Ordered standard pickle tray, was very tasty with the poppadoms to start. Vegetable rogan josh with mushroom rice to follow, 10/10. Tasted exceptionally good. For drinks we had Kingfisher beer, nothing available on draught, and choice of Cobra /Kingfisher in bottles. When I asked waiter what sort of beer Kingfisher was, he replied it's a beer! That was the only fault I could find with our Busby Stoop experience, a bit more staff training on all aspects of the drink and food menu would marginally improve a great dining experience. Staff courteous, well turned out and professional,reasonably priced high quality food, in clean surroundings. We'll be back, thanks Jaipur Spice.

Downgrade from 5 stars to 1 Stomach cramps and other problems from 4am this morning after a chicken tikka masala. Gas, burping and the rest. Service was atrocious, the older chap on the counter, owner, was unprofessional, not welcoming and certainly no service with a smile. I supported this restaurant through lockdown, but won't be supporting them anymore. Their preference/insistence for cash is dodgy and it looks like they don't want to pay tax like the rest of us.

Staff very rude on the telephone. When I go to the restaurant I'm ignored while the staff speak on the phone, when I call I'm ignored while the staff have a conversation. Called straight back and was put on hold while the staff member answered the second line!! Rude and ignorant

I have had many a curry in my time, but without exception, this is the best that I have ever tasted. On top of this, we were given a tray of pickles and poppadoms free of charge, although we were going to buy them. The cost for six, including drinks, was £81.30. Brilliant value. If you are in the area or staying at Woodland Lakes, make sure you visit here.

The worst Indian food we have ever had and the most expensive. The chicken was tough, the lamb was that tough you couldn't get your knife through it and the prawns had quite clearly been frozen as it was like chewing rubber. A couple of meals were so tasteless we just couldn't eat them. Missing side dishes and all food was cold. I don't know if this is a one off but we are not willing to give it another chance at those prices.

Called in for takeaway. Amazing Bangladeshi food. Food hot hot hot ... not spicy but straight from pan. Wish I had food earlier and eaten in. Owner comes from Bradford every day! Excellent , as good as any I have tasted in Leeds or Bradford!

Came in and sat down at 7:27. We got asked if we wanted poppadoms but when they came out the pickle tray was dirty and had 2 hairs in. Then we waited 35 minuets for one starter and a following 30-40 mins for the main course. I complained to the staff about the wait time. And when the food came out the waiter said are you happy and never apologised for the wait time. The bill came and it was £50 very expensive for the lack of service.

We stayed nearby, ordered a takeaway for 12 - didn't disappoint- met the owner, Muzzy, when we went to collect, nice chap, gave us a load of complimentary drinks and snacks. Food was fantastic. Would recommend.

Perhaps a change of ownership but things have certainly gone downhill. Food was nice but we had to ask for cutlery. Staff were rude and we were talked at rather than asked. We felt quite rushed to finish our meal as our starter and main course was brought out before we had finished the previous course and with plates still on the table. And please use a clean cloth to wipe down the tables...it's not rocket science to get the basics right

Not our first visit to The Jaipur Spice, but it"s been a while.It did not disappoint. Beautiful meal. Staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Looking forward to spending the evening there again. 😀😀

A lovely evening out with my Husband at The Jaipur Spice. It's been a while since we last visited but it was as beautiful as always. Great staff, always happy to help.Food was great. Just been here didn’t book but went early on a Saturday night and got a table . Popadoms was fresh and crisp . Starter was delicious we had onion barji and chicken chatt both hot on arrival Curry’s was lovely too served on hot plates. With special rice and fresh Nan bread. Everything spot on and not too expensive under £50 with 2 drinks

Ate here last Thursday, lamb starter and main main inedible ,all dishes looked and tasted the same, was told by waiter they were short staffed ( hardly a customers concern ) poor service .Disappointed....

The food was unbelievably bland. Four of us ordered completely different curries and three of them were almost identical with all four being nothing like the menu said. I ordered a speciality dish which might as well come out of a jar from Morrisons. I also feel we were overcharged as the receipt was handwritten and we couldn’t understand anything. It was very expensive. The final insult was the card machine was conveniently not working…I’m guessing the taxman won’t be seeing any of our cash.

We’ve been going here for a few years now and it’s always been impressive. Dining in or takeaways the meals are one of the best in the area. The staff are really friendly and will always help in offering something new if you’re uncertain what to order.

