Along with friends who live locally we visited this establishment for the second time last weekend. Our visit confirmed for us that lunch at the George is a real treat. The food is first class as was the service. Set in the middle of Easingwold, a lovely little town, this hotel is an example of how a restaurant should be run. Despite visiting on a busy Saturday lunchtime we felt that we were made very welcome and given ample time and attention. The restaurant area is well presented, relaxed and comfortable. The lunchtime menu suited our party, offering a good choice for us all. Perhaps most importantly the food was first class. Based on our experience I would be happy to recommend the George to anyone.

Lovely place, however from the road it does look dark and that nobody goes here, I have thought this for years. Staff pleasant, service was good they do leave you time to decide what to have. Food is great no complaints from us, tasty, hot and smells ok. One small criticism the music after about a hour if you could you will feel like screaming

We went here for a meal whilst on holiday. It’s a bit “out of the way” - not in a town or village. We found it when searching online for places to eat. The service was ok although we did have to ask to order after sitting there for 10 minutes. The napkins and tablecloth were stained. However the food was delicious. It was of a reasonable price too.

We visited twice during our week in Easingwold. Everyone was friendly and the service was good. We had the special banquet for 2 on the first occasion and struggled to eat it all, (although we managed 😉 On the second occasion we skipped the starters and still had more than enough food. I highly recommend the Rajasthani Gosht. The lamb was so tender. If we go back to Easingwold we will dine at the Jaipur again.

Gone up market a little bit since our last visit but still some pub classics available on the menu. Food was well prepared and presented. Several hand pulled beers always available. The best Sunday Lunch I've had in a long time at a very reasonable price. Service was excellent, everyone seemed happy and were very attentive. Burrata was ACTUAL burrata (I've seen a lot of mozzarella palmed off as burrata, but not here!) The main was deceptively large, presented really well and the taste was exceptional. Lastly, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was probably the best I've ever had. Absolutely no complaints, thoroughly enjoyable meal, will definitely be back!

This is a great easingwold institution . We only use for food and drink so cannot comment on rooms . The bar has a great traditional pub feel with what I’ll call a mature quiet clientele. Couples , guests , locals with their dogs . A very very well kept bar with a rotating selection of great craft beers . Plus the lagers on keg if you must ! Food is step above the casual in the restaurant with a regularly changing fresh local sourced menu . People come here because it’s special . Easingwold has much to offer but the George is top of the list for me .

We had a fantastic stay at The George hotel. The room was lovely and clean, comfortable beds and great service. Especially at breakfast. The food was great and we really liked the decor. My one moan would be that our room (9) which is a family room was incredibly hot. It made it very, very uncomfortable. Even with the small fan provided, it made no difference. There was 2 adults and 2 children and we all struggled to sleep. It wasn’t warm outside either I’ll add. It was like the room was above an oven. My parents were staying on the ground floor and that room was a perfect temperature. Also the bathroom door was so squeaky! Overall I would stay here again but request a different room.

Unfortunately one of the worst Indian takeaways I’ve had for a long time. They might as well have labelled the dishes red or yellow as they both tasted very similar, not of very much at all. The chicken seemed to be reasonable quality but certainly haven’t been cooked in a tandoor. It’s okay if you’re really hungry or drunk and fancy a quick curry, but not for me thanks, I’ve had much better from the supermarket.

Food was average but my main complaint was the table service which was beyond dreadful. In any other restaurant then taking your order, let alone serving your food'n'drink, is generally done by someone standing close to each guest in turn. Here it is done by the waiter shouting across the table at each guest. God forbid you are in conversation. When the food/drinks arrive then its the same. Waiter stands in one place and reaches over everything. Bit like a trough and shovel. The young waiters seemed much better, unfortunately we got the 'experienced person'. We did comment and ask that he didn't sprawl himself in front of us. It fell on deaf ears. Not been for 10 years and will not go back in the coming decade Dreadful

We had a lovely large table set in the corner with views over the restaurant, we ordered poppadum's and dips whilst looking at the menu, I had a house red wine which was a generous size glass and hubby had an Indian lager. We ordered starters which were large and freshly cooked and really tasty then onto mains, we each had a curry from a large choice on the menu, rice and naans and onion bhajis, the whole meal was superb and we really enjoyed our evening. When we left we both agreed we couldn't have eaten another bite, we were so full. If we lived locally we would be back.

Reference to this being a flagship restaurant must be largely historic. Some serious refurbishment is well overdue and the interior lacks the ambience you expect from an Indian eaterie. I am probably being a tad mischievous in saying there is a touch of Fawlty Towers about the place ..no grumpy Basil but the waiters gave the impression of being rather uncoordinated. There was no buzz or vibe ..a little background music at the very least would have helped! In fairness, times have been tough for the hospitality industry with COVID and finances have been squeezed. This is a large restaurant that has no doubt seen better days. We were two of a very small number of diners and this was in a Friday night. On the positive side there was a healthy flow of customers collecting take-aways which, perhaps, is not surprising because (1) people’s eating habits have changed dramatically in the last 18 months due to the pandemic and (2) the food is EXCELLENT ..thus the 4 stars. One tip – check the price of pappadoms before you order!

We headed here on the final day of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, i.e. 31/08/20, owing to other local eateries seemingly not partaking. I was pleasantly surprised. The building is on a large plot of land, with plenty of parking. Upon entering the building, we were met with what seemed a system to combat Covid: hand sanitiser at the entry, staff wearing visas, and tables about 2 metres apart. The building itself is due some decoration and touching up, but I didn't go to adore the surroundings. The food choice was good. I ordered vegetarian options, which generally gives me food envy at Indian restaurants. However, the food was still nice. The service was particularly attentive, especially with how busy staff were. Ultimately I was not left amazed, but I'm going with a 5 when taking all things together. I'd say it's a 4.5, but that is of course not a voting option for me. I can see why it is currently a 4 on here but I think that is something of a disservice. I would - personally - class the place as "Covid ready".

My wife and I stopped in the Jaipur Spice on the way back from the NEC in Birmingham.Pros:+ Excellent, authentic, Indian food+ Lovely staff, can't do enough for you+ Great restaurant, very good decor and atmosphere.Cons:- Fairly expensive by Indian restaurant standards. We enjoyed starters, mains, sides and drinks. The food was very good. I always like to have the Arkhan Gohst, but I'm never sure how hot it will be. Sometimes I have this dish and it's inedibly hot, this time I could hardly taste the chilli.

Absolutely fantastic!! The food is amazing, full of flavour and good size portions. As with everything price is so important and value for money is 10/10. We sat in to eat although you can tell they do very well with takeaway orders. Atmosphere, as you would expect on a Late October Tuesday night however the staff, Nick and Ravi made this a truly fantastic experience. Ravi was on hand for everything we needed, polite and respectful but also very open to questions, complimented by Nick who was very knowledgeable about the best alcohol drinks and how to have them. Both a huge asset to the Jaipur Spice team. Massive thank you for a great evening.
