Enjoyed a delightful breakfast time visit albeit we had small snacks. This place has a magical atmosphere especially this time of the year (Christmas) Visited with my brother who was in need of a special treat at the moment. He loved it and said his scone was ‘OUT OF THIS WORLD’ just what the doctor ordered! The staff were exceptionally friendly especially Lauren who is a tremendous asset to this fine establishment.

They often close half an hour before their advertised closing time, or 50 minutes as last Sunday, people turn up every Weekend only to be turned away after driving miles, because; " We've been too busy" or "We've been too quiet " It's ridiculous, either stick to your advertised hours or change them.

I presume this is the same as the excellent Lord Stones cafe which is a superb starting / finish point for a trick in this wonderful corner of the Moors including the incredible vistas atop Cringle End. Good food, excellent coffee, nice ambience and excellent service.

Just back from two nights away , there were 9 of us in total . Three pods and one round house . Cannot fault the accommodation, an enjoyable experience. The problem came as the kitchen had a fault on Friday early evening. No hot food was available . We were reassured that the problem would be rectified the following morning . Unfortunately it was not . No incline that the evening meals would also be out of action My issue is we were not your normal campers and had booked with the intention of eating in the restaurant and that's why we booked . We did not go equipped to cook on the barbecues. If we had been informed earlier in the day we could of purchased items for the barbecue . On turning up to eat we were only greeted by a message on the door informing all that the kitchen was closed. I feel the establishment could of maybe offered a barbecue alternative as they have the facilities to cook outdoors in front of the restaurant in a lovely covered in area.. All the local pubs, restaurants( within driving distance ) were fully booked so crisps and whatever we had between us had to be consumed. I am aware this was an unforseen circumstance but a little information. Maybe a note pushed under the pods/ round house or even an email informing us would off enabled us to make alternative arrangements. Communication was non existent and unfortunately it impacted on our break away . I do not normally review , but I think it is a point that could be took forward as a company trying to build its business and look at contingency plans moving forward . Thank You

Finished a brutal 20 mile training run in preparation for the Hardmoors 55 mile race and was really hungry. Gave them a call at 12.45 Sunday lunchtime and they promised to squeeze us in. We arrived 15 minutes later and the place was rammed with the staff very busy. It was a beautiful day. To their credit we were seated promptly and in no time were supping much needed hot coffees with our roast beef arriving shortly after. Just a word on the beef, it is locally grown and a speciality cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth. You won't find a better Sunday lunch anywhere. In summary, brilliant attentive staff even on a very busy day amazing food and great hot drinks. Highly recommended.

Not worth the money. Advertised poached eggs on sourdough bread. No sourdough served came with brown bread toast. When questioned waitress said they were out of sourdough. Why was this not advised on ordering? Poached eggs like bullets. Other breakfast was a full Yorkshire. Again served without one of the advertised ingredients missing and again when queried waitress stated they had run out. Why was this not advised on ordering. Portions on the Yorkshire breakfast were small. 4 button mushrooms and a tablespoon of baked beans. Waitress asked if the meal was ok and when told no answered, “very busy morning.” Very disappointing all round.

We stayed in Lordstone and decided to have a meal in the resturant. It was quiet simply the best food I have eaten in such a long time. Our only draw back was that due to covid it was only open the night night we were there (which is understandable) as we could have quiet happily eaten in there all three night. We are already planning on heading back to the resturant to try something different on the menu. We had the fillet and the beef burger and both were truly mouth watering.

