Stopped for lunch on our way to Thorpe Perrow Arboretum. It was 12.30 and we were the only diners which was a little worrying but we needn't have been concerned. Ordered one steak and kidney pie and one warm chicken salad with melted brie. Huge portion of pie filled with tender meat in a delicious gravy. Interesting, tasty chicken salad. We were served by a very friendly, helpful gentleman. One criticism, the room was cold, we both wore thick sweaters but we still felt a bit chilly. Good value and if we lived nearer we would eagerly return.

Called in for lunch on the way home from a few days in the Dales. We arrived just as they opened and we were the only customers for the first half hour but this was of no consequence as the landlord was very friendly and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.

If only we'd found this wonderful pub at the start of our 3 weeks in Bedale, we wouldn't have bothered with anywhere else! We'd tried another couple of pubs before we chanced upon the Milbank Arms, but they didn't wow us, so we tried a light lunch of roast beef roll with gravy and fries, and it more than passed the test. So, we returned the following night for dinner - unfortunately the last night before we moved on. I had the steak and ale pie, and my husband had steak with what he describes as the best stilton sauce ever. Both meals were excellent, with lovely real potato chips, delicious creamy mash, and excellent fresh veg. The landlord is lovely, very chatty and helpful with a great sense of humour. Definitely a pub we'll return to when we return to the area.

Fabulous pub for food with great attentive service. Great menu to choose from as well as specials on the board by the bar area. No complaints from the starters to the puds. All our party were completely satisfied with what we were served. All cooked to perfection. Nothing like great food in a proper, warm pub.

We had Christmas dinner at the Milbank last night. It was excellent!!! We would thoroughly recommend going!! The staff are always attentive to you, check everything is ok for you and are always polite. We usually go every week for a meal as it is honestly one of the best places to go for good wholesome meals. Can't recommend it enough. Thank you Dean and Jodie and al the staff.

We went to The Milbank Arms for dinner on a Wednesday in November. There was a welcome fire and an equally warm welcome as we entered the pub. The menu is broad so a good choice of starters and main course (we didn't have room for a dessert!). Lots of specials on the board. We really enjoyed our meal and have booked to take friends in December. There is ample parking behind the pub.

We had been intending to visit the Millbank Arms for ages but never got around to it until this lunchtime. So glad we did. Just had the most incredible meal - Steak and Ale Pie and a Beef Stroganoff, with a Milbank Mess chaser for one (with two spoons 😂). The staff are excellent, really friendly and helpful and the food was all of a really high quality. Thanks for such a lovely lunch. We will definitely be back and will bring friends and relatives to experience it for themselves.

We had a delicious lunch here today. I had the steak and ale pie and Steve had the Sunday roast beef dinner. We both enjoyed a Sunday lunch out more than we have in years. The food itself was just great, well cooked and hot, but what was so unusual and what made the main course for us was something that doesn't happen, anywhere now, all the plates and serving dishes were hot, not barely aired, HOT. Just as they should be. A huge thank you. The beef in the pie was extremely tender and tasted delicious as did the pie crust. Steve's roast beef arrived pink/rare-med just as requested, the mashed potato was better than, but just like, homemade, with lovely cauliflower cheese, cabbage and leek, carrot and broccoli. Very friendly, experienced staff and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, what a find! I'm sure we'll return having recently moved to the area. P.S. apologies for the poor pic. Just snapped a quick one before we are the lot!

We wanted something a bit different to normal take-aways for my 67th birthday, so chose our local pub, the Millbank Arms as they are doing take-aways at the weekend. The pub has a take-away menu with standard burgers, hot dogs, garlic baguettes and so on, plus a specials board. For 3 of us, we chose a garlic and cheese baguette and garlic prawns as starters, then a hot dog, a steak and ale pie and a sirloin steak. It was more expensive than a standard take-away but it was worth every penny. The prawns were delicious, the garlic baguette was smothered in melted cheese. Our daughter really enjoyed her hot dog with lots of fried onions - it was huge. My wife's steak was perfect - as good as the best steaks we've had in America - it also was huge and she has nearly half of it for another meal. My steak and ale pie was superb - again huge, with beautifully firm (i.e. not rubbery) but tender meat, and lots of tasty gravy. Again I have some left for another meal. There were vegetables, a bread roll and butter and 3 huge portions of lovely chips, only 1 of which we ate tonight. All in all brilliant - I was expecting something pretty ordinary but we got exceptional - ingredients are so important as well as the obvious skill and care in cooking. We will be buying meals from the Millbank Arms again.

