellent beer garden and the second night was the weekly “steak night”, where we dined on one of the best meals I’ve had for some time and at excellent value. I couldn’t fault any of the staff, some of whom have previously received less than positive reviews, which in my experience appear unfounded. We will definitely be visiting again.

After many different visits and spending money in the pub very often. I feel very angry and annoyed after today visits. After sitting in the beer garden, for a few hours. We asked if we could have a bowl of the roast potatoes. We knew they stopped at 3 pm we asked if we can get the bowl about 2:45 we asked three different bar staff. We was more then happy to pay WHATEVER price they wanted us to pay. All three staff came back to say the manager declines us buying them and said he wouldn’t let it. You could tell the staff was very embarrassed. The general manager is very rude. We then saw them taking a lot of food back into the kitchen at 3pm and saw it just went into the bin. I cannot get my head around the fact we was spending money from 1pm to 5pm and they wouldn’t let us have a bowl of potato which then was wasted into the bin. Feel very let down.

Staff are very rude and need to lighten up. Do not make customers feel welcome at all. Do not recommend. Horrible horrible owners

Booked here for a Sunday lunch. Upon arrival with my sunflower lanyard visible, I was immediately greeted with “mask” I said I had my lanyard on as I was medically exempt. My partner was wearing a mask, I explained to the very very rude “manager” that I was exempt medically and that means I don’t have to wear one, for medical reasons I do not need to explain!! He said he can make the rules up as he pleases and refused to let me in. I was so humiliated and mortified!! I certainly understand that there is a pandemic right now, but I am a pub manager myself and we certainly are NOT allowed to make our own rules up or make anyone feel ashamed for not wearing a mask!! Nor is it a legal requirement if medically exempt?? He explained his reasoning as someone could cough over my table and I could catch COVID!! I wouldn’t be wearing it at my table anyway?? Makes no sense whatsoever. In a time that is already very stressful and difficult, why make it any harder then it needs to be?

We were staying at the adjoining site which is fabulous.Booking was very straight forward. Safety measures were very good with measures such as tracking, social distancing, 1 way system and all staff had masks. Loved the fact that cutlery was individually vacuum packed.Menu is slightly limited in these strange times. Food was lovely. Portions were large. We had mains and desserts. My sticky toffee pudding was the best I have ever had.Prices are what you expect.Service was extremely efficient. There was a very special waitress who was total outstanding. Sorry we didn't get her name, little lady with bubbly personality.

Visité aquí el último viernes por la noche en agosto y el lugar estaba extremadamente ruidoso y lleno.Tenía el 'Mushroom + Brie Wellington' con espinacas, bayas de verano y patatas nuevas con mantequilla y menta.La comida estuvo bien en general, pero había demasiada mantequilla, por lo que estaba bastante grasosa. Si pones una hamburguesa Falafal en el menú, con los símbolos (v) (ve) al lado, esperaría que al menos venga con un bollo cuando se solicite vegana (ve) en lugar de vegetariana (v).El pan es vegano y se conserva muy bien cuando está congelado. Así que sírvalo en un bollo brioche a las verduras, pero la lógica simple seguramente indicaría que tan pronto como coloque ese (ve) símbolo junto a una hamburguesa, debería venir en un bollo como mínimo, no , en cambio, como una Pattie de falafel sobre una cama de ensalada.Esta es sin duda una lógica de sentido común para un establecimiento profesional. Puede hacer que cualquier comida sea vegana quitando los elementos básicos, pero una hamburguesa, por definición, consiste en una Pattie entre dos piezas de pan. There is a lady that works here, quite short with blonde hair, I think her name was Gillian. I just want to say she was amazing and was ever so polite.

Was in the Lysander Wednesday night , and the man who I assume is supposed to be the manager was extremely rude , his name was Paul as I recall! We was at the bar clearing our glasses onto the side to save the bar people or waiters having to come to the table and he snapped at us to move down the bar out the way even though we had glasses in our hand. Also heard him speaking to his colleagues very rudely and unprofessional instead of respecting them doing there job role and acknowledging the effort they put in towards customers!

