Honestly the best Indian takeaway nearby. Never once had a bad meal from here. Always hot, fresh, and excellent portions. The Hindustani Chilli Garlic Chicken is phenomenal!

Desi punjabi murgh masala very tomato . Not very hot spicy would give it a six out of 10 . prawn pasanda had better. .

Called to get a couple of curries, can’t begin to tell you how nice they were! All I can say is if you get the chance call in and try for yourself, you won’t regret it! Run by a lovely friendly couple..👍

Husband just returned from hospital stay thought an Indian take out would be nice however what a disaster food was disgusting only fit for the bin worse than hospital food and that was disgusting too very disappointing

Pre-ordered for evening delivery, I called to give directions but no one seemed bothered. Later after a couple of phone calls from the driver we had our food. The portions were a fair size, however, there was a few slight issues. My Phall was about as hot as a Madras, not even near a Vindaloo. The Jalfrezi tasted like there wasn't any spice to make it a medium hot dish. The king prawn dish was mostly sauce, and instead of king prawn, it had 5 bits of what looked like chopped small prawns. The fish pakora was tepid, soft and chewy. We exchanged a text or 2, and I was advised that we would get "Some" discount when we ordered next, which was a bit vague, and I mentioned I'm back home tomorrow, which is over 200 miles away, and never heard anything back. I guess they thought there was no need to do anything after getting that information. Which, for me, speaks volumes about them and their lack of customer service.

Tastiest curry I’ve had in a long time, absolutely beautiful!

Best Indian food I've had since living in the UK. The portions are massive and cater to my whole family with leftovers. Delicious to heat up the day after aswell. Credits to the chefs.

Unexpectedly stumbled across this little takeaway house in Great ayton, lovely service from the front desk, in my option the food was over expensive, considering typical restaurants such as Jolsha for the same meals ordered and with a sit in clean accommodation is about £15 cheaper, but thank you.

Food is really good and the portions are fantastic, we’ve had the set meal for 2 a few times and we can’t praise it highly enough. The staff are really friendly and helpful when ordering too.

We ordered for six people - in fact we had clearly over-ordered as the portions were very generous. Everything was delicious, as good as on a recent visit to a well-known restaurant in London. We ordered a day ahead, by phone as the online ordering doesn’t allow for next-day orders, and collected - on time, no waiting, and they provided lots of extras. Food hygiene rating is 5, which is a must in my view. Great work, we will be back for more!

Food is always deliscious. Sraff messed up end of our post code and instead of an S put an F. Took 2 1/2 hours for our delivery after phoning four times to find out where it was. 😔

We were staying in the area and decided to try a takeaway from here. The food was delicious, good sized portions and the food was nice and hot. The service was excellent too. Would definitely return if in the area again. First class, thank you.

This was by far the worst Indian I’ve ever experienced. The food was nothing close to authentic. It tasted like tomato paste and coconut and that’s all. The man bread was so hard it felt like it was a week old. Don’t waste your time with this terrible food.

Had 6 meals delivered late on a random Thursday to work. All great portions everything was hot and tasty. We all really enjoyed our food we will be ordering from here again!

Amazing Best Indian takeaway in the north east

Ordered and collected within 25 mins which I was happy with. Big portions. However it was the worst Indian I've tasted, the sauce seemed blended to a soup consistency with no substance to it, the chicken was drowned in it and had no taste. There was very little to no taste or spice in the bhuna sauce. The korma was tasteless and again blended to a mush

as soon as i stepped into the place i got whacked w the stench of curreh😍😍 but my killy reece made me sum LENGGG chicken curry nd roti 10/10 ppl💪🏽💪🏽 if u aint boys w reece, u cant get a free bottle of pepsi💔😔

Went here to try it for the first time ever and I can honestly say hands down it’s the best Indian I’ve ever had in my life, the chicken was delicious, the curry had a nice kick to it but not too spicy, just perfect! The full meal was lovely and warm still, time wise was spot on we litterally received our food about 40 minutes after ordering which is spot on! Will definitely be ordering from here more often whenever we can! Keep up the good work :)

Tasty enough chicken tikka massala but woke up at 3am with bad stomach pains followed by vomiting 3x..wasn't until the chicken was up that I felt better..not good at all!

