Terrible Ordered at 7pm told within the hour that's ok 8.45 delivery to be fair delivery driver brilliant probably putting up with loads of grief due to stupid owners phoned them to complain and all he said was discount I've used them for years never again

45mins wait at the counter watching two clueless teens behind the counter blunder their way through service. Same dreadful decor and filthy shop frontage. Overheard complaints from customers on the phone about their orders. When we finally received our food it was dreadful - I can see why everyone else complained.

We have been going in for a while to order and always have had great food. I’m a fussy eater and it was never a problem to accommodate my dietary needs. Always welcoming team who runs as clocks and delivers nice food. What else can one ask for.

How lucky are we to have this gem on our doorstep. We use Lucky House regularly for family get-togethers and the occasional cheeky mid week takeaway and we are never disappointed. The food is always freshly cooked, great value for money, delicious and of an exceptional standard. Mention must also go to the front of house staff, in particular the young lady who regularly takes our orders; her efficiency and outstanding customer service would grace any establishment and I hope this is acknowledged and appreciated. Thank you for playing a valuable role in our community.

The only Chinese we use, never had a bad meal from them. The staff are always friendly, service is always fast.

Had my first order the other night had saucy and pepper box hardly anything in it as advertised was freezing cold went straight in the bin had to order something else avoid

Just got food from here .I can say chicken corn soup is good but not that good.Rest what we got ist really not good.There is no sign of Chinese taste.Very very disappointed 😞

This is the second time I’ve ordered from here and food has been each time and the portions were generous. I ordered the dim sum starter, house special chow mein and salt and pepper chicken. The chow mein was beautiful with a lovely garlic gravy sauce, plenty of meat and vegetables. The salt and pepper chicken was cooked well too. The dim sum starter was also nice, with two large chicken satay sticks were nice. Also the spring rolls were made fresh not like other places which usually use frozen mini spring rolls. Overall eat item was cooked well. I will continue to order from here.

First time ordering after being recommended, I had take out with delivery, fast delivery, fresh hot tasty food, I’m so impressed BBQ spare ribs falling of the bone, salt and pepper mushrooms were amazing, beef chowmein and beef curry was so tasty and lots of flavour,il definitely will be returning 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Phoned for delivery at 6.45pm was told your food will be with you with in the hour, 2 hours later still no food 😑. Cancelled order at 9pm

Came to lucky house as my local chinese (sampan) was closed untill august, used to use lucky house a lot some years back but it changed for the worse anyway thought i would give them a go again, not really impressed they were rushing around to catch up orders so the wait time was ridiculous and i think due to this my chow mein was pretty much still raw so we didnt eat it, the egg fried rice was like uncle bens microwave rice and the chicken balls looked and tasted like they were cooked in a volcano! way too overcooked and burnt.

Lucky house did go off a bit. But had a meal from there the other night and it was lovely xx well recommended

We were loyal customers until today. We ordered from our local chinese as normal and there were items missing from the order. I went back to collect new items and were charged for them, not only that but they would not accept cash as it was under £5 so I had to spend more for the items they missed off our order when taking it over the phone. We spend a lot at this place but now I am very offended and won't be returning.

Visited Lucky House for takeaway as usual Chinese was closed due to holidays . Wish I hadn’t bothered. Ordered two different chicken dishes . Chicken was like rubber and grey looking . Couldn’t eat it. Horrible greasy meal . Can’t really say anything good about it . The girl who served us was friendly and pleasant but that is where the good points stop. Wouldn’t use again and will wait until usual Chinese opens back up as they are excellent.

Dry and stale food. Won't be using again. Food seemed like it was old and reheated. Extremely dry and tasteless. Duck cremated and chewy! Prawn crakers stale. Just overall, awful food.

I ordered house special fried rice, king prawns with ginger and spring onions, salt and pepper spared ribs, chicken sweetcorn soup; it was my first time to visit Lucky House and I’m sure I’ll go back there if I’m around in this area again. Overall - friendly n polite staff, good taste of food and value for money after all. Last but not the least, I got a bag of free prawn crackers too. 😋

The food was at perfect temperature, very tasty, arrived on time , couldn't fault anything about the service , we will use again .

Just fed 3 hungry kids and myself for less than £10. per head. Delicious.

I love this Chinese the Singapore chow mein is top and I would highly recommend the BBQ spare ribs with red spicy sauce, top notch take out with friendly staff

Been using since 2008 not had bad food but tonight not on par in the past. Got told they are bigger portions but they are not and the bag of prawn crackers is half the size.

