Jamaica Blue Telford in Telford and Wrekin

Previously on my first visit I had given it a 5 star review and I have since visited several times and found there is no consistency in both the quality of food and service. On average this review now reflects this eatery in my opinion. Staff are completely lost to what they are doing, I ordered a chicken and ham tortilla stack and it took 15 minutes to heat it up. It was not busy at all and the staff were just there to complete staff rota. One of the servers I asked for a fork and she puts her grubby hands all over the eating side of things. I asked twice she did the same thing not releasing her amateur mistake that after serving customers and dealing with cash transactions wash your hands. Also if the food is for takeaway it’s common sense to provide a fork or a napkin atleast. Staff get flustered with a ray of sunshine shining through, they need training in both customer service and overall experience of dealing with food preparation and delivery. Location is ideal, menu is great but pity they can’t execute it to the full potential. Will not be wasting my money there again.

Wait for food was sooooo long, and not the best when it did finally arrive.

Good selection of sweet treats, dining options are quite basic. Staff are always helpful.

Came and had a lovely breakfast on Saturday with my son. My server ( from the receipt) was a young lady called Olivia. Olivia was very polite and well mannered throughout and can't thank her enough for her service. Will definitely be returning.

Bad food, bad service, dont do it to yourself

Had a lovely lunch here, great location in the middle of the shopping centre, lovely friendly staff, service was quick and the food and drinks were fab, will definitely be back.

Relaxed surroundings, prompt service and well presented food. Highly rate the coconut and raspberry slice!

Excellent coffee and world class Eggs Benedict from Tony.

Eggs benny was very nice, eggs done perfectly. We ordered 1 sandwich and 1 cooked breakfast and they came out 15 minutes apart- so you can’t eat together. Coffees are very smooth. A very polite and helpful server called Tony!

We went in around 13.30 for a spot of lunch on new year's eve (31/12/24). One of our friends had toasted cheese and ham sandwich, my husband had toasted ciabatta with cheese and ham, they both said delicious and very tasty. My friend and I shared the hot honey and halloumi on flat bread, oh my god, we both said this has to be one of the nicest, tastiest meals we have ever eaten, blooming delicious. The staff were lovely, accommodating and polite, considering how busy it was we were served in good time, all food was lovely and hot and, the place was really clean and tidy, no clutter, no tables covered in used crockery, cutlery etc, was a really lovely lunch and atmosphere, we will definitely be going back. We'll done chef/cook and all staff.

Lots of mistakes at the till that took a while to sort. Food quality doesn't justify the price and if you're going to charge £3.10 for loose leaf tea at least serve that and not fob us off with a tea bag. It's a shame as this used to be a great place to eat and meet, cutting corners doesn't work.

Appalling experience. Been here several times. This time we waited 45 minutes for the turkey specials....which came without turkey. The sausage was raw, staff were surly and the manager openly admitted that our order was chaotic. Never again.

Absolutely awful food. Nice drinks but awful food. We ordered the Christmas dinner. The gravy wasn’t even whisked so had big lumps of gravy granules in it. The salt made me heave. There was a thin piece of Bernard Matthew’s style packed turkey and it was covered all over with big dollops of cranberry. Please avoid.

The dirtiest crockery you will ever see. Teapot lid was an inch from closing and absolutely filthy. The excuse was,'"oh well, tea stains'. It didn't look like it had been washed for weeks. Definitely won't be going again!

Cutlery was like camping equipment. Menu overpriced for a cafe. Big Breakfast & drink £15 Milkshake had no ice cream and only squirty cream. £4.90 Bacon & sausage portions sadly lacking on the meals. one Small sausage and a bit of bacon does not qualify for a BIG breakfast.

Lovely cafe here in Telford, can't believe it's taken me this long to visit it. The food me and mom had was lovely.

The food was grim. You don’t get a lot for your money at all! I had the American breakfast, it was one sad pancake, brown and rubbery scrambled eggs, a soggy hash brown with bacon, tomatos and the smallest pot of syrup. The other half had the big brekkie, poached eggs looked ok, other than that it looked vile! A dried out mushroom, thin cold toast and the smallest slither of black pudding I’ve ever seen, with a tiny pot of sauce-less burnt beans. The experience wasn’t all bad as the staff were friendly and we received everything we ordered in a good time despite it being busy, it’s just a shame about the food, especially for how much it cost!