Cannot recommend this restaurant as a takeaway enough. We’ve been coming for a couple of years and they’ve always catered well for my dairy allergy and food has always been lovely. Recently, I’ve found out I’m pregnant and I’ve had the most desperate of cravings for foods I just can’t have! (In this case, Korma). I phoned the restaurant and the lady couldn’t have done more to help, she spoke to the chef and they made a bespoke mild curry for me with coconut milk that I could have and made recommendations for suitable accompaniments etc. Tonight I phoned back to order again and the lady remembered me, asked if it had been to my liking and said she would ask the chef to make the same again for me and also double checked all of the dishes in the rest of the order to make sure I didn’t get any dairy. I felt so taken care of and I’m so grateful I have got options to help satisfy my cravings with the most delicious food. My husband is also never disappointed, he loves Indian cuisine and has sampled most of the dishes on the menu here, not one has fallen short of the mark. Really cannot recommend highly enough for service, quality and deliciousness of food. Thanks so much! Brilliant family tan business.

we ordered the makhani sauce, peshwari naan, chicken biryani with biryani sauce and the garlic naan. couldn't fault it! ready for collection in 25 minutes and piping hot. so tasty and fresh!

This is by far the best Indian takeaway I’ve ever used. Good open times unfortunately no delivery to Guisborough but otherwise superb.

Where do I start.... My wife called the restaurant before ordering to enquire about the tika masala as my son dislikes coconut.. We were told there is a little coconut powder used but you can't taste.. Anyway we took a punt an ordered.. We also ordered the lamb chops curry & the lamb balti.. After the food arrived late the tika masala was luminous pink & after tasting literally the only thing it tasted of was COCONUT, The lamb chops curry was a very bland taste with a table spoon of chilli powder thrown in for bad measure-literally the WORST lamb chops I've had from any Indian (ahem) restaurant... .... The balti lamb, each piece had to be chewed & broken down for a lengthy period rather than this being done during the cooking process.. I'm fortunate to live in London where we have superb curry's.. What amazes me is the amount of good reviews this place gets.. The Northern pallete I guess certainly needs a lot of refining... & the woman answering the phone along with the chef could do with more training!

Being a person who survives on takeaway, this was one of my most favorite meal which was extremely mouth watering and tummy filling. Definitely worth the money, highly recommend. Also, great thanks for the amazing customer service and positive vibes.

Awesome full of flavours thick gravy normally curries have lot of oil on top but curries from here are excellent being a local I never tried your curry as my previous experience was very bad before Akbar's ordered my curry from Marton but not anymore will be your regular

Yes I found the perfect homestyle curry spice in the curry was perfect and they made exactly the way I asked missed my home curry but now I will not since I found this little gem I travelled from Middlesbrough as my friend said you must try this and will never get disappointed staff and service is super thanks for cooking such a delicious curry

Beautiful food cooked to perfection flavours were awesome tried it for the first time on Saturday evening one of the best curry my partner enjoyed it too . Delivery was not quick but worth a wait could tell it was cooked fresh and naan were so fluffy thank you Akbar’s keep up good work

Quite late, hairs in the food including eyelashes…. Nasty. Very, very expensive £3.55 for a garlic naan. £3.95 for pilau rice + £10 for a main so £17.50 per person! : In response to the owners view; why is it acceptable to have hair in your food or you deliver our food 90 minutes late? I thought I was partially kind. The next day my wife and I had Delhi belly. I give honest reviews based on experience. Like others have noted the food was sloppy swimming in oil and bland. Whilst eating finding black hairs in your food is revolting, dragging it out of your mouth whilst stopping yourself being physically sick isn’t a good experience, finding other hair just adds to the putrid experience. Why would I write such a negative review? I have no malice; just stating the facts.