We visited this pub in Well, near Masham, Bedale, North Yorkshire as it is the only one in Well where we were staying. We're so pleased we did!The food is very good to say the least. They source local ingredients where possible and make their own sauces, honeycomb, curry and more. I've had the curry and the honeycomb and can honestly say they were the best I've tasted when eating out.My other half is a vegetarian and they went out of their way to provide a lovely veggie Sunday dinner with veggie gravy and extra things to make up for the lack of the meat. The portions were huge! I'd forgotten the size of Yorkshire portions! The staff are friendly and helpful and it is a nice, clean cozy place. We're so pleased we went and will be going again before we leave to travel back home. I can highly recommend this pub. You will have to book as you do everywhere now due to the Covid-19 virus, but that isn't a problem. If you're staying in Well, or Masham, which isn't very far away, go and give it a try, you won't be sorry.

Me and my husband visited this lovely little pub after viewing a near by property which was for sale.We both had the steak and ale pie and omg he really was steak. Loads of big chunks of mouth watering beef in a gorgeous gravy with a shortcrust top. A huge bowl of crispy chips, cauliflower cheese, mangetout, cabbage, broccoli and carrots. The veg was cooked perfect, not raw, not soft just right. All in all the meal was very tasty and great value for money. What we found funny was every time we had a mouth full of food we would be mm mm, another couple at the other side of the pub did exactly the same when their food came. It’s a big clue to how yummy the food was.The landlady was a cracking women, very friendly, chatty and inviting. The young girls waiting on tables were all very pleasant and sweet.Unfortunately we won’t be moving to Well in Bedale but we’re moving 13 miles away in Thirsk. I came in with family on Thursday evening to a warm but rushed welcome and were shown to our table. The menu looked very nice and was quite extensive really. I had a black pudding, bacon and potato salad which was very nice. The chorizo and mushrooms starter was very watery so you had to go fishing towards the end of the bowl, but it was still nice. For the main courses the chilli burger was a burger covered in chilli in which the chilli appeared to have been made with a whole steak, so definitely value for money. The gammon steaks were huge and well cooked. The only downside of such large portions was that none of us had room for dessert. There didn't seem to be any respect for social distancing besides hand santiser at the entrances and the tables were close together so that the waitresses had to lean over the table. The food was very good so I've overlooked the lack of social distancing

The Milbank Arms is a fantastic pub! The food and service are exceptional and Chris and Di do an amazing job. We love coming here for family Sunday lunches, for evening meals and recently my husband and I had our family and wedding party lunch here on New Year's Eve before the evening celebration at home. It was brilliant and so many of our friends commented on what a great pub it is and how delicious the food was. Family favourites include roast lunches on Sunday, especially the pork - they have a gluten free option for my Dad, seabass fillets, chicken curry and the scampi is yummy! If you have room the Crunchie sundaes are a very good dessert choice too. But what makes the pub so special is that it feels like a traditional country pub with a warm atmosphere, proper fire in the winter months and broad selection of beer and ales on tap and lots of menu choice with specials that change regularly so there is always something for everybody. Definitely the best place around!

Warm greeting from both the staff and the roaring fire the minute we walked in. Good choice of drinks and exceptional food. At £64 for three courses, coffee and drinks it’s very reasonably priced too for the quality of the food and service. my husband had the warm salad of bacon, black pudding and new potato for starter and would have happily eaten it again as his main. The duck pate was delicious with plenty of toast and a fresh side salad. Mains of Cajun salmon with sweet potato fries and game sausages with colcannon mash from the specials board didn’t disappoint. We hadn’t intended to have three courses but the desserts sounded too good to miss. The crunchie sundae provided home made honeycomb in every spoonful and the sticky toffee pudding was among one of the best my husband has had, and he has researched a fair few! all in all an excellent lunch in a friendly well kept country pub. Plenty of veg and nice Yorkshire puds, we were asked how we wanted our various meats cooked. Not the cheapest but was worth it, the drinks push up the bill but they always do. Baked cheesecake was fabulous.

booked a table on a busy Saturday night but very good service and food served with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and didn't feel rushed.

We recently visited this pub whilst on holiday in the area , the first visit was just after we arrived, we stopped for lunch and received a very warm welcome , the food was delicious and very well presented and there was plenty of it too. We decided to book a table in the restaurant for Sunday lunch , this too was amazing and there was a very wide choice of roasts and other options, I had the garlic king prawns and my husband had the mushrooms, followed by roast chicken and my husband had a curry , we shared a honeycomb sundae for desert, the portions are very generous. We finished our holiday off by dining there on the Friday evening. We would definitely return if we visit the area again .

