The George in North Lincolnshire

visited the George for dinner, dining room is a bit dismal being a dark shade of green however the food and the service were far for from dismal, portions were very generous, food was absolutely fabulous and service was outstanding

Food is probably the best among the villages Service is excellent and atmosphere is not bad at all ..

Me and my partner went to the George, we had the bbq fritter for starter which was amazing and we both had the burger for main which again was perfect! The atmosphere was nice and cosy. The guy who was serving us was lovely and very attentive, we didn’t get to say thank you as we left so thank youu! We will definitely be returning

Went for an overnight stay so we had an evening meal and breakfast. The food we had was top quality. The evening meal was amazing and something you would get in a high end restaurant. The hospitality was great too and couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be returning

Our meals were excellent only one disappointment for my husband was the choice of vegetable to serve with the peppered steak pie , mange tout just doesn’t cut it for him with a pie and gravy ! Anything would have been better he says from all the lovely vegetables they could have chosen !

Booked for a birthday meal at 8.30 on a Wednesday. They took the booking and we arrived just before. We were immediately rushed and told the kitchen closed at 8.30 so we needed to order. Luckily we had already decided mains but were looking at starters. I asked whether we would still be able to order puddings and were told we could. After the meal we asked for the menu and were advised the kitchen was closed. We argued this but the waitress was adamant this the case. As we paid, the person at the bar told us this isn't the case. I won't be going back.

Probably the best steak pie I've had. Service was good food amazing and considering there was a part of 20 in at the same time we didn't lose any quality

Fantastic Sunday roast in a nice setting. The staff were great, the food was excellent. The lamb and the beef were cooked to perfection, the gravy was delicious and service was really quick. Highly recommend

Very welcoming staff and we were extremely happy with our room. It was a very popular place. Gutted we missed the food there as it looked amazing. We left early the next day and they went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast was very good. I just wandered across the road for a newspaper. So a relaxing start to the day. We were on the top floor which was great but made us realise how unfit we are..

The George has a great atmosphere. The food was outstanding. I had beef roast, meat was very tender, pink and tasted amazing. Presented on a bed of mashed potato. Large yorkshire pud and roasted carrot. Other veg on a side dish. This has to be one of the best roast beef meals ive ever tasted. Reasonable prices. Book your self a table at The George, im sure you'll be impressed. Easy parking to the front of the George Pub.

After a few recommendations we decided to give The George a try. Wow, we really have been missing out. Went on a Thursday evening and it was bustling. Great atmosphere in the bar and nice and chilled in the lounge/ restaurant. We were met and seated by Jasmine (Top top waiter) who helped us through the menu (including running back to the kitchen to check something for us). We had 3 courses and the food……. For a pub …. Was absolutely superb. I’ve paid twice that in other places for lesser quality. Portion size, taste, presentation all quality and even the sides (get the crushed new potatoes and bacon) were sooo good. The chefs (think there are 4 including Kieran and Jake?) Clearly all get on and it shows in the food. I cannot recommend this place enough….. we will definitely be going back soon. Can’t believe this little gem has been so close and we have only just found out about it. Perfect for a celebration or just because you love great food and great service. Well done all at the George. Excellent food, average prices , plenty on the plate, good choices and there is a separate menu for vegan/ gf etc. I had pea and Asparagus risotto with gf bread with herb oil....tasted like an up market fried bread, very moreish ! Serving staff were lovely, didn't hound you but had to seek them out for coffee order. Quite dark and atmospheric.

Great room, great food, great staff and great location.

First time eating at the George on Tuesday 6th August. 4 of us. Food was hot, fresh and well presented. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Setting is nice. Lovely outdoor area too. The pavlova was exceptional. The 20%offer was good too. Definitely will eat there again soon.

Excellent place to stay, the food was amazing and good value that includes breakfast and we ate twice in restaurant. Had a great meal with wonderful food. Wife had her birthday and if you bring ID you can get the birthday meal for free. One of the best steak pies I’ve ever had. Other meals were fantastic too.

We had a lovely Sunday roast today. I had the beef and my husband had the lamb. The food was served on hot plates, everything was fresh and very tasty and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend this pub.

Great place to go for a Sunday roast, me and the wife look forward to our trips there.

The George was great. We had a table for 12 as a pre-wedding night family night out. Food was all freshly prepared, so it takes a little longer but not much longer. Everone enjoyed the food. No negatives, but it was very busy (a good thing). And we were close to the bar so it was difficult for staff and customers squeezing past us. Great place, great service. Highly recommended. Some family stayed over as well and they liked the rooms.

Nice hotel, lovely staff evening food was great, only problem was the room was upstairs on the corridor where the food comes out of the kitchen (which is upstairs), this was only a problem as the floor boards in the room and bed move every time someone walks past which is quite alot as the pub is busy for food and so quite noisy too till about 10

Superb menu choice, my belly pork didn't disappoint, absolutely delicious.My wife had a lamb dish that proved to be equally as good, and I was more than happy with the ale of choice, Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker!