When Jamaica blue opened in Telford shopping centre it was fantastic brilliant atmosphere lovely professional nice staff food absolutely delicious and the Jamaica blue coffee exceptional my fave coffee of all time we looked forward to getting our lunch and relish coffee worth the money however visited today hardly any customers we sat down at a table which was absolutely filthy a previous customers coffee cups and half eaten food on plates still there ok maybe the staff were busy I thought I went to order 2 coffees a cake and a tuna melt ciabatta the lady serving me looked pissed off was not friendly at all was quite intimidating completed the order sat down a young man came over and brought the 2 coffees which tone fair we’re good thank god he then moved the dirty plates an cups off our table however did not clean an already filthy table see photos crumbs bits of leftover food from hours previous from other previous customers it was unhygienic and dirty then my tuna melt ciabatta was plonked down on the table with my wife’s lemon yogurt cake the tuna melt was not good obviously microwaved the cress was left at the side of the tuna melt looking like a green messy mulch disgusting it’s a shame this once lovely well run nice staffed café has gone down hill with obvious complacency very sad still loved the coffee though shame about the tepid microwaved tuna melt and dry lemon yoghurt cake the service the cleanliness and the pissed off member of staff was not worth the £17.80 cost hopefully the Jamaica blue management kick the staff up the back side toget back to a 5 star café and service

Breakfast came out cold and blk pudding uncooked the chef was very rude but abi the lady serving sorted it out straight away and put everything right and also seemed to be the only member off staff there who cared and working hard so thankyou abi much appreciated 😊 would come bk due to the service abi gave

Nice atmosphere for breakfast, lovely food that is high quality and proper portion sizes not too big. Proper coffee and reasonably priced considering the level of experience, even the plates and cups are high quality and gave our breakfast a more premium feel.

Fantastic friendly and prompt service. Abi took our order - very efficient and friendly. She dealt with my nut allergy query and ensured myself and my daughter that the dishes ordered are nut free. I would highly recommend!

Would give 0 stars if I could, went in at 4pm for some late lunch however was refused when placing my order at the till and I was told the kitchen was closed fully and no food was going to be served. Walked back past and noticed people being served food and they were preparing food at the till. They clearly don’t want the owner to make any profit!! they were very ignorant and sarcastic on top of this. I never write negative reviews I just hope this is used as feedback to improve…….

Kitchen was closed which was a let down, so we could only choose from the ready made sandwich's etc. Abby was attentive and took our order right away.

Tom and lady with pink hair were kind and knowledgeable about the coffee. Had a Jamaican blue latte, it was delicious and worth every penny

Blue Lagoon at the weekend July 2024 Popped in for a light lunch. The 'healthier options' are limited, perhaps catering for the prefferred local appetite of Telford residents. My friend had the Chicken Wrap I opted for the brie and something sandwich, possibly bacon. A flat single flat white turned up with frothed milk (I;m not sure that they are able to cater for coffee not on the list!) But a Chai Latte was pretty good. Costs a bit over £21 Its a nice enough venue, but the food is by no means 'out of this world' Atmosphere – its a busy open restaurant in a busy shopping centre, certainly at lunchtime it can be a bit loud

Tried this place out as its been a long time coming. Waited at the counter and was ignored for a couple of minutes before someone took my order. Food arrived 20 mins later and the pictures speak for themselves. £11.90 for Big Brekkie. Mushroom missing a bit and basically jerky, Bread slice not really a slice, very thin and missing a part. Eggs have that yellow yolk which suggest caged. Beans were nuked to the point most exploded and the sauce was non existent. Bacon just pork fat strips which was not cooked very well. Overall it was edible but for £11.90 it was unacceptable. Will not be back. The photos back up my claims and for between 9 and 10 on a Saturday to only fill out 30% occupancy also backs up my claims. Sorry to be negative as I dont do many negative reviews but my hope of that the feedback is taken positively to improve your cafe

Food looked lovely but sadly we couldn’t order it as the kitchen was ‘closed’ at 11.30am on a Sunday. We chose counter food instead, just a panini and a slice of cake. That then took 20-30 minutes to arrive with our tea & coffee whilst we got to watch those who’d ordered just before us receive their cooked breakfasts and those 10 minutes after us also receive their hot food in much quicker timeframes. We wouldn’t have minded waiting for hot food had we been given the chance, especially since we had to wait an inordinate time for drinks & counter food anyway (which we wouldn’t have done it we’d known!) If you can’t fulfil orders for all tables, really should reduce the number of tables rather than this approach.