Had a takeaway delivery. Food was of a good quality. The ribs were the best I have had in a good while, big and covers in a tender meat. They also gave us some extra mushroom side dish and they were lovely!

I usually go the takeaway further on down but walked out after seeing they have put up all their prices by 50p on everything so decided to try the lucky house for the first time in about 15 years. As soon as i walked in i looked around and was shocked, the place is a mess, hardly any lighting working and was totally grubby. Young lady taking orders was friendly but looked like she would rather be in the pub. I had special curry which was basically chicken in curry sauce. Wont be going again as lesson learned. Years ago this was THE place to go in the village...not now.

Not the greatest around. Had a special curry, which was just beige with Chicken, and I think beef & pork (difficult to tell!) Still persisting with mad covid measures, with the counter completely covered in plastic sheeting and then they put the food on a tray on the floor for you to pick up! Bizarre. Won't be back.

If I could give no stars I would.....chicken wasn't cooked, still raw in the middle. When calling, I obviously asked for a refund for them to constantly try and offer me more food which I said I don't want more food I want a refund, for them then to send a "driver" out to collect the raw food 😅 and give me a cash refund. Absolute joke of a takeaway restaurant, trying to get out of a refund but hey, I'll see if I eventually get my refund from the driver who knows 😅

Luck House has been used by my family for years, and has been delivering during Covid. The meals have always been really good, until Friday night. It is rare that I can't eat a meal, but this was very hard. First, every dish that should be crisp was soggy and soft. Lemon Chicken turned out to be soggy fried chicken with lemon sauce to pour on. Looks like Lucky House has new owners/management. Otherwise it would not have gone from really bad in a short period.

Delivery is so slow 2 hour Delivery time , come on guys get more drivers . Food is good

Have used lucky house for 45 years, last visit will be the one we had this evening. I appreciate they are busy but when you place an order and are told it will be delivered in 1hr 10 minutes you can accept a few minutes later. I called (when I could actually get through) almost 2 hours later to be told it would be 20 more minutes. I said we would come and collect it... on arrival it seems they had said the same to a considerable amount of others. 2.5 hours seems the average. BUT they were still taking orders for collection and delivery despite being totally overwhelmed. Eventually we get the food home to be missing one starter and one main course! When I eventually got through again after about another 20 mins, the guy was pretty rude and said we did not order or pay for this, I insisted we did but he would do nothing. The food we did have was at best average. The last visit the food was not the best but we thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt! It seems they just want the sales but not to give customer service. This is definitely our LAST VISIT TO THIS TAKE AWAY. Too many others to choose from..

First time ordering here, new to the area and based ordering off recommendation. Quick service and delivery. Very friendly delivery driver and delicious food - would order again!

We have been using lucky house for years, as did my parents when we were kids, being from Studley I chose to follow this tradition, However we ordered two meals for a takeaway, one fried chicken and king prawn in chilli garlic sauce, and a happy family szechuan style, chicken and garlic prawns had no prawns, so I politely rang the restaurant and made them aware, the lady on the phone was very apologetic and offered me a discount next time I ordered, she also noted this was on the system and would be noted next time I ordered, whilst eating the meal, I thought it was tasteless and watery, so we just thought it was a bad meal, it happens right? ... I just tried to order stating that we had a discount on file, he went off to tell the boss and the reply I had was.... The boss remembers cooking your order and he remembers putting the prawns into your meal!!! So this time there will be no discount... Really!? If the boss cooks this kind of food, lucky house won't be around for long!! Whilst writing this they have literally rang me back offering me a discount, no lucky house, just no....

Always been our Chinese of choice, food has always been really good for us, the best. But sadly after not using for a while it seems to have gone rather off the boil. Had a collection order last night, as mentioned on other sites by people, the order was also missing items but due to the current situation (Covid) checking is difficult in the shop and they are a bit too far to go back to and let the rest of the meal go cold. What Chinese takeaway forgets the essentials on the order like egg fried rice and pancakes for the duck?? Also the recipes are getting a bit bizarre, the sweet and sour chicken balls have grown to massive size, about a 1/3rd of a breast each, its just lazy as its probably quicker to prep but it is worrying that its going to cook through safely as its so thick. The clue is in the name, Chicken balls not bricks. And chicken wings and ribs were drowned in trays full of sticky sauce, wings are messy enough as it is, but after fishing out of a 'bucket' of sauce.. I needed a shower after eating! Finally getting the order through is always an adventure, poor, noisy phone their end and weak English leaves you wondering what you might actually get.

