The Ferryboat Inn in North Lincolnshire

The carvery was amazing all fresh ingredients, the staff were very friendly and catered to all our needs,the venue is very well managed and we look forward to visiting again soon.

My family and I were in the area for a friend's wedding and we needed somewhere for Sunday Lunch before we all departed. It had good reviews on TripAdvisor so we called ahead and booked a table. I'd say this is recommended especially on Sundays as it was busy so there is a chance if you were a walk in you may have to wait. The pub itself is in a nice location on the riverbank. There is a small car park, but there is on street parking in the village. There is a great outdoor seating area, just a bit chilly for this time of year. There is also a small play area for children which is great. The staff are very friendly and they had plenty which meant you never waited very long for food, drinks, orders etc. This is rare these days so keep this up! The pub inside is traditional modern in style. Great as a restaurant style pub. They provide their full menu on a Sunday + a carvery. Between us all we had items from the menu, a couple of carveries and a children's menu item. All the food was great. Big portions, tasty, well presented. Prices were what you would expect for a pub lunch, between the £15-20 per person. For the size of the portion this was good value. Overall this is a great find and was a nice end to a good weekend for us. It's a shame I don't have somewhere like this more local to me or I would be visiting again!

Decided to visit after hearing that it was half decent. How wrong can you be! The first thing was that the service and staff was atrocious. A fast food outlet would be better. After a long wait for the food order it was to be no better than a big standard pub offering, and not a good one at the best. Highly over priced, Luke warm and dry. Never again....

What a beautiful pub, stunning decor. We went for a meal, arrived early. Welcomed by a lovely young man. The food was great. Good portions, arrived at the table nice and hot. Pudding was lovely They have lovely gardens, too. Shame too Cold Will return Would definitely recommend it.

We came here on the Friday for tea and after enjoying it so much we returned for a late lunch on Saturday. There were 10 of us in our party. Drink and food order taken promptly. The food that came was beautiful with massive portions. Stay were lovely and so attentive. Would definitely recommend

Myself and family came here today the Sunday carvery was beautiful and in a beautiful setting but unfortunately the staff let them down massive young girl long hair with and butterfies tattoo so very rude on 2 occasions we wasn't awkward just in general like she was to busy to serve us I won't be returning

I live in the village and it would be nice if there was some consistency here, food has gone downhill yet again over the last 2 months or so, I visited 4 times over the last few weeks and the food quality has dropped, the last meal they took it off my bill, I’m a business owner and I will never understand cutting corners or getting in poor quality chefs (loosely use the word chef). We won’t be visiting again.

This must be the best Sunday lunch around. Lovely roast potatoes and real mashed potatoes. Vegetables cooked to perfection.

I'm not sure if it was a bad day but it took half an hour to get a drink, which was wrong...twice. service was terrible, probably due to being under staffed and under trained. Food took almost 90 mins to arrive and was cold and bland. Very disappointed, not even an apology for the delays and service. Save your money, plenty of other local options.

We came as a large family, had numerous different dishes, carvery which was delicious and flavourful, salads of which were fresh and plentiful served with some bread and fresh butter, huge haddock and chips. Staff all welcoming and we were not rushed unlike the previous time when the rude manager was there. Would highly recommend this beautiful place. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Called in on the off chance to get a table.Was found one very quickly, asked for drinks order within 5 mins.We all opted for the Sunday carvery, l had beef and turkey it was absolutely delicious! Plenty of fresh vegetables on offer and huge Yorkshire puddings. We all ate and cleared out plates, the children had some ice cream for pudding and we had wine... the service was spot on staff very attentive and couldn't do enough for you.We went and sat outside for a while the setting is beautiful, small kids play area with plenty of outside seating on the river bank.. could have stayed all day! We have now been twice recently. Just two of us and also a family meal. Both times the food was fabulous, tasty, well presented and we didn’t have to wait long. Also a big plus for their allergen knowledge. Being a coeliac I have to be careful about the food I order. The staff are very clued up and I have no hesitation to eat here again. Prices are very competitive, it has a lovely atmosphere and is just a really nice place to enjoy a meal.

