I stayed in the hotel so of course used this restaurant and so pleased I did. Simple menu that caters for all, well presented and served up by charming and friendly staff. What more do you want.

Having looked at the website and reviews, we hoped for so much, but underwhelming. Food okay at best, but staff leave a lot to be desired. They have a manner of little interest and cba. The staff couldn't answer the simplest question about the dishes, ie what cheese is on the cheese board? Enquired for more detailed about the menu, and questions couldn't be answered. Wife's steak... tbh was the thickness of a minute steak for a sandwich, and eventhough she requested medium rare, it arrived medium to well done. Asked for a second portion of chips, told would take a few minutes and these arrived within seconds, which means to me they are not cooked to order but reheated at best. Then when you sit in the bar area and have paint peeling of the walls because of damp. Not great.

We visited today Sunday 27th April and the service was awful. The blonde lady waiting on had a terrible attitude so much so that we witnessed a couple ask for a table by the window, she refused so they walked straight back out. Not once did she smile or make us feel welcome, the whole experience was rushed and rude. We weren’t checked on or asked if we would like more drinks. My partner politely said “excuse me” she responded quickly “she’s getting your Prosecco now” then turned her back, we weren’t actually asking about the Prosecco. Unfortunately this staff member ruined our experience today and we won’t be returning.

Previously on my first visit I had given it a 5 star review and I have since visited several times and found there is no consistency in both the quality of food and service. On average this review now reflects this eatery in my opinion. Staff are completely lost to what they are doing, I ordered a chicken and ham tortilla stack and it took 15 minutes to heat it up. It was not busy at all and the staff were just there to complete staff rota. One of the servers I asked for a fork and she puts her grubby hands all over the eating side of things. I asked twice she did the same thing not releasing her amateur mistake that after serving customers and dealing with cash transactions wash your hands. Also if the food is for takeaway it’s common sense to provide a fork or a napkin atleast. Staff get flustered with a ray of sunshine shining through, they need training in both customer service and overall experience of dealing with food preparation and delivery. Location is ideal, menu is great but pity they can’t execute it to the full potential. Will not be wasting my money there again.

Very rude and argumentative staff. I have been to this subway multiple times in the past and have never had an issue. I always get the BMT sub, they ask what salad and sauce I’d like and then I pay. I went in today around 1:50pm to get 2 different sandwiches and I was asked what salad I wanted on the one sub (for my partner) and then the staff member put the salad on the other sub (mine) without asking. He had put onion on my sub, which I am allergic to however I felt too awkward to say anything so I paid and left. I was not given a receipt on payment either. I asked my partner to go back in right away with both subs (which were both warm, to show I had just ordered them) and explain what happened for them to re-make my sub with the correct salad, as I felt too awkward to do it. The lady who was working asked for a receipt and my partner explained that we weren’t given one and that the subs are still warm as we only just ordered them. He explained that I was allergic to onions and she was argumentative and said the sub came with the salad as standard. My partner continued to explain that we understand that however that has never happened before where they just put the salad on. She re-made the sandwich however she was arguing with the partner the whole time and her customer service was appalling. The main issue wasn’t the fact they put the salad on as standard, it was the attitude of the server and her lack of understanding that I couldn’t have the sub due an allergy. Customer service today was horrific and we won’t be returning to that subway for a while.

Visited Pizza Express as part of a large group while attending an event at the nearby Telford International Centre. As is often the case with larger groups visiting restaurants, I tend to find the service suffers and the food is mediocre. Sadly this was the case on this occasion too. The pasta dish I ordered was lovely but the side salad accompaniment I ordered never arrived until after I’d finished my meal. Dishes were coming out very sporadically which meant some of the table had finished eating before others had received their order. I’m sure this restaurant is great for smaller tables but it suffered with larger groups, which is likely to be a regular occurrence being so close to the International Centre.

Had a lovely lunch at The Lion Inn this afternoon. We were debating on what to choose when the chef came out to see us. He recommended an open tomato, mozzarella and pesto sandwich with homemade crisps and salad which was perfect as I’m vegetarian. My friend chose the cheese and bacon toastie. I’ve got to say, it was amazing, we both thoroughly enjoyed it and the homemade crisps were super and a nice touch. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We will definitely be visiting again soon 🤩

I did not stay in a room on this visit. The service on the carvery was very well run and clean. The service by the waiting staff was hit and miss, cutlery and food being dropped when staff were collecting finished plates. My table was cleared before we had all finished. Then the deserts were miss placed then when arrived mine had obviously been microwaved which was extremely disappointing. I know we only paid £20 per person as it was mother's day. I will give the swan hotel another try yet not on a busy day.