Lucky house is open for business during the lockdown, however they have had some issues the past couple of weeks . The phone line is down so calls are being diverted through a mobile phone this means your address will not automatically come up when you call to order .At the moment they can’t get an engineer to fix so this may be the case for a while . It will take longer to process your order because of this . Midweek there is temporarily no delivery service just collection . You need to state you are collecting your order when you enter the shop and sit away from the counter until asked to get your order so the staff can social distance .The shop doors are open but they would prefer that you don’t just walk in to order at the moment as the waiting area is too small to accommodate social distancing. If you call to collect the time slot given should ensure there are no more than 2 people in the store at any one time . Finally wherever possible to avoid handling cash you will be asked to pay by card over the phone for both delivery and collections. The card machine is not contactless so will not accept mobile phone payment . Wear gloves or use hand sanitizer to use the keypad if you have to do a walk in order.

I have been buying regularly from Lucky House for almost 7 years, but after tonight no more! I ordered at 6:05 with expected delivery at 6:55. All good an hour is normal. At 7:20 I call to see were my food is. It out for delivery I was told. At 7:45 I called again to be told it’s still out for delivery!!! I complained that it would be cold, after being out for delivery for so long. I was told if it was cold it was free of charge. At 8:00 the driver arrived, and asked for payment? I said i was told it was free as it was cold. He disagreed and called the shop. I then watched for 5-10 mins while he had a heated call with base standing in my drive way!. He came back and said I had to pay. I gave him the food and sent him away!!!! I called back to express my disappointment! After 7 years not only have they lost a regular loyal customer, but they also have a bag of food to throw away. So sad. This is just the worst customer service. I was in Lucky house last night when Luciad94 called to complain that her son had been upset that the store was unable to take his £50. I thought Sandra handled the situation in a calm professional manner considering she was being shouted at so loudly that the whole shop could hear the conversation. She apologized for the situation at least 3 times and explained that they were unaware their note checking pen had gone dry until the note was tendered at which point the son had offered to go next door to Tesco to buy something to get change. The woman was shouting that though her son looked like a man he had a learning disability and had been upset when he got home. Sandra explained he wasn’t singled out and anyone would have been refused as the boss would only accept £50 notes that could be checked due to fakes being commonly in circulation. On several occasions she asked what the customer would like them to do but got more abuse for doing so. In the end as the call was preventing shop customers from getting served and the caller was unable to say what they expected , Sandra told the caller she was going to have to disconnect the call as it was going in circles.They had put a notice on the back of the till immediately after the son had been in to tell customers they were unable to accept £50 notes . However you have to ask in these days of more businesses going cashless why you would send someone with issues out with such a large note which is generally not accepted by a lot of small businesses.

ATTN: Owner / Manager of the business. I have been a loyal customer to Lucky House in Studley over the years and it’s all been ruined after a conversation I have had this evening with Sandra with regards to how we paid for our Chinese upon collection. After sending my son in with a £50 note to pay for our Chinese this evening he left feeling humiliated by Sandra trying to accuse him of giving him a fake £50 note which she couldn’t prove as she didn’t even have a pen to check it. (As per call San, make sure you grab one of those when you next pop to the shop). Luckily Tesco Express changed it into smaller notes so he could come back and pay for the food. So this never happens to anyone else maybe it’s worth printing a ‘no £50 notes’ sign so no other customers get humiliated. Cutting a long story short, I phoned Lucky House to express how I felt about the whole customer experience and Sandra couldn’t of cared less about my feelings as a customer and was very rude, arrogant and patronising towards me and about my son telling me to ‘put a label on my son so we all know he has autism’. How dare she talk about him like this. I felt as though I needed to share this as I feel really upset about the whole situation which was totally unnecessary!!

Only recently discovered this little gem on a recommendation of a friend. And I am so glad. Food has been so tasty.

Stayed at a local travelodge and ordered a takeaway for delivery, delivered right to the room by a polite guy. Food was fantastic, will definitely use again !