Last night we had a meal at The Ferry Boat Bar and Kitchen, our ‘local’ pub-restaurant. There were eight of us, family and friends, so we got to sample quite a lot of the menu items! It was a lovely sunny evening and we sat outside on the riverbank for our pre dinner drinks. There is a lot of outdoor seating on the river foreshore, the flood bank and in the beer garden which is a bit more sheltered. Children’s play equipment is located on the riverbank too. Our starters were Brie wedges, prawn cocktail, duck spring rolls, salt and pepper squid, and mozzarella sticks. Main courses were fish and chips (of course!), Cajun chicken breast, lasagna, steak and ale pie and pan fried salmon. Desserts were chocolate fudge cake, chocolate brownie and ice cream, chocolate cheesecake, ice cream sundae and sticky toffee pudding. We paid around £40 pp which included wine, beer and soft drinks. We had a great night, thank you to the staff of the Ferry Boat who coped with our needs admirably!!

Thus is the first time here. What a lovely friendly pub. It was very busy when we went and the staff were run ragged but service was still second to none. The food was excellent and piping hot , cheesecakes were gorgous as well . We will defo go back

We were a group of ten family celebrating mother's day. I would say it was a mixed review from the group. Speaking for myself I enjoyed my main (ribs) but my husband was very disappointed with his. He chose the steak and ale pie because he wanted something served with veg and it said on the menu that it came with seasonal veggies, however, when it arrived the veg was just a spoonful of peas. The pie itself was supposedly rough puff pastry but it looked like a thin biscuit sat on top of filling although he said the filling itself was very good. Most of the others said there meals were ok but nothing special. The two that ordered steak had to ask for a steak knife and my nephews meal came about ten minutes after everyone else's. Overall we agreed that it was ok but we had had much better elsewhere and we wouldn't be returning.

Found this little gem last year been back several times since. Food amazeing. Staff great. Tried the carvery this time again amazing. If you haven't yet been you need to you won't be disappointed.

We live in West Butterwick so the ferryboat is one of our locals and we feel lucky to have such good restaurant and pub nearby, however it is not too good for our waistlines!! Good food generous portions Steph is a great hostess, we try to go every week! See you there.

We had an excellent Sunday Lunch here at the weekend and would highly recommend. Nice to have other choice other than Sunday roast on the menu. The portions are plentiful but still found room for dessert. We will certainly be returning.

Called in on the off chance. No problem getting a table. Very friendly and welcoming. I’m a Coeliac but this wasn’t an issue. Discussed what i would like and the meal was fully adapted to ensure it was safe. Nothing was too much trouble. The service was quick, food was very well presented and tasted amazing. We will definitely be calling again, It was also nice to see families dining, it made for a lovely atmosphere

Booked for the family this morning, 5 adults, 3 children. Greeted by a wonderful man upon arrival, who served us drinks in the bar as we where a little early and waiting for a couple to arrive. We where shown to our table in the gorgeous restaurant area overlooking the garden. The service was attentive and we where quickly given menus. The most amazing Sunday lunch experience ensued with starters for the adults and the children's food being served at the same time so that we could relax and enjoy. Roast beef and lamb cooked to perfection as where the vegetables, in abundance, with extra gravy and the best freshly cooked yorkshire pudding. Such a special time spent with family and a credit to the staff and the village. We will definitely recommend and be back soon. Thank you❤️

First visit to this lovely pub. Well worth a visit just for the steak and ale pie. I think it's the best pie I have eaten in a pub or restaurant. Lovely friendly barmaid.

One of the best Sunday lunches we have had in a long time. Cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. We were too full for pudding but couldn’t resist when we saw the selection! Delicious. We look forward to returning soon.

We had dinner at the Ferryboat Bar and Kitchen last night. This is a very attractive pub, on the riverbank, with lots of outside tables and play equipment for children. However, last night it was far too cold be sit outside so we were glad of the warmth and comfort inside the pub. The restaurant was only half full, but despite this some of our other friends had not been able to secure a booking, having being told that the restaurant was fully booked. I am told that this is not uncommon - you would think that most businesses would want to make a profit but this doesn’t seem to apply to the Ferryboat. The food was good, although the chips and battered fish were overcooked and very brown - the fish inside was good though. The other meals were all fine - we had sirloin steak, lamb koftas and chicken Caesar salad. There is a very limited dessert menu but not many people wanted ‘afters’. Service was ok, maybe slightly slow, and cutlery was forgotten but nothing major. Would we visit again? Probably, as this restaurant is local to us, and the food was mostly good.