Visited the Yorkshire Moore’s for a weekend during July. The experience and campsite was riddled with problems from arrival which almost certainly would deter us from staying again or recommending the campsite. Issues: 1: Upon arrival, it was unclear where to check in, upon entering the cafe the lady (who we can only imagine was the camp manger) was dismissive and unwelcoming, this nature carried on for the rest of our stay, asking questions seemed an inconvenience. 2: We were not informed that all taps were out of service on the campsite. 3: Whilst cars are allowed to be on site for unloading, they are not allowed to stay on site, this was not made clear during booking. Respectfully, this was more of an inconvenience for us due to a small tent. 4: The pitches are small and unclear in terms of spacing, apart from being told you can pitch to the right of your designated post. As a result you are very close to other tents which can consequently be loud- especially not desirable if you have young children. 5: The cafe was expensive for quality (almost £9 for 2 small coffees and a slice of cake) and not something to write home about. The lady at the till also seemed to be dismissive and came across as quite rude, she seemed too busy doing nothing to serve. Strengths 1: The public footpaths and bridle ways are of excellent access with great views to be seen. 2: The majority of staff were friendly and helpful, maintaining COVID-19 business protocols effectively the whole time. 3: The steak from the shop is very good. 4: Toilet facilities were clean. Whilst I personally do not recommended the campsite and cafe, the walks are lovely and parking is free.

We visited here recently one Friday evening. Having waited a few weeks to get the time slot we wanted we expected it to be busy. We were shown into an empty restaurant (not a good sign in my opinion) We were pounced on almost before we got sat down to ask what we wanted to drink (which I hate), food arrived, and considering the rave reviews I had read I didn't think it lived up to it. Nobody came to ask if we were satisfied (and its not as though it was busy as the full tables matched the front of house staff - 3), eventually a member of staff came and asked us if we wanted more drinks and to see the dessert menu which we did. After sitting there for approx another 15 minutes with nobody coming back we got up and went to the desk to pay. Only then did they ask if we were satisfied (which we weren't) but they were too busy checking their mobile phones and chatting to care about the customers. Doubt we will return.

We were 2 groups who stayed in the pods for a long w.e, the smell around there is disgusting from what i assume is the tank or drains. The staff in the bar are not very polite, we ordered drinks and she took a phone call and walked off without saying anything! rude Breakfast after we ordered they informed us they had no black pudding or mushrooms and when it arrived they didn't add anything to compensate when we still paid full price, when we asked the waitress seem surprised we asked about it? Also no full veggie breakfast and why arn't dogs allowed in the cafe for such a place Nobody in the shop to pass comments onto when we checked out and also although we were in a 4 birth pod we were charged a extra £15 for a second set of bedding. Nice location but needs to improve before i go back

Have not been to Lordstones for a while so after a nice moorland walk thought we would drop in. We wish we had not bothered, the milk was off & floated on top of our tea which we pointed out to the staff but were told "the milk was fresh that day & was a little fatty". We also had a bacon bun each which was average not up to the standard they used to be. We spend most of our time eating out at restaurants cafe's etc but will not be returning here for sour milk & poor staff. This is the first time in years I have not left a tip at home or abroad. My tip to all is avoid this place they need to get back the values they used to have.

Arrived Friday afternoon for a 2 night stay in one of the yurts. Nice greeting and found the place tidy and clean. Had a very nice dinner at the resteraunt on Friday night. Then off to the yurt again. As it was now getting darker tried to turn on all lights and found the fairy lights not working so a little dissapointed. Not wanting to walk back to resteraunt did not report. Put down sofa bed (which is actually a rather uncomftable futon) and found a used pillow case behind it. They need to make sure cleaners are checking behind/under things and checking fixtures before each guest. So Saturday morning no hand towel working in toilet block. Also no one had emptied bins on campsite so they were getting rather full Saturday night a lordstones bbq.. the bbq itself was lovely and the live band amazing. However the campsite was booked way over capacity for the facilities and camping block toilets opened for all during event 3 toilets only. This meant on leaving the event having to go make them aware of no toilet roll in the loos. They made no cleaning of the loos that night. Coming down to the loos Sunday morning and they had still not been cleaned and restocked with paper! Went to use facilities inside bar and told them no loo roll. So lady closed the shop where lots of people were waiting for drinks to go restock. Restocked loo roll but still no cleaning! Overall if you are going to have an event of that size the toilet block should be checked straight after event and restocked and should have been cleaned first thing in the morning ready for the campers use. By Sunday morning the bins both in the campsite and around the toilet block were overflowing. Other than these issues I found the site very nice and staff friendly but to hold big events you have work to do