We ate in the Jaipur restaurant last night, 2 couples after Thirsk races. The food here was amazing, we could not fault any of the dishes. The service was fast. efficient and very friendly even when we couldn't get a taxi we were offered a lift to our accommodation 3 miles away. Thank you so much, from 4 happy customers. 😀

Really disappointed been to this restaurant a number of times and has slowly gone down hill manager very rude more interested in the takeaway customers the whole meal felt rushed bill came before we had chance to order any more drink or coffee very poor won’t be returning 👎

What an amazing place the food was fantastic, thank you guys it made my birthday,garlic chilli lamb and keema rice is a must. I will definitely be returning soon.

We ate here when staying nearby in Thirsk. Really friendly staff & absolutely delicious food! We tried 2 of their signature dishes from the menu and they were soooo good. Would definitely recommend this place!

Great food! Very busy which meant a bit of a wait for food, but you can understand why when the food is so tasty

On arrival given filthy menus with curry splattered on. When given glasses for drinks had to ask for clean glasses. Ordered poppadoms to start, after 35 minutes asked waiter to take main course, couple who'd just arrived had their order taken before ours. Had to re ask for drinks as they'd been forgotten. Plates chipped and cold, asked for fresh plates and cutlery. Food arrived without cutlery and a missing dish, asked for missing dish and told it hadn't been ordered! Rushed out missing main course and the chapati was uncooked and doughy. Poor service. Poor quality ingredients. New plates, cutlery and dishwasher needed! Do not recommend to eat here, buy yourself an indian ready meal instead and save yourself the disappointment. Attended restaurant as staying in woodland lake lodges nearby. Visited on the 10th April 2024.

We have been many times and and food was very good went recently and the quality was very poor the Lamb was very tough rice was cold and the plates were tepid also no Draft Beers very disappointed.

We were on holiday and fancied a curry. We received a very warm welcome and the staff were very attentive. The food was prompt and the flavours were great. Would highly recommend if your staying in the area.

Called early and arranged a take away for 710pm, arrived paid and told it would be 5 minutes, then lied to again saying it would be another 5 minutes. 35 minutes late my take away eventually arrived, normally food is good but my Madras curry very average, nan breads not up to normal standards. Really poor service followed up by average food, not a great combination.

Did not book but recommend booking as got very busy. Had a lovely meal from an extensive menu,. The food was of an exceptional standard and service excellent. Would most certainly return.

Fabulous restaurant. Six of us ate here last night. Every single meal was absolutely delicious, the service was top notch and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We all highly enjoyed our evening. We sat for a few drinks after our meal and were not rushed by the staff at all but made to feel very at ease. Would highly recommend.

We arrived on a very busy evening with only the manager and 2 waiters serving. We were excited to introduce our friends to our favourite restaurant. Oh dear ! We received a friendly greeting on arrival and ordered drinks. 3 arrived quickly but one was quite forgotten and was requested 3 times! The poppadoms arrived quickly but again 3 main courses came quickly and the fourth one had to be reminded!’ drinks ordered and 20 minutes later we went to the bar and asked where they were. I know they were busy but it was quite like a pantomime and an embarrassment to us but fortunately our friends were sympathetic

Omg where do I begin ? The welcome was wonderful seating and tables immaculate. The food was the best Indian food I have ever tasted in the UK ( we have been going to india for 17 years and once you have tasted Indian food in the real country nothing matches !! Until I found the Jaipur in busby stoop thirsk ! I had the thali which is little tasters of different food worth trying the meat and prawn comes complete and one of the best I have tasted. My husband had the tandoori sizzler which he loved great value for money

Very quiet when we were there, starters were very nice but both mains tasted the same, quite disappointing as one was a speciality dish so was expecting more. The Waitor also asked if he could clear our plates whilst my wife was still eating!!

On arrival the waiters did not have the booking in the diary and were quite rude about the issue. The service from 2 out of the 3 members of staff we had interactions with was poor bordering on being rude & unprofessional. The food was lovely but the portion sizes were small due to it being the promotional banquet night. This restaurant is a “cash only” place which I believe is unacceptable to expect people to carry cash when card payment is accepted at 99.5% of all businesses in the UK. Ever wondered why?

We've talked about visiting for sometime but won't be coming back. Dreadful service, very poorly coordinated. Didn't get a drinks order right yet. Very squashed in, just too close together. Food was very disappointing. They seem to have mistaken the word mild for bland. My mushroom rice was good but I've had better microwave korma. Those who ordered hotter curries were equally unimpressed. To add insult to injury, we could only pay by cash or bank transfer. Given the poor Internet signal, this was really difficult. So wanted this to be an enjoyable evening for our grandson's birthday but it simply wasn't.

