Came for birthday meal with family because when I came. A month ago it was a lovely but today I was very disappointed I had smothered platter and was not the same very greasy and chips were hard and dry. Felt the chef couldn’t care how she slapped the food on the plate

Have been coming here now for a few weeks. I live in Market Drayton and more than happy to make the journey here, assured the food will be absolutely perfect. The best roasts, best Yorkshire's and meat that just melts on your mouth. A couple of times we have been lucky enough to get a doggy bag for the dogs(we have 5) They set aside what they consider the scraps which are actually better than the meat other places have served to us! The staff all appear to be kind caring and a pleasure to speak with. Usually come every couple of weeks but might start making it weekly. As you can probably gather I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Went with family for a birthday breakfast treat, barely any food available... took ages to replenish anything, had to keep asking. The bacon was barely cooked and were serving frozen pancakes! Not been off the loo since, won't be going back

I eat the breakfast here at least once a month and usually it's really good. Good atmosphere, good service and good food. BUT today was abysmal. To start with there seams to be a new manager with a severe case of 'New Manager Syndrome' he's new and must show he's making a difference. That difference came in the form of rudeness, bluntness and arrogance to both his staff and the customers. He completed lacks the welcoming approach a manager of a restaurant should have. The floors, especially the toilets, sounds like you're walking on sellotape. As for the staff, they we're friendly and helpful. Exactly what i expected. Food was good for the most part the the baked beans we're ice cold. I know some people like cold beans but not for me thanks. I did tell the new manager and he said he would inform the kitchen but I doubr that will happen. Hopefully by next month there will be a new manager in charge with less of a chip on his shoulder and more people skills. --------------------------------------- Long overdue update: Happy to say the old manager is long gone and the service is back to being excelent.

Men's toilet, lock broken, toilets bowl has NEVER been properly cleaned, shows ingrained excrement. Needs a proper clean.

Came here recently with my partner and could not fault anything! Food was lovely and didnt take too long, service was friendly and helpful. Overall very happy!

Virtually empty on a bank holiday. No standard cheap deal was explained confusingly by a manager. Food is just ok, standard chain no imagination but alright for the money. Barman and waiter very nice though, they elevated the visit more than the food.

Visited recently with my family and had a great experience. We were welcomed with a smile, and received such friendly service throughout our time there. Food was great-goid sized portions and nice and hot. We'll be back!

It's absolutely horrific. Staff couldn't care less. We were welcomed with "just seat yourself." Ordered food and drinks, and no one knew how to make a Blue Lagoon Cocktail, which was on the drinks menu. Apparently, they weren't there for the training day. Ordered ours meals, starters arrived, my sons was actually really nice, he had the Chicken Goujons and BBQ sauce, he said they were lovely (could've been better presented) the garlic and herb mushrooms were merely heavily deep fried mushrooms, which had shrank which left a oil soaked shell with something rattling around inside that resembled a mushroom shape but was a sweaty mess, so here's to the mains, will this be any better, no, it just got worse. Son had the ultimate burger which was burnt, dry, warm salad and coleslaw, chip shells with no potatoe inside, husband had the smothered platter, which was awful, dry over cooked meat, my steak finally arrived, wow, what a mess. The chef totally killed the steak, was like a grey old boot, considering I'd asked for medium rare, there wasn't a spot of pink anywhere, so I returned it, I explained the chef had killed the steak and pointed out this wasn't medium rare, so the waitor took the food back and said a fresh would be made, anyway, 30 mins later, husband and son have eaten what's edible on their plates and my 2nd attempt arrived, this was even worse, a 2nd 8pz sirloin ruined, at this point I've had enough, we've been there over 2 hours and it's one failed mean after another. I totally 100% recommend you DONT ever go here. All the staff need sacking. Not even a decent apology. I requested a refund for my meal even though every meal we had, we left over half and they knew this. This is our local, a short walk away, would never ever go again. This isn't our first baf experience, but with it being over a year ago, surely things had changed. Nope, it got worse. Didn't ask about allergens.

Had breakfast here and was really hot and tasty. Service from Gail and Emily was spot on and they are both really down to earth and really welcoming. Lovely place with Fab food and staff!!