My wife and I have visited Lordstones cafe on several occasions and over the years have found it a pleasant experience. We decided to call for lunch today, and we unfortunately agree with some of the comments left regarding the attitude of some members of staff. Whilst eating lunch we heard a member of staff sat behind us use foul language. We didn't feel to be made welcome. The food was ok, my wife had the ham sandwich which was very nice. However my steak sandwich was lacking steak! When we paid the bill the lady asked if everything was ok and I mentioned that the ratio of steak to bread meant that I was unable to hardly taste the steak. She made no apology, just saying she would mention it to the kitchen. Her attitude made us think criticism was not liked, but why ask if all is ok if you don't want an honest reply! Won't be returning in a hurry.

After a lovely 2 hours spent walking over the hills we planned to visit the cafe for a breakfast. Out of courtesy we popped back to the car first to change our muddy boots and then waited at the bar for a little while to be directed to a seat or handed a menu. We found breakfast menus on the bar and noticed the lady behind the bar handing them out so we grabbed one and asked if we needed to order at the bar. We were told no and that our order would he taken at the table. There was nothing on the breakfast menu to say when they stopped serving and given that breakfast menus were being handed out we assumed it must still be on. After a little while the waiter came over and asked what we would like and we asked for 2 full English breakfasts, only to be told that they stop serving breakfasts at 11 and they were only doing sausage or bacon sandwiches. We pointed out that we had sat down before 11 and were waiting for our order to be taken but were told again that breakfasts stop at 11. It was 11.03am. A sausage sandwich costs £4.50 which seems fairly steep so we decided not to bother and to go to Sam Turners instead! I get that they need to prepare for Sunday lunches but why not tell customers that when handing out breakfast menus... and if the waiter had come over 3 minutes earlier we'd have gotten our breakfasts. Won't be returning!

Went sledging today up Carlton bank. Weather conditions got hairy so took our 3 kids into the restaurant for hot drinks and something light as we were having a Sunday dinner with family later on. Were seated at 2pm. Asked waiter for a high chair whilst juggling wet coats, scarves, an 8 yr old, 2 yr old and a baby. He brought it over and left it next to the table not properly assembled (think he knew this but couldnt be bothered to faff about with it so left me to do it myself). Drink orders took straight away and arrived after a short wait. We then ordered one soup and sandwich to share between the kids. After a 25 min wait from ordering the food we decided enough was enough and that we would leave. As I was getting coats etc, waiter asked "did your soup arrive?" I said no but that we had waited too long and were leaving. He then said "it is coming now" and pointed to the kitchen. (If he knew that, why ask if our food had come?) We then went to pay. Waitress tried to charge my husband for the food aswell. He explained and paid for the drinks only. She was apologetic but not enough to knock some money off the drinks bill (£12 for a coffee and 3 hot chocolates). I complained about the poor service last time too. Could be nice as food, location, decor etc are good. They need to pay a bit more to get decent staff in. Oh and there were several staff in and we were one of two parties in the restaurant on this visit. No excuse really. Joke.

Who on earth is giving this delightful restaurant any less than 5-stars??? They must be from another planet! I first visited this rustic little hideaway a few years ago and must admit that I wasn't blown away. But things have clearly drastically changed for the better recently. The restaurant is cosy and dripping in natural oak fittings and furniture, and the staff are friendly and approachable. Oh, and did I forget to mention the food? - Top class restaurant quality, served swiftly and without a fuss. Visited for Sunday lunch with my husband, parents and 18 month old grandson. I ordered drinks at the bar along with four Sunday lunches. My grandson is gluten and dairy free so I explained and asked if he could just have a couple of potatoes and a few carrots. I explained I had a flask with his 'special' gravy with me and that I would be happy, of course, to pay the full child's menu price. The girl who took the order frowned and said she would need to check with the kitchen . When she returned she said no, we can't do that. I asked why ever not, as these items were clearly on the Sunday lunch menu. She simply refused and would give no explanation, needless to say, left with no other option, we left feeling very annoyed and went in search of a more sympathetic eatery. Luckily we stumbled across the Black Ox in Carlton village who served us a superb Sunday lunch. They gave my grandson a medley of beautifully prepared vegetables and even offered to make some gluten free gravy. What a contrast to Lord Stones - shame on you!!