Visited Milbank Arms tonight for the third time and enjoyed the food and service just as much as the other 2 times. This time we had starters spring rolls, garlic mushrooms and baked brie all were a very good size well presented piping hot and delicious. T bone pork chop with black pudding, lamb rump and Gamon followed with veg, potatoe and chips in generous portions. The only minus of the evening is none of us could manage a pudding Something to return to have another time

We are a family of 4, we have a toddler and 6 year old. We were so warmly welcomed and had a lovely table in the bar area. Our meals were simply divine! Lamb rump was so tender and flavoursome and the beef was melt in the mouth. I don’t normally like Yorkshire puds but this one was so good I wasn’t sharing it! Really beautifully cooked veg, vibrant green broccoli which always makes me happy. We will come again!

Called in here today with a couple of friends for lunch. Whilst it serves food the place has managed to retain a village pub atmosphere and we were given a friendly welcome by the staff. It was quite busy but our food still arrived on time. My Crab and Avocado salad was light and tasty and my husband said his Tuna was “the best I’ve ever tasted” . We left the dessert menu to try on another visit as we will certainly be back.

We have never been to The Milbank Arms before but had been told it was worth a visit, so we decided to go for Sunday lunch.

We were meeting up with far-flung family members at another pub which sadly had a fire. I contacted the Milbank Arms and they were able to accommodate a party of 14 people for lunch. The pub is quite small and off the beaten track but the service and food were excellent. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the pretty village location. The staff were lovely too. Thanks for making our get-together a success.

Stayed in the Chapel House b and b for four nights and ate in the pub each night of our stay. The hosts were very friendly giving us a good welcome and looked after us well each night we were in. There is a good variety of food to choose from and we had a different meal each night and everything we had was wonderful with a good selection of deserts to follow. highly recommend this place.

We visited the Millbank Arms for a last minute Mother’s Day lunch and we were very impressed. Living locally with two young children we generally stay home for Sunday roast, however I had heard great reviews and thought we would check it out before our walk around Thorpe Perrow. Both myself and my husband ordered the Beef on the recommendation from a lovely gentleman. Our two girls had the children’s beef also and we were delighted with the quality of the meat it was cooked to perfection! Our 6 year old was so happy she asked for the recipe! and said it was better than mine . It isn’t the cheapest place for a Sunday lunch, but you get what you pay for, excellent quality, wonderful portion, fantastic service in a beautiful location! It’s our new favourite place, and we will be back with the in laws!

This area of North Yorkshire is fortunate to have so many traditional pubs offering quality food and The Milbank is no exception. Our haddock and chips were excellent as were our other courses. Drinks were reasonably priced. Service was efficient and the ambience pleasant.

Visited as a couple 7 March. We were staying in the hotel. Ambience was good. The eating area could perhaps do with a bit of updating but it is fine. Menu is a mix of pub classics and more adventurous dishes. I had one of the latter as a starter, Lamb Tagine Roll with harissa mayo and smoked aubergine purée. Very good. The roll had chunks of lamb and the mayo had a kick. Tasted and presented very well. I had steak and ale pie for main. Appeared home made with real chips. Again very good Mrs W had the pork belly which she enjoyed too. We had a very nice bottle of NZ Sav Blanc as well. Very good value.

Cracking food, had the English breakfast but your portion sizes are for a small adult/child Such a nice classy place where you can chill and dog friendly with a doggy water station

I have been here for the last 3 weeks on business for 2 nights a week, still 3 weeks to go 😀 Lovely welcome by everyone who has been on reception on all my visits, very helpful, friendly and they go that extra mile to help. The rooms I've stayed in so far are ( 2-10 and 31) which were very clean, cosy and well presented with everything you needed, Iron, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. The only little issue was the shower door rollers kept coming loose, just life cycle replacement needs attention at some point. I could not fault any of the cleaning at all and that's very rare for me due to being a cleaning trainer for the NHS, hotels, schools and offices for 20 years. I meet some of the cleaning first thing on the morning and they were also very polite and always smiling. The bar area was comfortable, clean, all the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant-bar is excellent, large portions, presented beautifully and very tasty...... 😋 I didn't have the breakfast , so i can't comment on that... Thank you so much for making me feel welcome, especially when I'm here on my own. I will miss coming here when my business in Northallerton comes to an end 😊

Latte coffee (with extra shot) allegedly large but certainly only medium, small piece of mass produced poor quality cake....£9.05 !!!!! Massively over priced. Waited to be seated and waited to give my order while the member of staff who should have been serving me filled in her paperwork and chatted with staff. My coffee when it arrived was covered in coffee grounds and was undrinkable. I took it back and the woman who served me was very polite apologised and served me quickly with another one. I must say she was the ONLY staff member who showed any customer care at all. If you want over priced drinks and cake along with a poor attitude from staff then pay them a visit. Otherwise I suggest giving them a wide berth!!

We hebben net samen met vrienden voortreffelijk geluncht. Alle gerechten waren verrassend en super lekker. Is echt de (zeer korte) omweg waard.