Absolutely terrible, waited for 50 mins for food, had booked to reserve table but needn’t of bothered just told to sit anywhere after being kept waiting for ten min then enduring a 50 minute wait for the food terrible terrible

I would recommend going elsewhere. Came here after a long day with a friend for some food and a well earned break. We followed the signs directions to "wait to be seated". The staff initially ignored us until we walked to the bar to ask to be seated. We ordered food, waited half an hour, and I went to check how long the wait was. They had "lost our ticket" and couldn't make us any food as the kitchen had shut. The "manager", rather than dealing with the refund for apologising, walked off and bossed her staff around when they asked her for help. As someone who's worked in many restaurants, I'm surprised this place is still open.

Staff kept smiling despite over a 2 hour wait for food. We eventually left after 2 hours of waiting and had a full refund. Another couple also left after waiting over an hour. I felt after waiting for a considerable time, we should have been made a priority, yet many people who arrived after us were served.

Tom the chefs food was fantastic and Gail needs a promotion asap 💰

Had lovely service this morning from both Gale and Sian! Attentive, friendly and welcoming 😊. Will definitely be going back.

AVOID!!! Came here for a Mother’s Day meal. Booked for 6pm and wasn’t seated till 6:20pm. Waited 55 minutes and no sign of even our starter so asked the waiter where our food was and they said they lost our ticket. Asked us what we ordered again and would have to wait another 40 minutes for our food to be cooked so we just cancelled the order. I had my 3 year old constantly asking where her food was, We wasn’t the only ones this happened to either. Absolutely terrible service. Will never book to have a meal here again, ruined my Mother’s Day evening.

A last minute booking at the nearby premiere inn with a meal deal. Pub had been quiet and staff were starting to shut down understandably. Inwas greeted by Farah and Maddy who were lovely and smiley when it would have been too easy for them to roll their eyes or tell me they are closed. A massive thank you to you and the kitchen staff for accommodating me.

I booked a table on line for 27th Feb 2025 for 4 people we travelled a 15 mile round trip .When we turned up went to the door to see a notice on door stating pub was closed !!! Seriously not happy can the management e mail me back with their comments asap.

Have no idea what this place is like apart from them telling us they were really busy and had nothing available all night even though the place was empty and there were only a few people in.

We had a family breakfast but minimal food was on offer for all you can eat breakfast, only 1 member of staff seen. Food wasn't the best either which is a shame, constant people either waiting for food at self serve or complaining.

Not a good start. My wife ordered a Jacket Potato. Then 20 minutes later the Chef came out and said we don't have any. What kind of Restaurant has no Potatoes. So my wife ordered. a Gammon please. I ordered a Stack Burger 45 minutes later it arrived COLD. What had they been doing for 45 minutes?

I booked a table for 3pm for Sunday 16 February 2025 got to restaurant at 3pm only to be told there is an hours wait for food so we opted for the carvery and was told they only had the turkey My dining partner and I are very disappointed and irritated by the lack of professionalism and politeness from the staff we were forced to go elsewhere

Not very good service 😕 paid for unlimited breakfast an was told by the waiter that I could have no more because of time but wasn't informed when paid 10.99

We had a meal tonight 3 of us on arrival we got inside and nobody on the front and no notice so looked for a table up came the front end hostess who was very rude saying there was a sign to wait to book in but there wasn't one, she didn't even apologise. We have been coming here for years but will not be back. There is no need to be rude !!!!!

The service was friendly, prices reasonable and standard of food as good as I expected - that is to say that it was not gourmet dining and choice was not as wide as would be found in such a place. Chips and peas with most things! However salad was offered as a replacement for chips and onion rings or brioch rolls. A very good steak cooked exactly as I like it on one night.

Food was good and came quickly. BUT unfortunately the ladies toilets were very dirty and toilet seat in the disabled toilet was missing, I did tell the staff about these issues but nothing was done about it while we were there.

Sunday carvery is fab, service not great and always a queue as only 1 person on the till to take orders. Good value for money

Great pub, lovely food, but be sure to know what's on the offers before you order, as apparently changes can't be made and food can't be added .. even if you've paid for 3 courses and only get 1.