Take away wasn’t good chicken wasn’t cooked properly but when called to complain and ask for replacement was faced with argumentative staff disagreeing!! Bad customer service won’t be going back again

I have been ordering food from Lucky House for about 10 years. I believe the current owners have been there for a year or two. They have kept the menu the same, but as new bosses, have tweaked the recipes slightly due to the chefs being different . I must say after reading the reviews here I wondered if the bad reviewers were talking about the same place . The staff are pleasant and polite. They always read the order back to you so you can check nothing is missed and always give you a price . They charge delivery because the driver keeps the delivery charge as their wage on top of a turning up for work basic fee . This seems fair as lots of establishments pay their drivers below minimum wage so those drivers are the ones who say they have no change etc to earn more. I assume this is also an incentive to deliver quickly so food isn’t cold when it gets to you . I tend to have food Fridays or Saturdays and the place is always busy with shop orders and collections and the phone is always ringing with new orders . If the food was that bad the place would be empty and as another reviewer said there are lots of Chinese takeaways in Studley so they would have gone out of business long ago. The staff tell me they deliver to Bordesley, Feckenham, Inkberrow , Alcester and Henley in Arden as well as Studley and Redditch so their reputation has spread . It is all too easy to leave a bad review if something doesn’t go your way but I can honestly say I have never had a bad or cold meal from Lucky House . And would recommend them to anyone wanting a quality meal. I’ve heard lots of people order practically bespoke meals - leave this out, add that in, make it with breast meat and it’s all accommodated without an issue . To the reviewer who complained at not getting a refund for a delivered meal he had eaten, I’d like to say nowhere would refund you for something you were not willing to return to the kitchen. How does a business know your not just trying to get a free meal . No, you return it to the shop so the manager can tell the chef off and replace your food their menu clearly states their refund policy and that they charge for delivery. I’ve eaten at other Chinese’s whilst in other parts of the country and I still thing Lucky House take some beating . I wouldn’t leave a bad review for those places though as people have seemed to do here, as how their chefs prepare things will be different to what I’m used to and I understand that it’s not bad food, it’s just different .

My husband and I have ordered from here for a couple of years now and over the last 6 months standards have been slipping, we just thought they were busy( not that, that should be an excuse as your still paying the same money) however ordered tonight and again it was disgusting, not edible at all, we were so disappointed, will not be back Taft’s for sure.

My fiancé went to this place for what we thought would be a half decent takeaway meal and what we got wasn’t fit for human consumption,when he got it home and I dished it up there was the most awful smell and taste to the food of what I can only describe as nicotine,please to anyone reading this don’t waste your money.

Bought takeaway meals for myself and my fiancée on Saturday night , chicken curry & fried rice , king prawn foo young & fried rice , on opening the containers we detected a smell of stail cigarette smoke , however we started to eat the meals but there was distinct taste of cigarettes, disgusting!! We threw them in the bin the bin !! What a waste of £22 !! Avoid this place !!

I have been ordering from the lucky house for nearly 30yrs. Never again. I was told an hour foe delivery but had to phone to ask after an hour where my order was . When it arrived it was luke warm at best . The rice was cold . I phoned to complain and was told i could return it and it would be re delivered. As it was nearly ten by this time and we ordered it at just past 830 . I said i was too hungry to wait anymore . The lady on the phone said she would phone me back. We tried to eat some but it was dreadful . I phoned back and she explained as i refused to accept the redelivery that they couldn't do anything. Unless I had more than half of everything that was delivered so if I'd touched it then i couldn't have a refund. I said we had only finished one of the 5 items ordered . I was told we could have two items free on our next delivery .i asked for them to be refunded and they refused . I then said i would bring everything back . They still refused any sort of refund

The food has always been really good but the delivery times are awful. The weekend often has times that go beyond an hour, however the other week it took just under 2 hours! When I phoned to see where it was I got the usual yes its on its way and we've been busy and then the Chinese man on the phone laughed when I suggested that he might have at least phoned when he knew the 50 min wait that I was quoted was turning into an hour and 50 min! It was rude to say the least. I asked for some compensation and he sent me a bottle of coke. I hope he doesn't treat all his customers in this manner as he soon wont have any.

Studley has lots of choice for eating out and takeaways, I'd say that Lucky House are well thought of in general. The staff are very polite, pleasant and accommodating. On my visit to order a takeaway I had the misfortune of having to listen to another customer in there before me, pompous and well spoken and clearly thinking he was dealing with someone beneath his stature - raising his voice and speaking to the female counter assistant as if to a stupid child, very slow and patronising, claiming that she had got his order's price incorrect. I listened to his interminable posh drone, made worse by the poor girl's apologies, until I finally snapped and said "Would you mind not speaking to her like that? She isn't a deaf child and she can speak English. Why are you speaking to her so loudly and slowly as if she can't understand you?" He expostulated and fizzed about at me, telling me that she'd got her sums wrong - turns out that he was a regular, had the same thing every week but that this week his wife had changed the order and it was not what they'd usually pay. Hardly the girl's fault. So while we were waiting, I made sure that I said two words over and over - it helped the wait time go quickly. "Rude!" and "Apologise!" were all he could hear while he waited. He finally got his order, apologised under his breath and buggered off to whence he came. I hate people like that.