Fuimos a Lysander para tomar el té, era la noche de la pizza y conseguimos una mesa en el jardín.Lugar realmente agradable, buenas medidas de distanciamiento social en su lugar. Teníamos un par de pizzas que se quemaron las bases pero pronto se rectificaronLas pizzas estaban muy ricas. Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera.

Después de ver constantemente este lugar anunciado en Facebook. finalmente pudimos probarlo. Es una pena que haya tardado tanto. Puedo entender completamente por qué es tan recomendable.El aparcamiento estaba muy ocupado (lo cual siempre es una buena señal) a pesar de estar muy ocupado, nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos desde el momento en que entramos por lo que parecía ser el gerente, quien nos mostró sin demora nuestro asiento en un encantador restaurante decorado y nos explicó el proceso de asado.Había una buena selección de carnes y pasteles, que era una buena alternativa. Todos los pudines y verduras de Yorkshire eran caseros y todo estaba delicioso.En general, encantador personal acogedor y hermosa comida.Nos fuimos después de haber reservado una mesa para el próximo domingo para traer a nuestros padres con nosotros.

Rubbish customer service, booked 70th party for 20 only to be told no booking, basically told there was nothing they could do, nothing offered...don't book a party there.... toss of a coin when you get there

Over the last 10 years we have been to the lysander on a regular basis, celebrating birthdays, Mother’s Day and just a general Sunday ! We always put up with Paul being a miserable sod and the old bag behind the bar being curt but today was absolute disgusting! I called the lynsander on the 11th of Feb at 18.12 to book a table for 20 for my 70th mums birthday, a young man asked if I wanted the bar or the restaurant, I told him I had spoken to paul and he suggested the bar bit of the restaurant for that number Of people ! He asked me to hold while he double checked with some one .. came back no problems , took my number and name and said it was all booked !My brother in law arrived early today to put someBalloons in the area and they said they had no reservation?? After a panicked phone call with my brother in law I called the bar and spoke to paul who was so rude .... I mean to an extreme! No offer of an apology?No offer of anything at all ! I had been in the restaurant the Sunday before there was 10 of us we are literally in all the time and the blatant disregard for the fact 20 people were travelling from all over Yorkshire to celebrate my mums 70th birthday.He kept saying nothing we can do we live and die by our diary! I have the record of the phoneCall on my phone, I told him a young man has booked it he said only Oliver could have been working and he’s not a young man he’s 20/21 ??!?!! I’m 40 years old 20/21 is young to me ? I asked could we maybe come later and try fit in after the last sitting to which he wouldn’t even entertain... I asked if we could maybe sit in the gazebo in the garden which apparently is full of Christmas decorations no one has bothered to store anywhere ! Paul didn’t even offer an apology for a lapse in someone’s attention, one of his team members which that meant it wasn’t put in the diary and it ruined my mums 70th birthday ! We have always been respected by Dave and the lovely chef! They treated us like family and that’s why we always brought our family to celebrate there !Well never again ! You’ve lost a loyal customer who put up with the miserable women and the nasty little man paul to enjoy the great food ! But sorry never ever again don’t bother wasting your precious family time

Tuve una comida absolutamente fantástica esta noche, noche de carne.Los alrededores eran de primera clase, la comida aún mejor, era preciosa. Staying for 2 nights in caravan at this pub. Beautiful little spot and went in for early dinner. I had fish and chips mushy peas and it was the lightest battered fish very nice. My hubby had steak pie veg and chips and said it was one the best pies he had ever had..bursting with meat and a good size with pastry top of puff pastry but not the silly flimsy mo taste pastry. We both finished with sticky toffee pudding homemade and it is the best we have had ..so light and fluffy.the pub is gorgeous and the staff so friendly and welcoming the girls waiting the tables a credit. I wish we could stay longer. The gardens in summer must be a pleasurable way to spend a sunny afternoon. I hope we get chance to sample this sometime. Apparently Sunday carvery is one to try alas we leave before then.Well done Lysander

We’re not local but ate here on Wednesday with some of our family who live nearby. We don’t eat meat but chose the haddock chips & mushy peas, it was wonderful. We’ve recently had fish & chips in Cornwall and despite being locally sourced etc, the Lysander’s was vastly superior! Big piece of fish, curly crisp batter and the fish was so fresh and glistening it made you smile! 10 out of 10.