Thought we had found a decent curry in the area and have been here several times to eat in and take aways over the last 18 months. Ordered a take away last night (21.10.23) and they said card machine not working so we had to get cash which was a pain. The ordered two curries a Parthia and a Tikka Masala. Both were very disappointing- the Pathia was not at all spiced and hot and was very bland with no kick and the chicken was over cooked and grisly in places. The Tikka was weak and watery with no real flavour. Don’t know if they have changed cooks or what but would not go again I’m afraid so back to looking around again in Thirsk area as ones in town also poor.

So busy but the friendly staff work hard to get everyone fitted in and served. Great curries, great value.

Tuesday night treat, and it was a treat. Excellent food, great service, and good atmosphere. We both enjoyed it very much.

ate here on a quiet Monday evening. Food and service was excellent. Had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Chilli Chicken Balti.

We visited at the weekend and were very disappointed with the food which came as a shock as we've previously had great food from here. The starters were very over cooked and struggled to even cut an onion bajji in half! I ordered a mixed tandoori masala for mains which came with 3 small hard pieces of meat and 1 tiny prawn. The shell had been left in which I bit into! The onions in my partners balti were barely cooked. Overall very disappointing. Hope they get things sorted as it used to be a lovely place to go.

The food here is delicious. The menu is enormous which made it hard to choose but we went with the signature dishes and weren't disappointed. Poppadums are enormous and crispy fresh. Service was excellent. I wanted a glass of white but loathe sav blanc which was the only option so they said I could have a chardonnay or a pino grigio by the glass instead. Perfect! Young man who served us was efficient and great with the banter. If we lived around here (we are visiting from overseas) this would be our local.

Sorry to say the reviews given about the poor service are right. Our pappadoms were forgotten, our mains were flung down on the table, it was a case of sit, eat and leave. The manager was clearly unhappy and his poor staff looked harassed, food was great but like others we won’t be returning. At this rate he’s going to have no one left to serve.

Food I can't fault, was delicious. Service was some of the poorest attitude I've experienced in some time. Plates, Starters, poppadoms, main meal and drinks were just plonked down in front of you. No interaction from staff, no asking how the meal was or if we wanted any more drinks. Cutlery was handed to us rather than placed on the table. Upon leaving, nobody even gave us a second glance or asked us how it was, or thanks for coming. Even though the food was served fast, it felt like a cattle market, in, sit down, eat, pay, get out as we need the table. Would never return.

It was just "ok". If you're hoping to be wowed by amazing food, great service etc, I would look elsewhere.

Banquet night, easy to know what food you ordered as it’s standard courses but. Be very aware to check your bill. Drinks are added to the food bill which you can not understand, ask for a break down of drinks.We got charged for 9 pints of lager and we only had 4. The owner Malik blamed the bar staff but it was himself that wrote the bill out.

We ordered the set meal for 2 - it was massive! We probably could have just had the entree and been satisfied. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the chef was happy to make our dishes mild as I cannot handle spicy food. Would love to go back next time I am in York

Amazing staff, Malik had been exceptional gone the extra mile for us , we have done a takeaway and today dining experience too perfect.

Booked for Friday night at 6.30pm for a table of 5 we arrived around 6.15 . No tables ready was just taken to a corner and sat a table which seats four . Was told to just pull up a chair and one will have to sit on the end . No cutlery on the table , a young server just dumped it all in the table so we had to set the table out ourselves . Was 20 mins before we were offered any drinks . Can I also add we were sat in front of the toilets so every time someone went my wife was knocked ( not great ) . Forty minutes before we had the food order taken ( at the time only 4 other couples in so not busy ) . Food was amazing as normal but service was absolutely terrible rude staff with bad manners . On payment my wife noticed they had tried to charge us for 2 rounds of drinks! When we only had 1 . Overall not a great dining experience but sadly was enough to put us off ever going back and warning others of the terrible service

Good food , particularly the starter and papadams at a reasonable price. The staff were very efficient The only slight issue was that the sauce on our two different main courses were very similar

Atmosphere is average, manager too strict with his staff...he needs to chill and set a more endearing ambience....the dining experience felt pretty matter of fact...in and out....I've eaten here twice recently, and although the food was ok the overall experience was blah. There's far better in Yorkshire....ps the Chef of the year plate on the counter from 2014 is a bit dated now..

