How this pub has got such positive reviews, god only knows...From the exterior it looks like an inviting village pub, however, the positives end there. The interior is painfully neglected, run down and in desperate need of thoughtful restoration. Furthermore, there was not even one cask beer on offer. All in all a truly depressing experience. If you are a discerning drinker who appreciates a traditional village pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, then I would suggest that you steer well clear of this tasteless dump.

Not much to add really to be honest it’s getting left behind as are similar pubs in area ( Brigg) as newer more modern pubs come on line

Not as good as it has been for the past 60 years. Àll old people and memories have gone with most of my long lost friends and family.A real shame spoiled my recent life. A kirtonian since 1944. Hmmm

Sunday lunches served 12 - 2. We booked a Sunday lunch here. Note the word booked. It was fairly early on, table was booked for 12.30, we'd not been before but passed it numerous times on the way home. We arrived and waited to be seated..... and waited, the place was packed, and because we waited we noticed things we wouldn't have done had we been seated. No one approached us and when we enquired at the bar, we were told that there was a delay of about half an hour. There was no apology. Obvious 'regulars' took precedence, indeed this seemed to be the reason for the delay as staff served and catered to these as visiting notables. A family of 5 who had also booked were told their table wouldn't be ready for another 20 mins, again there was no apology...I'm at a loss to understand how they could gauge the time as no one seemed inclined to leave their coveted seats once they had their bums on them. We left. We won't be going back. Food: looked good, never got to taste any of it. Prices seemed reasonable for the portions being served Drinks: the usual, couldn't see if there were any specials Ambience: cliquey Overall: bookings should be honoured and reviewed for those who arrive without booking. Basic stuff really.

There is a lot of choice on the menu including vegetarian meals. The restaurant is very small so probably better to book in advance for weekends. The restaurant caters for special diets but you do need to phone a few days in advance and speak to the chef. All staff are very helpful and friendly. Also there is no rush to eat your meal you can take as long as you like. Beware though that when we visited in June they did not have facilities for card payments so you do need to pay by cash.

Called in on the off chance for a Sunday Lunch. It was late and the normal Sunday lunch service had just about finished. However the staff were more than happy to accommodate us and there was plenty of good quality food left to be had. We also had a very enjoyable dessert. The Sunday Lunch was excellent value and we will certainly be back again. Keep up the good work. Very friendly atmosphere and a freshly and modern decorated dining room away from the drinking guests.

We called into this pub for a weekday lunch. The menu was quite extensive and gave excelent choice; from haddock and chips to full mixed grill. The staff were friendly and the chef had time to ask if everything was ok with the meal. It was superbly cooked and I could not fault it. Prices were good value. I would thoroughly recommend recommend this restaurant

My family and I were in the area for a friend's wedding and we needed somewhere for Sunday Lunch before we all departed. It had good reviews on TripAdvisor so we called ahead and booked a table. I'd say this is recommended especially on Sundays as it was busy so there is a chance if you were a walk in you may have to wait. The pub itself is in a nice location on the riverbank. There is a small car park, but there is on street parking in the village. There is a great outdoor seating area, just a bit chilly for this time of year. There is also a small play area for children which is great. The staff are very friendly and they had plenty which meant you never waited very long for food, drinks, orders etc. This is rare these days so keep this up! The pub inside is traditional modern in style. Great as a restaurant style pub. They provide their full menu on a Sunday + a carvery. Between us all we had items from the menu, a couple of carveries and a children's menu item. All the food was great. Big portions, tasty, well presented. Prices were what you would expect for a pub lunch, between the £15-20 per person. For the size of the portion this was good value. Overall this is a great find and was a nice end to a good weekend for us. It's a shame I don't have somewhere like this more local to me or I would be visiting again!

Entered a golf competition, fantastic course. The club house is absolutely brilliant and I can see why it is so popular for bookings. There is lots of parking and we found the staff very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to my next visit. Would recommend to anybody wanting to golf, or hire the club house for a special occasion.