Bit disappointed tonight guys, madras was amazing as always as was the tarka daal, but the chips/fries were definitely double fried so very dry and nothing inside them. Asked delivery driver if you were busy as delivery was a bit late, he replied yes, gave him a tip, not even a thank you! Your staff are normally polite & courteous, will still order, normally spot on

Ordered Chicken Khurahi and Chicken Saag both bland. Could have been anything. Keema rice, might as well have been uncle Ben’s. Not cheap either. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Very Disappointed and underwhelmed with this takeaway. I had 2 different dishes and they were both bright red. Understandable for a chicken tikka masala but not a makhani. The sauce was very thin in both. The lamb tikka masala didn't contain much lamb at all. The vegetable rice was tasteless and the naan bread was missing any garlic. All in all not good and it was expensive and even included 10p for the bag it was delivered in. What is that all about?? I can't understand all the good reviews 🤔

Some of the best food I've had in any comparable establishment or in any Indian restaurant. But - the lady they had on the phone tonight was clueless - I gave up and used Just Eat. otherwise it would have been a 5 star rating.

We ordered around 6 for the food to arrive at half 7. It didn’t show up by 8:30 so we decided to ring and we were told it was on its way. It got to 9:33 and there was no sign of food so we...

Ordered food various times for delivery, never an issue with the quality of food but service is awful. Always late and on the last occasion didn’t arrive at all. Phone gets left off the hook, so not able to contact the restaurant.

We placed an order online at 6.50pm, estimated arrival time 85 minutes which on a Saturday night is understandable. We called for an update at 9pm, no answer, we then called back and it continued to ring on an engaged tone for 30minutes until we accepted they were too busy and were not bringing our order. Why not just take the calls and say your busy and offer an apology. One hungry family having to order elsewhere after waiting 2.5 hours patiently..... Terrible customer service!! AVOID.

Ordered chicken makhani and tikka madras. Best curry i have had in Middlesbrough thus far and wont be my last. Only one thing to say, having worked in the middle east and preferring a less sweeter taste, the butter chicken could be less sweet. No big deal as i know it is tailored to the UK pallette. Good portion sizes and piping hot. Thank you!

Not sure what people expect from a takeaway, I judge it on food quality and service. Akbars Darber is fine. I ordered for collection, left Nunthorpe and had about a five minute wait on arrival. The smell of food as I walked in was one of quality and you could hear and see the bustle of a very busy kitchen. I ordered Lamb Jalfrezi with mushroom pilau and garlic nan which was exactly how I expected. The parking can be difficult but surely that’s down to the council and unfair to expect otherwise on a busy street.

Just tried this for the 1st time and it defo won't be the last the food was absolutely gorgeous they cooked exactly how we like it also they were very friendly 👍👌👍👌

Ihave just ordered for the first time this evening . Iwas rather hesitant as I like to get a recomendation however I decided to try and it was really delicious food. Fresh and tasty. A courteous driver delivered my order within half an hour .I shall definitely order again .

Have had takeaway a number of times and always spot on. The chicken Roshuni has become the kids favourite (like korma but ten time nicer I'm told)

We were having a party and wanted Indian food. Akbars sat with us and devised a menu that fit our budget and dietary needs. It was delivered piping hot and ready to serve. The food was amazing, everyone was asking where it had come from. We can highly recommend Akbars in Great Ayton for larger catering jobs or a take away at home.

If you like indian food you have to try this place. The food is excellent, you can tell its prepared with fresh ingredients, and with passion. Way better than your normal takeaway, I can't praise it highly enough. The staff are friendly and efficient , all in all a very positive experience.

Very nice interior. Hasn't been open long but thought I'd give it a try and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. The food was brilliant and the service and staff were very helpful and friendly. The portion sizes were very good and represents good value for money and quality.