⚠️ WARNING, DON’T WORK HERE OR EAT HERE⚠️ Where do I even start with this? My boyfriend was working here for 8 months in the back as a chef. (August 2023-March 2024) We’re going to start off with Lauren, who was managing the place. She came in, wrongfully firing people who’d been working there for years & hiring her friends to work there. She was so rude to all of the staff that was working there, particularly the black people but I won’t use the race card heavily. She was a very poor manager & left her responsibilities and duties to the people “beneath” her. After 4 months of her firing almost everybody who dared to say something, she got the taste of her own medicine & was rightfully fired. Now when I had heard this from my boyfriend, I was happier for him because I was worried about his mental health due to the job. He then told me he was getting “better” management… lol. Now before we get into that, let’s talk about the cross contamination risk. There was only one grille from October until my boyfriend was wrongfully fired (I’m not sure if this is still the case, but I’d beware). This grille was used to cook every single ingredient from RAW MEAT, to GLUTEN FREE, to VEGETABLES, to VEGAN MEALS. No management tried to fix this despite the complaints from kitchen staff, as this is unacceptable. The MRX speed oven had smoke coming out of it, this made my boyfriend very ill to the point he was bedridden, we considered taking him to hospital but we couldn’t get an appointment. On top of this, when he partially recovered and was able to get out of bed, he was left with a sinus infection. He mentioned that on multiple occasions, he saw small crumbs from the food set on fire in the MRX — which could’ve caused an explosion. Now what’s funny is that he wasn’t the only one that was ill from this or complaining that he was. So when they had the “better” management come in, he complained about the MRX oven & how it made him and another person ill, hoping it’d get resolved for health and safety precautions only for him to FIRED for “multiple absences”. Jamaica Blue Telford is an absolute disgrace to the hospitality industry & we will be seeking legal action.

Closing the back half of the place at 2:30pm on a Sunday is nothing but stupid... Also had to take the cups and plates to fill as they were just sitting there while 4 or 5 staff were behind the counter/kitchen area. 15 mins for 2 pots of tea and I would suggest they review their cleanliness policy's as the table was filthy, crumbs were wiped all over my partner and the water used for the news had small particles of what could be limescale.

Abby is a lovely staff member (all the staff was lovely as well!) and very helpful and friendly. Food is tasty and fresh as well. Lovely to have such a wonderful bunch in town- thank you!

The food was either raw or just cold, was served raw bacon and black pudding on the breakfast. The beans, hash brown and sausages were cold. Wasn’t worth the money at all. Could have went elsewhere and been happier with a significantly cheaper price tag. Spoke to the servers that apologised but made no motion to rectify the issue. The people beside us experienced the same with the food being undercooked and cold.

Not our best experience if I'm honest, food took an average time to arrive but some was cold and other bits way overdone. Staff are lovely, attentive and efficient in here, unfortunately today they were super busy and I think this has had an impact. What we ordered: Caramel latte with Almond Milk (10/10) Strawberry ice cream shake (10/10) American Diner breakfast (6/10) Vegan brunch (7/10) I will go back as the eating area is clean and well kept, the staff are lovely and usually the food is top notch. I have visited here a number of times, usually when it's a bit quieter, perhaps that's the key. Poached eggs, way over done couldn't eat them, may as well been hard boiled.

Not impressed with my tea, when I have tea in a restaurant I expect it to be made with filtered water. My tea had a lot of scum in and it was just not a nice cup of tea. I'm sure this can be improved?

£4.80 for one coffee. £4 for an American. 80p for a dash of oat milk!! The coffee is lacklustre. And they heated/foamed the oat milk without asking so my very expensive coffee is absolutely not what I wanted and a complete waste….! It’s an americano!

Highly recommended! when your all shopped out and decide to take a break. On arrival I was greeted by 2 lovley members of staff. Abi was so poilte and helped me, with my chioce of food, such a friendly face! I came here a few months back and wasn't satisfied. But today that has changed. 10/10 cleaniness, my food was spot on and delicious, very organised and the food was prepared qwick and out in no time and served lovley! Such a lovley atmosphere to sit down. Il be definitely returning. Thank you 😊

Always our go to coffee shop, first visit to Telford having used other Jamaica blue franchises. Couldn't fault service food. Well done to Abbie for keeping them on their toes.