We have used this restaurant a lot over the years. Generally the food is good and the banquet night is particularly great value. However, the issue we have had is over take-aways. No matter how often I reiterate the order over the telephone and repeat it several times there has been, on quite a few occasions, missing items from the order. It is so frustrating! Mainly because it spoils your enjoyment of the meal. The restaurant does not offer a delivery service so to go back to correct the order is, for us, a further round trip of ten miles. Last night the order was short of the salad for the onion bhajis even though I said does it come with salad. I knew that the onion bhajis come with salad, but I mentioned it anyway in case it got forgotten, which it did. It is such a shame because the food is good and the staff are very friendly. However, there seems to be a breakdown in communication somewhere between the ordering on the telephone and the order being relayed to the kitchen!

The food is excellent here, I have only been once but am definitely planning on going again. There is plenty of choice and some curries I hadn't seen elsewhere. The service was prompt and friendly and the restaurant was full on a weekday evening.

Over the years we have had delicious meals as takeaways and in the restaurant. We have recommended friends go and we have taken family and friends to eat in. But today went horribly wrong! On our way back from the Dales we checked online for the opening time which said 5pm, we decided to wait an hour locally (sitting in a lay-by) because it would be worth the wait. We live over thirty miles away so it would be silly to go home and come back. At 5pm we phoned and gave our order, we were told the restaurant would open at 5.30pm on Tuesdays not 5pm but to go in and have a complementary drink whilst we waited. Other customers were waiting and had done the same as us and checked on line for the opening time but decided to give up. Eventually at 5.45pm the doors opened and we were asked to take a seat and offered drinks. (Half a beer and a tonic water). The restaurant got busy quickly with takeaway orders and people eating in. Our takeaway ordered at 5pm was eventually ready at 6.45pm. Telephone and text communication between ourselves and the restaurant were sincere and the restauranteur and other staff were extremely apologetic. We were offered 10% discount off the order. We got on our way, hungry and ready to enjoy our curries. Unfortunately when we unpacked it our prawn puri was missing but the bag of salad was in the bag. Our lamb achari was missing and our lamb balti was missing. We had a duplicate lamb bhuna and a lamb saag instead. When we phoned we were made out to be liars. If our order had been correct we would not have needed to phone we would have been eating our food! Eventually we were told to bring it back and have our order cooked again. This would have been a round trip of an hour and a half making it a four hour wait from placing the order to eating the takeaway! Disappointed and very unhappy!

We visited as a group of 5! The food was okay wasn’t blown away by the taste or quality of it which wasn’t what I expected since the manager said they was the best Indian in Yorkshire whilst asking us to wait for our table...

RIGHT the guy was extremely stroppy and the other guys mate wouldn’t pack up my friends food it took a lot of convincing to get him to do it. He finally did it then we asked for the desert menu AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN HAVE...

Again an excellent takeaway,the only negative point was the Aloo Gobi.£3.50 for 2 little pieces of cauliflower and 1 piece of potato which is the cheapest dish to prepare was very poor. The overall experience was good just a shame about the side dish!!!

I note the manager's response to any criticism is to make the outlandish claim to be running the best Indian restaurant in the region. Rather than burying his head in the sand he should visit literally anywhere else and would realise he should not be...

Disgraceful prejudice treatment given by staff at this restaurant!!! My son who has special needs was taken by his carers, my son sat at an available table near a family who were already seated. A member of staff immediately approached and requested that my sons party move to a table away from the vicinity of this family. My son has limited comprehension and once he has chosen to sit it is difficult to move him, he just wants feeding! The staff member then approached the family and offered to move them away, they initially declined stating that they did NOT have any issues but the staff member continuously approached them until they agreed to move, apparently to stop HIM pestering them rather than the proximity of my son being a problem. When I was told of this situation I actually cried. My son loves to eat out and he can be vocal in his enjoyment of it but the staff at this restaurant made a decision that his presence was unacceptable on sight of a young man who is autistic and has Down’s syndrome! Shame on Jaipur Spice !!!

Best curry around. Its just beautiful. Tried about 25 different dishes since we started going here 8 months ago, I've not had a bad dish yet. Every meal has so much flavour to it. Couldn't recommend more.

What can I see, absolutely the best curry I have tasted in a longggg time and the service was excellent, the beer was spot on and all the prices for everything were very good indeed .. thanks jaipur spice team great job