Visited recently for 3 nights on the attached campsite in our motorhome. Site is well laid out with clean facilities and excellent hot powerful shower. Each pitch having its own EHC together with fresh water and waste facilities.We eat in the Lysander Arms twice during our visit, with both meals being very tasty and fantastic value. The steak night special on Wednesday and the fish & chips Friday.Highly recommend both the campsite and the food in the restaurant.

Lunchtime visit for 4 during the week. Friendly, attentive welcome and given choice of seats in this Bistro type restaurant. Good, varied menu and lovely meal with an extremely friendly, knowledgeable waitress who was always nearby without being intrusive.

We booked a table on a busy Sunday. We were greeted with scorn by the lady behind the bar and not much better by the manager. We were made to feel unwelcome and like we were inconveniencing them. The staff were obviously stressed and overwhelmed.

Visited here for a family birthday. Excellent Sunday lunch. Good quality meat, plenty of veg to choose from. Though it was busy the service was excellent. Definitely recommend a visit

Stayed on the caravan park for 3 days and used the pub every night. Food in both the bar and the restaurant was ample and delicious and reasonably priced. There’s entertainment on during the week (see the what’s on) Sky sports & quiz night. The beer garden is beautifully groomed as is the whole site around the pub and caravan park. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful

My sister and I stayed on the campsite for 3 nights and ate in the pub on the Wednesday night. We chose the special, which was two fillet steaks with chips, two sides (choice of four) and a bottle of wine (plenty of choice) for £35... I’d fully recommend it. The staff are very friendly and chatty.

Had Friday lunch beautiful food you can’t fault it I had fish butty and proper chips the wife had burger it was perfect I recommend to anyone.

Found the Lysander Arms by googling somewhere convenient to meet family travelling from different directions around York. This place is like a hidden gem around a housing area, not what we expected but really nice!

I wanted to book for 6 for Sunday lunch. I called 3 times, no answer. I used the booking form on the website, still no answer. With all the options available in York, they certainly won't get a second chance.

Went for lunch with work – 10 of us, we only called in about 30 minutes before but they still managed to cater for us. Warm welcome, choice of where we sat due to the space free. Lovely warm day to sit in the garden- which is one of the nicest beer gardens I have been too (and IV been to a lot!) Everyone got a drink fast, all sat down and food came out prompt (we pre ordered so it would come ASAP as we were due back at work). Everyone ordered something different yet all the food came out at once, hot and looking and smelling amazing. I had the bean pie- which was amazing. Everyone had lovely food, good portion sizes and very well presented. Mark was the chef that day (we were told)- Hats off to him. Staff were so friendly, so kind and happy to help us and serve us. Would defiantly recommend for any occasion- indoors or outdoors, I was sad we didn’t get to sit inside as it looked just as nice, but I can’t be in two places at once! I shall be going back with my dog (as I hear Fury friends are welcome!) to try the indoor comfy seating.

Este pub gastronómico ofrece una buena selección de cervezas, cervezas y sidras. La comida era muy buena, con una buena selección en el menú, y un montón de comida en el plato. También debe mencionar lo agradable que fue todo el personal, siempre sonriendo y con un excelente servicio, bien hecho. El único inconveniente es que es un poco difícil de encontrar, una carretera muy estrecha con una ubicación tranquila, para mí eso fue una ventaja.

Visité lysander una hora del té, ya estaba ocupado, nos las arreglamos para conseguir una mesa. El bar tiene una excelente selección de ginebras para los amantes de la ginebra. Pedimos la oferta de carne 30. 2 filetes con papas fritas cualquiera de 2 lados y una botella de vino. Los filetes cocinados a la perfección y los lados muy sabroso.

I booked for 24 for a celebration on a Sunday and I was worried re the logistics, no need to worry confident and excellent throughout. It was a lovely celebration, the management and waiting staff were excellent, couldn’t fault anything. So impressed well done and thank you

We have eaten here previously but just met for a couple of pints on a very hot, sunny day. We sat in the beer garden which is really lovely and well kept - as it was a Monday lunchtime, it was quiet and very peaceful.

