Website says offers takeaway: no menu can be found online (so we ordered what we assumed they'd have) and they don't offer delivery. What was reslly disappointing is you could only pay with cash- they did not inform us of this on the phone when ordering, so we had to go to the nearest cash point (3 miles away). The food was fine, but a bit more information online would have led to a much better experience.

The first and last time I will ever go. Utterly disappointed with the food, the lack of respect and the atmosphere here was atrocious. Number one, the food was cold, I ordered a butter chicken and it was very watery. Number two, when going to get the bill, I was greeted with anger and rudeness which I received from who I assume is the owner. I wouldn’t go there again and personally you could find a better curry in your local iceland freezer.

Not only the worst Indian meal we’ve ever had but the worst food!! The pickle tray wasn’t very appetising at all. We asked if the chicken was cooked fresh meaning not pre cooked as it can sometimes be dry. We were told yes it was but it certainly wasn’t as it was very dry and obviously pre cooked. The “chef” appeared at our table halfway through the meal to ask if it was “cooked fresh enough” for us but his sarcasm and attitude wasn’t lost on us and he had a bad attitude as he never asked any other table if the food was ok so a snide retort. The rice was awful too, we’ve never had cauliflower in vegetable pilau rice. The masala sauce was like watered down ketchup and the lamb rogan josh was as tough as leather and the sauce was just awful. Awful food and so unappealing

My wife and I had an amazing meal at this restaurant whilst staying in a holiday cottage nearby. The quality of the service and the food were both excellent. We went on a Monday night and were the only people there, which is normally a bad sign for a restaurant but we should not have been worried as we had a great meal. Also we found that the drink prices were very reasonable. We would highly recommend this place and would not hesitate to go again if we were in the area.

Shame I couldn’t give it 0 stars! …or minus10 Absolute joke of a place. Went on a Sunday night, when we arrived the ‘owner’, who was sat at the bar with a pint and pack of fags looked at us as if we had already caused her an inconvenience… we should have left at this point…sadly we didn’t. Ordered drink a pint of kingfisher and a Diet Coke, they had neither. Ordered food - which arrived fairly quick, Butter chicken looked and tasted like Tomato soup with some added coconut cream, rice looked as if it had been cooked at least twice. Frankly the food is terrible and bears no resemblance to Indian food. The others had similarly terrible dishes. The waiter then seemed to disappear altogether, we asked the owner for the bill, she didn’t get up from her pint, at which point the “chef” appeared …. Omg the scruffiest, dirty looking man I have seen for a long time… he gave us the bill, we offered a card to pay, we were then informed it was cash only. Now bear in mind this place is in a village with the closest cash machine in the next town 7 miles away, you would have though this would have been communicated earlier. We had no cash.. the “chef” said he would take a bank transfer and then disappear upstairs and came back with his personal bank card and give it to us to use his details to make the transfer…. A truly bizarre experience. If you are looking for total unprofessionalism, possible the worst food in Yorkshire, zero service and a day on loo after this is your place!

My husband and I went here for a meal for the 1st time tonight. The restaurant heating had broken and we were not informed on booking, it was quite cold. We stayed as already there and hoped for more bodies to arrive to warm the place up. Thankfully that happened. We found the food was very nice, sadly the customer service friendliness was seriously lacking. After eating, I told the waitress I wanted to take home my left over food (which was half the original portion) plus the 3/4 of naan that was left over. She brought me a bag with just the naan. I asked where the rest of my food was, she just apologised... Basically they'd thrown it!! We waited half an hour for the bill to then be told cash only... No signs anywhere and we weren't informed on booking!!! My husband had to leave me sat alone at our table for a further 25 minutes while he drove 8 miles (there and back) to the nearest cash machine/shop to get cash. I had intended to leave a good review based on the food but after our overall experience and no reduction on the bill, after throwing half my food... We'll never go again and will advise others of our poor experience there!

We visited this restaurant one evening on a spur of the moment thing. Unfortunately they do not have any dark fruits cider and when looking at the menu and asking about some of the items on the menu we were told they had no prawns. We ordered the food and the service was good. The food was good, Nan bread did not have as much flavour as we had expected. Only issue was it is CASH ONLY but we were not told and only happened to find out by overhearing another table trying to pay by card - Think they should clearly advertise this to customers as we had no cash and had to drive to Easingwold to get cash to pay for the meal.

I have tried many Indian restaurants throughout the UK over the last 25 years, some of them classed as the best in the UK but I can safely say this has been the best tasting Indian food I’ve had. Seems to be locally sourced ingredients (and it shows). The staff are very friendly (and accommodating to individual requirements and tastes) and the food arrived quickly. Having recently moved to the area we feel very lucky to be so close to this restaurant.