After a lovely rainy Bank Holiday Monday walk we came in for lunch. The menu is limited and inflexible. Our son wanted a 'cheese burger' the waitress could only accommodate this if we bought the adult burger and stripped it if bacon and onions , at £5.00 more expensive . We were told the children's burger was plain and as the "don't do crappy cheese" ( yes that's what the waitress actually said in front of my two children) they couldn't add cheese to the children's burger. ( not sure why they couldn't add whatever 'none crappy cheese' used on the adult burger on it ?? ) . My other son asked for a panini , again they couldn't accommodate his unusual request of cheese & ham as the panini of the day was salami and rocket. Again I'm slightly bemused as they serve ham sandwiches so they had the ingredients available. Real shame and I'm still astounded that the waitress used the word 'crappy' very unprofessional !

Came here to stay in one of the pods, we checked in around 3pm had a walk about some great views North Yorkshire moors. The pod was good had a bench and a BBQ outside that we fired up for tea. We had our little 3 year old with us and we soon realised the place wasn't really for children of that age and he started getting a little bored. The problem for us was there was no signal where the pods are situated so we could stream any music. Our fault really though should have come more prepared. We where at a loose end by 7pm and the little one started getting a bit whingy. With no Tv or internet connection we were struggling so we ended up not staying and driving back home. It's a nice place but it won't be to everyone's liking , I would say it's more for ramblers and people who want to be cut off from the outside world for a day or 2.

Another very pleasant visit to catch up with friends. Bacon or sausage sandwiches with sides of chips and lots of good cups of tea. Unfortunately the road up to Lordstones marked as closed and the diversion sign pointed up a private drive. We drove up to see if we could get as far as the café and found that the road was blocked by yellow line painters just before the car park entrance. We were given no indication as to how we could access the café so we parked - off the road - and walked on the woodland path to get there. On returning to our cars we found we had been given a parking ticket. The line had only been painted two hours earlier so this seemed to have been a deliberate ploy. Plus we were not parked on the road. Just want to warn everyone not to park on the verge up there where the new yellow lines have been put in.

Lovely setting, even better if you have time for a walk. We went for lunch this time but we have previously had breakfast at Lord Stones. Our food was fine but service was slow despite the restaurant being quiet.

Having had a beautiful scone and coffee prior to going for a walk we decided to book a table for lunch. Our table was booked for 13.15 we were seated by 13.10 and our order of roast beef and roast pork were taken relatively quickly. We then had a long wait for our food to arrive (it arrived at 14.00) with no apology for our wait. The cafe was busy but it would have been courteous to offer an apology. The food when it arrived was luke warm, the beef was so tough I had difficulty cutting it and had to leave some. The Yorkshire pudding I'm sorry to say is the worst I've ever had, it was cold, tough and the inside was a thick dough like consistency hence this also was left. My husbands pork was also a little tough but tasty. When the waitress took our plates she asked if everything was ok so I told her that the beef was extremely tough. She did apologise and returned with the bill, only for us to find we had been charged for a coffee that we hadn't ordered. Having pointed out the mistake we were offered a very insincere sounding apology. We would not hesitate to return for scones and coffee but would not return for a hot meal.

my partner and I stayed for one night in pod 1 for a quick break, absolutely loved the surroundings and our walk to the falconers seat. we used the BBQ for our tea and the cafe for our breakfast the night day which we really enjoyed. Lovely clean shower block. The only fault I had with my stay was I felt as though our pod had not been checked/cleaned before we arrived, the three bins provided still had rubbish in from the previous visitors the fridge had leftover milk in there and there was rubbish on the worktop. I also noticed our neighbour pod was vacant throughout or stay but stayed the way it was again left from the previous visitors (sofa bed down and rubbish inside). This won't stop me from visiting again I hope this feedback gets back to the right people to help improve future stays.