Came to watch the football on what was a very busy Sunday afternoon, Gillian went over and above her role to ensure good service and to top it off Man City win the league. Thank you Paul for employing such a dedicated member of the Rawcliffe community . Will definitely be back xx

What can I say after a hard day at work we called in for a couple of pints and I can't recommend this place enough. The two ladies behind the bar were very efficient and like a comedy duo! A pair of gems (ones a midget gem)

We arrived at lunchtime on Wed 1st May, in beautiful sunshine, so decided to have lunch in the beer garden. We got chatting to Gill behind the bar, who was a fantastic ambassador for the Lysander Arms. Very engaging, very helpful, and very thoughtful. We had only been sitting outside for a short while, when someone began cutting hedges with VERY noisy machinery. She asked them to stop whilst we ate lunch, brought extra drinks out, and was generally VERY attentive. What could have been a disappointing and irritating experience, became thoroughly enjoyable, based largely on the attitude of Gill. Exceptional customer service - thank you

Visited as a family for a birthday lunch . Booked beforehand to ensure we got a seat. Purchased drinks at the bar then were shown to our seats . Great choice of meats , vegetables and huge Yorkshire puddings . Lashings of gravy to top it off . Food was lovely and hot . Deserts were available if required but we were all full. Would definitely recommend this carvery

From Hull so not familiar with local eateries, last week on a recommendation we found a rather mediocre pub.

Have called here several times usually with family, the food is predictably good. It is usually very busy at peak times.

Had the Sunday carvery, which was hearty and tasty. The chef kindly offered a slice of each of beef (nicely pink in the centre), Turkey, pork and gammon. Help yourself to trimmings and sauces/gravy.

Great food, great choice, well served. Only down side is that they only have one draught beer - and rather naff one at that!

Así que estuve en York en un viaje de trabajo y me encontré con el Lysander cuando caminaba por la zona. Así que me aventuré a ser recibido por un joven de jengibre llamado Myles. Fue un servidor fabuloso y es un buen ejemplo de la generación joven. Él me ayudó con mis requisitos de asientos sin causar problemas y fue cortés en todo.

Visité para el almuerzo del domingo recientemente. No me impresionó en absoluto. Fue un carvery. La articulación de pavo se dejó caer en la tabla del piso que se recuperó y me sirvió. El "chef" extrañó el plato de mi esposa con su selección de carne y la recogió y le sirvió. Fue una pelea de bollo para ser servido. No podía decidir si nuestra mesa estaba siendo atendida o no. La camarera limpió nuestros platos de la cena, pero tuvimos que ir a buscarla para pedir postres.

Una visita a la hora del almuerzo después de las compras Ha pasado muchos años desde la última vez que visitamos y encontramos una transformación encantadora. Habríamos optado por la oferta de Wednesday Steak, pero nos decepcionó descubrir que solo estaba disponible por la noche.

Visité con la familia para una noche de bistec un miércoles. Servicio eficiente y encantador de Gemma, buena comida sólida y disfrutada por todos. Excelente relación calidad-precio. La única advertencia es que los platos de acompañamiento son más que suficientes, por lo que si no te gusta dejar los alimentos, no pidas demasiados. We came here for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We pre ordered our food several days before as we were a big group. It all arrived with minutes of each other. Every dish superbly cooked. I've been here on Wed steak night, beautiful steak. Fishy Friday was brilliant, I hope they bring it back soon. We went to watch all the football World Cup matches and they did gorgeous BBQ food. I've arranged a party of work friends to meet up soon to eat here as I know we will be well looked after by the professional staff.