Friday night Chinese, can't beat it after a few pints !!!!!!!

La primera vez que he estado aquí desde finales de los años 90 principios de 00. . . No, no hay setas, langostinos sin cerdo no volveremos. El oriental express más allá de la carretera es mucho mejor, más barato y no me asusto con sus ingredientes.

Me and my partner use this chinese every week and the only reason we havent binned it off months ago is because on the average week the foods great and the delivery man who were now on first name terms with is great (andy). The problem i have got is on a few times food has been missing and we've been asked to wait 40 minutes for the other food to arrive whilst what we have already got gets cold. Not just that but literally just 10 minutes ago we called and got asked if we wouldn't mind going on hold, this we didn't mind much but when we can hear person after person ordering whilst were sat at home and waiting 10 minutes thought was pretty poor! So i suggest if you want a good chinese come here as long as you be happy with the odd upset

Simply the best Chinese takeaway around, food is never greasy and doesn't taste of old oil like some do. They also deliver to Inkberrow which from Studley is great.

I called here only occasionally as my wife was never keen on Chinese meals. But after a long journey home she was persuaded to try something. After a delicious Yung Sung and a roast duck with plum sauce, we both decided that this is our local Chinese Takeaway of choice.

After a gap of a couple of years at least from having Chinese food I have had two this week, the first from somewhere else was mediocre - but the one from the Lucky House was excellent, really delicious! unlike the other place this one wasn't loaded with MSG which leaves people feeling lethargic. This one had real flavour and freshness. Great service and they take card payment (which some in the area don't which is a pain). Next time I get the urge for a Chinese I will be using Lucky House.

Had a takeaway from these this evening. Absolutely appalling, rice was hard like it was made days ago. Prawn crackers was stale not even my child would eat them, awful aftertaste on the chips we couldn't even eat our meal. We rang to state we was unhappy and wanted our money back and they can collect the food. They refused and said they will do us free food next time; even though we stated many of time they will not be a next time! Appalled at the food and the service and deffinatly wont be returning. Lesson learnt. Will stick to our normal place in future! Partner fancied a change, little did he know it would be like This!

The only place I will order a Chinese takeaway from ,love there food ,love beef curry onions are big and crunchy , prices average much the same as anywhere else ,waiting time good about 10 - 15 mins usually ,nice friendly staff ,

We have used lucky house for a long time and always been happy and the girl that answered the phone was always friendly knew who we were and how we liked our food. When she left the manageress assured me nothing would change!!!!! Well it has, it had gone to mediocre the last few weeks, last night we ordered and had to wait 75 minutes when we were told 30 to 45, it was luke warm, the special curry we ordered was chicken alone and very bland. Tonight due to circumstances we ordered again, I spoke to the manageress and told her how disappointed we were and where as we always ask for our food extra hot they totally took the Michael and made it unbearable. I don't believe just the girl that used to answer the phone has left I believe the chef must have gone also, either that or they just don't want our regular orders anymore

We have used Lucky House many times since we moved to Studley. The quality of the food is always good and the service is very fast. The staff are always pleasant and greet everyone with a smile.When we have friends, we tend to bring in food from Lucky House, because we know we can depend on them.They are always happy to miss out ingredients we don't want and to substitute other things for them when that is possible.

always a lovely meal whatever you order but best bbq ribs by far, they do have a delivery service if you prefere

Eight of us were getting together to see in the new year. By now, tiring of Christmas fayre, we decided that a Chinese take away feast would be a good 'final meal' of 2015. Rang the order through to the Lucky House an hour before required collection time. Placing the order itself turned out to be a very easy, quick and pleasant experiance. On collection of the order, despite being very busy, the staff had all our food, plus a few 'freebies' ready and boxed up bang on the allocated time. Fourteen varying items had been pre-selected from the menu, and each of the dishes was still nice and hot when finally served up from the containers. All of the dishes were of good sized portions and tasted delicious...Everyone agreed that the overall quality of the meal was first class, and choosing the Lucky House was definately a really good choice.

We are quite fussy when it comes to a good Chinese takeaway and this place did not disappoint. We had ribs, yuk sung and a curry with rice. All cooked well and tasted great. We will use again.
