"I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with an incident that occurred at your establishment during a recent visit for a friend's birthday. Despite being loyal patrons for over ten years, the owner approached our party, which included out-of-town guests, and made unacceptable remarks suggesting our presence would negatively impact the bar's reputation. This belittling behavior, particularly in front of our guests, was deeply offensive and unacceptable."

The food was absolutely incredible for the price. Much better than your average pub grub! The Barman was lovely and funny. The only tiny downside was the serving staff looked uninterested and didn't really interact with us at all!

Your classic micro pub where the beer selection caters for everyone, rotates so often you won't keep up, and and kept superbly. Staff excellect along with the clientelle - whether you want to read your paper in peace or join in on the numerous conversations floating around. Highly recommended.

Lovely meal and service, parking is problematic as they're located on the high street with no private parking

Traditional style Ossett Brewery pub. I think it's a typical traditional pub with a homely feeling.

Jezz was lovely made sure we always had a drink, give her a raise!

Second time we have been now- the first time my family came to visit from a couple hours away and they requested that we book hare and hounds again as they loved it so much the first time! Food is amazing and really well priced. The staff are all so lovely and accommodating. 10/10.

Lovely food in a lovely old building with lots of character. We all had the 2 courses £16.95 menu and all enjoyed the meal. Very large portions and was served by a lovely lady. I would award 5 stars except the dining room was very cold despite the heating being on. We will definitely return especially as it’s within walking distance from the town centre.

Volvimos a nuestro alojamiento esperando que la comida estuviera disponible. Nos sentamos en el jardín y tomamos una copa mientras miramos el menú y esperamos que el servicio de comida comience a las 5 pm. Nos ofrecieron una mesa aunque no habíamos reservado con antelación. El restaurante se llenó rápidamente y es obviamente un restaurante muy popular. Las chicas que servían eran todas amables y profesionales. Nuestra orden fue tomada rápidamente y la comida estaba con nosotros en aproximadamente 20 minutos - recién cocinado y agradable y caliente. Las comidas eran buenas y bien presentadas. Decidimos tener el plato de compartir de postre -era enorme pero logramos terminarlo entre nosotros : ) Fabulosa comida y sin duda recomendaría.

A lovely little pub tucked away on the back road to Ilkley. A very nice warm and welcoming atmosphere with attentive friendly staff. I only had a drink but the menu looks good and I have eaten here in the past and the food was great on that occasion. This is not a hotel to my knowledge.

This is just the Best chippy in the world. Not only is the food to die for but, it's cooked to order. The proprietor is really nice and down to earth, conversation is good and service great. As a driver I was given a discount, which is very nice these days and very much appreciated. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone in York looking for that little extra special experience for fish and chips. Looking forward to going again when in York, as this is my go to place for food when in the area now.

Probably the best pub you'll visit in Yorkshire, lovely food, fabulous staff, a proper unspoilt English pub... perfect in every way.

Came here around a year before and the food was awful, but we came back due to it being a family birthday dinner, and the location was chosen by someone else so I was hopefull it might be better. Well it was worse. A group of 10+ people on a long table that would make anyone feel claustrophobic.  Food was ordered in 3 groups but at the same time, all the food came out at different times even food a same order came out at different times. Waitress came out with food no one had ordered, so that got sent back. 3 people were left with no food for 15 minutes whilst everyone else got theirs. The waitress had to ask us all "what's missing." After those 15 mins,2 out of 3 people got their food finally. My partners was the only food missing which took almost 15 more minutes. Once received, everyone else had basically finished theirs, but the actual meat was stone cold. I don't mean it was lukewarm, it was actually cold like it's been in the fridge for an hour.  I have never seen anything like it in any restaurant I've been it. It was like an episode of Hells Kitchen, just without Gordan Ramsay swearing in the background.  At this stage I was just angry and just took the entire meal to the bar and said we don't want it and we want the money back. We got a refund, and it basically ruined the experience. Not only that but the food we did get wasn't nice, I'm puzzled how so many people claim the food is good when the burgers are tasteless grease, the chips are flavourless and barely cooked, to me it's inedible.  To top off the entire experience, I now seem to have food poisoning the following day, so thank you.  Birthday invite or not, I won't be returning here.