Walking up to The Lysander we commented that we hadn’t been there for probably a year. Even though we are local, somehow we’ve never felt part of the in-crowd there as it had always been a bit cliquey but we were keen to give it another go. We arrived, bought drinks at the bar and then wandered into the restaurant area at 1835 hrs and spoke to the Restaurant Manager to ask whether we could book a table to eat in there for 7pm. He responded curtly by saying “no definitely not at 7”. No apology or explanation just a definite no. So after a second or two we then asked “well what about later?” This then prompted him to look at his paper-based booking list and he said “well maybe at 7.45 or possibly 7.30”. “Great” we said “7.30 is good for us, we’ll just have an extra drink outside in the garden before we come back.” The Manager asked for our name, wrote it on his booking list and we then sat outside in the lovely garden. We then had a further drink inside the pub before approaching the Restaurant Manager again at 7.35pm. However even though he had our name on his booking list and a time of 7.45pm next to it (admittedly we had thought we had agreed 7.30 but 15 mins difference didn’t matter to us), he promptly said that we would have to find a table in the main pub area (which incidentally was very busy) and a table which didn’t already have a ‘reserved’ sign on it. A little non-plussed I said that we thought we would be eating in the restaurant.. he replied that it wasn’t possible as other diners hadn’t finished. We hadn’t realised that any potential booking was dependent on other diners finishing. There were other vacant tables in the restaurant but presumably they had previously been reserved for later in the evening). He reiterated brusquely that we needed to find a vacant table in the pub. (He clearly wasn’t going to assist us in this and didn’t even give us a menu).

My second time eating here. My first visit I had a VIP burger and it was delicious. Friday’s visit saw me with a bitter tasting VIP burger that was burnt from the char grilling. I sent the burger back, the Manager took it away and returned about 5 mins later. My friend also had the VIP burger and the Managers approach was that my friends burger was cooked at exactly the same time as mine (implying it was me that was at fault) so did I want to choose something else off the menu? I said not really, that burger was burnt, my friends isn’t. I’d like another VIP burger please. So this was successfully done and I received another burger which was nice. It was boiling in there and one of the waitresses opened the fire exit door. My friends finished eating before I did and our only smoker friend went out of the fire door to have a cigarette. She walked up to the front of the building but the smoke from her cigarette wafted into the eating area. Not nice. The Manager cane over, slammed the door shut and said ‘you can’t smell that up at table 1’ He was cross and scolding us like children. This is very strange behaviour. All in all a great pub! Food was excellent and the beer garden is amazing! They had the football on the big screen and after that a singer on the stage. Although to be fair the singer was not too good.

We were treated very badly by the manager Paul & this is not the first time. He is never very accommodating & on this occasion I had gone in to make arrangements for a larger party. When a Manager tells you he does not care how he treats you & if you would like to put a bad review on social media “Be my guest” we are so popular I could not give a dame! He even said he could give us the owners email that is how much he cares about our business. He took half our party’s food order & then refused the rest! My father in law was served a crab cake from a box & another dish that was also pre made. My daughter kiddies meal was inedible! The burgers are good but that’s about it! We left to have dinner at the White Horse in Poppleton which was outstanding & the service was brilliant! The owners of the Lysander should send Paul across for some correct training! We won’t be supporting our local from now on...rather drive to another pub!

Nos alojamos en el caravan park en brazos/turismo Lysander durante el fin de semana festivo y realmente me gustó. Es sólo un pequeño (creo que tarda unos 10 caravanas/casas rodantes). Magníficas instalaciones y sólo para adultos. Bonito paseo en bicicleta de 2 milla al lado del río Ouse en York. El pub es muy agradable y aunque no comimos allí, he oído que la comida es estupenda.

Good setting for kids but the food was awful. It was a Tuesday lunchtime but could not believe what they served. Its a pity as it could be made nice.

Spot on carvery. You will need to book as its very busy which speaks volumes. Pleasant decore inside. Maybe recently refurbished. Car park available

We booked here on a recommendation, never to be regretted the steak deal was great. Kids menu and sweets wonderful. Place was pretty busy, there is a secure children's area and staff were very friendly. Will be back.

After looking at the menu I decided upon the chicken and bacon with corn on the cob,but it said chips. I'm not a big chip fan so asked if I could have vegetables instead. Of course he said. And what lovely vegetables they were. My husband had the fish chips and curry sauce. Said the fish was very tender. Another wonderful meal here.

We popped in whilst at the Clifton Moor retail park (it’s very close to the B&Q; end, you can walk via a pedestrianised pathway in under 5 minutes if you want to avoid taking the ring road around).