Wow, has this place expanded and gone upmarket since we were last here. We were lucky to visit on a sunny day, and so could enjoy the view from the outside tables. We both had roast beef sandwiches - mine served hot on a toasted baguette, wifey's in a normal sandwich. Wifey's was the slightly better of the two, but both were appreciated.

Decided to eat out, 20 mins up the Road, went for tempura king prawns starter, and we both had the Bacon Cheese Burger with fries for main meal, been promising myself a burger for a while, wasn't let down, Prawns were plenty and superb, Burgers well, my Grandson is the authority on Burgers and they both went down well. Beautifully prepared. Was no room for dessert unfortunately. Great place, great staff, great food. Until the next time Lordstones. Tyvm.

I have just visited Lordstones where I politely stood at the sign and waited to be seated. When the chaotic servers realised I was there I was asked "can I help you?" Like I was trespassing. After explaining that I would like a table, the server just shook her head and said "No! We can't seat you, you'll have to go somewhere else because you didn't make a reservation and it's the bank holiday, thanks, bye". Whilst smirking and shaking her head.Oh. my. God. So rude! So dismissive! She didn't even offer one of the outside tables. As I was waiting for my child to come out of toilet, the server passed and said "if you want to hang about I might be able to sit you in an hour or so...maybe".So we left. There are better, nicer places to eat.

We stopped in here for refreshment when walking a reasonably tough section of the C2C Path. It was very busy, it being Sunday on a bank holiday weekend, so we made do with just coffee to supplement our packed lunches. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my flat white coffee, perhaps in part due to the fact that my last one was several days ago.Regardless I would recommend it to other walkers as the food looked wholesome too, although the service could probably be better.

Stayed for one night after kids decided they wanted to test the tent. This is a really nice place to camp . Site is well kept with good facilities and camping is close to really nice walks. Cafe/restaurant/shop on site which were really nice. We had coffee and cake and staff were lovely and beers and food I couldn't fault. This is a great place with yurts, pods and tent sites and I thought it was great. Food looked nice from restaurant and I will give it a go when next there. Beautiful part of the world

We went to the Lord Stones for lunch. The restaurant was busy so we expected a bit of a wait. However when the food came, the chips were cold as was my wife's spinach & ricotta caneloni which also lacked seasoning. No salt on the table and most of the salt grinders contained damp salt which didn't come out. Very disappointing meal compared with past experiences at the Lord Stones.

Lordstones is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, the North Yorkshire moors. Today the weather was perfect for a walk across the tops. Once we had worked up an appetite we visited Lordstones restaurant and ordered Sunday lunch. We waited approximately 15 minutes to be served, which was fine because the place was extremely busy. Our meal was nothing short of first class, delicious meat, well cooked and varied veggies and the biggest Yorkshire puds we'd ever seen. The staff are great, they were all working flat out (the good weather had brought out so many people) but they served us with smiles. This is a great place, I wish we lived closer.

Visited on a sunny Mothers Day and although busy it wasn't crowded, with lots of room to walk and admire the views. People picnicking, and just enjoying the location. The wonderful lady in charge found a small table for my mother and I and looked after us superbly. People coming and going so if you wanted a sunny outside table you didn't wait long.

9 of us had a very good mother's day meal and the service was excellent... until it came to paying! There was a queue to order food, for both indoor and out meals, and we were expected to join this to pay for our meals. After a long wait (possibly 10 minutes), we eventually got to the front of the queue. We then had to work out who owed what so then had to wait again to pay, once we had done this. I mentioned the problem to the young girl on the till who just smiled and shrugged and apologised. This was really not good enough and would make me think twice before paying another visit.