Staff when we stated food was lukewarm at best ,just looked like rabbits caught in headlights no clue how to handle customers they didn’t even comment We won’t be back!!! I’ll be surprised if this place remains open

First visit in years for a major gathering which involved all choosing from the festive menu. For 100% clarity the staff were outstanding. This must be noted when reading the rest of this review. The food quality from the three course meal was dire. Absolutely dreadful. Scores of people across different tables could not finish their meals - it was that bad. Please do not try the festive burger. It is probably the worst quality food I have ever attempted to eat. It came out with mayo on the bottom and cranberry sauce on top. They gave a side of fries and strangely a pot of gravy. The burger was dreadful. Sausage awful literally the lowest quality possible. Bacon was primarily fat and the beef burger again dreadful quality. The turkey omg was disgusting, a slab of tough old turkey- must be prepared. Dessert of apple crumble great. Would also challenge the lack of hygiene . Dropped something on the floor and tried to locate it under the table and the carpet was filthy, I mean, the place serves food and must at least run a hoover over it. The flooring by the bar was also dirty - almost slipped. Finally they charge you far too much for a tea considering all they do is give you a empty cup. You then put in a cheap tea bag and add in hot water yourself. Not a fan which is a shame as its local.

Food took ages to come, and then it was only Luke warm. I certainly won't be rushing back.

My wife and I had a lovely lunch at the clock tower . The barman Dan and staff were brilliant especially when the had a very big party booked. They still managed to make us welcome , especially when all the staff were so busy with the big group. Well done .

Arrived at 12pm for a party of 10 plenty of seating. The choice of vegatables was really good with sweet potato mash and the sprouts my favourite(also new to the menu) Only negative was only one person on the bar serving between drinks and food orders so would need more staff on bar. Ryan the front of house host/manager made the day also having banter with us.

Lovely staff and good food, Ryan was an amazing help with food and a cheerful chap, we come here a few times in the year and have never been disappointed

Came here last week as a party of six. Greeted by friendly member of staff and promptly shown to our table. My other half is Coeliac and therefore required a strict Gluten-Free option. This presented as no problem at all and Daniel, who had taken our order, went to considerable lengths to explain what she could and couldn't have. When the food arrived it was hot and tasty. There were no complaints from any of the party and everyone enjoyed their meal. Reasonably priced too! I would definitely eat there again. Well done to all concerned.

Stayed in Telford recently with my partner and we came here for breakfast several times. The waitress, Gail, was absolutely wonderful and the food cooked by Karl (I believe it was) was delicious. We had a lovely time and we hope to go back soon!

Breakfast birthday. Food ran out and had to wait. So it was hit n miss. Staff very nice. Clean and tidy.

**UPDATE 10/11/2024* don’t bother wasting your money, menu is shocking because of the festive menu. The carvey is a rip off £11.99 to not even be given at least 1 slice of meat… because of how thin it is being cut you get given half a slice of gammon/beef and let’s not mention the turkey we had scraps from around the side of the turkey that had been broken off from other cuttings. Sprouts taste like washing up liquid I was nearly sick. Won’t be going back there. Not that the staff will care because they all moan about how tired they are or how they want to leave. If I could give zero stars then I would. This has been taken over by new management which is just what the place needed, the food is brilliant again, staff lovely. Come here most weekends now

We have been going here for a Sunday lunch and it’s been going down hill very quickly this week the girl carving needs some lessons as she gives you scraps of meat and it’s carved so thin that one Turkey probably serves at least 50 people or more when the young man asked if everything was ok I comment no he asked why and when I told him I was told it was her first time that’s why I have said she needs more lessons the carving area was a mess meat all over the place when I made a comment about it she said that she was use to working in a bigger area I will not be going back again.

Came here about 3 months ago for a Sunday carvery it wasn’t the best we’ve had only 1 choice of meat this was 4 o’clock.Anyway decided to give it another go this time at 3 o’clock 2 choices turkey and dried up beef everything was cold ,tasty but cold ,you needed a knife for the gravy.wont be coming again

Please definitely need renovation, as not look great inside, table are not always clean, very often sticky, once on breakfast served me tomatoes what been really disgusting, like with some chemicals from oven , what was before cleaned, and all comes to tomatoes when was grilled, after that I never come back there again sorry

Had a night out there shooting some pool and drinks with food. Food was good and bar staff very friendly. All in all good night out with the boys.

