Cosy pub with outdoor space and fabulous views! The food is amazing (highly recommend the calamari and chicken parmigiana), but there were so many options and my vegan friends were also very satisfied. Service fast and friendly, We will definitely be back again!

Popped in for a couple of half pints on a hot summer's day. Great view from the beer garden, with a reasonable selection of drinks offered at the bar. Car park was a bit of a squeeze, but it was worth the effort!

Stunning view and a lovely place to enjoy a pint

First time here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was great and most importantly I met some lovely 4 legged friends. Great spot.

Popped by here for a wee drink after a long walk on the moor. A nice selection of cask ales and they also have Guinness (probably the perfect drink after a long hike)! The beer garden was exceptional and the seating area outside is inviting.

Ace spot, nice selection ,of beer and wine with great food

Came to the Hermit Inn after a lovely walk in Ilkley and was absolutely taken aback! Sat outside where the views were wonderful, with heaters under the shelter if needed; the service was prompt and friendly with both drinks and food orders. The food was delicious, of note were the halloumi fries (highly recommend) while the calamari, prawns and chips were so so tasty and not greasy at all!! Absolute delight and would definitely recommend.

Disappointed in our food . The apple strudel had been shoved in the microwave as pastry was ruined , wet and soggy . What a shame , as the filling was great

We went here for an early lunch before setting off on a walk on the moor. We had the soup of the day and a pie--both were delicious. Staff were really attentive and atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We will definitely visit again when planning walks in the area. It was a bit colder when we visited but on a nice day there is great outdoor seating with a view of the valley below.

Special community owned pub, magnificent outdoors views across lower Wharfedale and to the Chevin and a warm indoor vibe where service is attentive but not intrusive by a young local crew. Great authentic Yorkshire pub fare, a wide beer/lager/ale selection and wine too. Family and dog friendly to boot, including muddy ones if you come off a well earned walk on the moor. Well worth the hike or a detour in the car if you're in the area.

Had a very delicious roast Sunday lunch, Roast beef Roast belly pork Yorkshire pudding All the veg were fresh and cooked perfectly Starters very tasty and plentiful Desserts were truly scrumptious Staff very pleasant and very efficient Good idea to book a table as was busy.

Good atmosphere backed up with great food and service

We were driving past and noticed it was a Free House so decided to stop for a quick bite to eat. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We chose a light lunch - husband had a mushroom and tarragon soup and I had potato and leek soup. Both delicious and served with sourdough bread. The menu and the food that was being served looked very good. If we had not already booked a table elsewhere that evening we would have gone back for dinner. Also a good selection of ales. Upper terrace has stunning views.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere and great wine. Can’t recommend the hermit enough. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. The roast beef was fabulous but don’t miss out on the starters and the brownie for dessert!!

Lovely place. We had soup and meatballs. I’m vegetarian and choices are limited, nearly gave 4 stars as it’s a common problem, but soup was gorgeous and I’d definitely come again. Pies look good, veggie option would have been amazing. I did ask and apparently work is going on in the background to develop a vegan pie. I’ll try the yoga bowl next time if veggie pies aren’t available 😄 Staff really friendly. We sat outside, lovely outside space and lovely dogs and people to say hello to.

Such a find! We wandered in to The Hermit on a Saturday afternoon after a winter’s walk. It is a warm and welcoming pub with fantastic food. We had beef soup which was hearty and a meal in itself; it was served with two big toasted slices of Leeds Bread Co sourdough and creamy butter. We also had the smash burger and ordered it on the sourdough rather than the brioche bun and with vegan cheese to accommodate a milk allergy. The burger was the best we have had in years! Amazingly delicious and served with coleslaw, a great mixed salad and crispy chips made exactly as we requested. Table service at a pub made the Hermit Inn even more desirable. George and his lovely staff were friendly and accommodating. We will returned for our last meal before relocating from West Yorkshire on Tuesday 13/02/24. It was the perfect choice! Excellent service from Bella and exceptionally good food, beer and wine made the evening a perfect good-bye to the area.

Excellent food, great portion sizes and lovely atmosphere. Visited whilst the rugby was on and it didn't completely eclipse the pub which was lovely 🤗 Very dog friendly. Would definitely visit again!

This is such a lovely pub in an amazing location. Given how remote it is, it's always heaving! But the staff are great and knowledgeable about what they are serving (drinks & food)

We went to the Hermit for Sunday lunch with friends. We had one Roast Beef and 3 of the Porchetta (as recommended to us) they were all incredible. Really good quality meat and you could tell it was all prepared fresh. We had two little ones with us and the staff were all brilliant with them bringing us side plates etc. The desserts were out of this world! Would highly recommend the Brownie - the best I’ve ever eaten.

