Taste of India is right up there with the best Indian cuisine I've tasted. Chicken Jalfrezi is my staple and this one was superb.

Always great food and big portions. Friendly team and obviously popular. Deserves its excellent reputation!!

We had an absolutely fantastic meal here. The star of the show was the waiter, Haf, who had great recommendations and chat. The dhaal piaza starter was an absolute delight. We had the chicken spicy coconut and lamb Bengali jalfrey with lemon cashew rice and naan, everything was so fresh and every dish was so unique as well. Couldn't have asked for better, a rare find for a small town in rural England!

I ordered chicken tikka masala and chips to take out, cost £10. Well I was expecting a bit more than a child's portion in fact I wouldn't even class that as a child's portion, absolutely shocking especially for one of your regular customers. Genuinely guys I am shocked at what you've charged me, I would of happily paid £5 for what you have dished out but £10 not a chance.

Great service and the atmosphere I loved, the decor but it just needed a little more attention here and there I suggest to get there early as it gets busy and the food was packed with flavour! The Rogan Josh was great which I had you can also have a take away or eat in. The Jalfrezi was great too I would recommend. Sadly though it did take quite a while for the food to come after we had some poppadoms they were great with the side dishes provided but the food did take quite a while to come so if you have impatient hungry children sadly this is not the place! Great service and food though!😁

The best Indian food I have ever tasted. The curries are prepared with a wide variety of ingredients and are seasoned very differently and in a balanced way - a delight! The waiters seemed a bit grim at first, but then they were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the restaurant is not nice, very narrow and loud - hence only 4 stars.

What an absolute gem of a restaurant! The staff are so attentive, warm and charismatic and the food was without doubt, the BEST Indian we have ever had. Sid served us and made us feel so very welcome from the moment we arrived. The owner/chef of 30+ years and his sons have put their hearts and souls into the food/service and dining experience and we very much felt it (with huge gratitude). The naan breads are again, the best we have ever had. I stepped outside of my normal and chose chicken chom chom with coconut rice. My husband and son had food envy when they tried it! Thank you for such a lovely meal, and for welcoming us into your incredible restaurant with such warmth-we can’t wait to visit again!

Saturday night in Bedale and it was busy in the Taste of India. My wife and I were there early and we were not to be disappointed. The staff were very attentive and the service was prompt. Staff helped explain the menu and their recommendations were excellent. We had starters, poppadoms and main courses. The food was fabulous and we had a great evening. Thanks to all.

Girls' night out, the first time I've been here the staff are welcoming and the food was lovely. I enjoyed everything about the evening, I had garlic mushroom starter and Chicken Malli for main, everyone got their meals together and it was hot so everyone eating together. I had Cobra as a refreshment, but they do have a selection of wines and spirits. The evening wasn't badly priced either, which is good.

We stayed in Bedale last night and ate in the Taste of India. We live in Bradford, which is often considered the home of English curry, but the food we ate at Taste of India was better than anything we've had in Bradford! The staff were great and recommended a couple of changes to what we ordered which made the meal even better. It's an interesting menu, with curries I've not seen elsewhere, and the quality of food and service was brilliant

Superb food, excellent service, staff are so friendly and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in the area. We will be back without a shadow of a doubt.

Great choice of wonderful food, excellent service. Only negative is that the gents toilet has no hand drying facilities, no toilet roll and the floor was soaked in urine.

Not visited for a little while but pleased to see it is still as good as ever. Staff were very helpful, offering great advice especially with regards to allergies and intolerances. The dish recommended was excellent as was the Onion Bhaji starter and portions were very generous. Good value for money, great service, the wine was also very good which is not always the case in some Indian restaurants. All in all very good and despite there being 2 other Indian Restaurants in Bedale the Taste of India remains our first choice.

We decided to try Taste of India after reading various reviews and we were very impressed. The service was quick and the staff very friendly. One of our party is Gluten free and she was well looked after. All our food was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Couldn’t fault the place. So friendly and welcoming. Had a gorgeous Prawn on Purée- then a delicious Lamb Roghan Josh - the lamb was so tender - and a huge portion. Superb

If you are near Bedale, Yorkshire, and a lover of high quality Asian cuisine, then you must book a table at The Taste of India. Our meal was served in record time, the service was friendly, and very keen to please. The Chief has managed to produce high quality cuisine, where you can taste the individual spices. You need to book a table as this restaurant is much desired, so very popular. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

One of the best Indian meals I've ever had

The best Indian! We used to visit all the time when we lived in Leeming, and whenever we get a chance to visit North Yorkshire, we always make sure this is on our list, been coming for over 10 years now, and the food and service is still spot on! My favourite is the chicken biriyani, and the garlic and coriander naan bread and the onion bhaji's are to die for! The lads are all so welcoming and it was great to be back again on Monday night for a top meal for my husbands birthday! The lads even recognised my husband and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived (we havnt been to Yorkshire in 3 years) No wonder they've recieved best Indian 3 years in a row, much deserved and we can't wait to come back again soon!