Where to start the room was great we came here as we went into Lincoln. As someone who doesn’t eat breakfast I demolished 4 of the most perfectly cooked poached eggs and toast great staff really recommend staying here Thankyou to all the staff

We were so impressed with the Sunday lunch at the George - we booked based on good reviews as staying nearby at forest pines hotel for a weekend break with our 2 kids. The Sunday lunch was amazing, best cauliflower cheese ever and huge tasty portions - our girls loved it! Would defo go back

Wow!! Great location, great staff and great food. We were lucky to get a table for Sunday lunch. We had roast beef and roast chicken, with a side of cauliflower cheese. Honestly one of the best roast lunches we've had at a restaurant. Great flavour and well presented. Thank you.

Absolute gem of a place! The food is simply put, amazing. Definitely come here for the food and the people are so lovely. The rooms are good and very clean, it's in an old building so expect some quirks but otherwise a great place to stay too. Would come here again

Never stayed at the george but been going regular with family and friends to the restaurant. The sunday lunch is amazing, which is why we continue to return. Can not fault any part of it. Would recommend booking in advance as you could struggle to be seated if not.

Gorgeous setting, didn’t feel rushed, food portions are huge so prepare yourself 😆. I couldn’t manage to eat all my pie, and none of us needed a dessert - we only had mains.

If you are looking for a warm welcome, excellent food & a lovely relaxing room, this is the place to be. Free parking was an added bonus.

We were gifted a voucher for a 2 night stay, so booked this hotel with no expectations of how it may be. We'd read a lot of reviews, so were fairly confident. We wanted a quiet, restful, weekend! On arrival, we were met, and shown to our room by the friendly owners. We had room 1702, and it was beautiful. Big bay window out to the town square, very comfortable double bed, and a nice bathroom with shower and toilet. The room was always at a good temperature, and if it got too warm, opening the sash windows was easy. Kirton is such a lovely little town, that it wasn't an issue to have the windows open, as traffic is virtually non-existent! We booked a table for the evening, and I can tell you that the food was spectacular. Easily the best meal out that we've had in a long time. 3 courses with wine was very good value. My wife had the Bloody Mary Crayfish starter, and I had the Trio of Mushrooms on Sour Bread. We then moved on to the Wild Boar Lasagna, and the Seafood Linguine. My wife finished with the Eton Mess, whilst i treated myself to a double Jura! The food was exceptional. If i could go back and eat it again... This was a wonderful 2 night stay. We would highly recommend staying, and/or eating here. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. We're now hoping that we get the same present again....and may be back next February!!

What wife and I booked a table for the 20% off deal, on arrival we were made welcome and given a choice of tables. We have eaten at the George before and it was particularly good. I ordered the pepper steak pie which I had with a medley of vey and new potatoes in garlic butter. My wife ordered catch of the day which was haddock, this came with mushy peas chips and tartar sauce. The food and plates were hot, a delightful meal good quality and well made. The service and food were first class, friendly atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. A very well done to all the staff, we can’t Waite to go back. Worth a visit.

We along with quite a few others booked this hotel in January for a one night stay in March , a bit odd you may think why the review now in February , well here's the thing , last week [ end of January ] we had a n message off one of our friends that were also booked in , informing him that their room was unavailable on that night so I rang to be told the same thing , no explanation why just an apology for the inconvenience. The hotel was fully booked by our party of friends that were due to attend a nearby function and a lot of them have still not received confirmation that the rooms have been cancelled, this is a very unprofessional why of treating and dealing with customers some of which were due to travel hundreds of miles to get there, the very least they should do is make sure everyone is informed and a reasonable reason why. Book with caution .

The service was excellent. Food was amazing, brilliantly presented, cooked to perfection and very very tasty. We are visitors to the area and amazed at the standard of food here. 10/10

Visited for Sunday Lunch, the place was chilly and we ate in our coats it was 15 degrees inside rising to 17 when we left. The food was very nice and we all enjoyed it. The Customer service & attitude of some staff not so desirable. Couldn't wait for you to leave once they had your money.

We live miles away but this place was in between us and friends and looked nice with good reviews. The service is first class with nothing to much for the staff, greeted nicely and attentive. The food was incredible, so amazing, tasty, great ingredients cooked or perfection with a lot of thought and love. It’s so hard to find somewhere that keeps it simple but delivers on quality in this day and age, but this place does it all, well done The George.

My husband arranged my surprise birthday meal at The George and it couldn't have gone better. The food was fantastic and everyone was served at the same time even though all the selections were individual. The staff were excellent and attentive. The food here is exceptionally good. Between us we had frogs legs/scampi/pie (amazing!) Belly pork and steaks. All food cooked and presented beautifully. Particularly enjoyed the Asian 'slaw served with the starters. Service was also excellent with friendly professional staff. I honestly don't think anything could be improved.