Fabulous views and outside seating but not a lot of parking space

Lovely service, nice atmosphere. But that roast dinner was garbage.. Three of us got the roast beef dinner and we were all devastated at it's lack of quality. Dry beef out of a packet, watery gravy, cardboard Yorkshire pud and aunt Bessie's spuds, with only green beans and peas for veg. I've never in my life had such a terrible roast. Shan't be coming back.

Great dining experience. If I had to say anything my daughter had the sausage and mash very good in the eyes of an adult but like a number of local places, possibly too good. I dont know about other peoples children but at the moment mines going through the stage of plain pork sausages unfortunately not anything like Cumberland sausages or just something like chicken nuggets would suffice.

Went with my wife on Saturday after a lovely walk. Service was impeccable, food came quickly, was piping hot and delicious. We both had the Korean chicken burger. The other food we saw coming out looked great too. Would 100% recommend. Other pubs could learn a thing or two from this place.

The perfect Boxing Day lunch. The pub was very full but the staff were extremely attentive, the service was fantastic, the food was freshly cooked and very tasty. My kids loved it and my parents loved it. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

George was dead helpful getting us a table pretty last minute on Christmas Eve and we were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. Despite it being mad busy, our food arrived quickly, piping hot and delicious - generous sized portions too! Will deffo be back 👌🏻

Wow, can’t believe the stunning turn around from the previous incarnation of this pub. Enjoyed their Christmas menu today, turkey roast follow by bread and butter pudding. Meal was delicious, service was great, really great value too! Well done to the team!

We had a family Sunday lunch today, seven of us including 3 children. We were so impressed by the warm welcome and efficient service. The food was delicious with very generous servings. We will be back!

Well what more can I say than “the best beef pie ever” and I’ve had more than a few in my 52 years on this planet. Absolutely love this pub, the staff are so friendly and the service is excellent. There’s always a fine selection of beers and a very warm welcome especially from Jack.

Fantastic pies! I had the steak pie for lunch today. Packed with tender beef and incredibly tasty. The staff were as attentive as always, despite it being a full Friday lunch crowd, making for a lovely mid-walk pit stop. Highly recommend eating at The Hermit!

Out of this world Sunday lunch in a packed lovely lively pub

Astonishingly good! I don't have a generally great opinion of pub food because it can often over promise and undeliver as part of large chains. This one is very different. It is community owned and situated on the edge of Baildon Moor in a stunning location. Service was excellent. A large team of young staff working effectively. The food wow. I had a steak pie with greens and fries. The pie was huge- look at the photo. Crispy top and large pieces of slow cooked steak in a beautifully seasoned sauce. My wife had fishcakes which she said was equally as great. Truly amazed at the quality and reasonably priced. HIGHLY recommend it. WILL be returning.

I came here on a recommendation for my birthday Sunday lunch. The staff were young attentive and professional. The food was excellent and I had a fabulous time in the relaxed back room. Would highly recommend this place.

I love it at The Hermit, the outdoor seating is absolutely beautiful, they've really made it a warm and enjoyable area, we came here for my birthday meal and they put us somewhere quiet and were very attentive. The waiting staff here are all absolutely lovely, they make you feel very welcome! I just love it here!

Haven't been here for ages, heard lots of good things and it did not disappoint. Offered a table inside or out due to the weather and we sat outside. Fab views. Great customer service and super food. We will be heading back!

I didn't have any food but the new garden seating is a great idea and I had the best pint of Boltmaker I've had this side of Keighley.

Lovely wee pub a short walk from burley in wharfedale village. Really nice ambience, lots of wooden furniture and soft lighting. Nice selection of beer to choose from and an entire gin shelf. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to boot!

Another lovely evening at The Hermit. We were really lucky to be served by Molly again. She was so efficient and helpful. The food was all delicious. Korean chicken burger (I ordered without the bun) was spicy and fresh, the mushrooms with truffle special was a really good portion and really tasty, the smash burger and the meaty hermit pizza were both great too. The pub was packed. Really buzzy. Lovely to see a country pub, that was my local growing up, making such a success of things!

I love that this a community run pub, as it would have been a shame to see it turned into apartments. The food was good and it was fairly priced. The service was quite slow and the atmosphere seemed a bit low, it was a Tuesday evening though, so maybe it's a bit better at a weekend.

Such a transformation since the new owners took over. They’ve created a fantastic independent pub feel. The food is excellent with a very well curated menu. A wonderful beer garden too. One of the best around.

Just had the Thai Noodle Salad for lunch and it was beautiful. Fresh, full of flavour and lighter than the usual pub grub… and plenty of it!! The waiting team were attentive and always made sure I had a full drink at the table. Great pub. Great food. Great atmosphere.

Dog friendly pub with very attentive staff. The food is ok and reasonably priced. The seating was not particularly comfortable and we would have stayed longer if it had been. I wish we had brought jumpers and sat outside as the views are stunning. When paying by card you are asked how much you would like to tip which i absolutely hate. Surely a popular pub like this can afford to pay its staff a decent wage without having to supplement with tips.
