This is now the Woodyard café and is typical of most NT cafés. The sponge cake was complete so you'd think it would be fresh and moist but was a bit dry. Both the cakes were overpriced. The service was slow with the young woman still bringing out the produce as a a queue formed. The woman at the till was also selecting and plating the cake as she went along.
Haddock and large chips. Fish and the chips both perfect but don’t order large unless you’re a family of six as there were far too many. Great price too.
Food and ambience lovely until you visit the ladies toilet . Toilet seat loose and surprised it’s not sorted as someone with a bad back could put a claim in . It’s so loose it’s dangerous no hinges in place such a let down for such a simple solution. Pipes could do with a simple paint job .
I know it's only an M&S cafe but it was really good ! Delicious fresh baked scones, still warm & crumbly, good selection of sandwiches / light bites. It's small, but it's very comfortable & was air conditioned on a very hot day.
Have to say its great that Freds family are back running the shop. Had the best cod and chips 2 nights ago and enough chips for the 2 of us! Lovely chat whilst waiting for food to be cooked fresh. Will be a regular visitor again
Arrived 40 mins late and lukewarm. Was ordered as a birthday meal so really quite annoyed by this. Had prepared other food to accompany and all was cold by the time they came. Will not be ordering again. Fuming!
I have been twice in the last couple of weeks and have had medium chips.
The first time the chips was still hard and today they had no vinegar and I had about 10-15 chips in the box very poor so got refund
very good covid precautions taken had jacket pots and prawns perfect the coffee was great and the staff very good had food and drinks for 2 under £10 which is very cheap for the amount of food we had will call again when in Southam
Popped in as staying locally and loved this quirky pub. Lots of sitting area and you can collect a take away or stay in and eat in the bar. Plates, forks and napkins all available.
The food was excellent and my husband was amazing I got through my Pad Thai chicken portion. I really like how this pub has diversified. Great local feel and if I lived locally many teas would come from here.
A fascinating pub that we were told was once owned by Henry VIII and given to Catherine of Aragon on their divorce. Then owned by Magdalene College Oxford for hundreds of years. It’s certainly old with flagstone floors, lots of panelling and a no longer accessible secret passageway to the church across the road. Top that with decent beers, a short freshly cooked menu and friendly service