Went for a Sunday lunch meal. The roast beef looked delicious but unfortunately it needed to be ordered in advance - I'll have to go again to try it !Cafe was busy but had reserved a table. Brocolli soup was very tasty. Then quiche and chips. Very tasty food and reasonable prices.Afterwards had a look round the gift shop and a walk to the Lord stones (not as big as I had expected. ) Fantastic views over the Tees Valley from the top of the escarpment. Would recommend booking Sunday lunch in advance and taking a pair of walking boots to admire the view.

We found Lord stones on Tuesday whilst out for a ride & decided on a coffee & a sandwich. Our order taken quickly with coffee arriving not long after with the waitress advising the sandwiches wouldn't be long. Unfortunately these took about 20 minutes by which time we had drunk most of our coffee. I appreciate it was a very busy period but it would have been a more enjoyable experience to have had them both together or maybe an offer off another cup! The sandwiches were superb but we weren't offered cutlery to eat the side salad with. Would call again as all the food we saw looked really good.

Stopped off at the cafe at Lord Stones yesterday whilst out for a ride on our motorbike. The cafe was very busy but we were able to get a table straight away and our food order was taken a short time later. We ordered the soup (tomato and basel) and a club sandwich, (with side salad and fries) and drinks. There was a slight delay in the order arriving but given how busy it was we expected a longer wait. The soup was piping hot and delicious and the club sandwich and extras was 'almost' too much to manage, but we knuckled down and managed to finish both .Overall an excellent lunch at a reasonable price and provided by friendly and helpful staff. We shall no doubt be visiting again over the coming months.

From start to finish the whole expeience was amazing, the food is out of this world and they certainly do not skrimp on portion sizes. There was 20 of us so we thought it would take quote a while to sort food although we did pre order, service was 5* and i would have no problem recommending this place for a meal. Me and hubby are off in a couple of weeks and are thinking of going back for afternoon tea as a treat.Definatley WELL WORTH GOING HERE 5* all the way . We visited for tea and scones. The cafe was very busy but there was a table for four being cleared. We sat and waited for our order to be taken but eventually had to go to the bar to ask for service. Order of tea, hot chocolate and cheese scones was eventually taken. Tea and scones arrived. Followed by hot chocolate which was not hot. The scones were ok but would have been significantly nicer had they been warm. All the time we were there tables were not cleared. One large group eventually cleared their own table. The cafe was severely understaffed, service was slow and I will think twice before visiting again.

I had never visited Lord Stones before but have been enjoying my recent walking trips with my well behaved Labrador. Sadly however after doing a 35 minute drive to Lord stones - having a beautiful 10km walk around the moors. When visiting the cafe (which on the website says "All are most welcome from cyclists to walkers and dog walkers") I was most upset when I found the sign on the door saying "Guide Dogs Only".The phrase "Dog walkers" are welcome implies their canine companions are also welcomed (otherwise they would just be "walkers").This sadly put a sour note on our trip as while the food was delicious - having to eat outside, my well earned lunch went stone cold within minutes as well as my finger tips which somewhat ruined my dining experience!Your website is very misleading on how "welcoming" you are to dog walkers and it would be better phrased that "Dog walkers are welcome in the outside seating area" (as is common with most places with outside seating area which personally I don't think qualifies you to advertise as dog walker friendly).A year on they are still advertising as Dog Walker friendly when they certainly are not. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have been caught out by this.