Stayed on the small touring site that accompanys the pub. Warm cheerful pub with plenty of drink selections especially Gin! Biggest surprise was the food in the restaurant. While not been the cheapest it was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Quiz night on a Thursday and Steak night on Wednesdays.

Booked a table for Wednesday steak night. £30 2 beautifully cooked rump steaks, 2 sides, choice of either mushrooms,onion rings,fresh cooked veg or salad served with fries ,sauce and a bottle of either red, white or rose wine to share. Superb value for money. Lovely birthday treat.

Eaten here twice, first occasion last October when visiting Monks Cross shopping area and wanting home cooked food without venturing into York itself, found this family pub on TripAdvisor not too far away. Average size parking area to the pub which in our first visit...

Un pub restaurante muy bien equipado, no estaba demasiado ocupado y había reservado mesa. Nos metimos al final del comedor, que estaba bien, ya que tenía al bebé. parque buggy El servicio era excelente, supongo que el director y su asistente. Se sirven bebidas primero y luego las comidas que vinieron todos juntos. Un ambiente muy agradable como el se colocan a los bebés no había visto por algún tiempo. La comida fue de lo más agradable y puedo recomendar los becerros que era hígado suculentos. y sin duda llamar quizás en el verano, ya que tienen una zona maravillosa para comer y beber al aire libre

I visited Lysander Arms yesterday with my wife and son after we had stayed on the touring park. Both pub and site were great.

An excellent meal and lovely staff made my Grandma's 90th birthday celebration just perfect. Thank you to all!

Just visited the lysander for the steak night ,a bottle of wine 2 steaks and frys pepper corn sauce and a choice of two sides BEAUTIFUL., and then we had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, winter crumble with rhubarb ice cream and vanilla custard OMG we will definitely be going back. The staff are so nice and welcoming, the place its self is so lovely and the food exellent. .

Best carvery I have had in York. Booking is probably essential and there is two options 12 or 1.30. It does get busy, long queues at the carvery but food is so worth it.

Noche - 2 filetes de carne y una botella de vino. Gran relación calidad-precio y las mejores carnes que he probado en mucho tiempo. Sin duda merece la pena una visita.

Alojarse en el camping para el fin de semana y decidimos comer en el pub el sábado por la noche. Pedir bebidas y abrió una ficha y sólo me dijeron que no podía pedir comida hasta primeros de 2015. Eso fue 40 minutos. No es un problema con el tiempo como el pub estaba lleno. ¿Por qué no puedo pedir comida en el entendimiento de que será de 45 a 60 minutos hasta que sirve? En vez de tener que esperar 30 minutos para pedir. Si quieres conducir clientes cómo hacerlo. En 2015, pedí si habían dicho que no podría haber pedido entonces a la izquierda. Su pérdida. El camping fue excelente por cierto, y el director Paul muy servicial.

Vine aquí por recomendación de la hija de un amigo. Animado bar al entrar con una zona de restaurante en la parte trasera. Decoración muy agradable y buen ambiente. La comida era deliciosa. Piedra Bass era increíble bien presentada y deliciosa, torta de carne y servido con patatas fritas y tanto las verduras fueron un lujo. Gran variedad de postres, malacostumbrados instalados para brownies cálido con helado y delicioso posset tanto.

Despite this been one of our favourite places to come for Sunday lunch, Since moving out of York we haven't been for a while.I had heard through the grape vine that they had a new chef and so after finally sitting down to eat our long awaited Sunday lunch on 13/8/17 i was praying the food was as good as it always has been, it wasn'tIT WAS BETTER something i didn't think was possible. both me and the wife chose the beef which was tender and the large selection of veg was cooked to perfection, and of course a good old homemade Yorkshire pud.Hats off to the new chef, by far the best Sunday lunch i have had a for a very long time.

Trailed across town in heavy traffic with a baby in tow, taking 45 minutes to get there only to be told that the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays, contrary to the website, very disappointing.