The chef is worth his weight in gold! A really good meal, not just your casual chicken tikka masala. Stacked full of original flavours and textures. We were there on a Tuesday, no one in. Tip: in general if you're planning a night out in Bedale, Tuesday isn't the right night 🤣. So obviously a strange atmosphere. But the owner is a great laugh and more than made up for it. Really good food... Echt!

This place is a wonderful place to eat out on a summers evening. Dine outside or inside. Great selection of Indian food The staff were friendly and polite and very helpful.

Fantastic food and quick service

Not great service we had finished our popadoms before we got the menu, then found out they cost us £21. I had chicken Pokhara and it was as bland as it could be, no taste at all. Main was chicken dopiaza and as dry a curry as I’ve ever had. Not the best curry.

Brilliant food, TOI stands out from the local competitors and rightfully so. Just a shame about the wait for the food so 4 stars instead of 5, haha.

We ordered a takeaway for our family was told to collect in 45 minutes. We then waited another 40 minutes for the food to arrive...1 hour 25 minutes. We don't mind waiting but please give out realistic times when ordering. Keep us updated that there is a delay rather than ignoring waiting customers. Thankfully, the food was good. Just a shame about poor time keeping and communication.

Absolutly fantastic!! Me and my Wife decided to go here last Tuesday Night (18th July) for my Birthday. What a change, the Menu has been re-vamped and I really like the way it's laid out now and the description of the currys is quite unique and really easy to understand what you're ordering. We used to go to each of the three Indian Restaurants in bedale on the regular then started making Spice over the road our regular but thought we would make a change after the re-opening back in May. We will certainly be returning, service was impeccable to say the waiter was on his own with about 75% capacity.

Decided to visit here after reading reviews. So glad we did. Staff very friendly and explained the dishes. We all had different but star was Chom Chom. Well worth a visit if in Bedale.

Meal after game of golf. My two colleagues enjoyed their meals. I got a recommended lamb dish. It was just OK. Meat was chewy. Restaurant was unable to take card payment so had to go a a couple of doors down and withdraw cash. No hand drying in toilets. Had to use toilet roll. Service was good.

We’re staying in Bedale for the weekend and didn’t eat in because we have two dogs, so ordered takeaway. I think this was the best Indian / Bengali takeaway I’ve ever had. Really lovely food, very well cocked and very tasty. The restaurant looks nice too and the staff seemed friendly. I would definitely recommend and would definitely come back. We ordered the Tarka and Jaflong curries and can recommend both.

Popped in here on our first night in Bedale and we chose well. The waiter was very friendly and helpful (and busy, which is always a good sign). The restaurant and ambiance was clean and relaxing, exactly what I like when sat down to eat. The food was sublime…possibly the tastiest Indian food I’ve had in the UK. It was all presented well, it was hot and there was plenty of it….we couldn’t finish it all, so took the rest home with us (we were not wasting such fabulous food). We have certainly found our local restaurant and can’t wait to take our family and friends there. Definitely recommend a visit.

The food was absolutely delicious, it was only let down a little by the hour long wait we had for the takeaway. Judging by others we will probably order by phone next time and then go in, as all other takeaway orders seem to have done. Having said that, when we ate the food it was really good and we will definitely be back.

Lovely Family Run restaurant. They cater not only for the beginner pallet that want to build up their spice tolerance they also cater for the season curry veteran. For the more adventurous they even offer a real Bangladeshi option of curries that are full of flavour and spice which are all served with a smile. I look forward to my next experience here.

When we ordered our food (Takeaway) we were told it would be a 50 minute wait. We went away and came back after fifty minutes expecting our food to be ready. We then had to wait another 40 minutes, all the time watching people come and go with their food. We asked if we had been forgotten and the staff member behind the desk just said no, it would be two minutes, but offered no explanation, neither did he go and find out where our food was. When we were eventually given our food, there was no explanation or apology. Although the food was good, our whole experience was ruined by the poor service.

Food exvellent service awfull waited for ages

Ordered for collection at 19:40 and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. Since I was 20 minutes away from the restaurant, I was expecting it to be ready when I arrived. Got there just before 8pm and was told “it’ll be a few minutes”. Didn’t receive my order until 10 past 9!! The staff just kept saying “it’ll be 5 minutes” constantly whilst I was sat there watching other people come and collect their orders! Communication was so poor, just wanted them to tell me how long it would actually take so I could have gone for a drink and not just sat there! It seemed obvious looking around that there was no leadership in the staff. Upon finally getting my order, I didn’t even get an apology. Awful. The food was okay, but the service was absolutely shocking.

The food was OK. The service was average. The ladies loo was out of order, the gents had no hand towel. Luckily the table was close enough to the loo. The best bit was the pickle tray and poppadoms which were excellent, sadly it went downhill from there.

The food was very nice. Unfortunately we had a 7:30 booking and we’re not given our food order till past 9pm normally If they had offered use a free round of drinks or even just apologised and explained I’d be fine but they didn’t say anything or acknowledge it in anyway other than give us a couple of extra popadoms. Shame as like I said the food was lovely but the lack of service and communication left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Excellent Indian food if a little light on chili - good veggies and all tasted fresh without an excess of oil. Nans were good too. Saag paneer recommended (thou ask for some heat in the saag)
