The best restaurants in Hessle East Riding of Yorkshire Yorkshire and The Humber

My friend & I called in here for the first time last Wednesday at around 11.00 am. We were greeted by pleasant friendly staff who answered any questions we had. We sat down at a table & studied the spoilt for choice menu, which had plenty to choose from, so something for everyone. All the food is home cooked & well presented. My friend ordered the homemade quiche which came with well presented side salad & a dish of freshly fried proper chip. I opted for the cheeseburger 🍔, again came with a nice side salad & chips. We also had a pot of tea. We both agreed the food was exceptionally good & reasonably priced too. We can't find fault with this little cafe & would give 10 out of 10. It's clean, the staff are friendly. We didn't have to wait too long either. So just want to say a big thank you. The only thing I will say, I think you should rename to Boomerang Kitchen as we will keep going back.

My partner and I have visted gatehouse many times since opening, it is fair to say it is one of our favourite places to eat now. We where slightly sceptical when it fisrt opened due to the previous restaurant that occupied the building, the new owners havent done to much to the decor so still feels rather empty but still cosy and inviting. On out last visit my wife had the fish and chips as always and i tried the house steak for the first time, i have to say it was perfectly cooked and was very tender and flavoursom, the chips where to die for too (but i already knew that as we both normally have the fish and chips). The food and drinks are reasonably priced especially for the area and compared to what other restaurants locally charge. My only slightly negative is there is no draught beer but still a good choice of bottles. Overall a very good place to dine out for any occasion.

This is my favourite place for lunch in the whole of East Riding/Hull. The sandwiches are absolutely amazing and you can really have anything you want. So much care clearly goes into the food you get and there’s so many options. I have ordered online and been in store and the quality is no different. The gentleman who runs the bakery is so kind and helpful. There is a huge selection of cheese to buy as well as bread and other treats. I could not recommend this place any more if you fancy a good sandwich. The bread, meat and even salad is such quality. Please order from this place!

First time eating at the Greek in hessle and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Got the mixed grill sharing platter for two and it was lovely, staff all very friendly and atmosphere nice.

The girl on check out is really friendly and efficient, they go above and beyond service. Food is excellent. Highly recommended

We arrived at 1pm and were sat immediately in a booth which was fine. We had to sit 32 minutes before we had our drink and food order taken. We ordered Taco and Empanadas as starters, which were delivered 5 minutes apart? Next was the sharing platter, this was "AMAZING" not just your normal Sunday spread, but lots of added extra flavours. The Cauliflower that we ordered as a side was "FANTASTIC" very flavourful indeed. If the staff had a little more enthusiasm then this would be a perfect little eatery.

We went for Sunday lunch on the 2nd February 2025 after booking our table for 15.30pm when we got to the bar I ordered our drinks and said we've got a table booked and was asked did we book one which I said yes for 15.30 we ended up getting a table.we ordered our food at 16.00 pm and after 30 minutes I asked were our food was she said she would check but never came back the next time we seen anyone there were taking the menus away as the cook closed the kitchen as he couldn't cope our food eventually arrived at 16.50 pm and a few minutes later a staff member came and asked if it was OK the reply was no the food is cold asked if we wanted it reheating the answer was no we want a refund which we got all I can say the portion of food on the plates is not worth the money you charge we've been using the hase for years so all I can say we won't be coming again just a shame as we enjoyed the food in there at one time by the way they can't be that bothered about the review don't care about there customers who's been using it years

The best cooked breakfast ive had in a very long time every was very good quality and all fresh lovely staff and lovely place definitely be visiting again