Only went for coffee, but best flat white around. We go most weeks. The floor staff work hard and are often under pressure. Good luck to the new Management

This is always my coffee shop of choice when visiting the town centre. Loving it especially more since the new manager has taken over. Very clean and tidy, quick service and friendly staff.

came here today for some quick breakfast was fantastic to be honest wasn’t sure what to get someone named abi who works there went above and beyond to tell me about all the options i asked about and the customer service was amazing food was quick and very very nice will definitely come back with this type of service.

We visited on 17th March 24 and ordered 2 x loose leaf tea, 1 big brekkie and 1 Turkish eggs. The tea arrived after about 10 minutes, not loose leaf as printed on menu but tea bag (£3.10 for a tea bag). I asked to speak with the manager and she confirmed breakfast tea comes in tea bag, not what it says on menu. After a further 25 minutes the food arrived, big brekkie was acceptable, the Turkish eggs were not as described on menu. Toasted sourdough naan bread was a cheap tortilla and the whipped feta was just sour cream. I again spoke with the manager and she went and got me a small bowl of feta to mix with sour cream. Please be aware food and drinks served not as advertised on menu. The manager was very pleasant and she did refund the cost of drinks, but I am sure trading standards would be interested.

Enough choice of vegetarian options. You have to order at the tilt. Reasonable prices. Good option for early breakfast on a Sunday.

Mocha was amazing! Food was not amazing, a drink was missed but that didn't matter because the cake to go with it was still frozen in the middle so was not eaten, they did refund this after asking. Items did not come as described on the menu either, we might go back but just for coffee.

Dreadful service. Dismissive , rude, robbed and lied too. One star because there is no choice for minus stars. Dear Reader, my experience at the Telford branch today. Date: 03/03/2024 I ordered a "Breakfast roll £5.20" A crusty sourdough roll with your choice of streaky bacon, cumberland sausage, or vegan sausage & red or brown sauce. Add a fried egg for an extra £1.00 After waiting 30 minutes (so long it's now lunchtime) I received a toasted sourdough roll with just a fried Egg, the breakfast elements were missing. I highlighted this to the waiter that a mistake had been made. He responded that the meats were an added extra. Which, as you are aware from the menu, is not how it is listed. He then sent over the manager because he refused to rectify the order stating "you've not paid enough for the meats" The manager said that he understood our frustration, when I asked to clarify that we had paid £5.20 for a toasted sourdough bap. He responded, saying " I don't agree with the prices either I think that £6.20 for an egg bap is expensive "Sweet" but that's how it had been for 4 years and Noone else has complained and you will have to pay extra for the bacon or sausage and refused to rectify the order. I have been Robbed by this store, spoken to like an imbecile and quite frankly I am very disappointed with my experience. I will not visit again . Kind regards "Sweet"

First time and the last. Coffees was only luke warm complained and were replaced. Service was slow. Shut half the dining area down at 3.30. 6 tables with dirty crockery.

Excellent friendly service , food came quickly and was delicious I recommend the big breakfast. Even though it was busy staff interaction was great , ensuring everything was satisfactory.

The impression given by the staff was they would rather be anywhere else!! Food was ok, however the toast was barely cooked, there was nearly as much coffee in the saucer as in the cup. One of the members serving drinks and food kept messing with his nose and then touching cups and cutlery.

8.90 for a Bacon and egg bap, a basic bread roll with one piece of bacon and one egg and that was it……. For 8.90

I ordered a cafe and croissant the give my just cafe whit out milk the bring and I was waiting for croissant long time plas my table was dirty and the waitress if evening not cleaned my table, I have to move table because was to dirty. And the surprise me to bring cafe and croissant and don't clean table😔

We ordered a black coffee , 2 berry and yogurt smoothies and a vanilla ice cream shake we waited 20 minutes for these to arrive as on the drink section there was one person working and we paid 4.90 for each smoothie and they tasted like stale milk with not hit of berries at all !! The only drink that was drinkable was the black coffee ! Needless to say we won’t be going back poor service and even worse drinks

Looks like there was recently a change in management, not sure, but I thought I would give it another go, waited a while to be served at the till, ordered and was not informed of anything, there were say 6 other tables with people on, and it looked like only one other was waiting for food. 30 mintues later we was served food, no apologies, food lukewarm at best, edible, everything that should be on the plate was there. There were people coming in after us for lunch, and leaving after being told the wait times, wish we knew, and it was still not practically full, looking at previous comments about new chefs , dated 2 months ago, I don't think things have got better. Would not recommend.

I came in here today order a skinny coffee when I went to pay realised I had left my cards at home school boy error the very nice assistant said no worries its a cold day one is on us that's what it's all about top people xxx