I have lived in this area for 12 years and had lots of Indian meals around the county but surprisingly never tried the one closest to me. We had been put off Indian food recently back in Feb when I had an awful meal from a takeaway in Easingwold where I had paid money for a curry which consisted of a tray of poorly spiced chopped onions with a couple of pieces of dubious meat.....put me off Indian food for 5 months. When I suggested to my wife that we should try Indian food again she was reluctant. I set off to Stillington to the Gulshan Tandori. On arrival I found the parking easy in a slot right outside the restaurant which faces onto the main road which goes through the village. When I went into the Gulshan I found it still had the feeling of your local Brit pub, very friendly and welcoming. The man took my order and poured me a beer whilst I waited for the food to be cooked. Business was brisk with several eating in the restaurant and people came past me to pick up their take aways. Everybody who entered the restaurant seemed to know the man behind the bar (I presumed to be the owner) which is always a good sign as repeat business is always a good advert for good food. My food arrived in good time. I told the man I only had a debit card, he said due to the torrential rain his wi if was playing up but not to worry because if he could not confirm payment I could drop the money of the following day. I couldn't believe my ears as I had never seen this guy before. After a little perseverance I managed to make payment. The food was excellent, meat samosa, lamb curry, chicken tikka and pilau. My faith is resumed in Indian cuisine. The price was very competitive also. Something that caught my eye on the menu was an early bird deal of starter, main course and coffee for £8.95. We will most probably be back this week to try that early bird! At that price it’s hardly worth cooking at home! Highly recommended.

On to the food , the food was good, although I thought my dish was a bit bland, but generally good. But the biggest disappointment was no desserts or coffee !! Wtf. May one suggest that management purchase a coffee making machine, and a few puddings , and the service was slow which is a little annoying.

At the end of the meal we asked for coffee only to be told that we couldn't have any because the person who made it wasn't there. We have used this restaurant about once a month for three or four years and to be honest we have not had a problem with the food. At the worst it's been very good but usually excellent , the place is clean and tidy and well presented , and the staff do a good job.Sadly however there is a problem around the bar area which is used by local drinkers and pick up for takeaways which is pretty normal and not usually a problem. However on three occasions there have 2or 3 drunk customers who have got excessively loud and with the bad language it has not been a pleasant experience. On Saturday it moved to a new level we had to sit through the F word and others at full volume for at least half hour.If the guy had been in a public area he would have been at risk of being arrested. Why the landlord didn't have a word to quieten him down beggars belief, guessing he was a customer they couldn't afford to upset. Our complaint was met with total indifference. Will we go back? Maybe but we certainly I'll not sit through that rubbish again. .

I presume the quite grumpy man who greeted us was the owner and I can only assume he had hoped for some "me time" when we arrived unnounced and expected to be fed. This was unforgivable on our part and the food we were given will ensure its a mistake we never make again. So let me set the scene. .. its a Wednesday night in October the fire is lit, the lights are on,the tables are set and the westlife cd is playing. All that is missing is a customer or two. Then lo! As if by magic two walk in having read the four and five star reviews. As luck would have it in the completely empty restaurant a table for two is found. Now you would expect the service to be out of this world seeing as staff outweigh customers at least 3:2 (I make the assumption that a chef is hidden away in the back...) wrong!! We waited to be asked what we would like to drink...and then we waited again for ages to be offered poppadoms. When a suitable gap in the Westlife cd allowed it our order was finally taken. It was clear the service was not going to improve so we hoped the food would make up for it.... how wrong we were! Poppadoms-ok Mango chutney- vinegary and very liquidy like it had been stretched by adding vinegarOnion bhajis- these tasted ok but were quite soggy Aloo gobi -bland with watery over cooked cauliflowerBombay aloo - blandVegetable biryiani - watery bland 'sauce' bland tasteless rice Naan -how can garlic naan taste as bland as this?!! My boyfriend had a chilli chicken dish that was the weirdest colour!I ate virtually nothing of my main course! When asked "how was your meal?" I pointed out the overcooked cauliflower. . And was told 'I won't charge you for that, how was the rest?' When I replied that to be totally honest my biryani was very bland. The same response came back!! In reality we were charged! This was obviously a local place for local people because whilst we were there a couple came in, were swiftly served, cooed praise over the epic meal and left happy!! Local we may not be, frequent visitors we in fact are so this appalling experience means that on our next visit we shall most definitely be finding another Indian!

Stumbled across this little takeaway house in Great ayton, lovely service from the front desk, in my option the food was expensive, considering typical restaurants such as Jolsha for the same meals ordered and with a sit in clean accommodation is about £15 cheaper, but thank you.

I was staying nearby for the night and decided to eat here . I turned up without booking on a Monday evening and although it was quite busy they found me a table. I ordered a few dishes and I must say all very good. Great service and a nice venue.