I had lunch there yesterday. I chose the mixed pepper quiche with chips and salad. I thought it sounded healthy and tasty. What I got was a slice of quiche that wainedible...it was so burnt it should never have been served. The salad comprised of rocket leaves with dressing ( salad in my books comprises of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber etc) and fries not chips. Naturally, I returned the meal pointing out what was wrong and I asked for another slice of quiche. The second slice looked less burnt but on tasting it tasted dry and had no flavour at all. The 'chips' were returned stone cold and of course the salad was just a joke. Needless to say it didn't get eaten. After two mouthfuls I gave up. It was vile. Anyway we were offered 10% off the meal and free drinks (2coffees). No recompense really when I had to go elsewhere for another meal.

We called for Sunday breakfast on our way over to Yarm [yes we detoured specially!]. We were warmly welcomed by young & friendly staff, shown to our table & cheerfully supplied with menus. My husband ordered the Full Yorkshire while I chose Porridge.... tea was brought immediately & our food arrived soon after. The Full Yorkshire was just that, well presented & piping hot & my husband polished it all off with relish declaring it to be excellent quality & tasting wonderful. My bowl of thick & creamy rustic porridge drizzled with honey was just perfect & set me up for the day!! We can't wait to return....but what to choose....Sunday Lunch, Afternoon tea? We are sure it will be just delicious!! Full marks to the friendly & efficient staff, including the lady in the deli shop....well done all of you.

We recently paid a visit here for the first time for awhile. We used to walk our dogs here on a regular basis and then call for a bacon sandwich at the cafe. We always enjoyed it but it was very basic and the outside toilets were really grim!So we could not believe the changes made under the new owners: fabulous new cafe/restaurant with an extended menu and now selling alcohol too. And the toilets....indoors and positively luxurious! In addition they now have a lovely shop, camping pods and even yurts. The whole area is now considerably smartened up and more enticing. The only downside was that the walk we had been doing for years, down to the little lake, was now fenced off and we couldn't figure out why.But everything else about the place was fabulous ....a great trip out, with or without dogs. And we are led to believe they have BBQs with live music some Friday nights, but we couldn't find any details on the website. But in the whole a really lovely place to visit.

I have been here for the last 3 weeks on business for 2 nights a week, still 3 weeks to go 😀 Lovely welcome by everyone who has been on reception on all my visits, very helpful, friendly and they go that extra mile to help. The rooms I've stayed in so far are ( 2-10 and 31) which were very clean, cosy and well presented with everything you needed, Iron, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. The only little issue was the shower door rollers kept coming loose, just life cycle replacement needs attention at some point. I could not fault any of the cleaning at all and that's very rare for me due to being a cleaning trainer for the NHS, hotels, schools and offices for 20 years. I meet some of the cleaning first thing on the morning and they were also very polite and always smiling. The bar area was comfortable, clean, all the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant-bar is excellent, large portions, presented beautifully and very tasty...... 😋 I didn't have the breakfast , so i can't comment on that... Thank you so much for making me feel welcome, especially when I'm here on my own. I will miss coming here when my business in Northallerton comes to an end 😊

Latte coffee (with extra shot) allegedly large but certainly only medium, small piece of mass produced poor quality cake....£9.05 !!!!! Massively over priced. Waited to be seated and waited to give my order while the member of staff who should have been serving me filled in her paperwork and chatted with staff. My coffee when it arrived was covered in coffee grounds and was undrinkable. I took it back and the woman who served me was very polite apologised and served me quickly with another one. I must say she was the ONLY staff member who showed any customer care at all. If you want over priced drinks and cake along with a poor attitude from staff then pay them a visit. Otherwise I suggest giving them a wide berth!!

Visited as a couple 7 March. We were staying in the hotel. Ambience was good. The eating area could perhaps do with a bit of updating but it is fine. Menu is a mix of pub classics and more adventurous dishes. I had one of the latter as a starter, Lamb Tagine Roll with harissa mayo and smoked aubergine purée. Very good. The roll had chunks of lamb and the mayo had a kick. Tasted and presented very well. I had steak and ale pie for main. Appeared home made with real chips. Again very good Mrs W had the pork belly which she enjoyed too. We had a very nice bottle of NZ Sav Blanc as well. Very good value.