Lovely lunch at the ferry boat yesterday.. Excellent service .. Love the decor and ambience. Friendly yet very professional, service Superb care from the front of house, Barman. Highly recommend the home-made desserts .. Please, keep the staff that you have in place.. We will definitely revisit. 🙏💫💫

What a rip off !! We all ordered off the lunch time special menu but were charged from the al a carte menu . The manageress refused to budge this is obviously set up to deliberately con people. PLEASE DON’T GO HERE !!

Decent food but management attitude and organisation was shocking. Booked a table for 12.30. Presented with 3 menus. We all chose from the lunchtime ‘light’ menu. 3 French onion soups (asked for 1 gluten free), 2 sausage and mash and a pie. We then ordered two deserts and 3 coffees. - 1 of which was to replace the desert from the three course light menu. We were charged for the meals from the a la cart menu at a cost approx £26 more than the light menu. We obviously told the waiter who referred this to the manager. An apology was given but still insisted on the full price. We could have justifiably refused to pay the extra but it would have created an unpleasant scene. Surely a restaurant should at least compromise on the price. Customer relations for future - shocking. I will not return and will advise friends and relatives of the poor customer service.

Was in the Scunthorpe area for a night, did the Tripadvisor search for the best restaurant in the area and this place came up. Booked a table and arrived a little earlier than planned. Incredibly friendly guy behind the bar to welcome us - can't understate the warmth of the welcome we received. Decided to take our drinks outside to check the view. The outdoor seating area is immaculately kept. In warmer weather, would definitely have considered dining in the outdoor section, but went back into the restaurant to dine. Really nice selection of beers on tap, coupled with a decent set of wines to choose from too. Annoyingly, had trouble getting on the website, so arrived blind, menu-wise, but there's a great choice of pub classics and more 'upmarket' to select from. Couldn't decide on what to have (did that annoying thing of changing my mind mid-way through ordering), but went for the 10oz gammon steak, which came with some of, if not the best triple-cooked chips I've had, three enormous onion rings in a deliciously light batter, roasted tomato and mushroom and a zingy aniseedy pineapple chutney and a perfectly cooked fried egg atop the gammon. Sometimes the simplest meals can be so poorly executed, but I would struggl to think of an occasion where I'd eaten a better piece of gammon steak than this. When I saw a nearby table being cleared and the empty plate being returned with one of those mini chip baskets restaurants like to use, my heart sank a bit as I thought I was going to get a stingy portion. Nuh-huh - basket full to the brim with the triple-cooked beauts' with a load more on the plate too. In fact, 'eyes bigger than his belly' couldn't finish them. Friend had the sausage and mash, which they said was really good, but I was too engrossed in my own meal to notice! I'd travel the 190 miles from home just to eat there again and come straight back afterwards!

Pretty much faultless. In fact, it was completely faultless! Friendly service, great food with things adapted to meet my fussy demands due to intolerances, and an amazing view of the Trent. I'm literally going to make the two hour round trip again come day of pay!

Had a birthday meal with friends and was extremely impressed with the food and service. Steph and the rest of the staff were excellent. They were very welcoming and you could the warmth as soon as you entered. I am returning for fathers day to treat him to their carvery which I have been told is delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The beer garden is lovely as well. I also felt the price was very reasonable especially as the food was excellent.

Called on the off-chance with our dog in the hope they served food. No idea what to expect. The service and food were excellent. Didn’t have to wait long to be served or for the food to arrive. Camembert starter was delicious and well presented (with fresh rosemary from the garden). Steak perfectly cooked and burger with pulled pork was huge. Very clean and well maintained garden and seating areas outside (didn’t see inside). Will definitely call again.

Really disappointed. Arrived at 2:15pm and sat outside on the decking area. My husband went inside to get some menus and was told they wouldn't be able to serve us food for another hour and a half. There was barely anybody in the pub so they wasn't overrun with customers but we were told because we hadn't booked a table this was why they couldn't serve us. We had already tried calling several times from 12:00 to book a table so if staff don't answer the phone how are we suppose to book a table? We've been plenty of times in the past and always enjoyed our food but this has put us off coming again or recommending to other people.