I often meet friends here for lunch the staff are friendly and the food us lovely. There is a good choice of sandwiches all are served with salad and chips. One Sunday there were 11 of us for the Sunday lunch carvery and it was just lovely. Despite being really busy there was plenty of choice everything was cooked well and we were made to feel like we were the only ones that by the staff. Would recommend a visit either for lunch during the week where you can sit outside on the covered deck area or on the seats on the lawned area. It's also great for the kids as they have a great play are.

We had a table reserved for around 14 of my family members. This included 2 children and 2 babies. There were no highchairs at the table despite asking when we booked and the rather rude manager stated that the restaurant had a no highchairs policy on a Sunday. We have twin babies!!!! We ignored this anyway and kept the highchair with us.We had the Sunday carvery and the food was beautiful. However, after being there an over an hour and just deciding on puddings, we were told we had to leave in 25 mins as we had gone over the time for a standard sitting. We ordered deserts and ate them for the staff to bring over the bill without us asking. Real shame. The food was beautiful but the manager's attitude was disgusting. Won't be returning. Not family friendly at all!!!

Lovley pub/restaurant/caravan site , decor very nice, very roomy and smashing outdoor area for adults and a play area for the children. When we went there was a motown singer on who was very good, if you were sitting in the garden or further away from him. Iv been to rock concerts that were quieter than this !! Theres no need to have such a high volume level, when you cant hear the person next to you then its far too loud. . Put us off ~ sorry !

I booked a Sunday lunch for ten members of my family to celebrate my mum's 90th birthday. I have been there lots of times before with friends but it was definitely the best idea I've ever had. The food was excellent and the service first class as always. We were placed out of the usual Sunday diner area and enjoyed a really special time. When I arrived back at home with a tired Mum she said what a lovely time and how she felt like she was treated like a Queen. What more could we ask?

We visited here on Fathers day with our family. Admittedly we were a little worried as we hadn't eaten here before and had chosen this place for all of the family.On reflection we shouldn't of been worried in the slightest.We were greeted by the very friendly and welcoming manager who welcomed us to the restaurant, showed us to our seats and explained the process of the carvery to us. He even took the time to have a little chat with our young son who was upset when we entered.We ordered our drinks and were served by a very friendly older lady, who despite been busy at the bar, was effeciant and chatty, again making us feel very welcome.There was a large selection of meats, and veg. It all tasted fresh and was delicious. The whole family were impressed. Unfortunatly we didn't have room for deserts.It was lovely to see that although the place was busy, the staff were chatty and welcoming to all the customers and didn't make us feel rushed.My only potential criticism would be that after looking at the main menu whilst there, the prices for evening meals looked a little pricey, however i have not tried these dishes and they may well be worth the money.we have certainly found our new Sunday carvery local.

Well, what a shame! Been here several times in the past and things were fine. But today the manager managed to ruin our Father's Day lunch. My daughter had booked a table in the restaurant but had initially asked if she could book one outside. She was told that wasn't possible and we could sit outside if one was available. On arrival, it was clear that there was no space for my granddaughter's pram where our 'inside' table was so we asked if we could sit outside. He said no as the outside seating was for adults only. It was completely empty. On pointing this out, he said, they were all booked anyway. Hang on we said: you told us no one could book a table outside. He said he had declined our booking for an outside table because of the baby! That was total BS because my daughter never mentioned the baby when making the booking. Any way, he refused to let us sit outside and showed us to a table in the bar. The bar was crowded, hot, and noisy. People were playing snooker nearby and there was a huge crowd waiting to be served at the bar. It then transpired that the only food was a Sunday lunch buffet as it was Father's day and the usual menu was 'off" . We decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. I found the manager totally unhelpful and rather rude. As I said, it was a shame as the food in the past has been good and the chef knows his job. But the manager needs to rethink his approach!

Can't fault this place. Carvery was great, staff friendly and helpful. Been previously to watch sports as they have loads of screens and had a great time then to. Can't fault the place!

We love eating here and have done Sunday Carvery, evening meals, family gatherings etc, and we're never disappointed. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing (if a little pricey for a local community pub). The only grumble I have is the Front of House Manager - his manner can be brusque and comes across as rude. He is the face of the pub and his manner/interaction with the public needs to be addressed. It doesn't put me off returning as the food and atmosphere is always pleasant.