I had wanted the squash ricotta and spinach lasagne but apparently that was still frozen. The beef lasagne was perfectly pleasant. After having finished our main course (around 8.15) we were asked to move to the bar so they could clean the table.??? 1. The place was empty 2. What if we wanted dessert? Needless to say we finished our drinks and left.

No one greeted us on arrival, or told a what to do to get served, sat at table for 10 mins then left, no one who worked here spoke to me

The food was hot tasty + well worth the money. Its great for a quick bite + we also love the breakfasts.

Went for a drink with friends,it wasn't late,only early afternoon, all the tables was full of plates and glasses etc,ask a member off staff if they could clear one away so we could sit down with drinks,which they did eventually but not very good,they wiped the food on the floor from the table a quick wipe,then walked away never came back to clear the floor with peas and potatoes all on the table,so we drank our drinks a went,

Went for breakfast on Monday last week food could not be faulted best breakfast I have tasted by far must have a new chef service was amazing very friendly and polite staff couldn't do enough for you breakfast was nearly over by the time we got there at 10.21 was very quiet and peaceful which was much needed can not fault this place

If you love hair in your food for abit of extra flavour this is the place for you. I have only come here two times, each time for a roast dinner and both times I have discovered hair in my food. The first time was just small strands of hair but on this occasion it was a long wriggly black hair which got stuck in my mouth and wrapped itself around my teeth. Rather than sitting there enjoying my roast dinner I spent 5 minutes trying to untangle hair from my teeth and pull it out like string cheese. Overall I am very unsatisfied and also very annoyed with the lack of care the manager showed when I told her about it. She instantly said I can’t receive a refund due to me getting a discounted meal which I think is very un-flexible and unfair. She even went on to say that it’s no fault of the pubs and that it’s actually my fault and that I should of kept more of an eye out on the hair when self serving. I should not have to go hair spotting when serving my own food and the area where the food is kept for self service should be kept clean at all times. I should not be getting blamed for something because the manager clearly can’t take ownership. Overall a terrible experience and I will not be returning ever again.

Came in for a drink and to play some pool, such a chilled vibe, staff was very nice, especially Patricia, very lovely girl, didn’t have food but it looked and smelled amazing! Highly recommend!

Me and my family always go here for birthdays and celebrations, the food is always amazing (even though it takes ages) and we always ask for quiet seating, extremely loud children are always seated by us and it's extremely irritating and completely ruins the meal. I don't recommend this place if you dislike loud noises.

Spur of the moment breakfast with a friend. Warm welcome & explanation of how the breakfast set up worked. Breakfast was lovely, great selection. Served by 2 lovely ladies, Gail & Farrah who were very efficient and attentive.

Can for breakfast last minute, lovely and quiet on this Wednesday morning. Greeted by Gail who took our food order, chef Karl, well the breakfast came out piping hot, 10/10 would reccomend!

We visited at a quiet time on Saturday afternoon. The pizza we had was very nice. The staff were a bit slow to bring out condiments, having to be asked 3 times.

Great Breakfast…! Stayed at Premier Inn next door with added breakfast and got great service with a smile from Gail and a well-cooked breakfast from Tom even though quite busy. Nice way to start the day - thanks guys!

Food is always good and good price with bluelight discount. Staff not very friendly we have been a number of times recently but they don't seem to acknowledge this.

Place is filthy. Ive been a few times over the years. However the last couple of times attneding for breakfasts ive not had a great experience, there's not been much food choice which is shocking for over £10 a person, no cups and had to ask for one to be washed, coffee machine empty, spilt milk all over the place and should be monitored and cleaned up, no pastries, waited 20 minutes before order was taken, and then felt we were told off for not booking, yet we did and then the waitress was argumentative. Came out feeling deflated. One of the staff (an oldish lady) was abrupt and rude, she moaned constantly that they were too busy with just 2 staff, not the customers fault. Should get more staff in. The place needs a good clean and total refurbishment. Use to like this place. I now have breakfasts some where else where we get a great, polite and happy service.

Food was great, and staff helpful and polite. The only downfall was the toilets, being very dark, tight spaces and broken toilet seat.

I had a carvery but was late so was a bit dried up not alot left either but was ok eatable