Stopped by as a walk in. I immediately received a warm and welcoming greeting by the front of house staff which was nice. I was in early so it wasn’t overly busy and was given choice of preference for seating. Table and seating were clean, neat and tidy. The table layout wasn’t busy with unnecessary decor (which just gets in the way). Inside decor is comfortable and relaxing, there is a wood burner, which wasn’t on at the time but staff say it’s usually lit throughout the winter. I imagined this being a nice feature and a warming place to come when it’s cold outside. Menu choice looked great, and I couldn’t decide. The waiting staff helped, displaying good knowledge of the menu (whats been popular, her favourite dish, what’s new etc). I went with her recommendation (wild boar Lasange, for main) which was amazing! I had 3 courses in total, plus 2 diet cokes and a breakfast tea at the end and it came to £35. I almost felt guilty!!! I would have happily paid twice that given the quality, presentation and taste of the food served and the professionalism of the waiting staff. Thoroughly recommend. Food was fantastic, matched by the service. A really nice experience from start to finish.

booked a evening meal for Saturday night at the George. we found the inn has a nice oldy worldy vid a nice warm greeting from the staff and were very accommodating. A small criticism would be people looking in from outside as they walk past, some kind of half net curtain or similar would change this. we had starters and main and we found the prices to be overall fair for this style of dinning. The wife had mussels in white wine which were nice and fresh, I had the BBQ chicken wings which were also very nice, I usually struggle for a starter being a fussy eater. For main i had the belly pork which was good i do prefer my belly pork burnt well done but still enjoyed mine i thought the little apples were a nice visually but would have liked more burnt apple puree but overall a nice meal. The wife had pepper steak pie and was very pleased with it although i tasted it and thought it didn't need the pepper but that's just my taste. overall a good evening meal in a pleasant inn and i would recommend to friends and family and will dine here again in the future .

Date night at our local never disappoints. Tonight we had baked camembert and black pudding scotch egg to start the sirloin steak and wild voar lasagne for mains. All 10/10. Food amazing, atmosphere perfect and a very enjoyable evening. Thank you all.

We decided to visit the George in Market Square, Kirton Lindsey for an evening meal as it's only a short drive up the road from us and it's not been long since it was refurbished. The first thing to bear in mind is that this pub has a plush website but doesn't have an online table booking system. I left a phone message to book a table but this hadn't translated into a booking when we arrived in the evening. However, it was a Tuesday and the pub had plenty of table space. Note to self: phone after opening at 4.30pm. We had the choice of tables and decided to sit down the far end away from the bar. We quickly moved table though as it became apparent that there was a draft from the door to the beer garden. Lighting in the George is quite low except around the bar area. If you like taxidermy then you might choose to sit opposite the bar under, by my reckoning, at least ten stuffed deer heads looking down on you. Not to my taste but then again we are in the country. There was a stuffed bird adorning the windowsill where we sat, and the tables, predominantly four-seaters where we were, are plain finished bleached pine. The chairs are very eclectic with no two being the same. There is an online bar menu which we had previously perused and a selection of specials. Mrs Wanderer chose the Tandoori Halibut Kiev with Bombay saag aloo, spiced mango chutney, pickled carrots, edible flowers and herb oil off the specials menu and I opted for the Cider Braised Belly Pork from the bar menu. This came with creamed mashed potatoes, a sumptuous black pudding croquette, roasted baby apples the size of ten-pence pieces, burnt apple puree and tenderstem broccoli. When the meals arrived presentation was exceptional but there were a few problems with the dishes, especially Mrs W's. If you like crackling on your pork belly you will be disappointed. However, I'm not a fan from a previously broken tooth point-of-view so was more then happy with the dish. The fat on the pork was rendered beautifully and the tenderstem broccoli was firm under the fork. As I say the black pudding croquette was sumptuous and the mashed potato supremely smooth. Mrs Wanderer was not quite so pleased with her meal. She commented that a Kiev of any kind should have a garlic butter, or somesuch, filling but this seemed to have nothing inside. If it had then it had cooked out and was just a halibut fillet, albeit a very large and thick halibut fillet wrapped in batter/breadcrumbs. Top-notch battered fish you might think but the batter (or breadcrumbs, I'm not sure) was soggy. The tandoori flavours didn't come through and she said that from a spice point-of-view it was very bland. Disappointing at £20.95. To accompany the meal Mrs W had a large glass of Shiraz and I had a pint of Hopical Storm, one of my favourite craft ales. In all this was a moderately expensive meal at a shade over £50 for the two of us including drinks, especially when one of the meals wasn't up to scratch. However, I wouldn't shy away from another visit if the urge presented itself. Happy to recommend but avoid the halibut if it's on the menu.

The food here is outstanding! I had the calamari for starter and the chicken Kiev for my main. My husband had the lamb flat bread to start and the brisket burger for main. The cocktails are wonderful. The staff worked so hard to make the evening special especially Leanne. Thank you for a lovely evening we will be back!
